Among certain animals, gut microbiomes demonstrate species-specific patterns of beta diversity. This host-specificity is a potent driver of exogenous microbial exclusion. To overcome persistent translational limitations, translational microbiome research and therapeutic development must account for host-specific patterns of microbial engraftment. This commentary seeks to highlight the important implications of host-specificity for microbial ecology, Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT), next-generation probiotics, and translational microbiota research.
Yeast alcohol dehydrogenase (YADH) has an acidic residue that interacts with the 2'- and 3'-hydroxyl groups of the adenosine ribose of the $NAD^+$ coenzyme. The acidic residue of Asp-223 (according to horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase amino acid sequence) is supposed to determine the coenzyme specificity for $NAD^+$ rather than $NADP^+$. We mutated Asp-223 to leucine and the mutant YADH was expressed in yeast and characterized for the coenzyme specificity. The turnover numbers of mutant enzyme for $NAD^+$ and ethanol were decreased 3.5- and 4.8-fold compared to wild-type enzyme, respectively. Contrastively, catalytic specificity for $NADP^+$ was increased 13-fold. As a result, the mutant YADH also employed $NADP^+$ as a coenzyme.
Assuming that Asp225 is the substrate specificity determinant of Achromobacter pretense I (APl) which is lysine-specific serine protease, the 225th residue was substituted for other amino acids with a hope that the substrate specificity of a mutant API is altered. Furthermore, to maturate preform of mutant API autocatalytically, Lys(-1) was also replaced by Met, Asp, or Glu. However, all the mutants were not expressed, or accumulated as inactive precursor proteins. This result implicats that Asp225 plays a critical rol in restricted substrate specificity as a lysylendopeptidase but the substrate specificity of API is not determined only by the nature of residue 225.
Purpose - This paper aims to articulate determinants of inter-organizational cooperation based on to the extent to which inter-organizational tasks are related to product development and production processes. Design/Methodology - This research conducted OLS regression analysis based on the data acquired from questionnaire survey in Korean auto industry. Findings - Our analysis has verified that complementary and compatible resources, as well as physical and human asset specificities, positively affect inter-organizational product development cooperation. Conversely, in the production process, only complementary resources positively affect inter-organizational cooperation, whereas compatible resources and physical asset specificity have a negative influence. The changing characteristics of compatible resources (with IT innovations and AI), and physical asset specificity (influenced by a rising need to reduce production costs), cause inter-organizational cooperation in production to decrease. Originality/value - This research attempts to expound upon these determining factors of inter-organizational cooperation by considering both complementary-compatible resources and asset specificity in product development and production simultaneously. The reason why the impact of complementary-compatible resources and asset specificity on inter-organizational cooperation is critical in understanding the determinants of inter-organizational cooperation is that the attributes of complementary-compatible resources and asset specificity in production have changed drastically due to the continuing diffusion of IT innovations and AI (Artificial Intelligence).
This study aims to clarify how the graffiti arts used in urban regeneration projects have come to possess the place specificity as public arts. For the research, the theoretical background of the place specificity of graffiti art was explored with the understanding of the concept of place specificity of public art, before comparing the difference of graffiti arts as public art applied to the urban regeneration projects, depending on their installation location and artist. In addition, the specificity of the place where graffiti artwork was installed and its significance in the context of urban regeneration project were explored. The case study is limited to graffiti arts installed in Bosan-dong, Dongducheon-si, where several urban regeneration projects have been pushed for since 2015. It was found from the analysis that the place specificity of individual art works is maximized when they are merged with cultural contents reflecting the history and place specificity of target cities, such as design, crafts, music and festivals, rather than with the place specificity of the works of individual artists. The result of this study suggests that when graffiti arts are fused with urban cultural contents as fusion design elements, their place specificity is maximized enough to elevate them to the level of public arts, and enable them to function as the media of urban regeneration.

Purpose: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the common infectious diseases in children. Several imaging modalities can be used to confirm the presence of acute pyelonephritis (APN). Among them the 99mTcdimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan (DMSA scan) is used as a gold standard for diagnosis. Ultrasonography technology is evolving. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the sensitivity and specificity of Power Doppler ultrasonography (PDU) compared to the results from the previous study. Methods: There were 260 patients included in this study, aged between 1 and 12 months old. The patients were admitted to the Yeungnam University Medical Center between January 2008 and December 2015. All patients underwent both DMSA scan and PDU within 5days of admission. Voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) was performed in 195 patients with abnormal DMSA scan or PDU. Results: The diagnostic sensitivity of APN using PDU was 45.5% and specificity was 85.5% in 260 patients following detection of a defect on DMSA scan that was defined as APN. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of PDU for VUR were 65.5 % and 60.1%, respectively. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of DMSA scan for VUR were 95.7% and 14.1%, respectively. Conclusion: PDU has a high specificity but low sensitivity, so there are limitations in using it to replace a DMSA scan for the diagnosis of APN in children. DMSA scan and PDU have different sensitivity and specificity in diagnosis of VUR, respectively. Therefore, we suggest that the sensitivity and specificity of each test can be helpful in diagnosing APN and VUR when used in conjunction.
Purpose - This study has the following objectives. First, it seeks to build an integrated model that can analyze the path through which headquarters, subsidiary competence, and knowledge transfer performance influence subsidiary performance. Second, it analyzes the influence of the specificity of technology as a moderating effect factor on knowledge transfer process. Third, it will conduct an empirical analysis on distributive manufacturing MNEs and suggests an implication for companies that actually need technological localization. The difference of this study are as follows. First, unlike the existing studies, this study can expand a theoretical discussion as it uses subsidiary performance as the dependent variable. Second, it sets the specificity of technology as a moderating effect factor, not an antecedent, and can draw a theoretical implication. Research design, data, and methodology - This study built a path analysis model to identify the influence of the disseminative capacity and absorptive capacity of distributive manufacturing MNEs on subsidiary performance. Based on the previous studies, it set 19 items as 5 latent variables, and established 6 hypotheses by including the moderating effect of the specificity of technology between them. The final 203 companies were selected as analysis samples through a survey questionnaire. For empirical analysis, the study used PLS (Partial Least Square) that is based on structural equation model. Results - The empirical analysis result demonstrated that both headquarters' disseminative capability and subsidiaries absorptive capacity had a positive influence on knowledge transfer performance. Knowledge transfer performance also had a positive influence on subsidiary performance. In the analysis of moderating effect, the specificity of technology acted as a significant moderating variable only between knowledge transfer performance and subsidiary performance; it did not show a statistically significant moderating effect among disseminative capability, absorptive capacity, and knowledge transfer performance. Conclusions - The empirical analysis results of this study demonstrate the importance of disseminative capability and absorptive capacity in knowledge transfer to subsidiaries from the distributive manufacturing MNEs in Korea. The analysis on the moderating effect indicates that the specificity of technology in Korean companies influences on the process of making achievement by using the transferred knowledge.

Based on the development of SNS in Mobile and Internet, crisis management is regarded as an important issue that determines the rise and fall of businesses. This study aims to contribute to more efficient implementation of crisis management messages by examining the relationship between the strategy of crisis management communication and the level of specificity of the message. The study found that consumers evaluated the crisis-hit company's acceptance communication strategy to show a higher level of integrity, reliability and appropriateness than the defensive strategy. However, this main effect is mediated by the specificity (high specificity vs. low). Specifically, consumers' assessment of crisis management messages and information-seeking behavior were found to be most favorable when used in a mixture of acceptance strategies and high specificity. Conversely, the lowest effect was the combination of defense strategy and high specificity. Based on these results, the theoretical discussions is described for crisis management practitioners of enterprises and organizations.
Dual-specificity protein phosphatases (DUSPs) constitute a family of protein phosphatase characterized by the ability to dephosphorylate phospho-tyrosyl and phospho-seryl/threonyl residues. Most DUSPs are involved in regulation of cell survival and differentiation. In this study, a human dual-specificity protein phosphatase, DUSP28, was isolated from a human kidney cDNA. The recombinant protein was successfully produed in E.coli and showed sufficient phosphatase activity toward DiFMUP (6,8-difluoro-4-methylumbelliferyl phosphate). Various phosphatase inhibitors and divalent metals were tested for their effects on the DUSP28 phosphatase activity. As a result, $Zn^{2+}$ was found to strongly inhibit DUSP28 phosphatase activity, suggesting DUSP28 is involved in Zn-related signal transduction pathway. Furthermore, the DUSP28 protein preferred phospho-tyrosyl residues to phospho-threonyl residues, implying its physiological roles in the cellular process.
Lung cancer is a type of cancer with high mortality; its 5-year survival rate is at a low 14%. Related cytological tests include sputum, bronchial brushing, bronchial washing and fine needle aspiration cytology test etc. From the test specimens in which sputum, bronchial brushing, bronchial washing, and fine needle aspiration cytology were performed, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy between cytology test and histology test. In the sputum test, sensitivity was 27.71% and specificity was 98.02%, and the bronchial brushing test showed sensitivity of 93.33% and a specificity of 91.3%. The bronchial washing test was a sensitivity of 53.7% and its specificity was 98.9%, and the fine needle aspiration cytology test showed sensitivity and specificity were 88.46% and 72.97%, respectively. In the specimens diagnosed as normal at the sputum test, malignant diagnosis was found in 21 specimens of bronchial brushing, 30 cases of bronchial washings and 37 cases of fine needle aspiration cytology specimens. In the specimens diagnosed as normal at the bronchial washing test, malignant diagnosis was found in 5 specimens of sputum, 7 specimens of bronchial brushin and 1 cases of fine needle aspiration cytology. One specimens found to be normal in fine needle aspiration cytology turned out to maligant in sputum test. The result of this research shows that, in diagnosis lung cancer, a test method of high sensitivity and specificity should be pursued. However, depending on the location and malignancy of the illness, diagnosis may not be obtained in some cases. Therefore, we conclude that the cytological tests performed for lung cancer testing such as sputum, bronchial brushing, bronchial washing, and fine needle aspiration cytology should be carried out in a mutually complementary manner.
