Ground response analysis has been conducted for each borehole data in Pohang area, using 1D equivalent linear method program, to investigate the applicability of amplification factor to estimate peak ground acceleration. Earthquake motions for ground response analysis were prepared by matching response spectrums for return period of 500, 1000, and 2400 years suggested by seismic design code (MOIS, 2017). Ground survey data were acquired from Geotechnical Information DB System. It has been confirmed that response spectrum obtained from ground response analysis showed good agreement with those from seismic design code irrespective of ground classification. However, PGA (Peak Ground Accelerations) of ground response analysis did not coincide with PGA calculated using amplification factor suggested by seismic design code.

In this paper, we describe a solution to improve the effects of the transmitter leakage signals on the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar with a single antenna configuration. We analyze characteristics of the IF noise caused by insufficient isolation between transmitter and receiver. The magnitude of the intermediate frequency (IF) noise from a front-end can be reduced by matching the LO signal delay time with that of the largest leakage source. Because the IF noise has periodic singularities at nT$_{m}$/2, t=0,1,2$\cdots$, we find that spectrum of the IF noise due to the leakage signals is very similar to that of the VCO moduation signal except low frequency elements in the vicinity of DC. Based on the studies, we fabricated a W-band homodyne FMCW radar sensor and verified the proposed solution. The results are applicable to design of the homodyne FMCW radar with a single antenna configuration.
In this paper, a Performance Based Design (PBD) approach is validated for multi-storey concentrically braced frame (CBF) systems. Direct Displacement Based Design (DDBD) procedure is used and validated by designing 4- and 12-storey CBF buildings. Nonlinear time history analysis (NLTHA) is used to check the performance of the design methodology by employing different accelerograms having displacement spectra matching the design displacement spectrum. Displacements and drifts obtained from NLTHA are found to fall within the design displacement limits used in the DDBD procedure. In NLTHA, both tension and compression members are found to be resisting the base shear, $F_b$, not only the tension members as assumed in the design methodology and suggested by Eurocode 8. This is the reason that the total $F_b$ in NLTHA is found to be greater than the design shear forces. Furthermore, it is found that the average of the maximum ductility values recorded from the time history analyses for the 4-and 12-storey buildings are close to the design ductility obtained from the DDBD methodology and ductility expressions established by several researchers. Moreover, the DDBD is compared to the Forced Based Design (FBD) methodology for CBFs. The comparison is carried out by designing 4 and 12-storey CBF buildings using both DDBD and FBD methodologies. The performance for both methodologies is verified using NLTHA. It is found that the $F_b$ from FBD is larger than $F_b$ obtained from DDBD. This leads to the use of larger sections for the structure designed by FBD to resist the lateral forces.

Optical resonances of metallic or dielectric nanoantennas enable to effectively convert free-propagating electromagnetic waves to localized electromagnetic fields and vice versa. Plasmonic resonances of metal nanoantennas extremely modify the local density of optical states beyond the optical diffraction limit and thus facilitate highly-efficient light-emitting, nonlinear signal conversion, photovoltaics, and optical trapping. The leaky-mode resonances, or termed Mie resonances, allow dielectric nanoantennas to have a compact size even less than the wavelength scale. The dielectric nanoantennas exhibiting low optical losses and supporting both electric and magnetic resonances provide an alternative to their metallic counterparts. To extend the utility of metal and dielectric nanoantennas in further applications, e.g. metasurfaces and metamaterials, it is required to understand and engineer their scattering characteristics. At first, we characterize resonant plasmonic antenna radiations of a single-crystalline Ag nanowire over a wide spectral range from visible to near infrared regions. Dark-field optical microscope and direct far-field scanning measurements successfully identify the FP resonances and mode matching conditions of the antenna radiation, and reveal the mutual relation between the SPP dispersion and the far-field antenna radiation. Secondly, we perform a systematical study on resonant scattering properties of high-refractive-index dielectric nanoantennas. In this research, we examined Si nanoblock and electron-beam induced deposition (EBID) carbonaceous nanorod structures. Scattering spectra of the transverse-electric (TE) and transverse-magnetic (TM) leaky-mode resonances are measured by dark-field microscope spectroscopy. The leaky-mode resonances result a large scattering cross section approaching the theoretical single-channel scattering limit, and their wide tuning ranges enable vivid structural color generation over the full visible spectrum range from blue to green, yellow, and red. In particular, the lowest-order TM01 mode overcomes the diffraction limit. The finite-difference time-domain method and modal dispersion model successfully reproduce the experimental results.

Flat panel based digital radiography (DR) systems have recently become useful and important in the field of diagnostic radiology. For DRs with amorphous silicon photosensors, CsI(TI) is normally used as the scintillator, which produces visible light corresponding to the absorbed energy. The visible light photons are converted into an electric signal in the amorphous silicon photodiode. In order to produce good quality images, we need to understand the detailed behavior of DR detectors in radiation. We, therefore, investigated the relationship between DR outputs and X -ray in terms of absorbed energy, using the SPEC-78, X-ray energy spectrum model. We calculated the total filtration of X-ray equipment measuring air exposure and this value was used in the calculation of absorbed energy. The relationship between DR output and the absorbed energy of the X-ray was obtained by matching the absorbed energy with pixel values of real images under various conditions. It was found that the relationship between these two values was almost linear. The results were verified using phantoms made of water and aluminium. The pixel value of the phantom image was estimated and compared with previous results under various conditions. The estimated pixel value coincided with the results, although the effect of scattered photons introduced some errors.

Because satellite images include geometry distortions according to photographing conditions and sensor property, and their spatial and radiational resolution and spectrum resolution are different, it is so difficult to make a precise results of analysis. For comparing more than two images, the precise geometric corrections should be preceded because it necessary to eliminate systematic errors due to basic sensor information difference and non-systematic errors due to topographical undulations. In this study, we did sensor modeling using satellite sensor information to make a basic map of change detection for artificial topography. We eliminated the systematic errors which can be occurred in photographing conditions using GCP and DEM data. The Kompsat EOC images relief could be reduced by precise rectification method. Classifying images which was used for change detections by city and forest zone, the accuracy of the matching results are increased by 10% and the positioning accuracies also increased. The result of change detection using basic map could be used for basic data fur GIS application and topographical renovation.
There has been an increasing demand on measurement of the vibration levels in commercial truck shipments, where all packaged products are exposed to some levels of random vibration and shock. In this study, bear glass bottles loaded at the front, middle, and rear positions of 11 tonne truck bed was shipped from Kwangju to Waegouan. Vertical direction vibration levels were analysed and matching laboratory random vibration test was performed using power spectral density (PSD) profiles derived from truck transit records. Also, the effects of drop hight on glass bottles were evaluated. As expected, the maximum vibration levels were recorded at the rear of truck bed. No breakage of bottles were observed during truck transit and laboratory random vibration testing set at 0.52 $G_{rms}$. In drop test, glass bottles were not damaged by bottom side impact, while short side drop impact caused about twice higher bottle breakage rate than that of long side drop impact at 30 cm and 40 cm drop hight.
In this paper, a broadband RF module is designed and tested for 2.4GHz band applications. The RF module is composed of a low noise amplifier (LNA) with a three stage amplifier, a single ended gate mixer, matching circuits, a hairpin line band pass filter and a Chebyshev low pass filter to convert the radio frequency (RF) into the intermediate frequency (IF). The LNA has a high gain and stability, and the single ended gate mixer has a high conversion gain and wide dynamic range. In the analysis of the broadband RF module, the composite harmonic balance technique is used to analyze the operating characteristics of an RF module circuit. The RF module has a 55.2dB conversion gain with a 1.54dB low noise figure, $-120{\sim}-60dBm$ wide RF power dynamic range, -60dBm low harmonic spectrum and a good isolation factor among the RF, IF, and local oscillator (LO) ports.

Objective: To explore the differential protein expression profile in EC304 gastric cancer cells induced by alphastatin. Methods: Cultured EC304 cells in the exponential phase of growth were randomly divided into alphastatin and control groups. Total proteins were extracted and the two dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) technique was applied to analyze differences in expression with ImageMaster 2D Platinum 5.0 software. Proteins were identified using the MASCOT database and selected differently expressed proteins were characterised by western blotting and immunofluorescence. Results: $1350{\pm}90$ protein spots were detected by the ImageMaster software in the 2-DE gel images from the control and alphastatin groups. The match rate was about 72-80% for the spectrum profiles, with 29 significantly different protein spots being identified, 10 upregulated, 16 downregulated, two new and one lost. The MASCOT search scores were 64-666 and the peptide matching numbers were 3-27 with sequence coverage of 8-62%. Twenty-three proteins were checked by mass spectrometry, including decrease in Nm23 and profilin-2 isoform b associated with the regulation of actin multimerisation induced by extracellular signals. Conclusion: The proteome in EC304 cells is dramatically altered by alphastatin, which appears to play an important role in modulating cellular activity and anti-angiogenesis by regulating protein expression and signal transduction pathways through Nm23 and profilin-2 isoform b, providing new research directions for anti-angiogenic therapy of gastric cancer.
In this study, we set up an analytical method that can be used for rapid and accurate determination of representative isoquinoline alkaloids in medicinal plants using UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF MS (ultra pressure liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry). The compounds were eluted on a C18 column with 0.1 % formic acid and acetonitrile, and separated with good resolution within 13 min. Each of the separated components was characterized by precursor ions (generated by ESI-Q-TOF) and fragment ions (produced by collision-induced dissociation, CID), which were used as a reliable database. We also performed method validation: analytes showed excellent linearity ($R^2$, 0.9971-0.9996), LOD (5-25 ng/mL), LOQ (17-82 ng/mL), accuracy (91.6-97.4 %) as well as intra- and inter-day precisions (RSD, 1.8-3.2 %). In the analysis of Chelidonium majus L., magnoflorine, coptisine, sanguinarine, berberine and palmatine were detected by matching retention times and characteristic fragment ion patterns of reference standards. We also confirmed that, among the quantified components, coptisine was present in the highest quantity. Furthermore, alkaloid profiling was carried out by analyzing the fragment ion patterns corresponding to peaks of unknown components. In this manner, protopine, chelidonine, stylopine, dihydroberberine, canadine, and nitidine were tentatively identified. We also proposed the molecular structure of the fragment ions that appear in the mass spectrum. Therefore, we concluded that our suggested method for the determination of major isoquinoline alkaloids by UPLC-Q-TOF can be useful not only for quality control, but also for rapid and accurate investigation of phytochemical constituents of medicinal plants.
