척추질환자의 요통사정을 위한 통증행위 관찰법의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검정 (Reliability and Validity of the Behavioral Observation Method for Assessing Low Back Pain in Patients with Spinal Diseases)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the observed behaviors of subjects who suffered from low back pain with spinal diseases, Thirty two low back pain patients admitted on the neurosurgical unit in an army hospital were compared with 30 normal controls belonged to an army unit, by means of matching the age, hight and weight. Observed pain behaviors were developed by the researcher on the bases of literature and patient observation. This tool consists of 18 behaviors seperated into two major groups : mutually exclusive and concomittent behaviors. The mutually exclusive behaviors included coding cathegories for 6. body motions assumed by the subjects during the observation session. These 6 standardized motions consisted of sitting from standing first, and serially tying down, reclining, sitting again, and then standing, 6 steps walking. Concomittent behaviors consisted of 12 observable patterns that can be observed systematically from the face, grimacing, bracing, rubbing, walking with arms fixed, support with hands on sitting or standing, guarded movement, limping, unbalaced weightbearing, stopped movement from tying position to sitting, sighing and graoning. Subjects were videotrecorded as they performed a 6-standardized sequence of motions, simultanously researcher measured the time spent performing each motion and step length. Patients were asked torate their subjective pain score on the 10 mm graphic rating scale ranging from 'no pain' to 'sever pain'. For scoring of the pain behaviors, two trained nursing officiers independently and simutanously viewwd each videorecording and checked subject 'pain behaviors at the observational item checklist. The result of the study are summarized as follows : 1. Reability of the observational tool was a=.845. 2. Spearman's rho and percentage agreement were p=.97 and 81.7 persent respectively, that indicate adequate interrater reability of this tool. 3. The sensitivity rate of the tool was .875 while specificity rate .866 for differentiating patient from the normal. 4. When difference in the objective pain indices between patient group and control were compared, there was significant difference of all indices, such as pain behavior(t=7.71, p=.0001). spent time performing motion(t=14.2, p=.0001), step length (t=-10.72, p=.0001). 5. There were differences in the objective indices the subjective pain subgroups (low, medium, high). Differences in the mean score of objective pain behavior (F=6.376. p=.005) and spent time for moyion(F=4.631, p=.018). But there were no significant differences in the step length among the subgroups(F=.667, p=.521). 6. Highly correlated pain behavior items wiyh subjective pain score were 'stopped movement from lying position to sitting', 'limping', 'support with hands on sitting or standing', 'bracing', 'guarding' and 'walking with arms fixed'. In summary, although some of rho behavior items such as sighing and groaning in this study could not be observed because of videotaped datd, the reliability and validity of the over all observation method were satifactory. Thus, the results of the present study demonstrate rye potetional utility of the tool in assessing objective pain complementing self-reported pain in low back pain patients.

전기화학적 방법을 이용한 Spent Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)의 재생 연구 (A Study of the Regeneration of Spent GAC using an Electrochemical Method)

  • 본 연구는 CSOs의 고도처리를 목적으로 다단 횡류식 여과와 GAC 흡착조의 융합공정의 운영에서 GAC 흡착조의 유기물 처리 특성을 조사하고 설계 파과점에 도달한 GAC를 전기화학적 방법을 통한 재생효율을 평가하는 것이다. 여과공정은 부유물질은 용이하게 제거되지만 용존 유기물이 제거되지 않아 CSOs의 고도처리를 위해서는 용존유기물질의 제거능이 추가로 필요하다. 일반적으로 GAC 흡착은 정수처리 공정이나 하수의 3차 처리공정과 같은 저농도 유기물 조건에서 적용되어왔고 하수나 CSOs와 같이 유기물 농도가 높은 조건에서는 거의 적용이 되지 않았기에 본 연구에서 GAC를 이용한 CSOs 처리는 흥미로운 경험을 제공할 것이다. 본 연구는 유입 유기물 강도에 따른 GAC의 연속 운전 및 파과 특성을 조사하고 사용된 GAC를 전기화학적 재생을 적용하였으며, 이때 전압강도 및 전해액이 종류에 따른 흡착 유기물의 탈착 특성을 조사하였고 재생 후 GAC의 재흡착실험을 통해서 재생효율을 평가하였다. GAC 연속 운전결과 파과기간은 고농도 조건에서 21일, 중농도에서 28일 그리고 저농도에서 32일을 나타내었다. 전기분해를 통한 흡착 유기물의 탈착은 전기 분해 조건에 따라 188~609 mgCOD/L까지 발생하였고 전해액 종류의 영향은 NaOH가 H2O2보다 조금 우수한 탈착 특성을 나타냈다.

에이코사펜타인산이 돼지난포란의 체외 성숙에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Eicosapentaenoic Acid during In Vitro Maturation of Porcine Oocytes: Hormone Synthesis and Embryonic Developmental Potential)

  • Among fatty acid families, the polyunsaturated fatty acids were demonstrated to be mediators in various reproductive processes as precursor of steroid hormone (via cholesterol) and prostaglandins (via arachidonic acid), and in the last decade, major research was focused on the effects of omega-6 and especially omega-3 fatty acid. Eicosapentaenoic acid, the longest members of omega-3 fatty acid family, can be produced by a series of desaturation and elongation reactions from shorter member such as α-Linolenic acid. However, very few studies have provided detailed descriptions of Eicosapentaenoic acid effects and mechanisms of action in mammalian oocytes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Eicosapentaenoic acid supplementation on in vitro maturation and developmental potential of porcine oocytes. Various concentrations of Eicosapentaenoic acid was added into in vitro maturation medium, and we evaluated the degree of cumulus expansion, nuclear maturation rate, blastocysts quality, and levels of prostaglandin E2, 17β-estradiol, progesterone in the spent medium. High doses (100 μM) of Eicosapentaenoic acid supplementation significantly inhibited cumulus expansion and oocyte nuclear maturation, and prostaglandin E2 synthesis also significantly decreased compared with other groups (p < 0.05). Supplementation of 50 μM Eicosapentaenoic acid showed higher quality blastocysts in terms of high cell numbers and low apoptosis when compared with other groups (p < 0.05), and synthesis ratio of E2/P4 also significantly increased compared with control group (p < 0.05). However, Supplementation of 100 μM Eicosapentaenoic acid showed high apoptosis when compared with other groups (p < 0.05), and synthesis ratio of 17β-estradiol/progesterone also significantly decreased compared with control group (p < 0.05). Our results indicated that supplementation with appropriate levels of Eicosapentaenoic acid beneficially affects the change of hormone synthesis for controlling oocyte maturation, leading to improved embryo quality. However, high doses of Eicosapentaenoic acid treatment results in detrimental effects.

Effects of Essential Fatty Acids during In Vitro Maturation of Porcine Oocytes: Hormone Synthesis and Embryonic Developmental Potential

  • Omega-3 α-linolenic acid and omega-6 linoleic acid are essential fatty acids for health maintenance of human and animals because they are not synthesized in vivo. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of α-linolenic acid and linoleic acid supplementation on in vitro maturation and developmental potential of porcine oocytes. Various concentrations of α-linolenic acid and linoleic acid were added into in vitro maturation medium, and we evaluated the degree of cumulus expansion, oocyte nuclear-maturation rate, blastocyst rate, blastocyst quality, and levels of prostaglandin E2, 17β-estradiol, and progesterone in the spent medium. However, high doses of α-linolenic acid and linoleic acid treatment results in detrimental effects.

저혈청 배지에서 생산된 scu-PA의 tc-PA로의 전환에 관한 연구 (Kinetics of Converting Single Chain Urokinase Type Plasminogen Activator into Two Chain Plasminogen Activator in Cultivating HEK Cells with Low Serum Containing Medium)

  • HEK 세포 배양액 중에 존재하는 scu-PA와 tc-PA의 보다 정확한 측정을 위해 fibrin plate법과 기존의 amidolytic 방법을 변형시킨 측정법을 이용했다. 1%의 저혈청 배지를 이용한 T-flask 배양에서 $1.65{\times}10^6$(viable cells/ml)의 최대 세포수에 도달하여 1670(IU/ml)의 scu-PA 생산량을 보였으며 평균 10% 미만이 변환율을 보였다. 또한 Spinner vessel에서의 회분배양시 최대 세포수가 $4.43{\times}10^6(total cells/ml)$ 와 1560(IU/ml)의 scu-PA 생산량을 나타냈으며 평균 11.4%의 변환율을 보였다. 연속배양에서는 0.449(1/day)의 비생육속도와 $3.13{\times}10^{-4}(IU/cell)$의 비생산속도를 보였으며 평균 10.18% 정도의 전환율을 보였다. 이는 회분식 및 유가식 배양 결과와 큰 차이가 없으며 배양공정에 관계없이 약 90% 이상의 회수율이 가능하다는 것을 의미한다.

정부 연구개발 보조금의 기업자체 R&D투자에 대한 효과 분석 - 2000년 이후 국내기업 사례를 중심으로 - (The effects of Government R&D subsidies on Private R&D investment - The case of Korean industry after 2000 -)

  • 이 논문은 2000년 이후 R&D분야의 정부 연구개발 직접보조금이 기업의 연구개발 투자를 진작 또는 대체 시키는지 여부 및 기업유형별 정부의 보조금 효과가 달라지는가에 대해 Difference-in-Differences (DTD) 모형을 이용하여 실증적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 정부의 연구개발 보조수혜는 기업 연구개발 투자를 평균적으로 13.9%증가시키는 보완적 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 보조금의 액수가 1% 증가할 때 기업의 자체개발 연구비는 평균적으로 0.031% 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 기업유형별로는 대기업의 경우 보다 강력한 보완효과가 나타났으나 벤처기업이나 중소 기업의 경우는 정부보조금지원이 연구개발비 확대를 초래했다는 실증적 증거를 발견하지 못하였다.

Lactobacillus acidophilus와 Saccharomyces uvarum의 혼합배양에 의한 두유의 발효 중 당이용에 미치는 작용 (Interaction between Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces uvarum on Utilization of Galacto-oligosaccharides in Soymilk)

  • S. uvarum KFCC 32021의 발효여액은 10% 농도에서 L. acidophilus KFCC 12731의 산생성 및 생육을 촉진하였으나 촉진작용은 10$0^{\circ}C$에서 10분간의 열처리에 의해 실활되었다. 또한 이 여액은 두유의 sucrose, raffinose 및 stachyose 등의 과당류를 분해하여 단당류의 함량을 증가시켰다. L. acidophilus KFCC 12731의 24시간 단독배양에서 두유의 단당류는 전량 소비되었으나 과당류는 거의 선량 잔존하였다. S. uvarum KFCC 32021의 단독배양에서는 단당류, sucrose 및 vaffinose는 완전 소비되었고, stachyose는 일부 잔존되고 manninotriose가 축적되었다. 혼합발효에서의 당소비유형은 S. uvarum의 단독배양에서와 유사하였다. 이상의 결과로 혼합배양에서 S. uvarum KFCC 32021은 두유의 과당류를 L. acidophilus KFCC 12731이 이용할 수 있는 단당류로 분해시켜 줌으로써 발효액의 산생성을 촉진시키는 것으로 보인다.

LiCl 용융염에서 NiO를 혼합한 희토류 산화물의 파이로 전해환원 특성 (Pyro-Electrochemical Reduction of a Mixture of Rare Earth Oxides and NiO in LiCl molten Salt)

  • LiCl 용융염에서 희토류 산화물의환원율을 높이기 위해 NiO와 혼합하여 전해환원을실시하였다. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) 실험을 통해 LiCl 용융염 내에서 혼합산화물의 전기화학적 환원거동을 조사하였다. 혼합산화물로 제작된 환원전극과 그라파이트 산화전극 사이에 일정한 작동전압을 인가하여 이론전하량 대비 다양한 전하량을 공급한 후 중간생성물의 결정구조를 XRD를 이용하여 분석하였다. NiO 산화물을 첨가함으로써 전기전도성이 좋은 Ni 금속 주위로 희토류 산화물이 환원되어 RE-Ni 합금형태의 금속으로 완전히 전환되었으며, 합금을 형성하는 반응 메커니즘을 제시하였다.

임부의 산전진찰 의료이용양상 및 진료비 분석 (Prenatal care utilization and expenditure among pregnant women)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the prenatal heath care utilization and expenditure among pregnant women. Method: This was a 5-month follow-up study using a stratified sampling and the data were drawn from the "nationwide claim database of Korean National Health Insurance Corporation". Result: This study found that pregnant women were first diagnosed with pregnancy when they were 7.1 weeks pregnant, received 12.7 times of prenatal examinations and 10.6 times of ultrasonogram. It was revealed that 67.5% of the subjects continued to receive prenatal care at the same medical institutions from the diagnosis of pregnancy to the delivery. The study also showed that the total expenditure of prenatal care per pregnant woman was 700,000 Korean Won (KRW) on average and the insurance coverage rate stood at only 20%. Pregnant women living in metropolitan area spent more on prenatal healthcare expenditure than those who living in medium-sized city or rural area. Conclusion: The results of this study implies that the government needs to provide pregnant women with continuous support by increasing health insurance coverage for prenatal care. Especially, it is considered to provide more support to the pregnant women residing in medically underserved areas.

Crystal Phase Changes of Zeolite in Immobilization of Waste LiCI Salt

  • The electrolytic reduction process and the electrorefining process, which are being developed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), are to generate molten waste salts such as LiCI salt and LiCI-KCI eutectic salt, respectively. Our goal in waste salt management is to minimize a total waste generation and fabricate a very low­leaching waste form such as a ceramic waste form. Zeolite has been known to one of the most desirable media to immobilize waste salt, which is water soluble and easily radiolyzed. Zeolite can be also used to the removal of fission products from the spent waste salt. Molten LiCI salt is mixed with zeolite A at $650^{\circ}C$ to form a salt-loaded zeolite, and then thermally treated in above $900^{\circ}C$ to become an immobilized product with crystal phase of $Li_{8}Cl_{2}$-Sodalite. In this work, a crystal phase changes of immobilization medium, zeolite, during immobilization of molten LiCI salt using zeolite A is introduced.
