In the present study, $TiO_2$ imbedded composite powders have been successfully prepared from the (Cu. Zn)/$TiO_2$ composite salt solution. The composite (Cu, Zn)/$TiO_2$ powders were formed by drying the solution at 200~$600^{\circ}C$ in the hydrogen atmosphere. Photocatalytic characteristics was evaluated by detecting the decomposition ratio of aniline blue with UV-visible spectrophotometer(Shimazu Co., UV-1601). Phase analysis of (Cu, Zn)/$TiO_2$ composite powders was carried out by XRD and DSC, and powder size was measured with TEM. The mean particle size of composite powders was about 100mm. As the reduction temperature increases, a few zinc sulfide and oxide phases was formed and copper oxide phase was reduced. The decomposition ratio of aniline blue was about 80% under the UV irradiation by the TiO$_2$ phase in the composite (Cu, Zn)/$TiO_2$ powders and similar decomposition ratio of 80% was obtained at the UV lightless condition by virtue of Cu and Zn compounds.

$AgNO_3$ has the characteristic is controlling the inhibition or promotion of particle growth by adsorbing onto specific facets of platinum nanoparticles. Therefore, in this study, $AgNO_3$ was added to control the shape of platinum nanoparticles during the liquid phase reduction process. Consequently, platinum cubes were synthesized when $AgNO_3$ of 1.1 mol% (with respect to the Pt concentration) was added into the solution. Platinum octahedrons were synthesized when 32 mol% (with respect to the Pt concentration) was added into the solution. These results demonstrate that the metal salt $AgNO_3$, effectively controlled the relative growth rates of each facet of Pt nano particles.
The optimum route to fabricate nano-sized Fe-50 wt% Co and hydrogen-reduction behavior of calcined Fe-/Conitrate was investigated. The powder mixture of metal oxides was prepared by solution mixing and calcination of Fe-/Co-nitrate. A DTA-TG and microstructural analysis revealed that the nitrates mixture by the calcination at $300^{\circ}C$ for 2 h was changed to Fe-oxide/$Co_3O_4$ composite powders with an average particle size of 100 nm. The reduction behavior of the calcined powders was analyzed by DTA-TG in a hydrogen atmosphere. The composite powders of Fe-oxide and Co3O4 changed to a Fe-Co phase with an average particle size of 40 nm in the temperature range of $260-420^{\circ}C$. In the TG analysis, a two-step reduction process relating to the presence of Fe3O4 and a CoO phase as the intermediate phase was observed. The hydrogen-reduction kinetics of the Fe-oxide/Co3O4 composite powders was evaluated by the amount of peak shift with heating rates in TG. The activation energies for the reduction, estimated by the slope of the Kissinger plot, were 96 kJ/mol in the peak temperature range of $231-297^{\circ}C$ and 83 kJ/mol of $290-390^{\circ}C$, respectively. The reported activation energy of 70.4-94.4 kJ/mol for the reduction of Fe- and Co-oxides is in reasonable agreement with the measured value in this study.

With the proliferation of nonlinear loads such as commercial facilities in all of modern society high neutral harmonic currents have been observed. High neutral currents in three-phase four-wire distribution systems can cause lots of harmonic problems. The most common solution of neutral harmonic currents reduction is a zero phase sequence filter using zig-zag transformer. This paper analyzes a commercially available neutral line zero sequence currents reduction device and applies the equipment to commercial office loads for eliminating harmonics. Experimental results m compared numerically and graphically with simulation results through the use of MATLAB.

The effects of Sn addition and solution treatment on corrosion behavior were studied in AZ91 magnesium casting alloy. The addition of 5%Sn contributed to the introduction of $Mg_2Sn$ phase, to the reduction in dendritic cell size and to the increase in the amount of secondary phases. After the solution treatment, trace amount of $Al_8Mn_5$ particles were observed in the ${\alpha}$-(Mg) matrix for the AZ91 alloy, while $Mg_2Sn$ phase with high thermal stability was additionally found in the AZ91-5%Sn alloy. Before the solution treatment, the AZ91-5%Sn alloy had better corrosion resistance than the Sn-free alloy, which is caused by the enhanced barrier effect of the (${\beta}+Mg_2Sn$) phases formed more continuously along the dendritic cell boundaries. It is interesting to note that after the solution treatment, the corrosion rate of both alloys became increased, but the Sn-added alloy showed higher corrosion rate than the Sn-free alloy. The microstructural examination on the corroded surfaces revealed that the remaining $Mg_2Sn$ particles in the solution-treated AZ91-5%Sn alloy play a role in accelerating corrosion by galvanic coupling with the ${\alpha}$-(Mg) matrix.
In the present study, the focus is on the synthesis of titanium carbide/cobalt composite powder by the spray thermal conversion process using metallic salt solution as the raw materials. Two types of oxide powders of Ti-Co-O system were prepared by the spray drying of two types of metallic salt solutions : titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate and $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate solutions. These oxide powders were mixed with carbon black, and then these mixtures were carbothermal reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixtures during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TG-DTA. In the case of using the titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate solution, it could not be obtained TiC/Co composite powder due to contamination of the impurities during the spray drying of the solution. However, in tile case of using the $TiO_2$ powder-cobalt nitrate scullion, TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder could be synthesized by the spray thermal conversion process. The synthesized TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder at 120$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours has average particle size of 150 nm.

Platinum plays an important role in many applications because of its extraordinary physical and chemical properties. All these applications require the use of platinum in the finely divided state. Therefore the preparation of platinum nanoparticles by reducing platinum-surfactant salt with reducing agent in the solution was investigated in this study. The net interaction between C14TABr and $H_2[PtCl_6]$ in aqueous solution results in the formation of $[C14TA]_2[PtCl_6]$. The concentration of C14TABr and the concentration of $H_2[PtCl_6]$ has to be above cmc and 0.32 mM, respectively in order to obtain complex-micelle aggregation for mono dispersed Pt particles. Pt particle size increases with increasing $H_2[PtCl_6]$ and C14TABr concentration. And the shape of Pt particles was well controlled with increasing surfactant concentration.

Urea-SCR system is the selective catalytic reduction to reduce nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) emitted from diesel vehicles. The objective of this study is numerical analysis of 3-dimensional unsteady melting problems of frozen urea by using an electric heater. It can be applied to determine capacity of power with respect to time and the location of the urea suction pipe in urea storage tank. The study includes the change of liquid volume fraction, temperature profiles and a influence of natural convection by using the commercial software STAR-CCM+(v7.06). The accuracy of the numerical analysis is estimated by comparisons with experimental data. After validation, a numerical analysis for freezing urea is conducted with four different heating power. From the results, it was found that relation of velocity of phase interface and amount of melting urea by increasing heating power in a container. There is also a difference in trend between velocity of phase interface and amounts of melting urea because of effect of natural convection.
Urea-SCR system, the selective catalytic reduction using urea as reducing agent, is a powerful technique to reduce nitrogen oxides(NOx) emitted from diesel engines. However, a tank of urea(32.5 wt%)-water solution can be frozen in low ambient temperature levels of below $-11^{\circ}C$. The purpose of this study is to understand freezing and melting phenomena of the urea-water solution, and its can be applied to get the urea-water solution from frozen it within 5 minutes after cold start. Factors considered were the type of heater and the urea tank shape. From the results, it was found that melting volume of cartridge heater B during 5 minutes of heating period was 83ml when supplying electric power of 150W. Horizontal heater B, which was put in the narrow bottom space of the tank T1, had fast melting characteristics.
