Thermally Stable Photoreactive Polymers as a Color Filter Resist Bearing Acrylate and Cinnamate Double Bonds

  • Photoreactive polymers as a color filter resist containing both photoreactive acrylate and cinnamate double bonds were synthesized usin two step reactions. The chemical structures of the synthesized polymers were confirmed by $^1H$-NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. The photoreactive polymers were quite soluble in most common organic solvents and produced excellent quality thin films by spin-coating. The photocuring kinetics of the acrylate and cinnamate double bonds were examined by FT-IR and UV- Vis spectroscopy, which confirmed the excellent photoreactivity of both the acrylate and cinnamate double bonds in the polymers. Upon UV irradiation, photocuring was almost completed within approximately 5 min, irrespective of the type of the prepolymers. The polymers also exhibited superior thermal stability, showing little change in transmittance in the visible region even after heating to $250^{\circ}C$ for one hour. Photolithographic micropatterns could be obtained with a resolution of a few microns.

  • We investigated the effects of ZnO thin film deposition methods on the performance of inverted polymer solar cells with a structure of ITO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM/MoO3/Al. The ZnO thin films were deposited by various methods (spin coating of nanoparticles, sol-gel process, atomic layer deposition) and their morphology was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The device with ZnO nanoparticle thin films showed the highest power conversion efficiency of 3 % with low series resistance and high shunt resistance. The superior performance of the device with the ZnO nanoparticle layer is attributed to better electron extraction capability.

Dielectric and Electrical Properties of $Sr_{0.9}Bi_{2+x}Ta_2O_9$ Thin Films on $IrO_2$ Electrode ($IrO_2$를 하부전극으로 사용한 $Sr_{0.9}Bi_{2+x}Ta_2O_9$ 박막의 유전 및 전기적 특성)

  • Sr0.9Bi2+xTa2O9(x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) thin films on IrO2/SiO2/Si or Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate were prepared by spin coating method using SBT stock solutions synthesized by MOD process. SBT thin films on IrO2 transformed to layered perovskite phase at $700^{\circ}C$, but showed low breakdown voltage due to their porous microstructure. The smaple of Sr0.9Bi2+xTa2O9 composition showed the best dielectric and electrical properties. When the sample of the same composition was annealed at 80$0^{\circ}C$, the dielectric and electric properties were improved due to the grian growth and dense surface. the remanent polarization values(2Pr) at $\pm$3 V for IrO2 and Pt electrodes were 10.5, 7.15$\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively. The SBT thin film with IrO2 electrode showed the lower coercive field. The leakage current density and breakdown voltage of SBT thin films on IrO2 were higher than those on Pt.

Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2/BiVO4 Layered Films under Visible Light Irradiation

  • $TiO_2/BiVO_4$ layered films were prepared by sol-gel and spin coating methods. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Uv-vis spectroscopy were used to investigate the crystal structure, morphology and ultraviolet-visible absorption of the $TiO_2/BiVO_4$ films. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared films was inspected according to the degradation of methylene blue. The results show that the prepared films present a net chain structure; the absorption band edge had obvious red shift. The degradation of the methylene blue solution was about 80% after 300 mins using $TiO_2/BiVO_4$ layered films under visible light, which was stronger than when using only pure $TiO_2$ film and $BiVO_4$ film.

  • 나노-스피어 리소그래피는 기존 리소그래피 방법에 비해 나노 크기의 패턴을 저비용에 공정이 간단하고, 대면적 패터닝이 가능하다는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 나노-스피어 리소그래피 공정을 이용하여 실리콘 기판 위에 2차원 광자결정 구조를 제작하였다. 실리콘 기판 위에 직경이 500 nm 인 폴리스티렌 나노-스피어를 스핀 코팅 방법으로 단일막을 형성하였다. 스핀코팅 조건은 스핀속도와 시간을 조절하여 1단계는 400 rpm에서 10초, 2단계는 800 rpm에서 120초, 3 단계는 1400 rpm 에서 10초로 공정하였다. 그리고 산소 플라즈마를 이용한 반응성 이온 식각공정으로 폴리스티렌 나노-스피어의 크기를 조절할 수 있었으며, 이때 실리콘 기판 위에 형성된 다양한 크기의 폴리스티렌 나노-스피어 단일막은 금속막 증착시 마스크의 역할을 하게 된다. 금속막의 증착은 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터링 시스템을 이용하였으며, 공정 조건은 RF power를 100W, 공정 압력을 5 mTorr, Ar 유량을 10sccm으로 하였다. 스퍼터링 공정 후 폴리스티렌 나노-스피어를 제거함으로써 2 차원 광자결정 구조를 제작할 수 있었다. 실험 결과 단일막으로 형성된 폴리스티렌 나노-스피어의 크기를 조절함으로써 다양한 2차원 광자결정 구조 제작이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 무기EL 디스플레이는 고체재료에 전계를 가했을 때 발광하는 현상을 이용한소자로서, 급속도로 발전을 거듭하고 있으나, 유전체층에 강한전계를 가하여 발광하여야 하므로 낮은 Breakdown voltage와 효율의 한계로 인하여 휘도가 낮고 풀 컬러화 디스플레이 등 의 응용에는 적용되고 있지 못하는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 강유전체 Perovskite 구조를 가지는 ABO3 물질 중 PMN(Lead Magnesium niobate) 과 PZT (Lead Zirconate titanate) 후막을 제조하여 Inorganic EL(Electro Luminance)에 적용하고 소자의 광전특성을 평가하였다. 소자에 사용된 기판은 고온소성에 알맞은 알루미나(Al2O3)기판을 채택 하였으며, 그 위 하부전극으로는 고온소성에 따른 화학적 안정성이 우수한 Au전극을 Screen Printing 하였다. 제조 되어진 PMN후막 페이스트는 PMN(Pb(Mg1/2 Nb2/3)O3) + Glass Frit(Pb-Zn-B) + BaTiO3(99.99%) 로 합성되었으며 하부전극위에 인쇄하였다. 그 다음 PZT sol-gel을 Spin coating으로 도포 하였다. 형광체로 ZnS:Cu.Cl 을 Screen Printing을로 형성하였으며, 평탄화를 위하여 유기물 충을 Screen Printing 공정으로 성막 하였다. 상부전극으로는 DC sputter로 ITO를 증착하여 EL소자 완성 후 Spectro - Chroma meter로 소자특성을 측정하였다. 평탄화를 통한 유기물층에 변화되는 Capacitance를 Oscilloscope로 전압 전류 pulse의 변화에 따른 opto-electronic 특성을 평가하였다.

Solution-Processed Indium Oxide Transistors

  • $In_2O_3$ thin-film transistors (TFTs) were fabricated on various dielectrics [$SiO_2$ and self-assembled nanodielectrics (SANDs)] by spin-coating a $In_2O_3$ film precursor solution consisting of methoxyethanol (solvent), ethanolamine (EAA, base), and $InCl_3$ as the $In^{3+}$ source. Importantly, an optimized film microstructure characterized by the high-mobility $In_2O_3$ 004 phase, is obtained only within a well-defined base: $In^{3+}$ molar ratio. The greatest electron mobilities of ~ 44 $cm^2$, for EAA:$In^{3+}$ molar ratio = 10, $V^{-1}s^{-1}$, is measured for $n^+$-Si/SAND/$In_2O_3$/Au devices. This result combined with the high $I_{on}:I_{off}$ ratios of ~ $10^6$ and very low operating voltages (< 5 V) is encouraging for high-speed applications.

Organic TFT fabricated on ultra-thin flexible plastic with a rigid glass support

  • We have fabricated pentacene OTFT on ultra-thin flexible polyimide film with a rigid glass support. Polyimide film of the thickness of $10{\mu}m$ has formed on glass by spin coating from the solution. After the entire OTFT process, the OTFT exhibited a fieldeffect mobility of $0.4\;cm^2/Vs$, an $I_{on}/I_{off}$ ratio of $10^7$ and a subthreshold swing of 0.7 V/dec. The OTFT on polyimide film has been detached from the glass support and laminated on a plastic support of $130\;{\mu}m-thick$ PET film. After the detach process, in spite of the degrading of its field-effect mobility, the OTFT showed high $I_{on}/I_{off}$ as high $as{\sim}10^6$.

Ferroelectric Properties of Bi3.25La0.75Ti3O12 Thin Films with Various Drying Temperature for FRAM Applications (FRAM 응용을 위한 건조온도에 따른 BLT 박막의 강유전 특성)

  • Ferroelectric lanthanum-substituted Bi$_4$Ti$_3$O$_{12}$(BLT) thin films were fabricated by spin-coating onto a Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate by metalorganic decomposition technique. The grain size in BLT thin films were prepared with controlled by various drying process. The effect of grain size on the crystallization and ferroelectric properties were investigated by x-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscope. The dependence of crystallization and electrical properties are related to the grain size in BLT thin films with different drying temperature. The remanent polarization of BLT thin film increases with the increasing grain size. The value of 2P$_{r}$ and E$_{c}$ of BLT thin film dried at 45$0^{\circ}C$ were 25.9 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 85 kV/cm, respectively. The BLT thin film with larger grain size has better fatigue properties. The fatigue properties revealed that small grained film showed more degradation of switching charge than large grained films.lms.s.

Unfolded Histidine-Tagged Protein is Immobilized to Nitrilotriacetic Acid-Nickel Beads, But Not the Nickel-Coated Glass Slide

  • The adsorption of proteins on the surface of glass slides is essential for construction of protein chips. Previously, we prepared a nickel-coated plate by the spin-coating method for immobilization of His-tagged proteins. In order to know whether the structural factor is responsible for the immobilization of His-tagged proteins to the nickel-coated glass slide, we executed a series of experiments. First we purified a His-tagged protein after expressing the vector in E. coli BL21 (DE3). Then we obtained the unfolding curve for the His-tagged protein by using guanidine hydrochloride. Fractions unfolded were monitored by internal fluorescence spectroscopy. The ${\Delta}G_{H20}$ for unfolding was $2.27kcal/mol{/pm}0.52$. Then we tested if unfolded His-tagged proteins can be adsorbed to the nickel-coated plate, comparing with $Ni^{2+}-NTA$ (nitrilotriacetic acid) beads. Whereas unfolded His-tagged proteins were adsorbed to $Ni^{2+}-NTA$ beads, they did not bind to the nickel-coated plate. In conclusion, a structural factor is likely to be an important factor for constructing the protein chips, when His-tagged proteins will immobilize to the nickel-coated slides.
