다변량분석법을 활용한 농업용 저수지 수질유형분류 (Classification of Agricultural Reservoirs Using Multivariate Analysis)

  • In order to manage the water quality in reservoir, it is necessary to understand the temporal and spatial variation of reservoirs and to classify the reservoirs. In this research, agricultural reservoirs are classified according to physical characteristics (depth, residence time, shape of the reservoir etc) and water quality using multivatriate analysis (PCA and CA). CA (Cluster Analysis) method classify reservoirs into several groups as a similarity of the reservoirs, but it is difficult to indicate a full list to the one table. In case of PCA (Principle Component Analysis) method, it has the advantage for the classification on the reservoirs depending on the water quality similarity and also it is useful to analyze the relationship between related factors through correlation analysis. However PCA is limited to classify into several groups based on the characteristics of the reservoirs and each user should be classified as randomly subjective according to the relative position of the reservoir in the figure. In conclusions, compared to conventional reservoirs classification methods, both CA and PCA methods are considered to be a classification method that describes the nature of the reservoir well, but classification results has a restriction on use, so further research will be needed to complement.

Kompsat-5 SAR 자료를 이용한 수체 탐지 (Detection of Water Bodies from Kompsat-5 SAR Data)

  • 육상의 수체를 탐지하는 것은 홍수, 태풍, 지진해일과 같은 재해 모니터링에 있어 핵심적인 사항이며, 습지, 빙하 등 지표 수자원의 시 공간적 변화를 파악하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 Kompsat-5 SAR 영상으로부터 육상의 수체를 탐지하기 위하여 임계값에 기반한 접근방법의 적용성을 분석하고, 다양한 임계값 설정 기법의 탐지 성능을 평가하였다. 또한 SAR 영상의 스펙클 필터링이 임계값 설정에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 영상에서 수체가 차지하는 비율에 따른 탐지 성능의 변화에 대한 정량적인 평가를 수행하였다. 추가적으로 탐지 성능을 향상시키기 위해 히스토그램의 bimodality 검정과 majority filtering 처리를 활용하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 세종시 지역의 사례의 경우 제안된 알고리즘을 통해 최종적으로 약 96%의 탐지율과 0.3%의 오탐지율로 수체를 탐지할 수 있음을 보였다.

Tidal and Nontidal Fluctuations of Currents in the Western Channel of the Korea Strait

  • We carried out simultaneous and long-time observations of currents across the western channel of the Korea Strait during the period of May, 1994 to September, 1996 in order to understand the spatial and temporal variability of tidal and nontidal currents in the Strait. Results show that currents in the Strait are quite variable in space and time, and they largely consist of mean current and diurnal and semidiurnal tidal currents of about equal magnitudes. The mean currents include the Tsushima Current and the Korea Strait Undercurrent at the center of the channel. The former occupies the upper two-thirds and the latter the lower one-third of the water column. The semidiurnal and diurnal currents are largely rectilinear in the direction of NE-SW and their amplitude variation across the channel appears to be small. However, the diurnal currents at some locations show rotational characteristics with significant nontidal effects. The station close to the Korean coast leads the phase and the phase difference of the semidiurnal current across the channel appears to be less than half an hour while that of the diurnal current is over five hours.

Variations of Limnological Functions in a Man-made Reservoir Ecosystem during High-flow Year vs. Low-flow Year

  • We compared spatial and temporal variations of water chemistry between high-flow year ($HF_y$) and low-flow year ($LF_y$) in an artificial lentic ecosystem of Daechung Reservoir. The differences in the rainfall distributions explained the variation of the annual inflow and determined flow characteristics and water residence time and modified chemical and biological conditions, based on TP, suspended solids, and chlorophylla, resulting in changes of ecological functions. The intense rainfall and inflow from the watershed resulted in partial disruption of thermal structure in the metalimnion depth, ionic dilution, high TP, and high suspended solids. This condition produced a reduced chlorophyll-a in the headwaters due to low light availability and rapid flushing. In contrast, reduced inflow and low rainfall by drought resulted in strong thermal difference between the epilimnion and hypolimnion, low inorganic solids, high total dissolved solids, and low phosphorus in the ambient water. The riverine conditions dominated the hydrology in the monsoon of $HF_y$ and lacustrine conditions dominated in the $HF_y$. Overall data suggest that effective managements of the flow from the watershed may have an important role in the eutrophication processes.

Variations of Abundance and Hatch Timing of Dungeness Crab Larvae in Southeastern Alaska: Implications for Climate Effect

  • Variations of larval abundance and hatch timing of Dungeness crabs, Cancer magister Dana 1852, were investigated. Dungeness crab larvae were monthly collected at 16 stations arrayed in four transects, Upper Chatham, Icy Strait, Cross Sound, and Icy Point, in southeastern Alaska from May to September 1997-2004. Larval abundance at all transects was the highest in June except in the Icy Point transect. Larval abundance was the highest in the Icy Strait transect, moderate in the Upper Chatham and Cross Sound transects, and the lowest in the Icy Point transect. Zoeae I(ZI) was predominated in May; thereafter ZI decreased and late zoeal stages occurred. In May and June, small numbers of late stage larvae unusually co-occurred with ZI in three transects. These late stage larvae may have been transported from where hatching occurs earlier. The timing of ZI occurrence varied interannually and was related to degreedays during the egg incubation period of Dungeness crabs: later larval hatching in 1997 and 2002 when temperatures were colder, while earlier larval hatching in 1998 when temperatures were warmer. The distribution patterns of Dungeness crab larvae in southeastern Alaska were markedly different from those reported from other areas of the species distribution ranges: larvae occurring much later in the year, and late stage larvae occurring in inland waters.

  • 본 연구에서는 급속압축장치에서 실현된 단발분무하염내의 매연을 레이저음영 사진법에 의하여 가시화하고, 화염내의 매연농도의 시간적, 공간적분포를 조사한다. 또 전보에서 측정된 비증발분무내의 당량비분포와 비교검토하여 디젤화염내의 매연 생 성기구를 고찰하고, 분위기조건에 따른 착화지연이 매연생성에 미치는 영향 및 매연생 성과 열발생율과의 관계를 밝힌다.

정읍지역 지하수 함양량의 시공간적 변동해석 (Analysis on the temporal and spatial variation of groundwater recharge rate in Jeongup area)

  • 기존에 국내외에서 적용되는 지하수 함양량 추정방법인 기저유출 분리법, 연단위 물수지 분석법, 지하수위변동법 등은 집중형 개념을 기반으로 하거나 국지적인 규모로 다뤄지기 때문에 함양량의 시공간적 변동성을 나타내기에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시공간적으로 변하는 지하수 함양량을 정량적으로 추정할 수 있는 기법을 이용, 실제 유역에 적용하였다. 이를 위해 강우-유출 모형은 수문성분 해석 이론이 잘 정립된 SWAT모형과 SWAT모형의 지하수 부분을 MODFLOW모형으로 대체한 SWAT-MODFLOW모형을 선택하였고, 분석 대상유역인 정읍지역을 대상으로 각 소유역 및 수문학적 반응단위(Hydrologic Response Unit: HRU)별로 토지이용과 토양통 특성을 반영하여 지하수 함양량의 시공간적인 변화를 산정하였다. 2001년부터 2008년까지의 소유역별 일단위 지하수 함양량을 산정하였으며, 함양량의 시 공간적 변동성을 분석한 결과 월평균 함양량의 경우 대략 280mm 범위 내에서 유역의 토지이용 및 토양특성, 경사 등에 따라 매우 비 균질하게 분포하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이렇게 산정한 함양량은 지역지하수 관리계획에 유연하고 합리적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Frequency-Based Image Analysis of Random Patterns: an Alternative Way to Classical Stereocorrelation

  • The paper presents an alternative way to classical stereocorrelation. First, 2D image processing of random patterns is described. Sub-pixel displacements are determined using phase analysis. Then distortion evaluation is presented. The distortion is identified without any assumption on the lens model because of the use of a grid technique approach. Last, shape measurement and shape variation is caught by fringe projection. Analysis is based on two pin-hole assumptions for the video-projector and the camera. Then, fringe projection is coupled to in-plane displacement to give rise to 3D measurement set-up. Metrological characterization shows a resolution comparable to classical (stereo) correlation technique ($1/100^{th}$ pixel). Spatial resolution seems to be an advantage of the method, because of the use of temporal phase stepping (shape measurement, 1 pixel) and windowed Fourier transform (in plane displacements measurement, 9 pixels). Two examples are given. First one is the study of skin properties; second one is a study on leather fabric. In both cases, results are convincing, and have been exploited to give mechanical interpretation.

동아시아 해역의 표층 순열속 변동과 한반도 기온 및 강수량 변동의 상관성 분석 (Correlation Analysis Between the Variation of Net Surface Heat Flux Around the East Asian Seas and the Air T emperature and Precipitation Over the Korean Peninsula)

  • In this study, using 16 ORA-IP (Ocean Reanalysis Intercomparison Project) data, we investigated spatial and temporal changes of net surface heat flux in the East Asian seas and presented a new ensemble net surface heat flux index. The ensemble net surface heat flux index is produced considering the data distribution and the standard deviation of each ORA-IP. From the correlation analysis with air temperature averaged over the Korean Peninsula, ensemble net heat flux around the Korea Strait shows the highest correlation (0.731) with a 3 month time lag. For the correlation study regarding precipitation over the Korean Peninsula, it also shows significant correlation especially in winter and spring seasons. Similar results are also found in comparison with climate indices (AO, PDO, and NINO3.4), but ensemble net surface heat flux data in winter season reveals the strongest correlation patterns especially with winter temperature and spring precipitation.

대기-해양 결합 자료동화가 서해 연안지역의 기상예측에 미치는 영향 연구 (Effect of a Coupled Atmosphere-ocean Data Assimilation on Meteorological Predictions in the West Coastal Region of Korea)

  • The effect of coupled data assimilation (DA) on the meteorological prediction in the west coastal region of Korea was evaluated using a coupled atmosphere-ocean model (e.g., COAWST) in the spring (March 17-26) of 2019. We performed two sets of simulation experiments: (1) with the coupled DA (i.e., COAWST_DA) and (2) without the coupled DA (i.e., COAWST_BASE). Overall, compared with the COAWST_BASE simulation, the COAWST_DA simulation showed good agreement in the spatial and temporal variations of meteorological variables (sea surface temperature, air temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity) with those of the observations. In particular, the effect of the coupled DA on wind speed was greatly improved. This might be primarily due to the prediction improvement of the sea surface temperature resulting from the coupled DA in the study area. In addition, the improvement of meteorological prediction in COAWST_DA simulation was also confirmed by the comparative analysis between SST and other meteorological variables (sea surface wind speed and pressure variation).
