Stochastic Modeling of Plug-in Electric Vehicle Distribution in Power Systems

  • This paper proposes a stochastic modeling of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) distribution in power systems, and analyzes the corresponding clustering characteristic. It is essential for power utilities to estimate the PEV charging demand as the penetration level of PEV is expected to increase rapidly in the near future. Although the distribution of PEVs in power systems is the primary factor for estimating the PEV charging demand, the data currently available are statistics related to fuel-driven vehicles and to existing electric demands in power systems. In this paper, we calculate the number of households using electricity at individual ending buses of a power system based on the electric demands. Then, we estimate the number of PEVs per household using the probability density function of PEVs derived from the given statistics about fuel-driven vehicles. Finally, we present the clustering characteristic of the PEV distribution via case studies employing the test systems.

  • In this paper, the power system with electric vehicles is analyzed considering the mobility and diffusion rate of electric vehicles in the smart grid environment. In the previous studies, load modeling and load composition rates have been researched and the results are applied to develop a new load model to explain the mobility of electric vehicles which could affect on the power system status such as power flow and stability. The results would be utilized to research and develop power system analysis methods considering movable charging characteristics of electric vehicles including movable discharging characteristics which could be affected by the diffusion progress of electric vehicles.

A Robot System Maintained with Renewable Energy

  • Energy autonomy is a system that is sustained by energy from an independent and distributed source such as renewable energy. In this paper, we propose a robotic energy autonomy in which a robot obtains energy from a renewable energy source with a limited storage capacity. As an energy transfer method, wireless power transfer is used to solve the problem of the conventional contact charging method, mechanical complexity, and to obtain high energy transfer efficiency, the image information is used to align the transmitting and receiving coils accurately. A small scale thermoelectric energy source with boost converter, battery charger, and wireless power transfer coil is constructed and an actual charging experiment is conducted to verify the proposed autonomy system.

  • 본 연구는 전기차를 렌트한 이용자의 만족도가 전기차 구매에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 검증을 목적으로 한다. 연구 결과, 전기 렌터카 이용 후 만족도와 유의미한 상관관계를 가지는 요인으로 성별, 연령, 정숙성 및 승차감, 충전 인프라가 확인되었으며, 연령, 정숙성 및 승차감, 충전 인프라 요인은 전기 렌터카 이용 후 만족도를 통해 전기차 구매 관심 및 의도에 영향력을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구의 차별성은 전기차 체험을 통한 전기차 보급 견인의 주요 수단으로서 전기 렌터카에 초점을 맞추어 실증연구를 통해 분석했다는 측면과 전기 렌터카를 통해 전기차를 처음 경험한 이용자들을 분석 대상으로 한정했다는 측면을 들 수 있다.

사용자 편의성을 향상시킨 스마트 시티용 냉·온열 벤치 시스템 개발 (Development of Cooling and Heating Bench System with Improved User Convenience for Smart City)

  • In this study, a smart bench was developed and researched smart benches that can contribute to user convenience and satisfaction by installing them in parks, bus stops, and tourist attractions in line with the rapidly changing construction of smart cities. The smart bench is automatically operated by the control system according to the external temperature and provides additional functions such as charging, lighting, and advertising to improve general bench functions as well as heating in winter and cooling in summer, making it suitable for smart urbanization. The developed smart bench is designed to be strong enough to withstand loads of about 2,500 N. It minimizes the visible parts such as assembled bolts and 220V power supply wires, It can also give aesthetic effects. The development was carried out with the aim of waterproofing and dustproofing of IP44 grade in accordance with the climate of Republic of Korea, which has four seasons, and it is advantageous for long-term use because the paint was selected for the weather ability (discoloration) grade 3 or higher. If smart bench is commercialized, it is believed that various options can be provided to the smart bench market, where buyers had few product options, as the parts were developed in an assembled type so that all functions can be responded in an optional form according to the installation environment and the buyer's budget.

유도방식 무선충전기용 송수신 장치간 정렬상태 검출기법 (The method of alignment detection between Tx and Rx set in wireless inductive charger)

  • 본 논문은 무선충전기에 있어서 효율 증대 기법에 관한 것으로, 송수신 장치간 정렬상태를 수신 장치인 스마트폰에 표시할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 구현된 무선충전기는 세계 표준인 WPC( Wireless Power Consortium ) 방식을 기반으로 되어 있어 수 100kHz 이하의 주파수로 동작하고 누설 자속을 최소화할 수 있도록 자기장 차폐제를 사용한 송수신 코일 구조를 갖는다. 송수신 장치의 정렬 상태를 확인할 수 있는 종래 방식은 수신단 코일의 수신 레벨만을 표시하는 단순 방식이지만 본 방식은 수신 장치의 위치까지 알 수 있어 보다 진보된 방식이라 할 수 있다. 무선 충전기 송수신 장치의 정렬상태 검출을 위하여 수신 코일의 위치변화와 자기장 세기가 서로 선형관계에 있음을 확인하고 삼각측량법을 이용하여 이 선형관계가 위치 정보로 변환될 수 있음을 보였다. 실험을 통하여 선형관계에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요소들을 분석하고 이 요소들을 최적화한 상태에서의 선형 특성을 가질 수 있음을 보였다.

LPG/CNG용 센서 모듈 및 관제시스템 S/W 개발 (Development of Sensor Module and Control System Software for LPG/CNG Stations)

  • 국내에 설치되어 있는 LPG 충전소는 약 2000개로 매년 26개씩 증가하고 있다. 이 중 15년 이상 된 노후화 된 충전소는 약 500개로 전체의약 25% 해당된다. 이 중 약 86%는 도시에 설치되어 있어 사고 발생 시 매우 큰 피해가 우려되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 따라, 본 논문에서는 LPG/CNG 충전소에서 가스 누출 및 화재 사고를 예방 및 대응 할 수 있는 가스센서 모듈 및 관제시스템을 개발하였다. 듀얼 타입 센서 모듈은 메탄, 부탄 및 수소의 센서에 측정 된 데이터를 FR433Mhz통신을 통하여 데이터를 수집하여, 전달할 수 있는 기능을 가지고 있다. 또한, 각각의 센서는 두 개씩 부착되어 안정성 및 정확도를 높였다. 통합관제시스템의 S/W는 센서에서 측정 된 장치의 실시간 데이터를 감지하고, 위험상황 발생 시 PC와 스마트폰으로 전달하여 위험 경보를 관리자가 시간과 장소에 상관없이 충전소의 상황을 확인 할 수 있도록 하였다.

Building Smart Microgrid Test-Bed를 이용한 전력사용량 패턴 최적화방안 연구 (A Study on the Optimization of Power Consumption Pattern using Building Smart Microgrid Test-Bed)

  • The microgrid system is the combination of photovoltaic(PV) array, load, and battery energy storage system. The control strategies were defined as multi-modes of operation, including rest operation without use of battery, power charging, and power discharging, which enables grid connected mode or islanded mode. Photovoltaic power is a problem of the uniformity of power quality because the power generated from solar light is very sensitive to variation of insolation and duration of sunshine. As a solution to the above problem, energy storage system(ESS) is considered generally. There fore, in this study, we did basic research activities about optimization method of the amount of energy used, using a smart microgrid test-bed constructed in building. First, we analyzed the daily, monthly and period energy pattern amount of power energy used, and analyzed PV power generation level which is built on the roof. Utilizing building energy pattern analysis data, we was studied an efficient method of employing the ESS about building power consumption pattern and PV generation.

  • This study investigates an economic and highly efficient power-converter topology and its modulation scheme for 60 kW rapid EV charger system. The target system is a three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier topology. A new carrier-based PWM scheme, which is characterized by simple implementation using logic gates, is introduced in this paper. This PWM scheme replaces the diode rectifier equivalent switching state with an active switching state to produce the same effective current flowing path. As a result, the distortion of input current during the polarity reversal of capacitor line voltage can be mitigated. The proposed modulation technique is confirmed through simulation verification. The proposed modulation technique and its implementation scheme can expand the operation range of the three-phase three-switch buck-type rectifier with high-quality AC input and capacitor ripple current.

  • This study intended to develop a motorcycle safe vest that can be prepared against accidents by mounting a smart module (with built-in sensor) on the safe vest in order to emphasize safety among functional aspects of the motorcycle clothing. The research method investigated professional books, prior research, and Internet data to examine the characteristics of motorcycle wear and the theoretical examination of smart wear, and analyzed the functional characteristics of the design by reviewing smart jacket and vest design cases for motorcycles currently on the market. As a results of study an interface device sensor, which contains a sensor with IMU(Intertial Measurement Unit) and CPU(Central Processing Unit), was inserted into a motorcycle top in order to draw attention to the safety of motorcycle riders. The IMU sensor attached to the vest detected the tilting motion of the rider to either left or right side to obtain data on left or right direction, sudden stop, and so forth and displayed left or right turn signal and sudden stop sign on the backplate (back) through the LED module. As for charging the device to operate LEDs, a generator, which is designed to convert the heat energy in the exhaust into electric energy, was used to efficiently self-produce the power required to operate LEDs of the top while riding.
