  • It is difficult to make plans about the production schedule and volume of seasonal products due to the huge uncertainty in the prediction of their demands, which is why the amounts of carryover seasonal products increase after the peak season. Traditional models fail to meet the important requirements of production and stock plans related to the enhanced efficiency of logistics system due to the reduced value of carryover products by the disposal based on large discounts and deterioration, which poses considerable difficulties with actual problem solving. This study examined the stages of product storage from the specialized factory warehouses during a low season through the stores and the warehouses of local distribution centers during a high season to stock disposal and carryover product warehouses after a high season. The study developed a model for logistics rationalization plans to minimize carryover products by advance selling new products by subscription during a low season in anticipation of high season demands, increasing the accuracy of demands prediction, and making stable production plans, as well as demonstrated its excellence through numerical analysis.

Hair damage is inevitable due to the excessive permanent wave or hair coloring of modern people. However, as the hair is damaged, the cuticle peels off and falls off, and the tensile force decreases and the satisfaction after hair styling or perm decreases relatively. Therefore, it is necessary to manage damaged hair, but since artificial synthetic products occupy most of hair treatment agents on the market, it is necessary to develop a hair treatment product containing antioxidants useful for the human body. In this study, the effect of maple leaf extract on the mechanical change of colored hair was analyzed to investigate the potential of maple leaf extract as a hair treatment agent to improve damaged hair and improve hair health. It is considered that this study will be used as basic data for the development of hair beauty products using natural products in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is concerned with identification of floral type of commercially available honeys and pollen loads. Ikuse's technique was applied to identify the pollen species of honey and pollen loads. Among six kinds of commercially available honeys in Taegu, Korea i.e. Robinia Honey, Brassica Honey, Castanea Honey, Rhododendron Honey, Lespedeza Honey and Multipant Honey, all honeys contained pollens, which were coincident with their trade names given by the apirists, except Lespedeza Honey. The trade name of imported honeys were not given by the plant, from which pollen material and nectar were collected. Among four kinds of these products, pollen was not identified in Clover Honey. A spectrum of honey products added by pollen loads was, of course, wider than simple honey products. The pollen load showed spectrum of pollens including not only those which are specialized for wind pollination, eq. Pinus species and Gramineae, but also contained for insect pollination, eq. rose and leguminous plants.

  • In this study, we performed to select the high growth potential agri-products in Ulsan City, Korea. For this, we carried out the location quotient and the regional growth rate differential analyses using the cultivated area data and the agricultural output data in 2000, 2005 and 2007. The location quotient analysis revealed that rice, pear and persimmon were classified as specialized agri-products. These results would be useful to reflect on a short-term policy in support for the agricultural activities of the local farmers because the specialized agri-products occupy a relatively high proportion in the region. In addition, the regional growth rate differential analysis showed that strawberries, persimmon, potatoes, corn and sweet potato are classified as growing agri-products whereas pear is classified as a competitive agri-product in the analysis based on agricultural output from 2000 to 2007. Based on cultivated area, strawberries, potatoes and corn are classified as growing agri-products whereas sweet potato is classified as a competitive agri-product. These results would be beneficial to establish a long-term agricultural policy in Ulsan City because these agri-products are further supported by the time series analysis, considering the nationwide trends and the production activities reflecting the preferences of consumers and the willingness of producers.

  • The selection of land for fishing village development project, and the standard used to classify fishing villages has been determined based on the guidelines developed by fishing village cooperatives. The approach fishing village cooperatives follows is likely to classify fishing villages without first reflecting on the overall development environment of the region, such as other industries and workers in the area. It also acts as a barrier for business promotion or evaluation, because the cooperatives do not match the administrative districts, which are the units of administration, and the main policy enforcement agent in regional development. Against this background, this study aimed to identify categories to situate the development direction, as well as the size and distribution of fishing villages based on eup, myeon, and dong administrative units as defined by the Fishing Villages and Fishery Harbors Act. This study was based on the Census of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of 2010, and analyzed 826 eups, myeon, and dongs with fishery households using the principal component analysis, and 2-Step cluster analysis methods. Therefore, 95% of the variance was explained using the covariance matrix for types of fishing villages, but it was analyzed as one component focusing on the number and ratio of fishery households, and used the cluster-type analysis, which focused on the sizes of fishing villages. The clusters were categorized into three types: (1) the development type based on the number of fishermen in the eups, myeons and dongs was analyzed as village size (682); (2) administrative district size (121); and (3) total eups, myeons and dongs (23), which revealed that the size of most fishing villages was small. We could explain 73% of the variance using the correlation coefficient matrix, which was divided into three types according to the three principal component scores, namely fishery household power, fishery industry power, and fishing village tourism power. Most fishing villages did not have a clear development direction because all business areas within the region were diversified, and 552 regions could be categorized under the harmonious development type, which is in need of balanced development. The fishery industry type typified by industrial strength included 159 regions in need of an approach based on industrialization of fishery product processing. Specialized production areas, which specialized in producing fishery products, were 115 regions with a high percentage of fishermen. The analysis results indicated that various situations in terms of size and development of fishing villages existed. However, because several regions exist in the form of small village units, it was necessary to approach the project in a manner that directed the diversification of regional development projects, such as places for local residents to relax or enjoy tourism experiences within the region, while considering the overall conditions of the relevant eups, myeons, and dongs. Reinforcement of individual support for fishermen based on the Fisheries Act must take precedence over providing support for fishermen through regional development. In addition, it is necessary to approach the development of fishing villages by focusing on industrializing the processing techniques of fishery products. Areas specialized in the production of fishery products are required to consider the facilities for fisheries production, and must make efforts to increase fishery resources, such as releasing fry.

  • Local non-timber forest products can be easily accessed by tourists. These also provide opportunities for tourists to experience the local culture. Many local governments are paying constant attention to the development of non-timber forest product brands to revitalize the local economy and increase the profits of local farmers. Although there are many forest products and tourism resources in each region of Korea, there is no local specialized strategy to sell non-timber forest products and promote consumers' purchase intentions. In this study, we aimed to explore the consumers' perceived creating shared value (CSV) and its association with purchasing behavior of non-timber forest products in Jeongeup city, Korea. Data were collected from 1,066 consumers who had purchased non-timber forest products. Purchasing patterns of local specialty products differed depending on consumers' perceived CSV levels. In addition, consumers with higher levels of perceived CSV showed higher awareness and familiarity with Jeongeup city and experienced Jeongeup city's non-timber forest products. Our findings suggest that improving consumer perception towards CSV of non-timber forest products can be used as a marketing strategy for local non-timber forest products to revitalize the local economy.

  • Strong earthquakes have caused substantial losses in recent years, and earthquake risk prevention has aroused a significant amount of attention. Earthquake risk prevention products can help improve the self and mutual-rescue abilities of people, and can create convenient conditions for earthquake relief and reconstruction work. At present, it is difficult for earthquake risk prevention information systems to meet the information requirements of multiple scenarios, as they are highly specialized. Aiming at mitigating this shortcoming, this study investigates and analyzes four user roles (government users, public users, social force users, insurance market users), and summarizes their requirements for earthquake risk prevention products in the whole disaster chain, which comprises three scenarios (pre-quake preparedness, in-quake warning, and post-quake relief). A targeted recommendation rule base is then constructed based on the case analysis method. Considering the user's location, the earthquake magnitude, and the time that has passed since the earthquake occurred, a targeted recommendation model is built. Finally, an Android APP is implemented to realize the developed model. The APP can recommend multi-form earthquake risk prevention products to users according to their requirements under the three scenarios. Taking the 2019 Lushan earthquake as an example, the APP exhibits that the model can transfer real-time information to everyone to reduce the damage caused by an earthquake.
