폐유리의 가수분해 반응에 의한 발포유리의 제조(II) - 가수분해된 유리의 발포 - (Production of Foamed Glass by Using Hydrolysis of Waste Glass (II) - Foaming Process of Hydrated Glass -)

  • 소다석회유리 조성의 폐 유리를 발포유리의 원료로 활용하기 위하여 가수분해에 의해 수화된 폐유리를 발포시켜 발포유리의 제조를 시도하였다. 소다석회 유리 조성의 수화된 폐유리들은 판유리, 병유리 또는 그 색깔에 관계없이 발포조제로서 흑연의 량은 수화된 폐유리의 중량에 대한 중량비로 0.003, 소성온도 $925^{\circ}C$, 소성발포시간 10~20 min, 원료유리의 입도는 수화되기전의 유리의 입도로서 -325 mesh가 최적의 발포유리제조의 조건이었다. 상기의 조건하에 혼합된 폐유리의 수화유리를 발포시킨 결과 밀도 $0.2g/cm^3$이고 열전도도는 $0.05kcal/mh^{\circ}C$이 발포유리를 제조하였다.

SEM-EDS를 이용한 경남 김해 양동리 출토 유리구슬의 분석 고찰 (SEM-EDS Microanalysis of Glass Beads Excavated from Yangdong-ri Remains, Kimhae)

  • 고대 유리제품에 대한 과학적 분석 조사는 다양한 정보를 제공한다. 이 중에서 조성 분석을 통하여 사용 원료, 제작 방법, 시대, 그리고 지역으로 그룹화하여 문화 수준과 유입 경로등을 이해하는 자료로 활용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 유리나 도자기의 유약 등으로 이루어진 문화재 시료에 대한 SEM-EDS의 정량분석 조건들을 설정하였고, 경남 김해 양동리에서 출토된 유리 구슬 조각 62점을 정량분석하였다. 분석 결과, 이 지역의 유리구슬은 알칼리계 유리로써 칼리계 유리는 AD 1세기, 소다계 유리는 AD 2세기 말~3세기 초부터 나타난 것으로 추정되었다. 유리의 색상은 전이금속 구리, 철, 그리고 망간의 함유량과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 보인다. 이 분석결과는 고대 유리구슬의 성분 함유량이 원료, 색상, 유구편년, 그리고 지역에 따라 그룹이 형성될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

SOFC용 유리-세라믹섬유 복합기밀재의 고온 기체누설 거동 (High Temperature Gas Leak Behavior of Glass-Ceramic Fiber Composite Seals for SOFC Applications)

  • Glass composites containing ceramic fiber have been developed for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) seals. Effect of glass type, loading pressure and thermal cycle the leak rates of composite seals was investigated. Seal performance of two commercial glasses was compared with that of $SiO_2BaO-B_2O_3$ glass synthesized in this work. The leak rate for seals made of pyrex(R) increases from $\~0.0005\;to\;\~0.004sccm/cm$ as the gas pressure increases from 10 to 50 kPa. The soda lime silicate glass seal shows the leak rate two times higher than the one made of pyrex(R) or $SiO_2BaO-B_2O_3$ glass. The viscosity of glass at the seal test temperature is presumed to affect the leak rate of the glass seal. As the applied loading pressure increases from 0.4 to 0.8 MPa at $750^{\circ}C$, the leak rate decreases from 0.038 to 0.024 sccm/cm for composite seals. It has been found that during 50 thermal cycles between $450^{\circ}C\;to\;700^{\circ}C$ leak rates remained almost constant, ranging from 0.025 to 0.03sccm/cm. The results showed an excellent thermal cycle stability as well as sealability of the glass matrix ceramic fiber composite seals.

  • High Xe-content PDP characteristics are discussed. A high efficacy, up to 5 lm/W for a 50% Xe in Ne gas mixture, is realized in 4-inch color PDP test panel designs with low cost stripe-type barrier rib structures, that are powder blasted in soda lime glass. Furthermore, for a high Xe-content a high luminance can be obtained with a relatively small electrode area. Therefore the inter cell gap and the driving margin can be increased in a stripe-type barrier rib structure. Finally, for a high Xe-content the panel lifetime increases, due to increasing luminance and firing voltage stability. Clearly, these findings may direct the design development for next generation PDPs towards a high Xe-content

열충격하에 있는 균열체의 파괴시간 (Fracture time of cracked body under thermal shock)

  • In the research on the fracture time of soda lime silicate glass under thermal shock, it is shown that the theoretical and experimental fracture times are in good agreement, the suggested method to measure critical stress intensity factor for small three-point bending specimen is useful and the edge temperature before thermal shock on cracked side vs. crack length and fracture time are inversely proportional.

  • Optical waveguide was fabricated in the soda lime glass substrate using rapid thermal method. A chirped grating having period variation of 0.41 - 0.51${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ on this waveguide for WDM was made. And then, arranging input and output optical fiber, wavelength division multiplexer with 5 channels in short wavelength region was realized. Experiment result of this WDM showed that wavelength spacing, 3 dB bandwidth, insertion loss and crosstalk were 5nm, 4nm, 40dB and less than -10dB, respectively.

  • Propagation of a mixed-mode crack in Soda-Lime silica glass using Movable Cellular Automata (MCA) method is demonstrated in this study. In MCA method, special fracture criterion is used to describe the process of crack initiation and propagation. Comparison between MCA and other crack initiation criteria results are made. The crack resistance curves and bifurcation angles under different loading angles are found. In comparisons with results of maximum circumferential tensile stress criterion, MCA result showed the sufficient agreement.

유리표면에 진공증착된 금박막의 전기전도도의 습도 의존성 (Humidity Dependence of Electrical Conductivity of Vacuum Evaporated Au Films on Glass)

  • The vacuum evaporated Au films on soda-lime glasses were measured by the electrical conductivity with the variation of the annealing time, relative humidity, and temperature. Au films structures were observed by scanning Electron Microscope and X-ray Diffractometer. As the annealing time and temperature increased, the electrical conductivity was increased due to the migration or annihilation of defects, but the electrical conductivity was decreased as with the relative humidity increased. Au films by XRD and SEM examination showed the negligible effect of chemical reactions.

  • Photosynthesis of plants is effective in the range of 550 to 700 nm of the wavelength of solar irradiation. If the conversion of ultraviolet to the above mentioned region is possible, the photosynthesizing ability is expected to be enhanced. $Eu^{3+}$ doped soda-lime bulk and $TiO_2-SiO_2$ sol-gel coated glasses were prepared and their spectroscopic properties were studied. The absorption and emission spectra for the specimens were measured with the changes of wavelength and Eu ion concentration in the range of the wavelength of 300 to 700nm. The transmittance intensity of visible light through the bulk glass and the coated one was unchanged with the addition of Eu element. The emission spectrum intensity of $Eu^{3+}$ was found to be the maximum at 618 nm which is a transition of $^5DO{\rightarrow}^7F_2$. Additionally, it was shown that the intensity was linearly increased up to 10% of the Eu concentration.

저온실링용 ZnO-V2O5-P2O5계 봉착재의 물성에 미치는 TiO2 의 영향 (Effect of TiO2 on the Properties of ZnO-V2O5-P2O5 Low Temperature Sealing Glasses)

  • We designed new compositions for lead free and low temperature sealing glass frit of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system, which can be used for PDP (Plasma Display Panel) or other electronic devices. The $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system can be used as a sealing material at temperatures even lower than 430$^{\circ}C$. This system, however, showed lower bonding strength with glass substrate compared to commercialized Pb based sealing materials. So, we added $TiO_2$ as a promoter for bonding strength. We examined the effect of $TiO_2$ addition on sealing behaviors of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ glasses with the data for flow button, wetting angle, temporary & permanent residual stress of glass substrate, EPMA analysis of interface between sealing materials and glass substrate, and bonding strength. As a result, sealing characteristics of $ZnO-V_2O_5-P_2O_5$ system glasses were improved with $TiO_2$ addition, but showed a maximum value at 5 mol% $TiO_2$ addition. The reason for improved bonding characteristics was considered to be the chemical interaction between glass substrate and sealing glass, and structural densification of sealing glass itself.
