  • The fabrication method of plasmonic nanodots on silicon substrate has been developed to improve the efficiency of thin film solar cells. Nanoscale metallic nanodots arrays are fabricated by anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template mask which can have different structural parameters by varying anodization conditions. In this paper, the structural parameters of gold nanodots, which can be controlled by the diverse structures of AAO template mask, are investigated to enhance the optical properties of a-Si thin film solar cells. It is found that optical properties of the thin film solar cells are improved by finding optimization values of the structural parameters of the gold nanodot array.

  • Particularly the photovoltaic systems are preferred because the output is extracted to the useful electric energy. However, the output characteristics of photovoltaic(PV) systems using solar cell or array depend on the weather conditions. The assistant equipment which emulates the solar cell characteristics that can be controlled arbitrarily by researcher is required to the researchers for reliable experimental data. To solve these problems, it is necessary to research a solar cell model of which output characteristics varied by setting the weather conditions such as insolation levels and temperatures. Therefore, this paper was presented that improved model which is based on interpolation model. To verified the improved model, it is confirmed using the simulation of MATLAB. Also, the experiment was performed by the characteristics of virtual implemented solar cell(VISC) system with the proposed solar cell model. It could be confirmed that there exists actual ewer within 5% between actual solar cell and VISC system.

  • In this paper, we analyze the I-V curve and hot-spot phenomenon caused by solar cells' serial and parallel connected circuit. The mis-match loss of parallel interconnection with low Isc string decrease lower than serially interconnected one and temperature caused by hot-spot does. Also, mis-match loss of parallel interconnection with low Voc string increase more than serially interconnected one. The string having low Voc happened hot-spot phenomenon when open circuit. The bad solar cell in string gives revere bias to good solar cell and make hot-spot phenomenon. If we consider the mis-match loss, when designing PV module and array. the efficiency of PV system might increase.

  • Many solar cell way need to be connected by series or parallel to extract the high power Especially, during parallel operation to reduce circulation current the individual converter has to share and control the load current. Generally, Current Sharing(CS) can be implemented using droop and active current sharing method. In this paper, one 3[KW] PWM converter was replaced as one 3[KW] solar cell array(3 parallels, each parallel has twenty single modules), two 3[KW] solar cell way Is Paralleled to generate 6[KW] power. Also each converter used voltage-current controller and Automatic MSCPM(Master-Slave Current-programming Method) for current sharing(AS).

  • In response to the industrial needs for automated handling of very thin solar cell wafers, this paper presents the design concept for the individual wafer separation from the stacked wafers by utilizing continuous water jet. The experimental apparatus for automated wafer separation was constructed and it includes the water jet system and the microprocessor controlled wafer stack advancing system. Through a series of tests, the performance of the proposed design is quantified into the success rate of single wafer separation and the rapidity of processing wafer stack. Also, the inclination angle of wafer equipped cartridge and the water jet flowrate are found to be important parameters to be considered for process optimization. The proposed design shows the concept for fast and efficient processing of wafer separation and can be implemented in the automated manufacturing of silicon based solar cell wafers.

  • In the past decades, green energy, such as solar energy, wind power, hydropower, biomass energy, geothermal energy, and so on, has been widely investigated and developed to solve energy shortage. Recently, organic solar cells have attracted much attention, because they have many advantages, including low-cost, flexibility, light weight, and easy fabrication [1-3]. Organic solar cells are as a potential candidate of the next generation solar cells. In this abstract, to improve the power conversion efficiency and the stability, the inverted polymer solar cells with various structures were developed [4-6]. The novel cell structures included the P3HT:PCBM inverted polymer solar cells with AZO nanorods array, with pentacene-doped active layer, and with extra P3HT interfacial layer and PCBM interfacial layer. These three difference structures could respectively improve the performance of the P3HT:PCBM inverted polymer solar cells. For the inverted polymer solar cells with AZO nanorods array as the electronic transportation layer, by using the nanorod structure, the improvement of carrier collection and carrier extraction capabilities could be expected due to an increase in contact area between the nanorod array and the active layer. For the inverted polymer solar cells with pentacene-doped active layer, the hole-electron mobility in the active layer could be balanced by doping pentacene contents. The active layer with the balanced hole-electron mobility could reduce the carrier recombination in the active layers to enhance the photocurrent of the resulting inverted polymer solar cells. For the inverted polymer solar cells with extra P3HT and PCBM interfacial layers, the extra PCBM and P3HT interfacial layers could respectively improve the electron transport and hole transport. The extra PCBM interfacial layer served another function was that led more P3HT moving to the top side of the absorption layer, which reduced the non-continuous pathways of P3HT. It indicated that the recombination centers could be further reduced in the absorption layer. The extra P3HT interfacial layer could let the hole be more easily transported to the MoO3 hole transport layer. The high performance of the novel P3HT:PCBM inverted polymer solar cells with various structures were obtained.

  • The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMTDC, an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus, is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. This paper is aimed at sharing with the PSCAD/EMTDC user community our user-defined model for PV system applications, which is not yet available as a standard model within PSCAD/EMTDC. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling have been estimated from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) and its current control scheme have been implemented. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is employed for drawing the maximum available energy from the PV array. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to examine PV array behaviors and PV system control performance in response to irradiation changes. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed.

  • The photoanode electrode of $TiO_2$ nanotubes (NTs) anchored with ZnS/CdSSe/CdS quantum dots (QDs) was prepared by anodization of Ti metal and successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) procedure. The tuning of the band gap of CdSSe was done with controlled composition of Cd, S, or Se during the SILAR. A ladder-like energy structure suitable for carrier transfer was attained with the photoanode electrode. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of our solar cell fabricated with the regular array of $TiO_2$ NTs anchored with CdSSe/CdS or CdSe/CdS QDs [i.e., (CdSSe/CdS/$TiO_2NTs$) or (CdSe/CdS/$TiO_2NTs$)] was PCE = 3.49% and 2.81% under the illumination at 100 mW/$cm^2$, respectively. To protect the photocorrosion of our solar cell from the electrolyte and to suppress carrier recombination, ZnS was introduced onto CdSSe/CdS. The PCE of our solar cell with the structure of a photoanode electrode, (ZnS/CdSSe/CdS/$TiO_2$ NTs/Ti) was 4.67% under illumination at 100 mW/$cm^2$.

  • The solar cell has an optimum operating point to be able to got maximum power. To obtain maximum power from Photovoltaic array, hotovoltaic power system usually requres maximum power point c tracking controller. The output characteristics of solar cell are nonlinear, and these characteristics vary with load solar insolation, solar cell temperature. Therefore the tracking control of maximum power point is the com-plicated problem. This paper presents power characteristics of residential Photovoltaic system applying a buck-boost conversion system.
