Robust Audio Watermarking Algorithm with Less Deteriorated Sound (음질 열화를 줄이고 공격에 강인한 오디오 워터마킹 알고리듬)

  • This paper proposes a robust audio watermarking algorithm for copyright protection and improvement of sound quality after embedding a watermark into an original sound. The proposed method computes the FFT (fast Fourier transform) of the original sound signal and divides the spectrum into a subbands. Then, it is necessary to calculate the energy of each subband and sort n subbands in descending order corresponding to its power. After calculating the energy we choose k subbands in sorted order and find p peaks in each selected subbands, and then embed a length m watermark around the p peaks. When the listeners hear the watermarked sound, they do not recognize any distortions. Furthermore, the proposed method is robust as much as Cox's method to MP3 compression, cropping, FFT echo attacks. In addition to this, the experimental results show that the proposed method is generally 10 dB higher than Cox's method in SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) aspect.

  • In this paper noise source and transfer path of tactical vehicle are analyzed with partial coherence function and spectrum analysis. Engine, transmission, structure panel and aerodynamic are main source of cabin noise. To reduce cabin noise, identifying transfer path of sources and analyzing their contribution is important. With modeling of transfer path and partial coherence function, transfer path and principal noise source can be identified. Engine/transmission and structural resonance are principal source of low frequency noise and by adding stiffener and sound absorbing material, resonance of vibration and inflow air problem can be solved.

Ambient Underwater Noise in the Somjin Estuary (섬진강 하구에서의 수중 환경 소음)

  • This paper describes that air noise and underwater noise in the Somjin Estuary are measured and analysed to get the basic data to find out the influence of environment on the underwater. The results obtained are summerized as follows: 1. The spectrum level of air noise in the Somjin Estuary increases until 500Hz, and decreases a little over 2KHz. 2. The spectrum level of underwater noise in the Somjin Estuary increases from 50 Hz to 1 KHz, but it decreases over 1 KHz as the depth is deeper. 3. When the influence of other factors is scarce but the influence of flowing speed is significant, the noise level seems to be higher at speedy layer than at slower layer. 4. The underwater sound level seems to be wider at speedy layer than at slower layer.

Sound Intensity Estimation with the Effect of Leakage Error from the Contaminated Data (누설오차의 영향을 고려한 음향 인텐시티의 추정)

  • Acoustic intensity is usually estimated by the cross-spectrum of acoustic pressure at two adjacent micrphones. The cross-spectrum calculated by digital Fourier transform technique will unavoidally have leakage error since the period of signal will not be usually coincident with record length. Therefore, the acoustic intensity estimated by the conventional r]n analyzer will show distorted value. In this paper the expression of the Fourier transformed data of a harmonic signal is formulated when there is leakage error. The method to elimate the effect of leakage error from the contaminated data is also proposed. Some numerical examples show the validation of the proposed method.

Investigation of the Dynamic Properties of Railway Tracks using a Model for Calculation of Generation of Wheel/Rail Noise

  • For optimization of a low-noise track system, rail vibration and noise radiation needs to be investigated. The main influencing parameters for the noise radiation and the quantitative results of every track system can be obtained using a calculation model of generation and radiation of railway noise. This kind of model includes contact modeling and the calculation model of the dynamic properties of the wheel and the rail. This study used a nonlinear wheel/rail interaction model in the time domain to investigate the excitation of the rolling noise. Wheel/rail response is determined by time integrating Green's function of the rail together with force impulses from the wheel/rail contact. This model and the results of the study can be used for supporting calculation with the conventional model by an addition of the contributions due to nonlinearities to the roughness spectrum.

Estimation and Extraction of Unstable Frequency Lines of Acoustic Signal Using Neural Network

  • In passive sonar, underwater moving objects are identified by the acoustic sounds they transmit. The spectrum of these sounds show features about the mechanism of the sound source, these features are discrete frequencies on the spectrum and frequency lines on the spectrogram. Variability in the underwater environment produce discontinuous broken or unstable fluctuating frequency lines. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm that estimate continuities of the discontinuous frequency lines and extract presence of the unstable frequency lines using neural networks and represent the proposed algorithm shows good performance in estimation and extraction the unstable frequency lines through the experiments.

A Study on Measuring the Speaking Rate of Speaking Signal by Using Line Spectrum Pair Coefficients

  • Speaking rate represents how many phonemes in speech signal have in limited time. It is various and changeable depending on the speakers and the characters of each phoneme. The preprocessing to remove the effect of variety of speaking rate is necessary before recognizing the speech in the present speech recognition systems. So if it is possible to estimate the speaking rate in advance, the performance of speech recognition can be higher. However, the conventional speech vocoder decides the transmission rate for analyzing the fixed period no regardless of the variety rate of phoneme but if the speaking rate can be estimated in advance, it is very important information of speech to use in speech coding part as well. It increases the quality of sound in vocoder as well as applies the variable transmission rate. In this paper, we propose the method for presenting the speaking rate as parameter in speech vocoder. To estimate the speaking rate, the variety of phoneme is estimated and the Line Spectrum Pairs is used to estimate it. As a result of comparing the speaking rate performance with the proposed algorithm and passivity method worked by eye, error between two methods is 5.38% about fast utterance and 1.78% about slow utterance and the accuracy between two methods is 98% about slow utterance and 94% about fast utterances in 30 dB SNR and 10 dB SNR respectively.

An Experimental Study on the Supersonic Jet Noise from Multihole (다공 초음속 분류소음에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The objective of this paper is to study experimentally on the noise characteristics of supersonic jet from multihole orifice in the range of jet pressure from $at_g$ to $at_g$ in the reverberation room. At first, the single orifice jets are investigated for various hole diameter from 3.8mm to 10mm. Through the noise spectrum, the turbulent mixing noise and the shock associated noise is analyzed. The noise for confined jets into a tube of diameter 30mm or 90mm with length 2m is investigated in comparision with that for the free jets. The sound power level is measured and compared with thoretical models for free jet. At second, multihole orifice jets are investigated to study the effect of multijet on noise reduction. The spectrum and power level of multijets are measured and compared with single jets. The multi-jets in a confined pipe are also investigated. It is found that the noise spectrum is significantly altered by increasing the number of jet with decrease in jet diameter and also by confining the jet into tube.

Support of Automatic Calibration for Computerized Puretone Audiometer Using Linux Real-time Spectrum Analyzer (리눅스 실시간 스펙트럼 분석기를 이용한 컴퓨터 기반 순음청력검사 시스템의 자동 보정 지원)

  • Compared to conventional pure-tone audiometer(PTA), the computerized one has several advantages such as relatively lower price, better flexibility, and easy operation. In addition, the computerized PTA can be easily extended to support automatic calibration. In this study, the support of automatic calibration in the computerized PTA has been addressed using the Linux realtime spectrum analyzer and network. In terms of accuracy, the new automatic calibration machine was compared to the existing manually operated one. According to the comparison, normal operation and high accuracy were observed within the scope of the international standard.
