A Structural Analysis of School-Aged Children's Peer Relationship and Its Related Variables (학령기 아동의 또래관계 관련변인들 간의 관계 구조분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among the related variables of peer relationship. 547 schoolage children's social support, self-esteem, empathy and peer relationship. Subjects of this study were 547 elementary school students residing in Daegu-Si completed questionnaires assessing peer relationship, social support, self-esteem, empathy. The sample variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using AMOS 20.0, and the maximum likelihood minimization function. The goodness of fit was evaluated using the SRMR, RMSEA and its 90% confidence interval, CFI, and TLI. The results were as follow. First, children's social support was found to hadn't direct effect on peer relationship. Second, children's self-esteem, empathy have a direct effect on peer relationship. Third, children's social support have a direct effect on self-esteem, empathy. and children's self-esteem have a direct effect on empathy.

The Mediational Role of Korean Mother's Parenting Self-Efficacy - The Effects of Parenting Related Variables on Child Self-Esteem - (어머니 양육효능감의 매개적 역할 - 양육행동에 따라 아동의 자존감에 영향을 미치는 양육의 제 변인들에 대한 모형 탐색 -)

  • This study investigated the relations between mother's parenting self-efficacy, perceived social support, parenting behavior, and stress, and child's temperament, and child' self-esteem, including a mediational role of Korean mother's parenting self-efficacy. The participants were 404 Korean child-mother dyads living in Seoul, Korea. Structural equation modeling indicated that mother's parenting self-efficacy was a significant mediator of the relation between mother's perceived social support and child's temperament and mother's parenting behaviors including Warmth-Acceptance, Rejection-Restriction, and Permissiveness-Nonintervention. In the Warmth-Acceptance model, mother's parenting self-efficacy was related to child self-esteem through Warmth-Acceptance. In the Rejection-Restriction model, mother's parenting self-efficacy was related to child self-esteem both directly and through Rejection-Restriction. Child's temperament was also related to Rejection-Restriction directly. In the Permissiveness-Nonintervention model, mother's parenting self-efficacy was related to child self-esteem directly, not through Permissiveness-Nonintervention. Child's temperament, also, was related to Permissiveness-Nonintervention directly.

The Effects of Family Conflict, Social Support and Self-Esteem on Life Satisfaction of the Aged (가족갈등, 사회적지지 및 자아존중감이 노인의 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to examine the effect of family conflict, social support, and self-esteem on alife satisfaction of the aged. For the study, the subjects(n=296) obtained from the Korea Welfare Panel Survey were analyzed by utilizing the correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The results founded from data analysis are as follows: First, while family conflict influenced negatively life satisfaction of the aged, social support and self-esteem had a positive effect on it. Second, self-esteem was shown to have the highest effect among other independent variables on life satisfaction of the aged. The results showed that family conflict, social support and self-esteem were the important factors which played the significant role in the change of life satisfaction of the aged. On the basis of the findings, the need and policy support to enhance social support/self-esteem and to weaken family conflict were suggested.

Influence of Social Exclusion on Conspicuous Consumption: Moderating Effect of Attribution and Self-Esteem (사회적 배제가 과시소비에 미치는 영향: 내적귀인과 자존감의 조절역할)

  • Purpose - This research aims to investigate the influence of social exclusion on conspicuous consumption. Specifically this research suggested that the influence of social exclusion on conspicuous consumption would be different depending on consumers' psychological characteristics such as internal attribution tendency and self-esteem. Design/methodology/approach - The experiment was conducted to verify hypotheses. 110 sample data were collected from the experiment and SPSS PROCESS Macro was used for data analysis. Findings - The result revealed that the interaction effect of social exclusion and internal attribution was significant. Specifically, social exclusion had on positive impact on conspicuous consumption for consumers with high level of internal attribution tendency. In addition, conspicuous consumption was pronounced for consumers having both high level of internal attribution and low level of self-esteem. Research implications or Originality - The result is expected to expand the research scope on social exclusion and conspicuous consumption, and provide practical implications for marketers.

A study on the health promoting behavior, self-esteem and social support of college students (일부 전문대생의 건강증진행위와 자아존중감, 사회적 지지에 관한 연구 (건강관련학과와 비건강관련학과의 비교를 중심으로))

  • The study was conducted to investigate the health promoting behavior, self-esteem and social support of college students. The subjects were 170 college students(health related department and non health related department) of college in K, C, U city. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics(9 items), health promoting behavior(47 items), self-esteem(10 items), social support(25 items). Analysis of data was done by use of mean, percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression with SAS program. The results of this study are as follows ; 1. Health promoting behavior were showed significant difference in two groups. 2. Health promoting behavior of two groups according to general characteristics were showed significnant difference in religon, personality, exercise, health food choice of A group and perceived health status, personality, exercise, health food choice of B group. 3. Significant correlation between exercise and health promoting behavior, self-esteem and social support, social support and health promting behavior in A group and between perceived health status and exercise, perceived health status and social support, perceived health status and health promoting behavior, self-steem and social support, exercise and health promoting behavior, self-esteem and health promoting behavior, social support and health promoting behavior in B group was found. 4. Significant correlations were found between most of the subscales of total health promoting behavior. 5. Predicting factor of health promoting behavior were social support and exercise in A group(51.74%) and social support, exercise and self-esteem in B group(41.18%).

Relationships among Self-esteem, Social Support, Nursing Organizational Culture, Experience of Workplace Bullying, and Consequence of Workplace Bullying in Hospital Nurses (병원간호사의 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 간호조직문화, 직장 내 괴롭힘 행위와 직장 내 괴롭힘 결과의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify relationships among self-esteem, social support, nursing organizational culture, experience of workplace bullying, and the consequences of workplace bullying in hospital nurses, and then to provide basic information for developing workplace bullying prevention programs. Methods: Participants were 122 hospital nurses from three general hospitals. Data collection was done during April and May 2015. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires which were used to identify participants' characteristics, self-esteem, social support, nursing organizational culture, and workplace bullying. Results: Approximately one quarter of the nurses had experienced workplace bullying in the past six months. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that experience of workplace bullying (${\beta}=.45$) and self-esteem (${\beta}=-.31$) explained 53.3% of the variance in consequences of workplace bullying. Conclusion: Based on the findings that experiencing workplace bullying and having a low self-esteem were likely to increase workplace bullying in hospital nurses, there is a need to develop prevention and intervention programs on avoiding or dealing with workplace bullying.

Mediating Effects of Self-esteem and Ego-resiliency on the Relationship between Social Stigma and Depression in Out-of-school Adolescents (학교 밖 청소년들의 사회적 낙인감과 우울의 관계에서 자아존중감과 자아탄력성의 매개효과)

  • Purpose: The study was done to identify the mediating effect of self-esteem and ego-resiliency on the relationship between social stigma and depression in out-of-school adolescents. Methods: The participants were 318 out-of-school adolescents, with data taken from the 5th out-of-school youth panel survey (2017). The data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple linear regression with the IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 program. In addition, bootstrapping was used to verify the mediating effects. Results: Stigma was positively correlated with depression and self-esteem and ego-resiliency were negatively correlated with depression respectively. Also, self-esteem and ego-resiliency had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between social stigma and depression. Conclusion: The findings indicate that self-esteem and ego-resiliency are important factors related to depression in out-of-school adolescents. It is also expected that self-esteem and ego-resiliency can further decrease depression in out-of-school adolescents.

The Mediating Effects of Self-Control and Impulsiveness On Self-Esteem and Smart Phone Addition In College Students

  • This study aimed to analyse the effects of self-control and impulsiveness of college students on smart phone addition and whether self-esteem has mediating effects on them. For the purposes, this study interviewed 4-year college students in Gwangju City with the use of a questionnaire and 314 copies of the responses were used for a final analysis. The data collected was analysed with the use of SPSS 22.0 and the results are presented as follows: First, behavior impulsiveness has a positive effect on self-esteem and smart phone addiction. Second, self-esteem had a positive effect on smart phone addiction. Third, it was discovered that behavior impulsiveness had a positive effect on smart phone addiction through an analysis of mediating effects while self-esteem had an indirect effect on it. Therefore, it was suggested that more care should be paid on smart phone addiction and development of programs against it should be facilitated.

Factors Influencing the Empoyment Volition of the Female Marriage Immigrants (결혼이주여성의 취업의지에 관한 영향요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the female marriage immigrants' social unification through their employment. The subjects of this study were 116 female marriage immigrants who lived in Kyungi-do. This study analyzed employment desire, barrier and volition differences of female marriage immigrants between their socio-demographic factors and effects of their employment desire and barrier to employment volition. Results of this study; First, desire of maintenance of livehood and self esteem to employment incresed with age. Second, there were differences in desire of maintenance of livehood and self esteem to employment between their countries of origins. Third, employment volition and self esteem to employment increased with level of education. Fourth, there were differences in employment volition and self esteem to employment between the length of residence in Korea. Fifth, employment desire and self esteem to employment increased with ability to Korean, but internal barrier of employment decreased by ability to Korean. Sixth, desire of identity from employment and self esteem to employment increased with the number of children. Seventh, employment desire influenced employment volition, self efficacy and self esteem to employment.

The Effects of Social Bonding on Self-Competence of Juvenile Inmates: Focused on Mediating Effect of Self-Esteem (소년원보호소년의 사회적 유대가 자기유능감에 미치는 영향: 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of social bonding on self-competence in the juvenile delinquency on the mediating effect of self-esteem. The data of 908 juvenile inmates in a Study on Measures to Develop Entrepreneurship Education Model and to Encourage Start-up for Youth(2015) by the National Youth Policy Institute were analysed. The results of the study are: (1) social bonding was found a key factor affecting the self-competence, (2) their social bonding affects self-esteem, (3) self-esteem affects self-competence, (4) self-esteem was proved to have a mediating effect between the effects of social bonding and self-competence. The implications and limitations are reviewed, as are the suggestions for future research.
