  • [Purpose] Recent studies have shown that glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI)-which is a glycolysis interconversion enzyme-reduces oxidative stress. However, these studies are limited to tumors such as fibrosarcoma, and there are no studies that have examined the effects of exercise on GPI expression in mice skeletal muscle. Furthermore, GPI acts in an autocrine manner thorough its receptor, autocrine motility factor receptor (AMFR); therefore, we investigated expression level changes of secreted GPI from skeletal muscle in in vitro study to examine the potential role of GPI on skeletal muscle. [Methods] First, we performed an in vitro study, to identify the condition that upregulates GPI levels in skeletal muscle cells; we treated C2C12 muscle cells with an exercise-mimicking chemical, AICAR. AICAR treatment upregulated GPI expression level in C2C12 cell and its secretomes. To confirm the direct effect of GPI on skeletal muscle cells, we treated C2C12 cells with GPI recombinant protein. [Results] We found that GPI improved the viability of C2C12 cells. In the in vivo study, the exercise-treated mice group showed upregulated GPI expression in skeletal muscle. Based on the in vitro study results, we speculated that expression level of GPI in skeletal muscle might be associated with muscle function. We analyzed the association between GPI expression level and the grip strength of the all mice group. The mice group's grip strengths were upregulated after 2 weeks of treadmill exercise, and GPI expression level positively correlated with the grip strength. [Conclusion] These results suggested that the exercise-induced GPI expression in skeletal muscle might have a positive effect on skeletal muscle function.

  • Objective: The horizontal bar of gymnastics is fundamentally based on rotational movements. This study aimed to determine the effect of kinematics variables and sequence during horizontal bar performance (Kovacs, Tkatchev Stretched & Kolman) in gymnastic. Method: Four gymnastics athletes of the national team were participated in this study. All subjects were asked to perform the three types of horizontal bar skill. Simi marker-less cameras were used to collect the raw data (120 Hz). Kinematic variables (total time, interval, center of mass, height, angular velocity etc.) and sequence variables were calculated to examine the differences. Results: As a result, horizontal bar performance in gymnastic has special sequence that making the peak angular velocity from distal joint to proximal joint (knee-hip-shoulder). It is rare sequence that typical sport does not have. Conclusion: In field, gymnastic coaches and players should know the result that there is special sequence in horizontal bar performance. It could be very useful to teach and enhance their performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the training and detraining effects of a 8-week water exercise on lower extremities coordination during obstacle gait in the female elderly. Eight elderly participants (age: $76.58{\pm}4.97$ yrs, height: $148.88{\pm}7.19$ cm, body mass: $56.62{\pm}6.82$ kg, and leg length: $82.36{\pm}2.98$ cm), who stayed at the Seoul K welfare center, were recruited for this study. All participants had no history of orthopedic abnormality within the past 1 year and completed the aquatic exercise program which lasted for 8 weeks. To identify the training and detraining effect of 8 weeks of water exercise, a 3-D motion analysis with 7 infrared cameras and one force plate sampling frequency set at 100 Hz and 1,000 Hz, respectively, was performed. A two-way ANOVA was performed to find training and detraining effects among diferent obstacle heights. In this study significant level was set at .05. Significant training effects of LTS (lead foot thigh and shank) coordination in all obstacle height were found (p<.05). It is also found that the training effect of LTS remained 37%, 58%, and 25% in obstacle height of 30%, 40%, and 50%, respectively. Lead foot showed the greater detraining effect of coordination compared with trail foot, and SF (shank and foot) coordination revealed better detraining effects of coordination compare with TS (thigh and shank) in both feet. Based on the findings, a 8 week water exercise give an positive effects to the elderly in terms of segment cooperation which potentially helps reducing their accident falls. The magnitude of detraining may also help the elderly to find the retraining moment.

  • This study selected 10 university football male players and repeatedly treated them as sports massage group, exercise resumption group, and stability resumption. After maximum exercise, when sport massage, exercise resumption, and stability resumption were applied during recovery, blood lactic acid concentration and $LDH_5$ isozyme concentration were examined. Finally this study obtains the following conclusion 1. There was a significant difference in both lactic acid concentration and time between groups. Besides, the cross-action on group and time was significant. 2. There was a significant difference in both $LDH_5$ concentration and time between groups. Besides, the cross-action on group and time was significant. Based on the above findings, this study suggests that sport massage resumption and exercise resumption remove blood lactic acid more quickly than stability resumption to promote recovery. That means that sport massage and exercise resumption anre very effective for lowering the level of fatigue. Thus sport massage or exercise resumption treatment is considered to have a very positive effect on player's quick recovery and it should be used aggressively in a field.

  • Objective: This study aims to verify effect of 1-RM direct measurement method of back squat on beginners. Method: Total of 8 healthy adults were recruited for this study (age: 29 ± 3.81 yrs., height: 174 ± 3.83 cm., body mass: 74 ± 11.63 kg., 1RM: 96 ± 19.78 kg). All participants performed the back squat with 80%, 90% and 100% of the pre-measured 1RM. A three-dimensional motion analysis was performed with 8 infrared cameras and 3 channels of EMG were used for this study. One-way ANOVA with repeated measure was used for the statistical analysis with the significant level set to α=.05. Results: The ankle joint ROM in the transverse plane was significantly increased as the weight increased during the concentric contraction phase 2 (p < .05). In addition, the erector spinae and the gluteus maximus, which are synergist for the motion, showed a significant difference according to the increased weight (p < .05). Conclusion: Our results revealed that beginners increase potential dynamic knee valgus as weight increased. Therefore, it is thought that field coaches should pay attention to this to minimize and prevent injuries when measuring 1-RM for beginners.

  • Purpose: Usage of leisure-sport social media would lengthen and strengthen the effects of positive event experiences on WOM behavior. This study is to examine the extent to which leisure sport social media use has the moderating potential to enhance the direction of the relationship between post-event emotions and event WOM behavior. Research design, data and methodology: A running event located in a major metropolitan area in the southeastern United States was selected. Participants of the running events completed the survey. Descriptive analysis and correlations between primary variables of interest were conducted. To examine interactions within the context of moderated regression, a hierarchical regression analysis was employed. Results: The results confirmed direct effects of a sense of achievement and event satisfaction on event WOM intention, supporting H 1 and H2. In specific, result revealed that the amount of time spending on social media for running content moderated the effect of a sense of achievement on event WOM intention, supporting H3, however, H4 was rejected. Conclusions: There are managerial implications of these results, particularly which pertain to how organizers may be able to use perceived benefits (i.e., a sense of achievement and satisfaction) and social media to increase positive WOM intention.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different kettlebell mass (30%, 40%, and 50% of the body mass) on kinematics and kinetic variables of kettlebell swing. Method: Total of 16 healthy male who had at least 1 year of kettlebell training experience were participated in this study (age: 31.69 ± 3.46 yrd., height: 173.38 ± 4.84 cm, body mass: 74.53 ± 6.45 kg). In this study, a 13-segments whole-body model (upper trunk, lower trunk, pelvis, both side of forearm, upperarm, thigh, and shank) was used and 26 reflective markers were attached to the body to identify the segments during the movement. A 3-dimensional motion analysis with 8 infrared cameras and 4 channeled EMG was performed to find the effect of kettlebell mass on its swing. To verify the kettlebell mass effect, a one-way ANOVA with a repeated measure was used and the statistical significance level was set at 𝛼=.05. Results: Firstly, in all lower extremity joints and thoracic vertebrae, a statistically significant change in angle was shown according to an increase in kettlebell mass during kettlebell swing (p<.05). Secondly, in both the up-swing and down-swing phases, the knee joint and ankle joint ROM showed a statistically significant increase as the kettlebell mass increased (p<.05) but no statistically significant difference was found in the hip joint and thoracic spine (p>.05). Lastly, the hamstrings muscle activity was statistically significantly increased as the kettlebell mass increased during up-swing phases (p<.05). Also, as the kettlebell mass increased in P4 of the down swing phase, the gluteus maximus showed a statistically significantly increased muscle activation, whereas the rectus femoris showed a statistically significantly decreased muscle activation (p <.05). Conclusion: As a result of this study, hip extension decreased and knee extension increased at 40% and 50% of body mass, and the spine also failed to maintain neutrality and increased flexion. Also, when kettlebell swings are performed with 50% of body mass, synergistic muscle dominance appears over 30% and 40% of body mass, which is judged to have a risk of potential injury. Therefore, it is thought that for beginners who start kettlebell exercise, swing practice should be performed with 30% of body mass. In addition, even in the case of experienced seniors, as the weight increases, the potential injury risk may increase, so it is thought that caution should be exercised when performing swings with 40% and 50% of body mass. In conclusion, it is thought that increasing the weight after sufficiently training with 30% of the weight of all subjects performing kettlebell swing is a way to maximize the exercise effect as well as prevent injury.
