  • Many companies have recently become interested in using social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook as a new channel to communicate with their customers. For example, companies often offer "special deals" (e.g., coupons, discounts, free samples, etc.) to their customers who participate in promotions or events on social networking sites. Companies often make important announcements on their products or services on social networking sites. By doing so, customers are encouraged to continue to have relationships with companies on social networking sites and to recommend the companies' presence on social networking sites to other potential customers. Moreover, customers who keep close relationships with companies on social networking sites often provide the companies with valuable suggestions and feedback. For instance, Starbucks has more than 2 million followers on Twitter, and often receive suggestions and feedback for their product offerings and services from the followers on Twitter. Although companies realize potential benefits of using social networking sites as a channel to communicate with their customers, it appears that many companies have difficulty forging long-lasting relationships with customers on social networking sites. It is often reported that many customers who had followed companies on Twitter later stopped following them for various reasons. Therefore, it is an important issue to understand what motivates customers to continue to keep relationships with companies on social networking sites. Nonetheless, due attention has yet paid to this issue until recently. This study intends to contribute to our understanding on customers' intention to continue to follow companies on Twitter and to spread positive word-of-mouth about companies on Twitter. Specifically, we identify seven potential factors that customers perceive as important in evaluating their experience with companies on Twitter. The seven factors include similarity, receptivity, interactivity, ubiquitous connectivity, enjoyment, usefulness and transparency. We posit that the seven perception factors can affect the two types of satisfaction, emotional and cognitive, which can in turn influence on customers' intention to follow companies on Twitter and to spread positive word-of-mouth about companies on Twitter. Research hypotheses formulated in this study were tested with data collected from a questionnaire survey administered to customers who had been following companies on Twitter. The data was analyzed with the partial least square (PLS) approach to structural equation modeling. The results of data analysis based on 177 usable responses were generally supportive of our predictions for the effects of the seven factors identified and the two types of satisfaction. In particular, out results suggest that emotional satisfaction was strongly influenced by perceived similarity, perceived receptivity, perceived enjoyment, and perceived transparency. Cognitive satisfaction was significantly influenced by perceived similarity, perceived interactivity, perceived enjoyment, and perceived transparency. While cognitive satisfaction was found to have significant and positive effects on both continued following and word-of-mouth intentions, emotional satisfaction had a significant and positive effect only on word-of-mouth intention.

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an important public health problem throughout the world. Many important questions remain to be addressed in assessing exposure to these compounds. Because they are ubiquitous and highly volatile, special techniques must be applied in the analytical determination of VOCs. Personal exposure measurements are needed to evaluate the relationship between microenvironmental concentrations and actual exposures. It is also important to investigate exposure frequency, duration, and intensity, as well as personal exposure characteristics. In addition to air monitoring, biological monitoring may contribute significantly to risk assessment by allowing estimation of absorbed doses, rather than just the external exposure concentrations, which are evaluated by environmental and personal monitoring. This study was conducted to establish the analytic procedure of VOCs in air, blood, urine and exhaled breath and to evaluate the relationships among these environmental media. The subjects of this study were selected because they are occupationally exposed to high levels of VOCs. Environmental, personal, blood, urine and exhalation samples were collected. Purge & trap, thermal desorber, gas chromatography and mass selective detector were used to analyze the collected samples. Analytical procedures were validated with the“break through test”, 'quot;recovery test for storage and transportation”,“method detection limit test”and“inter-laboratory QA/QC study”. Assessment of halogenated compounds indicted that they were significantly correlated to each other (p value < 0.01). In a similar manner, aromatic compounds were also correlated, except in urine sample. Linear regression was used to evaluate the relationships between personal exposures and environmental concentrations. These relationships for aromatic and halogenated are as follows: Halogen $s_{personal}$ = 3.875+0.068Halogen $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .930) Aromatic $s_{personal}$ = 34217.757-31.266Aromatic $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .821) Multiple regression was used to evaluate the relationship between exposures and various exposure deter-minants including, gender, duration of employment, and smoking history. The results of the regression model-ins for halogens in blood and aromatics in urine are as follows: Halogen $s_{blood}$ = 8.181+0.246Halogen $s_{personal}$+3.975Gender ($R^2$= .925), Aromatic $s_{urine}$ = 249.565+0.135Aromatic $s_{personal}$ -5.651 D.S ($R^2$ = .735), In conclusion, we have established analytic procedures for VOC measurement in biological and environmental samples and have presented data demonstrating relationships between VOCs levels in biological media and environmental samples. • This study examined the relationship between an achievement goal orientation and self-management in track & field athletes' of physical education high schools. Moreover, we hypothesized that the achievement goal orientation and self-management would be differed by their gender, special field, and career. Participants were 229 athletes. They completed achievement goal orientation and self-management questionnaires independently. Results from each statistical method based on the research questions revealed that there was a statistical difference in the subject goal orientation(p<0.05). Gender had a significant effect on the interpersonal, mental strength, and the body management(p<0.05). The mental strength was only statistically affected by their special field. The results indicated that the achievement goal orientation and the self-management may affect performance of high school track & field athletes. Several limitations, implications and suggestions for the future study were discussed.

  • Since medium and small manufacturing enterprises have , played a very important role not only in national economy but also in political and social relationships all of the countries in the world have paid favorable policies and programmes for protecting and promoting this sector. In Korea main ingredients of promoting policy for this sector consist of (1) encouragement to modernize facilities and rationalize operation (2) special priority in bank loan (3) promotion of industrial cooperatives (4) prevention of infringement by large industries. However, substantial investigation for problems incurred in medium industries has revealed that unless medium industries improve and raise their technological and managerial skillfulness for themselves all other measures are useless to solve the problems. This realization has induced all of the countries to render extension services on both of technology and management to assist and support their own effort for rationalization. Also in Korea during past 20 years many technical and managerial research institutes have rendered free consultancy services to medium industries by the support of government subsidy. Among them the joint extension services project performed by the Medium Industry Bank and UNDP during 1967 and 1975 might he listed as model case because of its broad and integrated activities and participation of foreign experts. We think many precepts should be :learned from the study of this project. Korean economy is expected to develop rapidly throughout coming'80 in spite of many obstacles, tut there is an apprehension that gap in of every facet between medium and large enterprises might he deepened and enlarged. To prevent the actualization of so-called dual structure of national economy and to promote stabilized medium industries with high added value productivity which are shown in well developed countries, consultancy assistance ana extension services should be strengthened much more than ever. Fortunately in 1978 legislation of "Medium and small industry promotion act" has paved the way for the systematic achivement of consultancy and extension services which shall be integrated by the government overall program. Under new framework thoughtfull accomplishment should be undertaken considering precious precepts obtained from past experience and failure. Special attention should be given to the technical liaison officer scheme, exclusive participation of only professional institutes, strict qualification and training for consultants for the future succsseful implementation.

  • This paper aims to explore the characteristics of regional embeddedness of Korean firms in Daren City, China, with special reference to management practices. To achieve this goal, I attempt to analyze the type and structure of the firm, the structure of decision-making, labor practices, and the inter-organizational networks with the government, trade associations and the business supporting agencies. The major purpose of the investment in Daren by Korean firms is to penetrate and expand the local market. In line with this, the structure of decision-making by Korean firms tends to become increasingly autonomous, especially in terms of employment and marketing. However, the decision-making related to finance and accounting tends to be still highly controlled upon the headquarter in Korea. In addition, it is shown that Korean firms make a great effort to sustain the cooperative relationships with the local society and the local government.

  • Objective : Subarachnoid hemorrhage[SAH] is commonly associated with polyuria [solute diuresis or water diuresis]. The authors investigate the incidence and clinical characteristics of polyuria with special reference to the administration of osmotic diuretics. Methods : One hundred and forty eight patients with high urine output [>200ml/hr] after ruptured cerebral aneurysm operated early from Jan 1998 to Jun 2003 were selected. Water diuresis [diabetes insipidus, DI] was differentiated from solute diuresis by lower urine specific gravity [<1.005] and higher plasma osmolality. The incidence and mode of onset of polyuria were compared between two types of diuresis. Additionally, the relationships between development of polyuria and clinical features including aneurysm location, clinical grade, Fisher grade, and outcome were analyzed. Osmotic diuretics were not routinely used in patients with Hunt-Hess grade I-III since July 2001. Results : Annual incidence of polyuria decreased markedly since July 2001 : 45.2% in 1998, 34.5% in 2001, 11.9% in 2003. Postoperative DI occurred in $2.4{\sim}11.1%$. DI developed mainly from ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysm. The mean interval between the last SAH and the onset of DI was 7.1 days [range $1{\sim}27$ days] and lasted mean 4.6 days. When compared with solute diuresis, the development of DI was significantly delayed. Other clinical features were not closely related to polyuria. Conclusion : Uncontrolled polyuria may lead to cerebral ischemia and electrolyte imbalance because SAH patients are already predisposed to hypovolemia, and will risk precipitating the opposite situation with overhydration. We can decrease the development of polyuria without routine use of osmotic diuretics, by avoiding the increased intracranial pressure such as the intraoperative ventriculostomy and gentle brain retraction in good grade patients.

  • Purpose: Workers in special employment relationship (WSERs) are workers in nonstandard employment arrangements who lack worker protection accorded in standard employment arrangements. This study aimed to describe self-rated health (SRH) and depressive symptoms (DS) among Korean WSERs in comparison to regular wage workers (RWW) and identify associations between working conditions and those outcomes. Methods: In this study, secondary data analysis using the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey was used. The sample totaled 29,120, including 1,538 WSERs and 27,564 RWWs. Sociodemographic and work-related characteristics were employed as explanatory variables and SRH and DS as dependent variables. Using multiple logistic regression, the determinants of fair/poor SRH and DS were identified. Results: The prevalence rates for fair/poor SRH and DS in WSERs were 25.2% and 28.3%, respectively, and 20.7% and 25.0% in RWWs, respectively. Compared to RWWs, WSERs had 31% (aOR=1.31, 95% CI=1.14~1.49) and 20% (aOR=1.20, 95% CI=1.06~1.36) higher odds of SRH and DS, respectively. Some factors, such as a lack of rest guarantee and sickness presenteeism, had a larger influence in the WSER than in the RWW group. Conclusion: Compared to RWWs, WSERs reported having poorer working conditions and were more likely to report poor general and mental health. Therefore, in Korea, public health policymakers should consider measures to protect the working conditions and health of WSERs, a growing segment of the working population. The study produced new epidemiological evidence regarding the relationships between employment arrangements and health.

  • Knowledge and attitudes on current selection of fats and oils were surveyed among college students and USDA extension off campus faculties. The objective of this survey was to obtain information about the nutrition knowledge and attitudes toward fats and to assess relationships between the nutrition knowledge, general attitudes toward dietary fats, and specific attitudes toward the eating of certain foods. The attitudes toward and nutrition knowledge of dietary fat sections consisted of 22 and 39 statements respectively. Avoiding red meat and eggs and avoiding fats as a flavoring were attitudes whose maintenance may require special, long-term intervention strategies. Replacing high-fat foods with low-fat foods, modification(cutting fat off any meat) and substitution were easily adopted and maintained low-fat habit. The responses to wanting to lose some weight and feeling better if increasing exercise were favorable. The attitudes toward the possible relationships between fat consumption and health were favorable. Respondents on the nutrition knowledge test attained a mean score of 129.69 and a median score of 127 our of the highest possible score of 200. Extension off campus faculties, nutrition majoring/majored subjects, and over 41-year-olds tended to have more favorable general attitudes and specific attitudes toward the consumption of certain foods and higher knowledge. Senior students had more negative general attitudes and specific attitudes, and college graduates and graduate students had more nutrition knowledge. Nutrition know-ledge was related to general attitudes toward dietary fats, but not to more specific attitudes toward the eating of certain foods. Nutrition education will not be effective in modifying the intake of dietary fats in the population because nutrition knowledge related to general attitudes toward dietary fats and general nutrition practice but not the eating of certain foods.

  • A recursive relationship is a relationship among entities of the same class. N : M recursive relationships can be used to represent bills of materials. A bill of materials is a special data structure that occurs frequently in manufacturing applications. This data structure is a hierarchy. Most business dimensions have a hierarchical structure. In this study, a design of a hierarchical dimension of the bill of materials type is carried out. As with other N : M relationships, an intersection table that shows pairs of related rows is created, and this table is transformed into a dimension in the OLAP(OnLine Analytical Processing) model. This transformation consists of two tasks: (1)replacing the first column of the intersection table with the lowest level of the dimension: and (2)replacing the second column of the table with the only upper level of the dimension. A case multidimensional information system using the hierarchical dimension is also developed.
