  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate menstrual symptoms and patterns of high school girls by Sasang constitution and relationship between such symptoms and Sasang constitution. Methods : For the study, QSCCII and 'M.B.Q' employed to analyze the data collected from 581 high school girls in Pusan from July 11 to July 20, 2006. Results : As for menstrual characteristics of the subjects by Sasang constitution Taeeumins start menarche is relatively early in contrast with Soeumins who experienced menarche relatively late(P=.012). This survey proves that menses last relatively long for Soeumin whereas Soyangins have relatively short period of menstruation(P=.043). Furthermore, Taeeumins account for majority of those who have much quantity of menstruation with 22.7% while Soeumins account for majority with 13.2%. From the analysis into menstrual symptoms of the subjects put under 5 categories of Sasang constitution, it became evident that Soeumins turned out to have most negative affect(11.8${\pm}$3.78) (P=.053). Soeumins scored the highest points in the response area of autonomic reactions(10.6${\pm}$3.24)(P=.014). In the total points of menstrual symptoms including the above 5 sub-categories, Soeumins recorded the highest scores(52.4${\pm}$12.5), followed by Soyangins(50.0${\pm}$12.2) and Taeeumins in order, showing that there is no statistically significant difference(F = 2.859, p = .058) among them although Soeumins seem to feel slightly more menstrual symptoms than Soyangins and Taeeumins. Conclusion : We hope these results could be helpful to diagnosis and treatment of mestrual diseases.

So, After studying the meaning of Sung-Jung' concept of Sasang Constitutional Medicine, I made a comparative study through the structure, function, development of Brain. The conclusions were as follows. 1. Human's brain acts a rational, control his actions. and It manage human body's physiology and pathology. and It perceive his surroundings, express his emotion through comprehension, synthesis, judgement about information from various fields. and It's abnormality bring about a spiritual, bodily injury. Therefore, human's brain have many correlation with Sung-Jung' concept of Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Neocortex' function have many correlation with Sung' concept of Hearing-Sight-Smell-Taste (聽視嗅味=sensation=a highly mental capacity) through Ear-Eye-Nose-Mouse(耳目鼻?). 3. Limbic-system'function have many correlation with Jung' concept of Sorrow-Anger-Pleasure-Joy(哀怒喜榮=emotion) through Lung-Spleen-Liver-Kidney(肺脾肝腎) 4. Brain-stem' function have many correlation with vitalistic concept through Qui of Sorrow - Anger - Pleasure - Joy(哀怒喜樂之氣)' rise and fall. 5. Relation of emotions and diseases through Limbic system and Autonomic nervous system have many correlation with relation of Sung-Jung and diseases of Sasang Constitutional Medicine 6. Left-hemisphere' function that has superior power of verbal, analysis, logicality, consideration have many correlation with tendency of Soeumin and Taeumin. and Right-hemisphere' function that has superior power of emotion, non-verbal, imagination, spatial perception have many correlation with tendency of Soyangin and Taeyangin.

  • This study is a discriptive research to identify stress and powerlessness based on Korean hemodialysis patients' constitution. Research subject was 112 hemodialysis patients who are treatment processing in P university hospital and K hemodialysis hospital in S City, and the data were collected for 60 days from December 20, 1999 to January 30, 2000. The research tools used for the measurement of constitution was "QSCC II", the measurement of the stress was Jeon chi ja's "Scale of Hemodialysis patient's Stress"(1985), and the measurement of powerlessness was Kim joe ja's "Scale of Powerlessness"(1992). The reliability of the scale for stress is Cronbach's Alpha 0.8819 and that of powerlessness is Cronbach's Alpha 0.6993. Data analysis was performed using SPSSWin 9.0 software. We tested them with real number, percentage, average score, standard deviation, t-test, F-test(ANOVA), Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple stepwise regression. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Hemodialysis patients' constitution were : Soyangin 38.4%, Taemin 34.8%, and Soeumin 26.8%. 2. The average score of the stress by hemodialysis patients were the mean $89.72{\pm}20.26$ points. The average score of powerlessness was the mean $34.19{\pm}6.46$ points, by hemodialysis patients. 3. The result of the Pearson Correlation showed no correlation between the score of stress and the score of powerlessness. 4. In their relationship between general characteristics and the score of stress : in marriage state, job(P=0.016, P=0.007) and In their relationship between general characteristics and the score of powerlessness : in age, marriage state, educational level, job(P=0.000, P=0.012, P=0.002, P=0.050) have statistically meaningful differences. 5. The factor affecting the powerlessness of hemodialysis patients was physical area of stress and its explanatory power was 18.5%.
