비정질 n형 Si 박막을 이용한 자기터널링 트랜지스터 제작과 특성 (Fabrication and Characteristics of Magnetic Tunneling Transistors using the Amorphous n-Type Si Films)

  • Magnetic tunneling transistor (MTT) device using the amorphous n-type Si semiconductor film for base and collector consisting of the [CoFe/NiFe](free layer) and Si(top layer) multilayers was used to study the spin-dependent hot electron magnetocurrent (MC) and tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) at room temperature. A large MC of 40.2 % was observed at the emitter-base bias voltage ( $V_{EB}$ ) of 0.62 V. The increasing emitter hot current and transfer ratio ( $I_{C}$/ $I_{E}$) as $V_{EB}$ are mainly due to a rapid increase of the number of conduction band states in the Si collector. However, above the $V_{EB}$ of 0.62 V, the rapid decrease of MC was observed in amorphous Si-based MTT because of hot electron spin-dependent elastic scattering across CoFe/Si interfaces.

  • 란탄나이드 3가($Pr^{3+}$$Dy^{3+}$)와 유기 리간드를 (phen', terpy') 착물들의 거동을 UV/vis 분광분석, 자기화 그리고 전기화학적 방법에 의해 조사하였다. 착물들의 결정장 갈라짐 에너지 크기와 짝지움에너지 그리고 스핀상태는 착물들의 스펙트라로부터 얻었다. 이들 착물들에 대한 전지화학적 거동은 비수용매속에서 순환 전압전류법에 의해 관찰하였다. 이들 환원피크는 전자 전이에 의한 비가역적인 2단계의 환원 과정이었다.

Efficiency Factors of Singlet Oxygen Generation from Core-Modified Expanded Porphyric : Tetrathiarubyrin in Ethanol

  • The photophysical properties and the singlet oxygen generation efficiency of tetrathiarubyrin have been investigated to elucidate the possibility of its use as a photodynamic therapy (PDT) photosensitizer by steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopic methods. The observed photophysical properties were affected by various molecular aspects, such as extended ${\pi}conjugation$, structural distortion, and internal heavy atom. The steady-state electronic absorption spectrum was red-shifted due to the extended $\pi-conjugation$, and the spin orbital coupling was enhanced by the structural distortion and the internal heavy atom effect. As a result of the enhanced spin orbital coupling, the triplet quantum yield increased to 0.90 $\pm$ 0.10 and the triplet state lifetime was shortened to 7.0 $\pm$ 1.2 ${\mu}s$. Since the triplet state decays at a relatively faster rate, the efficiency of the oxygen quenching of the triplet state decreases. The singlet oxygen quantum yield was estimated to be 0.52 $\pm$ 0.02, which is somewhat lower than expected. On the other hand, the efficiency of singlet oxygen generation during the oxygen quenching of triplet state, $f{\Delta}^T$, is near unity. Such high efficiency of singlet oxygen generation can be explained by the following two possible factors: The hydrogen bonding of ethanol which impedes the deactivation pathway of the charge transfer complex with oxygen to the ground state, the less probability of the aggregation formation.

A Novel Iron(III) Complex with a Tridentate Ligand as a Functional Model for Catechol Dioxygenases: Properties and Reactivity of [Fe(BBA)DBC]$ClO_4$

  • [FeIII(BBA)DBC]ClO4 as a new functional model for catechol dioxygenases has been synthesized, where BBA is a bis(benzimidazolyl-2-methyl)amine and DBC is a 3,5-di-tert-butylcatecholate dianion.The BBA complex has a structuralfeature that iron cent er has a five-coordinate geometry similar to that of catechol dioxygenase-substrate complex.The BBA complex exhibits strong absorptionbands at 560 and 820 nm in CH3CN which are assigned to catecholate to Fe(III) charge transfer transitions. It also exhibits EPR signals at g = 9.3 and 4.3 which are typical values for the high-spin FeIII (S = 5/2) complex with rhombicsymmetry. Interestingly, the BBA complex reacts with O2 within an hour to afford intradiol cleavage (35%) and extradiol cleavage (60%) products. Surprisingly, a green color intermediate is observed during the oxygenation process of the BBA com-plex in CH3CN. This green intermediate shows a broad isotropic EPR signal at g = 2.0. Based on the variable temperature EPR study, this isotropic signalmight be originated from the [Fe(III)-peroxo-catecholate] species havinglow-spin FeIII center, not from the simple organic radical. Consequently,it allows O2 to bind to iron cen-ter forming the Fe(III)-superoxide species that converts to the Fe(III)-peroxide intermediate. These present data can lead us tosuggest that the oxygen activation mechanism take place for the oxidative cleavingcatechols of the five-coordinate model systems for catechol dioxygenases.

초 연자성 박막에서의 동적 자화 거동 (Dynamic Responses in Ultra-Soft Magnetic Thin Films)

  • 본 연구에서는 초 연자성(ultra-soft magnetic) 비정질 박막에서 관찰되는 감쇄가 큰(overdamped) 고주파 자기특성의 원인을 이해함으로써 자기 스핀의 동적 자화거동을 확인하고자한다. 고주파에서의 자화율(susceptibility) 특성곡선에 대한 실험결과와 Gilbert의 운동방정식으로 부터의 계산 결과를 비교하여 초 연자성 박막의 겨우 $\alpha=20$ 정도의 큰 감쇄상수와 무시할 정도로 작은 $D_{x}{\approx}D_{y}{\approx}D_{z}{\approx}0$의 반자장 계수를 구하였다. 이 결과로 부터 불균일 박막의 자화율 특성곡선과 자기 스핀의 동적 자화거동을 설 명하기 위해 vortex 형상의 자화분포를 제안하였다. Vortex형 자화분포는 초 연자성 박막 내의 미세한 자성입자들에서의 안정된 스핀 분포로 형성되며, vortex의 불균일한 스핀운동은 스핀파로 부터의 에너지와 박막내 결함구조와의 상호작용에 의해 큰 감쇄를 갖는 것으로 설명되었다.

  • 유기 리간드(2,2,6,6-테트라메틸-3,5-헵탄내디온)을 란탄나이드 3가$(Pr^{3+}, Eu^{3+}, Gd^{3+} 그리고 Yb^{3+})$와의 착물들에 대한 거동을 UV-Vis 분광학적, 자기적, 그리고 전기화학적 방법에 의해 조사하였다. 2 또는 3개의 에너지 흡수띠가 이들 착물들의 스펙트라에 의해 관찰되었다. 결정장 갈라짐 에너지 크기와 스핀 또는 3개의 에너지 흡수띠가 이들 착물들의 스펙트라에 의해 관찰되었다. 결정장 갈라짐 에너지 크기와 스핀 짝지움 에너지 그리고 결합세기는 착물들의 스펙트라로부터 얻어졌다. 이들은 편재화이고, 낮은 스핀(또는 높은 스핀) 상태이며 그리고 강한 결합세기임을 알았다. 착물들의 거동은 비수용매속에서 순환전압전류법에 의해 관찰하였다. 이들 환원피크는 전자전이에 의한 2 또는 3단계의 비가역성이었다.

Concepts for Domain Wall Motion in Nanoscale Ferromagnetic Elements due to Spin Torque and in Particular Oersted Fields

  • Herein, different concepts for domain wall propagation based on currents and fields that could potentially be used in magnetic data storage devices based on domains and domain walls are reviewed. By direct imaging, we show that vortex and transverse walls can be displaced using currents due to the spin transfer torque effect. For the case of field-induced wall motion, particular attention is paid to the influence of localized fields and local heating on the depinning and propagation of domain walls. Using an Au nanowire adjacent to a permalloy structure with a domain wall, the depinning field of the wall, when current pulses are injected into the Au nanowire, was studied. The current pulse drastically modified the depinning field, which depended on the interplay between the externally applied field direction and polarity of the current, leading subsequently to an Oersted field and heating of the permalloy at the interface with the Au wire. Placing the domain wall at various distances from the Au wire and studying different wall propagation directions, the range of Joule heating and Oersted field was determined; both effects could be separated. Approaches beyond conventional field- and current-induced wall displacement are briefly discussed.

  • To achieve high-performance colloidal quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs), the use of a densely packed QD film is crucial to prevent the formation of leakage current pathways and increase in interface resistance. Spin coating is the most common method to deposit QDs; however, this method often produces pinholes that can act as short-circuit paths within devices. Since state-of-the-art QD-LEDs typically employ mono- or bi-layer QDs as an emissive layer because of their low conductivities, the use of a densely packed and pinhole-free QD film is essential. Herein, we introduce the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique as a deposition method for the fabricate densely packed QD films in QD-LEDs. The LB technique successfully transfers a highly dense monolayer of QDs onto the substrate, and multilayer deposition is performed by repeating the transfer process. To validate the comparability of the LB technique with the standard QD-LED fabrication process, we fabricate and compare the performance of LB-based QD-LEDs to that of the spin-coating-based device. Owing to the non-destructiveness of the LB technique, the electroluminescence efficiency of the LB-based QD-LEDs is similar to that of the standard spin coating-based device. Thus, the LB technique is promising for use in optoelectronic applications.

Depiction of Acute Stroke Using 3-Tesla Clinical Amide Proton Transfer Imaging: Saturation Time Optimization Using an in vivo Rat Stroke Model, and a Preliminary Study in Human

  • Purpose: To optimize the saturation time and maximizing the pH-weighted difference between the normal and ischemic brain regions, on 3-tesla amide proton transfer (APT) imaging using an in vivo rat model. Materials and Methods: Three male Wistar rats underwent middle cerebral artery occlusion, and were examined in a 3-tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. APT imaging acquisition was performed with 3-dimensional turbo spin-echo imaging, using a 32-channel head coil and 2-channel parallel radiofrequency transmission. An off-resonance radiofrequency pulse was applied with a Sinc-Gauss pulse at a $B_{1,rms}$ amplitude of $1.2{\mu}T$ using a 2-channel parallel transmission. Saturation times of 3, 4, or 5 s were tested. The APT effect was quantified using the magnetization-transfer-ratio asymmetry at 3.5 ppm with respect to the water resonance (APT-weighted signal), and compared with the normal and ischemic regions. The result was then applied to an acute stroke patient to evaluate feasibility. Results: Visual detection of ischemic regions was achieved with the 3-, 4-, and 5-s protocols. Among the different saturation times at $1.2{\mu}T$ power, 4 s showed the maximum difference between the ischemic and normal regions (-0.95%, P = 0.029). The APTw signal difference for 3 and 5 s was -0.9% and -0.7%, respectively. The 4-s saturation time protocol also successfully depicted the pH-weighted differences in an acute stroke patient. Conclusion: For 3-tesla turbo spin-echo APT imaging, the maximal pH-weighted difference achieved when using the $1.2{\mu}T$ power, was with the 4 s saturation time. This protocol will be helpful to depict pH-weighted difference in stroke patients in clinical settings.

연구자의 창업의지를 중심으로 살펴본 연구소기업 설립.운영의 효과 (The study on the impacts of the foundation and management of the Innopolis start-ups focusing on the entrepreneurial intention of researchers)

  • 연구소기업은 연구기반 스핀오프(research-based spin-offs)의 범주에 포함되지만 기술사업화 과정에서 일반적인 연구기반 스핀오프와는 구별되는 특징을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 연구자의 창업의지로 나타나는 기업가정신의 확산을 중심으로 연구소기업 설립 운영의 효과를 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 22개 연구소기업에 대한 심층 인터뷰 결과와 14개 공공연구기관 200명의 유효 응답자로부터 얻은 결과를 분석한다. 분석의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구소기업 설립 여부와 설립 건수 모두 연구자의 창업의지로 나타나는 기업가정신의 확산과 강화에 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구자의 개별 특성 측면에서는 연구자의 기술이전 여부 및 기술이전 건수가 창업의지에 영향을 주는 주요한 요인으로 나타났다. 셋째, 매출액, 고용창출, 연구개발 투자 등과 같은 경제적인 효과와 더불어 기업가정신의 확산과 강화를 연구소기업 설립 운영의 긍정적인 효과로 볼 수 있다. 기업가정신의 확장과 경제적 성과라는 측면에서 연구소기업이 가지고 있는 장점이 실제 연구소기업을 설립, 운영하는 과정에서 실현될 수 있는지를 검토함으로써 향후 연구소기업 설립 및 운영의 전반적인 방향을 설정하는데 유용한 자료를 제시하였다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의가 있다.
