In this paper, we introduce the UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System which manages a user authentication for smart cities. Because the smart city management system should take care of huge number of users and services, and various kinds of resources and facilities, and they should be carefully controlled, we need a specially designed security management system. UTOPIA is a smart city system based on ICT(Information and Communication Technology), and it has a three tier structure of UTOPIA portal system, UTOPIA processing system and UTOPIA infrastructure system. The UTOPIA processing system uses the smart city middleware named SmartUM. The UTOPIA Smart City Security Management System is implemented in the application security layer, which is the top layer of the SmartUM middleware, and the infrastructure security layer, which is the lowest layer. The UTOPIA Smart City security management system is built on the premise that it supports all existing user authentication technologies. This paper introduces the application security layer and describes the authentication management in the application security layer.

In order to provide priorities of the factors affecting the introduction of Smart Factory, This study reconstructed the factors and calculated the priorities through AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). The first layer of the hierarchy have 4 factors; productivity increase, brand image improve, marketing improve, cost reduction. The second layer of the hierarchy have 3 factors belong to the first layer, so the total number of second layer is 12. We divided the characteristics of enterprises into type of manager and age. The C.R. (consistency ratio) values of the respondents were found to be less than 0.1 and were judged to be a 'reasonable test'. As a result, the weights of the higher layer and the lower layer were obtained respectively, and then the weights of the higher layer and the weights of the lower layer were multiplied to obtain the total weights. Unlike previous studies that only surveyed factors that companies consider when introducing smart factory, (1) weighing and prioritizing factors were achieved. There are differences in priorities, (2) smart factory can be studied with the type of manager and firm age. When establishing policies, it is a practical implication (3) to assess its strategy not only for government officials but also for executives.
With the rise of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and I-Korea 4.0, both of which pursue strategies for industrial innovation and for the solution to social problems, the real estate industry needs to change in order to make effective use of available space in smart environments. The implementation of smart spaces is a promising solution for this. The smart space is defined as a good use of space, whether it be a home, office, or retail store, within a smart environment. To enhance the use of smart spaces, efficient decision-making and well-timed and accurate interaction are required. This paper proposes a smart space based on platform which takes advantage of emerging technologies for the efficient storage, processing, analysis, and utilization of big data. The platform is composed of six layers - collection, transfer, storage, service, application, and management - and offers three service frameworks: activity-based, market-based, and policy-based. Based on these smart space services, decision-makers, consumers, clients, and social network participants can make better decisions, respond more quickly, exhibit greater innovation, and develop stronger competitive advantages.

Dynamic characteristics of smart laminated composite plates with passive constrained layer damping have been investigated to design structure with maximum possible damping capacity. The equations of motion are derived fur flexural vibrations of symmetrical, multi-layer laminated plates. The damping ratio and modal damping of the first bending and torsional modes are calculated by means of iterative complex eigensolution method. (omitted)
In this paper the authors address the problem of comparing two different smart damping techniques using the numerical modelling of the electro-mechanical impedance for plate structures partially treated with active constrained layer damping treatments. The paper summarizes the modelling procedures including a finite element formulation capable of accounting for the observed behaviour. The example used is a smart cantilever plate structure containing a viscoelastic material (VEM) layer sandwiched between a piezoelectric constrained layer and the host vibrating plate. Comparisons are made between active constrained layer and active damping only and based on the resonance frequency amplitudes of the electrical admittance numerically evaluated at the surface of the piezoelectric model of the vibrating structure.

This paper is the second part of the study on the development of a smart active layer (SAL) sensor, which consists of two parts. As mentioned in the first paper, structural health monitoring (SHM) is a new technology that is being increasingly applied at the industrial field as a potential approach to improve cost and convenience of structural inspection. Recently, the development of smart sensor is very active for real application. This study has focused on preparation and application study of SAL sensor which is described with regard to the theory and concept of the SAL sensor in the first paper. In order to detect elastic wave, smart piezoelectric sensor, SAL, is fabricated by using a piezoelectric element, shielding layer and protection layer. This protection layer plays an important role in a patched network of distributed piezoelectric sensor and shielding treatment. Four types of SAL sensor are designed/prepared/tested, and these details will be discussed in the paper In this study, SAL sensor ran be feasibly applied to perform structural health monitoring and to detect damage sources which result in elastic waves.

Compressed sensing is a novel technology used in the field of wireless communication and sensor networks for channel estimation, signal detection, data gathering, network monitoring, and other applications. It plays a significant role in highly secure, real-time, well organized, and cost-effective data communication in smart-grid (SG) systems, which consist of multi-tier network standards that make it challenging to synchronize in power management communication. In this paper, we present a multi-layer communication model for SG systems and propose compressed-sensing based data transmission at every layer of the SG system to improve data transmission performance. Our approach is to utilize the compressed-sensing procedure at every layer in a controlled manner. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed monitoring devices need less transmission power than conventional systems. Additionally, secure, reliable, and real-time data transmission is possible with the compressed-sensing technique.

As smart factory is the factory which produces the products according to the customer's diverse demand and the changing conditions in it, it can be characterized by flexible production, dynamic reconstruction, and optimized production environment. To implement these characteristics, many kind of configuration elements in the smart factory should be connected to and communicated with each other. So the network is responsible for playing this role in the smart factory. As SDN (Software Defined Network) is the technology that can dynamically cope with the explosive increasing data amount and the hourly changing network condition, it is one of network technologies that can be applied to the smart factory. In this paper, we address SDN function and operation, SDN model suitable for the smart factory, and then performs the simulation for measuring this model.
This paper deals with the effect of ply orientation and control gain on tip transverse displacement of functionally graded beam layer for both active constrained layer damping (ACLD) and passive constrained layer damping (PCLD) system. The functionally graded beam is taken as host beam with a bonded viscoelastic layer in ACLD beam system. Piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite (PFRC) laminate is a constraining layer which acts as actuator through the velocity feedback control system. A finite element model has been developed to study actuation of the smart beam system. Fractional order derivative constitutive model is used for the viscoelastic constitutive equation. The control voltage required for ACLD treatment for various symmetric ply stacking sequences is highest in case of longitudinal orientation of fibers of PFRC laminate over other ply stacking sequences. Performance of symmetric and anti-symmetric ply laminates on damping characteristics has been investigated for smart beam system using time and frequency response plots. Symmetric and anti-symmetric ply laminates significantly reduce the amplitude of the vibration over the longitudinal orientation of fibers of PFRC laminate. The analysis reveals that the PFRC laminate can be used effectively for developing very light weight smart structures.
Smart textile industries have been precipitously developed and extended to electronic textiles and wearable devices in recent years. In particular, owing to an increasingly aging society, the elderly healthcare field has been highlighted in the smart device industries, and pressure sensors can be utilized in various elderly healthcare products such as flooring, mattress, and vital-sign measuring devices. Furthermore, elderly healthcare products need to be more lightweight and flexible. To fulfill those needs, textile-based pressure sensors is considered to be an attractive solution. In this research, to apply a textile to the second layer using a pressure sensing device, a novel type of conductive textile was fabricated using vapor phase polymerization of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). Vapor phase polymerization is suitable for preparing the conductive textile because the reaction can be controlled simply under various conditions and does not need high-temperature processing. The morphology of the obtained PEDOT-conductive textile was observed through the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). Moreover, the resistance was measured using an ohmmeter and was confirmed to be adjustable to various resistance ranges depending on the concentration of the oxidant solution and polymerization conditions. A 3-layer 81-point multi-pressure sensor was fabricated using the PEDOT-conductive textile prepared herein. A 3D-viewer program was developed to evaluate the sensitivity and multi-pressure recognition of the textile-based multi-pressure sensor. Finally, we confirmed the possibility that PEDOT-conductive textiles could be utilized by pressure sensors.
