In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of the magnitude and the phase of the piano sound in frequency domain by using the FFT(Fast Fourier Transform). The method deciding the parameters representing those sounds through the mathematical model is described. We used the curve fitting method for the modeling of the harmonic part of the sound including the fundamental frequency in order to minimize the errors between original sounds and modeled sounds. furthermore, we used the line segment approximation method for the modeling of the noise part around fundamental frequency. We also applied the same method for the phase model and could get the modeled sound to be similar to the original sound using the parameters. Therefore the high compression ratio comparing the modeled sound to the original sound is achieved.

This paper proposes a spherical probe allowing acoustic intensity measurements in three dimensions to be made, which creates a diffracted field that is well-defined, thanks to analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. Six microphones are distributed on the surface of the sphere along three rectangular axes. Its measurement technique is not based on finite difference approximation, as is the case for the ID probe but on the analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. In fact, the success of sound source identification depends on the inverse models used to estimate inverse diffraction phenomena, which has non-linear properties. In this paper, we introduce the concept of nonlinear inverse diffraction modeling using a neural network and the idea of 3 dimensional sound source identification with several tests.

Diffraction systematically causes error in acoustic measurements. Most probes are designed to reduce this phenomenon. On the contrary, this paper proposes a spherical probe a] lowing acoustic inten sity measurements in three dimensions to be made, which creates a diffracted field that is well-defined, thanks to analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. Six microphones are distributed on the surface of the sphere along three rectangular axes. Its measurement technique is not based on finite difference approximation, as is the case for the ID probe but on the analytic solution of diffraction phenomena. In fact, the success of sound source identification depends on the inverse models used to estimate inverse diffraction phenomena, which has nonlinear properties. In this paper, we propose the concept of nonlinear inverse diffraction modeling using a neural network and the idea of 3 dimensional sound source identification with better performances. A number of computer simulations are carried out in order to demonstrate the diffraction phenomena under various angles. Simulations for the inverse modeling of diffraction phenomena have been successfully conducted in showing the superiority of the neural network.
The acoustical sources of intake and exhaust systems in fluid machines are often characterized by the source impedance and strength using linear frequency-domain modeling. In the case of the sources which are nonlinear and time-variant, however, the source parameters were sometimes incorrectly obtained. In this paper, the source model and direct measurement technique are modified in order to evaluate the effect due to nonlinear and periodically time-varying source character as well as the linear property of the reflectivity of in-duct fluid machine source. With a priori known kinematical information of the source, the types of nonlinear time-variant terms can be presumed by a simple physical model, in which there is practically no restriction on the form of the model. The concept of source impedance can be extendable by introducing the linear frequency response function for each nonlinear or time-variant input. Extending the conventional method and adapting the reverse MISO technique, it is possible to develop a direct method that can deal with the nonlinear time-variant source parameters. The proposed direct method has a novel feature that there is no restriction on the probability or spectral natures of the excited sound pressure data. The present method is verified by the simulated measurements for simplified fluid machines. It is thought that the proposed method would be useful in predicting the insertion loss or the radiated sound level from intake or exhaust systems.

Directivity control technology of sound system is a key technology for improving sound quality. Providing a line source rather than a point source in an acoustic system can reduce the effects of attenuation interference at long distances, thereby providing high quality sound. In particular, A line-array speaker system can be used to provide coherent, high-quality sound over long distances. However, high frequencies have shorter wavelengths, so the distance between the speakers of a line array system must be shorter, but there are physical limitations. In this paper, we designed a wave guide and installed it in the speaker's compression driver to solve this problem. We measured and tested various acoustic characteristics to verify the performance of the speaker. As a result, when the line array sound system is constructed using the developed speakers, it is possible to provide a line source in all areas including the treble range, thereby achieving the same effect as a single extended source and providing high quality sound up to far distances.
This research studies the effects of community noise around railway, noise from the inside/outside noise of the High-Speed EMU. First study part of this year is research of the noise source. The modeling methodology for prediction of noise level including the frequency property, velocity dependence, sound pressure of noise source is investigate. Second part is research on the sound transmission loss. An exclusive program which could analyze the sound transmission loss of the floor, the sides(mirror), insulator in High-Speed EMU has to be developed. Third part is research on the train inside/outside and Prediction for community Noise. In order to predict the noise when the High-Speed EMU is traveling at the outside and along tunnels, the result of the research can be derived by evaluating the effect of the noise on the upper/middle parts of the carriage and on the railroad way round about with using the program.

In environment of torpedo firing, underwater acoustic signal is generated by target and noise. Sound wave which is generated from acoustic signal is propagated by seawater and it is received through the sonar(sound navigation and ranging) system mounted on torpedo. In the ocean, acoustic signal or sound wave from target that is generated by the spread of broadband can be attenuated by ambient noise and can be lost by medium and environment. This research is designed to support teamwork training in Naval operations by constructing a simulation system that is more similar to the real-world conditions. This paper attempts to research the modeling of target detection and to develop the simulation of torpedo sonar(TOSO). In order to develop the realistic simulation, we researched the broadband sound modeling of target and noise source, the modeling of acoustic transmission loss by chemical component of seawater, and the modeling of signal attenuation by ambient noise environment which is approximated by experimental measurements in seawater surrounding the Korea Peninsular and by experience of Navy's actual torpedo firing. This research contributed to constructing more practical simulation of torpedo firing in real time and the results of this research were used to develop a teamwork training system for the Navy and their education.

The more sophisticated patterns of propagation model is presented in this paper, which includes three different source characteristics. The spherical, cosine and dipole radiation characteristics compared and sound event level and the maximum sound level are calculated by experiment and calculation. It is shown that patterns of propagation has dipole characteristics for low speed range(below about 150km/h) at electric multiple system. We know that push-pull high speed system(maximum speed: 300km/h) has cosine characteristics of noise propagation. For this purpose, We conduct the experiment of noise and know the empirical formula of noise level and radiation coefficient K. This model of simulation is conducted through point source array model at wheel/rail contact point by using program and experimental formula. We can guess prediction of profile, flat and wear of wheel by above modeling in near field.
To identify the locations and strengths of acoustic sources, one may use a microphone line array. Apparent advantage of the source identification method utilizing a line array is that it requires less measurement points than intensity method and holography. This method is based on the information of magnitude and phase difference between pressure signals at each microphone. Since those differences are dependent on the source model, we have to assume them such as plane, monopole, etc. In this paper the conventional source identification methods such as beamforming method and MUSIC method are briefly reviewed by modeling a source as plane and spherical wave, then a modified method is introduced. This can be applied to sound field which may by either coherent or incoherent. Typical simulations and experiment are performed to confirm this identification method.

To do a HRTF customization, researchers used a spherical head model for modeling the head block of structural modeling of HRTF, which is the one of the technique for HRTF customization, because of its simplicity. In this paper, an analytic spheroidal HRTF caused by an incident point source will be introduced. Using proposed spheroidal HRTF, near-field HRTF customization can be applicable through a structural modeling of HRTF. To see the necessity of sheroidal head model, comparison of two analytic solutions, which are classical spherical HRTF and proposed spheroidal HRTF, will be shown. On the view point of ITD, optimal head model which matches with the measured ITD of KEMAR HRTF can be obtained. ITD results show that there are only slight differences between spherical and spheroidal head model. Magnitude comparison is made by constructing head model using measured head size. Although magnitude comparison is not studied between optimal models, the results of 24 of 36 subjects are shown that spheroidal head model matches notch frequency pattern of measured HRTF better than those of spherical one, where the sound source is at contralateral position.
