In general, the design response spectrum in seismic design codes is based on the mean-plus-one-standard deviation response spectrum to secure high safety. In this study, response spectrum analysis was performed using seismic wave records adopted in domestic horizontal design spectrum development studies, while three response spectra were calculated by combining the mean and standard deviation of the spectra. Seismic wave spectral matching generated seismic wave sets matching each response spectrum. Then, seismic fragility was performed by setting three damage levels using a single-degree-of-freedom system. A correlation analysis was performed using a comparative analysis of the change in the response spectrum and the seismic fragility concerning the three response spectra. Finally, in the case of the response spectrum considering the mean and standard deviation, like the design response spectrum, the earthquake load was relatively high, indicating that conservative design or high safety can be secured.

In this paper, we consider a spectrum access scenario which consists of two groups of users, namely Primary Users (PUs) and Secondary Users (SUs) in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks (CCRNs). SUs cooperatively relay PUs messages based on Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) cooperative techniques, in exchange for accessing some of the spectrum for their secondary communications. From the literatures, we found that the Conventional Distributed Algorithm (CDA) and Pragmatic Distributed Algorithm (PDA) aim to maximize the PU sum-rate resulting in a lower sum-rate for the SU. In this contribution, we have investigated a suit of distributed matching algorithms. More specifically, we investigated SU-based CDA (CDA-SU) and SU-based PDA (PDA-SU) that maximize the SU sum-rate. We have also proposed the All User-based PDA (PDA-ALL), for maximizing the sum-rates of both PU and SU groups. A comparative study of CDA, PDA, CDA-SU, PDA-SU and PDA-ALL is conducted, and the strength of each scheme is highlighted. Different schemes may be suitable for different applications. All schemes are investigated under the idealistic scenario involving perfect coding and perfect modulation, as well as under practical scenario involving actual coding and actual modulation. Explicitly, our practical scenario considers the adaptive coded modulation based DF schemes for transmission flexibility and efficiency. More specifically, we have considered the Self-Concatenated Convolutional Code (SECCC), which exhibits low complexity, since it invokes only a single encoder and a single decoder. Furthermore, puncturing has been employed for enhancing the bandwidth efficiency of SECCC. As another enhancement, physical layer security has been applied to our system by introducing a unique Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) based puncturing to our SECCC scheme.
A wavelet-based procedure to generate artificial accelerograms compatible with a prescribed seismic design spectrum is described. A procedure to perform a baseline correction of the compatible accelerograms is also described. To examine how the frequency content of the modified records evolves with time, they are analyzed in the time and frequency using the wavelet transform. The changes in the strong motion duration and input energy spectrum are also investigated. An alternative way to match the design spectrum, termed the "two-band matching procedure", is proposed with the objective of preserving the non-stationary characteristics of the original record in the modified accelerogram.
When generating spectrum-compatible artificial ground motion in engineering practices, the effect of the variation in fitting parameters on the distribution of the peak ground displacement (PGD) has not yet drawn enough attention. In this study, a method for simulating ground motion matching for multiple targets is developed. In this method, a frequency-dependent amplitude envelope function with statistical parameters is introduced to simulate the nonstationarity of the frequency in earthquake ground motion. Then, several groups of time-history acceleration with different temporal and spectral nonstationarities were generated to analyze the effect of nonstationary parameter variations on the distribution of PGD. The following conclusions are drawn from the results: (1) In the simulation of spectrum-compatible artificial ground motion, if the acceleration time-history is generated with random initial phases, the corresponding PGD distribution is quite discrete and an uncertain number of PGD values lower than the limit value are observed. Nevertheless, the mean values of PGD always meet the requirement in every group. (2) If the nonstationary frequencies of the ground motion are taken into account when fitting the target spectrum, the corresponding PGD values will increase. A correlation analysis shows that the change in the mean and the dispersion values, from before the frequencies are controlled to after, correlates with the modal parameters of the predominant frequencies. (3) Extending the maximum period of the target spectrum will increase the corresponding PGD value and, simultaneously, decrease the PGD dispersion. Finally, in order to control the PGD effectively, the ground motion simulation method suggested in this study was revised to target a specified PGD. This novel method can generate ground motion that satisfies not only the required precision of the target spectrum, peak ground acceleration (PGA), and nonstationarity characteristics of the ground motion but also meets the required limit of the PGD, improving engineering practices.
Harmonic/inter-harmonic detection and analysis is an important issue in power system signal processing. This paper proposes a fast algorithm based on matching pursuit (MP) sparse signal decomposition, which can be employed to extract the harmonic or inter-harmonic components of a distorted electric voltage/current signal. In the MP iterations, the method extracts harmonic/inter-harmonic components in order according to the spectrum peak. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and nonlinear optimization techniques are used in the decomposition to realize fast and accurate estimation of the parameters. First, the frequency estimation value corresponding to the maxim spectrum peak in the present residual is obtained, and the phase corresponding to this frequency is searched in discrete sinusoids dictionary. Then the frequency and phase estimations are taken as initial values of the unknown parameters for Nelder-Mead to acquire the optimized parameters. Finally, the duration time of the disturbance is determined by comparing the inner products, and the amplitude is achieved according to the matching expression of the harmonic or inter-harmonic. Simulations and actual signal tests are performed to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method.

With the appearance of wireless spectrum crisis in traditional cellular network, device-to-device (D2D) communication has been regarded as a promising solution to ease heavy traffic burden by enabling precise content delivery among mobile users. However, due to the channel sharing, the interference between D2D and cellular users can affect the transmission rate and narrow the throughput in the network. In this paper, we firstly present a weighted interference minimization cluster formation model involving both social attribute and physical closeness. The weighted-interference, which is evaluated under the susceptible-infected(SI) model, is utilized to gather user in social and physical proximity. Then, we address the cluster formation problem via spectrum clustering with iterative operation. Finally, we propose the stable matching theory algorithm in order to maximize rate oriented to accomplish the one-to-one resource allocation. Numerical results show that our proposed scheme acquires quite well clustering effect and increases the accumulative transmission rate compared with the other two advanced schemes.
This paper proposes how to improve the performance of CSS-based indoor localization system. CSS based localization utilizes signal flight time between anchors and tag to estimate distance. From the distances, the 3-dimensional position is calculated through trilateration. However the error in distance caused from multi-path effect transfers to the position error especially in indoor environment. This paper handles a problem of reducing error in raw distance information. And, we propose the new localization method by pattern matching instead of the conventional localization method based on trilateration that is affected heavily on multi-path error. The pattern matching method estimates the position by using the fact that the measured data of near positions possesses a high similarity. In order to gain better performance of localization, we use EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) to fuse the result of CSS based localization and robot model.
Spectrum sensing is an elementary function in cognitive radio designed to monitor the existence of a primary user (PU). To achieve a high rate of detection, most techniques rely on knowledge of prior spectrum patterns, with a trade-off between high computational complexity and long sensing time. On the other hand, blind techniques ignore pattern matching processes to reduce processing time, but their accuracy degrades greatly at low signal-to-noise ratios. To achieve both a high rate of detection and short sensing time, we propose fast spectrum sensing with coordinate system (FSC) - a novel technique that decomposes a spectrum with high complexity into a new coordinate system of salient features and that uses these features in its PU detection process. Not only is the space of a buffer that is used to store information about a PU reduced, but also the sensing process is fast. The performance of FSC is evaluated according to its accuracy and sensing time against six other well-known conventional techniques through a wireless microphone signal based on the IEEE 802.22 standard. FSC gives the best performance overall.
Borate nonlinear optical crystals have been used as frequency conversion devices in many fields due to their unique transparency and nonlinearity from ultraviolet to visible spectral range. In this study, we theoretically and numerically investigate the properties of broadband second harmonic generation (SHG) in the recently reported Pna21-Ba3Mg3(BO3)3F3 (BMBF) crystal. The technique is based on the simultaneous achievement of birefringence phase matching and group velocity matching between interacting waves. We discussed all factors required for broadband SHG in the BMBF in terms of two types of phase matching and group velocity matching conditions, the beam propagation direction and the corresponding effective nonlinearity and spatial walk-off, and the spectral responses. The results show that bandwidths calculated in the broadband SHG scheme are 220.90 nm (for Type I) and 165.85 nm (for Type II) in full-width-half-maximum (FWHM). The central wavelength in each case is 2047.76 nm for Type I and 1828.66 nm for Type II at room temperature. The results were compared with the non-broadband scheme at the telecom C-band.
