  • Dramatic increase of population migrating from suburban area to metropolitan area which started in 1990s resulted in the increase of aging population among this area. Centralized population also causes decreased number of students in suburban areas which in turn affects environmental facilities such as school and brings social issue. Additionally, compared to the alternative analysis and data regarding internal spatial arrangement of high school, there are not enough data or information on external spatial arrangement and how to construct such space. Therefore, the main purpose of this thesis is to provide fundamental data which can be used as a reference in improving educational environment of suburban high school by analyzing and investigating various factors including location, accessibility, facility status, and external spatial arrangement based on arrangement type of 8 normal high schools located across Jeju Island where the trend of decreasing number of students is prominent. Following is the result of such investigation. Despite the fact that high schools from suburban areas in Jeju Island possess diversity based on local characteristic, construction of external space is rather inconsistent as the plans regarding external space is not organized. Therefore, there is a need for preparing external spaces appropriate for each school based on the number of students and the characteristic of gymnasium.

  • The reactivation for Art & Culture Content Space in Gangwon province need new turning point according to new approach with internal and external change. That should be established in sustainable possibility model with preexisted natural advantage instead of economical depression and global warming of in these days. That is not a choice to get a successful construction of art & culture content space in Gangwon province. Throughout of reactivation of art & culture content space in Gangwon province, this proposal should go on with diversity of culture and concrete art & culture educational program absolutely to get a goal in regional economical success and social good influence. Already Yeongwol region had lots of art & cultural spaces and developmental strategy compared with other regions in decade. In these points, I choose this region and would like to research Yeongwol region in limit. Thus I would examine and study about art & culture content space in Yeongwol region. And I will concretely suggest that this proposal is composed with economical creating employment and incoming. The reactivation for Art &Culture Content Space in Yeongwol will build up social and cultural influences to this region to get a new modern cultural images and improvement of common life of regional people by and large. In the way of the process to globalization, this reactivation project for Art &Culture Content Space in Yeongwol should go on the base of regional culture background as a mean of glocalization paradigm strategically. Ahead of developing model for globalization in macroscopic view point, we have to research the demend of reginal situation of cultural content and build up its own strength points. Because Art & Culture Content Space in Yeongwol is the place of people in Yeongwol directly as itself. And managing plans of reactivation of art & culture content space in Yeongwol should build up with diversity of culture and environmental circumstances.

  • After 2004, as the community mixed-support facility in Japan was admitted as a private business of public facilities based on the Special Law for Urban Regeneration, the community mixed-support facilities in Japan are developed into various types with the view of the urban regeneration and urban renewal, more different point of view, and a tendency of establishment of the community facility has been considerably changed for the past twenty years. The reasons of the change are the social demand for the reformation of facility and the modification of subsidy constitution according to the establishment of equal facility. Some examples of that are the construction of lifelong education community and the change into a equivalent society between male and female and the adjusting to the aging and the welfare society and the social situation of more consumption recently, and in order to emerge from former building system, new facilities related to the contents are being expanded. The complex of the community mixed-support facility has an advantage in that it supplies the services for the complex of the community mixed-support facility, constitutes the communal character and the sense of solidarity among residents and can lead the development of region through the exchange of regional information. Through the Japanese community mixed-support facility which has many cases of it, this study would recognize the suggestion, the feature of it and examine the complex types.

  • A variety of traditional costumes have been developed in Asia due to different natural and cultural environments and they are still worn by people in many areas. Traditional costumes in Asia have been formed under the influence of various ideologies, as well as technology and social structure. Three Asian religions(Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam), which have undeniably strong influence on traditional Asian cultures, have great effects on the styles of traditional costume in each region of Asia. The purpose of this study is to compare the characteristics and aesthetic values of traditional Asian costumes. To do this, the author used images of traditional costumes, which were taken in person by the author, in each region of Asia as reference. Unlike the traditional costumes in the West, which expose the body shape, traditional Asian costumes have nonstructural features in construction, form and wearing rules. They are also decorated with religious symbols and other ornaments, which is different from functional and non-decorative modern clothes. Each traditional Asian costume has unique characteristics. The costume under the influence of Buddhism shows the beauty of concealment that features trans-spatiality and abundant silhouette. On the other hand, the Hindu costume shows the beauty of symbolization represented by very colorful and complex ornaments, while costume in the Islam regions shows the beauty of restraint with clothes that wrap up the body in accordance with its strict religious discipline. Asian religions also represent philosophy, culture as well as an ethnic group. They have influenced entire Asian cultures including the arts, aesthetics and social structure and decided the style of costumes.

  • In this study, interest in rural life of good natural environment rather than busy life is increasing as human life is extended by scientific and medical technology and society has improved. The reckless development of rural villages has caused social problems as the natural environment has been damaged, failing to function as a pleasant home. To address these problems, the government has implemented a rural village development project, but if the site is selected incorrectly, the residents may not be recruited, or applicants may lose their status, or the portion of the infrastructure building fee may increase. In order to prepare objective and clear assessment methods for the target site not to cause such problems, a layering analysis method (AHP: Analytic Method) was used to identify the current status of the rural village formation project, draw assessment items, and determine the importance of each item.

  • Recently the construction of high-rise reinforced concrete building is progressively increased as the social demands. It is significantly important factors such as economy, the safety of structure, and the flexibility of internal space. Therefore new structural system is also required to be attained the reduction of story height, the flexibility and efficient use of space. The most suitable structural system is with the economy and flexibility, flat plate slab system in high-rise reinforced concrete building. In this research, it was focused in the improvement of shear performance in the flat plate system using high ductile fiber reinforced mortar. It was evaluated the shear performance in the critical region of slab-column connection. The flat plate system, designed by the high performance and safety, was developed as a new technique in the application of high-rise R/C building.

  • Based on a long-term ethnographic study, this paper examines how the propositions and practices for desertification management in Inner Mongolia, China have changed over time. Desertification as an ecological issue cannot simply be treated as a something "natural" or "social," while it is an outcome of the construction made by both human and non-human agents. My research has found that the propositions for desertification management have been involved in the process of defining desertification, particularly by selecting different actors related to the ecological process in this region. Ultimately, the crisis in the inner Mongolia has always been constructed by the ways in which the selected actors and their relationships are differently defined. My study also reveals that although the proposed preventive measures, including afforestation, area protection, and pasturing prohibition, have tried to reconcile the conflicts of interest among the different actors, they have always been faced with certain limitations and failed in dryland management. In this historical context of crisis construction, by introducing a new non-human agent, "the chicken," the project of grassland chicken farming has eventually appeared to be an innovative strategy that can overcome the earlier limitations and coordinate the interests of Mongolian pastoralists who have suffered from economic difficulty.
