  • Kami Eui In Tang is being used as a treatment oral medicament on the appendicitis and peritonitis without surgical operation resulting good effect. The component of the medicament are as follow : Coix ma yuen, Paeonia moutan, Patrinia scabiosifolia, Rheum, Coreanum, Cory-dalis nakaii, Trichosanthes kirilowii, Lonicera japonica, Prunus persica, Tarxacum officinale, Author tried to make clear the ant inflammatory effect on rat paw which has become edema formation by carrageenin and detect the active ingredients by thin layer chromatography method. The material was extracted with three kind of solvent; distilled water, 50% ethyl alcohol, and ether which were immersed in material for 48 hours and concentrated to 10ml by evaporation of solvents. The result was as follow: 1. The anti-inflammatory effect of the sample material on the. edema formed at the rat paw was obviously clear. 2. Many spots of active ingredients were detected on the silica gel G plate spotted by ether extracted material than water one. 3. The good developing solvent was the mixture of $CHCl_3$ ; Acetone : Diethylamine (5:4:1).

  • The intramolecular cyclization of 1,1-bis-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethane was shown to take place upon anodic oxidation at carbon electrodes in acetonitrile or in a solvent-mixture containing dichloromethane, trifluoroacetic acid(TFA). Yields are low in the former solvent due to the fact that the cyclized product (9-methyl-2,3,6,7-tetramethoxyfluorene) is more easily oxidized than it's precursor and the oxidation product is not stable. In the presence of TFA, the cation radical derived from the oxidation of the cyclized product is stabilized thus, after reduction may be isolated with better yields.

  • Two commercially available lipases, Lipase OF (non-specific lipase from Candida rugosa) and Lipolase 100T (1, 3-specific lipase from Aspergillus niger), were immobilized on insoluble hydrophobic support HDPE (high density polyethylene) by the physical adsorption method. Hydrolysis performance was enhanced by mixing a non-specific Lipase OF and a 1, 3-specific Lipolase 100T at a 2 : 1 ratio. The results also showed that the immobilized lipase maintained its activity at broader temperature ($25~55^{\circ}C$) and pH (4-8) ranges than soluble lipases. In the presence of organic solvent (isooctane), the immobilized lipase retained most of its activity in upto 12 runs of hydrolysis experiment. However, without organic solvent in the reaction mixture, the immobilized lipase maintained most of its activity even after 20 runs of hydrolysis experiment.

  • This study was investigated to evaluate worker exposures to organic solvents by type of print industry. Results were as follows; 1. Workers were exposed to mixture of toluene, isopropyl alcohol(IPA), methyl ethyl ketone(MEK), n-hexane, ethylacetate(EA), acetone. The components of high exposure solvents were toluene, IPA and MEK. 2. Considering additive effects of the compounds, exposure indices(Em) were calculated. The Mean of exposure indices were 1.79 for Gravere, 0.41 for Screen and 0.14 for Opset workplace. The workers of Gravere workplace were estimated to overexpose for solvents. 3. The highest overexposed solvent was toluene for a single component. The rate of overexposed level for toluene was 7.41% for some print workplace and for mixed solvent was 1.85%. 4. Local exhaust systems were inappropriate and respiratory protective devices were not supplied to the workers. 5. Sound level was over 90dB(A) in Opset print workplace and some measures should be performed to get down the sound level.

  • Biodegradable poly[(glycine ethyl ester)-(phenylalanine ethyl ester) phosphazene](PGPP) microparticles were fabricated by electrohydrodynamic atomization to apply drug release test. Atomization parameters such as applied voltage, polymer concentration, and molecular weight were investigated to inspect their effects on the size and morphology of microparticles. The average diameter of PGPP microparticles decreased as increasing applied voltage and solution flow rate. Dichloromethane/dioxane mixture shows better results for the preparation of microparticles than single solvent owing to the different PGPP solubility in solvent. Blending PGPP polymers with proper molecular weights not only favored the production of spherical PGPP microparticles via electrohydrodynamic atomization, but also provided a way to adjust drug (rifampicin) release behavior. Drug-loaded biodegradable polyphosphazene microspheres can be fabricated via electrohydrodynamic atomization, which has potential use in biomedical applications.

  • A simple and convenient method of detecting N, N-dimethy laniline (D.M.A.) residues in ampicillin trihydrate (A.T.) was established. D.M.A. was extracted by chloroform from the chloroform presaturated N/10-ammonia water solution of A.T. and chromatographed on silica gel G thin layer. Blue spot appeared in 15minutes after spray of 2, 6-dichloroquinonechlorimide solution was compared with the blue spot of reference concomitantly processed. The developing solvent was prepared by mixing equal volume of cyclohexane and chloroform. To quantitate the amount of D.M.A. in A.T., T.L.C. was performed with the Eastmann Chromatogram sheet, then color density was measured by Cosmo Superclick densitometer. The developing solvent at this time was cyclohexane-chlorofonn (3+7) mixture. The peak areas obtained with the amount of D.M.A ranging from 0.05 to 2.0 .mu.g were linear to color density. Better sensitive results would be available with the densitometer equipped with monochromator.

EFfect of Molding Temperature and Debinding Conditions on Fabrication of Alumina Component by Injection Molding (금형온도와 탈지조건이 사출성형에 의한 알루미나 부품 제조에 미치는 영향)

  • Alumina powder was coated with stearic acid and then mixed with isotactic polypropylene, atactic polypropylene as binders at 15$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The mixture was then injection molded at various mold temperatures using injection molding machine to investigate the effect of the molding temperature and debinding parameters on the formation of the defects. The molded specimens were debinded in both air and nitrogen atmospheres. Wicking and solvent methods were also used to enhance debinding efficiency. The specimens were prefired at 120$0^{\circ}C$ and then sintered at 150$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Various defects were formed at mold temoperature of 3$0^{\circ}C$, 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 10$0^{\circ}C$ and any noticeable defect was not formed at 85$^{\circ}C$. The density of green body increased with mold temperature. Debinding in air atmosphere was more effective than in nitrogen atmosphere. Results also proved that wicking and solvent treatments helped minimize the number of defects.

  • We studied the effects of a single, combined and mixed exposure of benzene, toluene and xylene on the activities of rat liver microsomal AHH, ADH and ALDH, and the excretion of their metabolites in urine. The AHH activities of the rats treated in combination and mixture were slightly higher and/or similar to those rats treated with single solvent, while the reverse effects were observed for ADH and ALDH. Similar effects were observed when the metabolites were examined in urine (p < 0.01). These results suggest that each solvent might interJkre the induction and action of ADH and ALDH, and decrease the excretion of their metabolites into urine.

  • Solvent extraction of Li(I) from weak HCl solution was investigated by the mixture of TBP/MIBK with other neutral extractants such as Cyanex 923, TOPO and TOP. The TBP/MIBK organic phase was loaded with 0.1 M $FeCl_3$ at different HCl concentrations (1-9 M). Extraction of Li(I) from weak HCl solution is related to the stability of $FeCl_3$ in the organic mixture. As HCl concentration increased in preparing the loaded TBP phase, the stripping percentage of Fe(III) during the extraction of Li(I) became reduced and thus Li(I) could be extracted by ion exchange reaction with hydrogen ion in the organic. The concentration of TBP in the extractant mixture affected the stability of $FeCl_3$. Compared to TBP, Fe(III) was easily stripped from the loaded MIBK and thus no Li(I) was extracted by the mixture with MIBK. The nature of neutral extractant with TBP/MIBK showed little difference in the extraction of Li(I) and stripping of Fe(III).

  • In the reutilization process using limonene, the organic solvent to reduce volume of EPS, the AIT was measured with the variation of concentration and volume of mixture, in order to present the fund-mental data on the fire hazard assessment of limonene - EPS mixture at storage and handling. And ignition zone was compared with non-ignition zone. The equation related to AIT, activation energy and ignition delay time, used by the most scientific basis for predicting AIT values, was suggested using linear regression analysis as ln t = 0.704/T-5.819. And the equation related to concentration of mixture and AIT was also suggested to predict ignition hazard of combustible mixture using nonlinear regression analysis as $T_m/=248.32+69.27X+172.60X^2$. It enabled to predict ignition temperature according to variation of ignition delay time and concentration of mixture by the suggested equations.
