This paper addresses the adaptive controller for efficiency optimization of induction motors. The paper describes an adaptive controller based on-line efficiency optimization control of a drive that uses a direct vector controlled induction motors. To improve the efficiency of the induction motors, it is important to find the optimal flux reference that minimize power loss. The proposed optimal flux reference is derived using a power loss function that is constructed with stator resistance losses, rotor resistance losses and core losses. The proposed sliding mode flux observer generates estimates the unmeasured rotor fluxes. An optimal efficiency controller has goal of maximizing the efficiency for a given speed and load torque. A simulation shows the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
For shift quality improvement, torque sensors are currently too expensive to be used on production vehicles. To achieve smooth acceleration shift, the reference trajectory of the clutch slip speed for accomplishing the shift process within a designated shift completion time and its relationship with the clutch actuating torque were suggested by Jeong and Lee (1999). In order to facilitate the proposed algorithm, nonlinear estimators for necessary information such as the axle shaft torque, clutch friction and turbine torque were designed using only speed sensors. Accounting for the modeling error, a control law for this indirect smooth shift was proposed based on the above mentioned suggestions. Simulation results of the proposed estimators and shift controller were presented and further considerations for practical applications are discussed.

This paper propose a variable parameter estimations of five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM) for speed control system. In order to high performance control of AC motor using a field oriented control(FOC) and direct torque control(DTC) algorithm, there are required precise motor parameters for slip calculation, flux observer, controller gain, rotor position, speed estimation, and so on. We are suggest a analyzed estimation results of the motor parameters that developing five-phase squirrel-cage IM have a stator of concentrated winding for experimental of variable input power frequency. There are results of stator winding test, no-load test, locked-rotor test, variable actual load test, and estimated parameters of equivalent circuits using manufactured experimental apparatus by IEEE Standard Test Procedure for Polyphase Induction Motors and Generators 112-2004.

In this study, to control the heading angle of a ship, which is constantly subjected to various internal and external disturbances during the voyage, an LADRC (linear active disturbance rejection control) design that focuses more on improving the disturbance removal performance was proposed. The speed rate of change of the ship's heading angle due to the turn of the rudder angle was selected as a significant factor, and the nonlinear model of the ship's maneuvering equation, including the steering gear, was treated as a total disturbance. It is the similar process with an LADRC design for the first-order transfer function model. At this time, the gains of the controller included in LADRC and the gains of the extended state observer were tuned to RCGAs (real-coded genetic algorithms) to minimize the integral time-weighted absolute error as an evaluation function. The simulation was performed by applying the proposed GA-LADRC controller to the heading angle control of the Mariner class vessel. In particular, it was confirmed that the proposed controller satisfactorily maintains and follows the set course even when the disturbances such as nonlinearity, modelling error, uncertainty and noise of the measurement sensor are considered.

This paper proposes a robust digital speed regulator for a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor(SPMSM). The proposed speed controller uses a simple digital load disturbance resistance scheme which does not require a load torque observer, so it can be easily and simply implemented without degrading the control performance. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm, experimental results as well as simulation results are shown under motor parameter variations using a prototype SPMSM driving system. Finally, it was confirmed that the proposed method can precisely regulate the speed of the SPMSM.

To implement an automatic picking system (APS) in distribution center with high precision and high dynamics, this paper presents a high gain observer-based robust speed controller design for a linear induction motor (LIM) drive. The force disturbance as well as the mechanical parameter variations such as the mass and friction coefficient gives a direct influence on the speed control performance of APS. To guarantee a robust control performance, the system uncertainty caused by the force disturbance and mechanical parameter variations is estimated through a high gain disturbance observer and compensated by a feedforward manner. While a time-varying disturbance due to the mass variation can not be effectively compensated by using the conventional disturbance observer, the proposed scheme shows a robust performance in the presence of such uncertainty. A Simulink library has been developed for the LIM model from the state equation. Through comparative simulations based on Matlab - Simulink, it is proved that the proposed scheme has a robust control nature and is most suitable for APS.

SFFS(Solid Freeform Fabrication System) can quickly makes models and prototype parts from 3D computer-aided design (CAD) data. Three dimensional printing(3DP) is a kind of the solid freeform fabrication. The 3DP process slices the modeling data into the 50-200um along to z axis. And we pile the powder and make the manufactures. A manufacture is made by the SFFS has the precision of the 50um. Therefore the x-y table of SFFS to move a printhead must be the system that has a high speed and accuracy. So we proposed the SMCSPO algorithm for SFFS. The major contribution is the design of a robust observer for estimating the state and the perturbation of the timing belt system, which is combined with a robust controller. The control performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with PD control by the simulation and the experiment. The control algorithm of the SFFS is presented in the office environment. The system between control system and printhead for the SFFS is also integrated

This paper introduces a new rotor position estimation algorithm for the Switched Reluctance Motor, based on the magnetizing curves only at aligned and unaligned rotor positions. The flux linkage is calculated by measured data from phase voltage and phase current, and calculated data are used as the input of magnetizing profiles for rotor position detection. The fuzzy flux observer using novel knowledge-based fuzzy controller are presented to achieve sensorless control of the SRM. The method for selecting optimal angle is proposed for the rotor position detection. The robustness of the proposed algorithm is proved through the comparison of the simulation and experimental results.
A predictive functional control (PFC) scheme for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo systems is proposed in this paper. The PFC-based method is first introduced in the control design of speed loop. Since the accuracy of the PFC model is influenced by external disturbances and speed detection quantization errors of the low distinguishability optical encoder in servo systems, it is noted that the standard PFC method does not achieve satisfactory results in the presence of strong disturbances. This paper adopted the Kalman filter to observe the load torque, the rotor position and the rotor angular velocity under the condition of a limited precision encoder. The observations are then fed back into PFC model to rebuild it when considering the influence of perturbation. Therefore, an improved PFC method, called the PFC+Kalman filter method, is presented, and a high performance PMSM servo system was achieved. The validity of the proposed controller was tested via experiments. Excellent results were obtained with respect to the speed trajectory tracking, stability, and disturbance rejection.
A stable adaptive sensorless speed controller for three-level inverter fed induction motor direct torque control (DTC) system using the radial-basis function network (RBFN) is presented in this paper. Torque ripple in the DTC system for high power induction motor could be drastically reduced with the foregoing researches of switching voltage selection and torque ripple reduction algorithms. However, speed control performance is still influenced by the inherent uncertainty of the system such as parametric uncertainty, external load disturbances and unmodeled dynamics, and its exact mathematical model is much difficult to be obtained due to their strong nonlinearity. In this paper, the inherent uncertainty is approximated on-line by the RBFN, and an additional robust control term is introduced to compensate for the reconstruction error of the RBFN instead of the rich number of rules and additional updated parameters. Control law for stabilizing the system and adaptive laws for updating both of weights in the RBFN and a bounding constant are established so that the whole closed-loop system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov, and the stability proof of the whole control system is presented. Computer simulations as well as experimental results are presented to show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed system.
