Preparation and Coating of Artificial Pearl using Inorganic Pigment (무기안료를 이용한 인공진주 코팅 및 제조)

  • Humanity has tended pursuing beauty. Pearls has been loved by many people for thousands of years as a symbol of wealth and status. Today, Artificial pearl were made using organic pigment due to bright colors and easy coating process. But the new coating technique is required due to low durability, weather resistance and difficulty of luxurious luster expression. This study, nitrocellulose and urethane were used as binder and inorganic pigment were used to expression of colors. Experimental variable of artificial pearl with nitrocellulose and solvent ratio, urethane and curing agent ratio, the amount of pearl number of coating, drying temperature and time, and coating technology was developed. The coated artificial pearl was evaluated with color-difference meter, ultraviolet ray resistance, promotion weathering. Urethane was better than nitrocellulose when compared with weather resistance, acid-alkalinity resistance.

Synthesis and Characteristics of Unsaturated Polyester Modified with Rosin Containing 2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate (2-Hydroxyethylmethacrylate가 도입된 로진 변성 불포화 폴리에스테르의 합성과 그 특성)

  • Unsaturated diol (UD) was prepared from the esterification of maleic anhydride with diethylene glycol (DEG). Unsaturated polyesters modified with rosin (UPMR) or with rosin maleic anhydride adduct (RMA) from 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) and rosin (UPMRH) were prepared by the reaction of UD with RMA or RMA-HEMA. After crosslinking of UPMR and UPMRH with styrene and methylmethacrylate (MMA), respectively, solvent resistance, tensile strength, and adhesion property of the resins were measured. UPMR crosslinked with styrene or MMA shows an excellent resistance to water and acid. Solvents resistance and tensile strength of UPMR using styrene as crosslinking agent were increased compared with those of UPMR using MMA as crosslinking agent. UPMRH showed better solvents resistance and tensile strength than UPMR. Adhesion strengths of UPMR crosslinked with styrene and MMA were 1.61 and 3.02 MPa, and those of UPMRH were 2.32 and 3.89 MPa, respectively.

Study on the Improvement of Physicochemical Properties of PEDOT-Metal Oxide Composite Thin Film by Vapor Phase Polymerization (기상중합법으로 제조된 Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)-금속산화물 복합 박막의 물리화학적 물성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • The physicochemical properties such as surface hardness, solvent mechanical wear resistance, and resistance to scratch properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) thin film prepared by vapor phase polymerization (VPP) was effectively improved by post-treatment of various metal alkoxide sol solutions. Metal oxide layer derived from sol-gel process of metal alkoxide was generated on the PEDOT thin film layer by VPP, resulting in improving mechanical properties of the conductive thin films without any deterioration of their original surface resistance. Several kinds of silicone and titanium alkoxide derivatives with various functional groups were used as metal alkoxide sol sources. Among them, PEDOT-metal oxide composite thin film derived tetraethyl orthosilicate showed the best performance in the terms of surface resistance, transmittance, and various physicochemical properties. The effect of metal alkoxide content in washing solution, oxidant content and drying temperature have been investigated in order to optimize the various properties of PEDOT-metal oxide composite thin film.

Preparation and Characterization of Removal-type Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive (4원 아크릴계 박리형 점착제의 제조와 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the properties of the copolymer and the terpolymer that was used as removal-type pressure sensitive adhesive(PSA), we synthesized quaterpolymer with the variation of the types of monomer, initiator, and solvent, and concentration, the monomer/solvent ratio, reaction temperature and time. and determined the properties of this adhesive: the viscosity, molecular weight, conversion, solid content and structure of polymer. The prepared polymer was crosslinked by changing the type of crosslinking agent and concentration, and then we investigated the characteristics or adhesive such as peel adhesion, shear adhesion, heat resistance, weathering resistance and peel adhesion to aging. The optimum performance of RA/2- EHA/MMA/2-HEMA as a PSA were obtained when benzoyl peroxide was used as an initiator with the reactant mixture consisted of 80% BA and 2-EHA, 15%, MMA, and 5% 2-HFMA. The optimum reaction temperature and time were $80^{\circ}C$ and 8 hours, respectively. For BA/2-EHA/MMA/AA, the optimum performance was obtained when the polymerization was performed at the monomer composition of 80% BA/2-EHA, 15% MMA, and 5% AA. BPO was used as initiator and the optimum reaction temperature and time were identical to those of BA/2-EHA/MMA/ 2-HEMA. Isocyanate and melamine were used to crosslink BA/2-EHA/MMA/2-HEMA and BA/2-EHA/MMA/AA, respectively. No effect on the type of cross-linking agent on the peel adhesion was observed with aging. The quarterpolymers crosslinked with melamine left residues on the counter surface after weathering resistance test, while the polymers crosslinked with isocyanate did not.

Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) Coatings Fabricated Using Mixed ITO Sols

  • ITO films were achieved by sintering at $500{\sim}550{^{\circ}C}$. This was possible by inducing a seeding effect on an ITO sol by producing crystalline ITO nanoparticles in situ during heat treatment. Two kinds of ITO sols (named ITO-A and ITO-B) were prepared at 2.0 wt% from indium acetate and tin(IV) chloride in different mixed solvents. The ITO-A sol showed a high degree of crystallinity of ITO without any detectable Sn$O_2$ on XRD at $350{^{\circ}C}$/1 h, but the ITO-B sol showed a small amount of Sn$O_2$ even after annealing at $600{^{\circ}C}$/1 h. The 10 wt% ITO-A//ITO-B showed the sheet resistance of 3600$\Omega$/□, while the ITO-B sol alone showed 5200 $\Omega$/□ by sintering at $550{^{\circ}C}$ for 30 min. Processing parameters were studied by TG/DSC, XRD, SEM, sheet resistance, and visible transmittance.

A study on Mechanical properties of Waterborne polyurethane dispersion by Monoammonium phosphate (Monoamonium Phosphate를 이용한 수분산 폴리우레탄 수지의 합성과 물성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we have synthesized waterborne polyurethane dispersion(WPU) and analyzed mechanical properties of WPU film and leather coatings in different content of monoammonium phosphate. According to the measured data by DSC, sample WPU-AM3 which included high content of monoammonium phosphate showed the highest Tm at $382^{\circ}C$. All samples had good solvent resistance. In tensile tests, WPU-AM3($2.130kg_f/mm^2$) had the lowest physical properties. Also abrasion resistance properteis and elongation properties were investigated, WPU-AM3 had lowest physical properties with 52.07 mg.loss for abraison and 615 % of elongation.

Curing Reaction and Physical Properties of High-Solid Acrylic/Isocyanate Coatings (하이솔리드 아크릴/이소시아네이트 도료의 경화반응과 도막물성)

  • In the previous study, three kinds of monomers and the functional monomer, acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM), which could improve the film property and cross-linkage, were polymerzied into acrylic resin copolymers (HSA-98-20, HSA-98-0, HSA-98+20) containing 80% solid content. In this study, the high-solid coatings(HSA-98-20C, HSA-98-0C, HSA-98+20C) were prepared by the curing reaction between acrylic resins containing 80% solid content and isocyanate at room temperature. Various properties were examined for the film coated with the prepared high-solid coatings. The introduction of AAEM in the coatings enhanced the abrasion resistance and solvent resistance of coatings, which indicated the possible use of high-solid coatings for top-coating materials of automobile. The curing times measured by viscoelastic measurement were 350, 264, and 212 min for HSA-98-20C, HSA-98-0C, and HSA-98+20C, respectively. This shows that the curing times become shorter with increasing $T_g$ values.

  • Ultrafiltration membranes (UF) were manufactured by the conventional phase inversion method using an additives with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone as a solvent. Characteristics of performance could be controlled by the preparation conditions and the operating methods. The fouling resistance was observed by the relative ratio of permeate flux $(J_t)$/pure water flux $(J_o)$. Compared with the anion charged membranes and its original polyamide membrane, fouling resistance to the protein was increasing in proportion to the ion exchange capacity. The relative flux for the bovin serum albumin (BSA) solution increased as pH value further away from isoelectric point of BSA. The hydrophilicity of a membrane, the pH condition, and the operating temperature played the important role in the membrane permeations.

  • Water-based acrylic sizing agent(GSW-7000) was prepared by emulsion copolymerization for sizing polyester yarns. Ammonium salt version of the acrylic sizing agent offered greater abrasion resistance to weaving forces and water resistance for water jet loom. GSW-7000 exhibited proper viscosity for sizing, high penetration ability and excellent adhesion to polyester yarn. It was possible to reduce the size pick-up to 70~80% of ordinary solvent-based sizing agent due to excellent adhesive strength of GSW-7000.

Thermal Process Optimization of Pb-free Ag-paste and Evaluation of Electrical Properties in Mono-Si Solar Cell (단결정 Si 태양전지 적용을 위해 제조된 무연 은 페이스트의 열 공정 최적화 및 전기적 특성 평가)

  • Two kind of Ag-pastes were prepared for integrating the bulk Si solar cell. One is the Ag-paste with Pb-based glass frit and the other is that with Bi-based glass frit. The pastes were the mixture of 84 wt% Ag, 2 wt% glass frit, 11 wt% solvent of buthyl cabitol acetate, and 2 wt% additives. After fabricating the Ag-pastes, they was coated on a $SiN_x$/n+/p- stacks of a commercial mono-Si solar cell. The solar cell efficiency was 17.6% in the case of the Pb-based Ag-paste. However that was 16.2% in the solar cell integrated with the Bi-based Ag-paste. The lower performance in Bi-based Ag-paste was caused by the higher series resistance and the lower shunt resistance in comparison with the Pb-based Ag-paste.
