Succeeding to Report 1, to compare folded curtain fabrics with curtain fabrics, the sound pressure level (SPL) of folded curtain fabrics were measured by sound level meter. Transmission coefficient was calculated by the ratio of incidence sound intensity and transmission sound intensity. The relationship between these values and factors (drape coefficient, porosity) relating to the structure of curtain fabrics were investigated experimentally. The following results were obtained: 1. The transmission coefficient by ratio of sound pressure level was lower than that by ratio of sound intensity. 2. In folded curtain fabrics, difference of SPL was smaller and transmission coefficient generally decreased. 3. The relation between the porosity and transmission coefficient of curtain fabrics is given as plus correlation.

When we evaluate sound, there are various methods for noise such as A-weighted SPL(sound pressure level), NC(noise criteria), NR(noise rating) and SIL(speech interference level) etc. however, it is not sufficient for the sounds supplied to public places used in soundscape design. Consequently it is needed to develop the tool for evaluating the good acoustical environment and futhermore quantifying the effect of improvement by supplying sound sources. In this study, it was tried to analyse the sound sources applied for soundscape design using sound quality parameters. The sound sources used were natural sound artificial sound. For the sound quality parameters, Loudness(L), Sharpness(S), Fluctuation strength(FL), Tonality(T), Roughness(R), Unbiased Annoyance(UA) were used and sound quality values were compared both natural and artificial sounds, depending on the convolution of sound sources with background noise, the duration, the frequency contents and the SPL. As a result, the values of L and UA have shown to be changed comparing to the other parameters, and it is necessary to analyse the correlation with subjects' responses.
This study aims to review the propagation characteristics of fire alarm sound in building through computer simulation. In order to achieve this goal, the sound power level of existing three different emergency alarms were measured in an anechoic chamber. Sound power level of alarm bell was 98.6dB and electronic-siren speaker was 95.7dB, and electronic-siren phon was 101.8dB at the voltage of DC 24V in the condition of anechoic chamber. As the results of acoustic simulation, it was shown that sound levels at the corridor of the building were relatively high and even. But, there were large difference in sound level at all the frequency bands between corridor and lecture rooms. This mean that alarm sound couldn't be recognized sometimes in lecture rooms. Through the computer simulation, the propagation characteristics of fire alarm sound could be forecasted and compared due to plans of buildings.
In order to obtain the fishing possibility by acoustic, the two fishes, Lateolabrax japonicus, Mugil cephalus, were bred in a water tank. The feeding sounds from the fishes and the artificial sounds were recorded by a hydrophone and then the frequency and the sound pressure level of the sounds recorded were analyzed by the digital frequency analyzer. These sounds were edited in two manners of which one is emitted for 10 seconds and paused for 10 seconds continuously and the other is emitted for 20 seconds and paused for 20 seconds also. These edited sounds were emitted again into the tank and the respose of fisher were observed. Lateolebrax japonicus showed a positive response and Mugil cephalus responsed a little positively to the emitted feeding sound, The fishes seemed to show a positive response only in emitting a moderate pressure level of feeding sound. Lateolabrax japonicus and Mugil cephalus showed negative response to the emitted artificial sound. It was most effective to increase the sound pressure level that the fishes went away from the sound source to the emitted artificial sound.

As structure-borne sound, the floor impact sound is one of the serious noises in residential building. Most of heating system applied to the typical Korean residential building is floor heating system which is called ondol. The ondol usually consists of finishing material, mortar with heating coil, light-weight aerated concrete and reinforced concrete. This study focused on the isolation of heavy-weight impact sound and modification of mortar and light-weight aerated concrete. Specifically the glass foam aggregate was added on light-weight aerated concrete. Also, water-cement ratio and amount of cement on mortar were revised. The sound pressure level of heavy-weight impact was measured in reverberation chamber using both bang-machine and impact ball. The size of specimen was 1 m by 1 m. Substitution ratio of glass foam aggregate on light-weight aerated concrete shows relationship with heavy-weight impact sound pressure level. In addition, heavy-weight impact sound pressure level was decreased with increment of water-cement ratio and amount of cement on mortar.

The sound quality characteristics of refrigerator noise in an anechoic chamber and in a real living environment for 30 models of refrigerators were investigated. Subjective evaluation experiments were conducted to determine subjective tolerance level for refrigerator noise. Refrigerator noise was played from a loudspeaker at the position normally occupied by a refrigerator in a real living environment. A nine-point scale was used to measure subjective satisfaction of the sound pressure levels for refrigerator noise. Point 3 on the scale corresponded to a sound pressure level of about 30 dB(A). Seventy percent of the participants were satisfied with this level of refrigerator noise. A semantic differential test was also conducted to evaluate the sound quality of refrigerator noise. From the results of correlation and multiple regression analyses on the psychoacoustical parameters and subjective evaluations of 30 refrigerators, sound quality indices which predict the subjective rating score were proposed.

The quality of various noises generated in the refrigerator is one of the important factors in deciding quality of the product. The main focus of sound control design has been shifted from reduction of sound level to improvement of sound duality for customer's preference. Up to date the purpose of noise control is the minimization of noise level. However despite of gradual decrease of noise level, occasionally the perceptional quality of noise has not been improved. In this paper, the relation between subjective and objective evaluation of sound quality has established and sound quality index is developed using ANN for evaluation of refrigerator's noise of both the starting noise and the stable running noise of compressor. To verify the usefulness of the index, the results in this paper have been compared with those surveyed by Consumer Union in USA.
We study the characteristics of airflow and sound noise induced by disk rotation in optical disk drives. The characteristics of airflow around a rotating disk surrounded by various tray structures are numerically investigated using a commercial CFD program and then compared with experimental results. Sound pressure and intensity caused by the fluid-structure interactions in the CD/DVD-ROM drive are measured, and the effect of the ariflow on the sound noise and disk vibration is discussed. In order to reduce airflow-induced noise and vibration around the rotating disk, tray geometry is modified. Both numerical and experimental studies implemented with different tray models show that the improved tray model alters the characteristics of the disk-induced airflow, causing the reduction of the airflow-induced sound level.
There are many attempts to make more comfortable amenity in city districts and streets to provide a soundscape design. And the sound which reflects the culture and peculiarity of characterized the street must be preserved. Thus these attempts are recognized as another noise control to give the suitable environmental sound, not to reduce noise level. This study aims to analyze the behavior of the pedestrian and sound environment of the street sound, by measuring the sound level for the Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street. As the results, it is advisable to use the natural water sound dominating the district and to provide the staying spot to watch the event to be held. The results of this study could be used as fundamental data to recover the image of Insa-Dong Traditional Culture street to consider design concept of soundscape.

In 2005, a regulation on the heavy-weight impact sound was released, which restricted concrete slab thickness of standard floor to 210mm. To reduce heavy-weight impact sound, damping materials and structural reinforcement system have been proposed. In this study, the effect of compressive strength on the heavy-weight impact vibration and sound were investigated. FEM analysis was conducted for the 34PY apartment with different concrete strength (210, 350, 420kg/cm$^2$). In addition, apartment floors with different concrete strength were constructed and the floor impact vibration and sound were measured. Results of FEM analysis and measurement show that the resonance frequency of concrete slab was increased by the increment of concrete strength. However, floor impact sound pressure level did not decrease because the nor impact vibration and sound pressure level in 63Hz band increased.
