  • Energy and environment problem has been arisen and become one of the major concerns all over the world, due to scarce energy resources and inefficient energy consumption. Recently, energy-IT(EIT) convergence technology has been getting more attention, being expected to be one of key technologies to resolve the problem, and R&D projects on various areas of EIT convergence technologies have been launched in many countries on a large scale. Korea government and companies have also been interested in the development of EIT technologies, however, the scopes of technology areas are limited to just a small part such as smart grid technology. This paper investigates effectiveness of each EIT convergence technology and deduces EIT convergence technologies using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). It is expected that our research could be meaningful information supporting policies on R&D projects of EIT convergence technologies promoted to save energy and strengthen the national competitiveness. Our research results show that the EIT convergence technology area of green building would be the most effective EIT convergence technology except smart grid, and network-based energy management system would be the most effective amongst the sub-areas of green building.

  • Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) have been increasingly applied in private and public networks during the last decade. In a different context, voice over IP (VoIP) has emerged as a new technology for making voice calls around the world over IP networks and is replacing traditional telecommunication systems. The popularity of the two technologies motivated the deployment of VoIP over WMNs. However, VoIP over WMNs suffers from inefficient bandwidth utilization because of two reasons: i) attaching 40-byte RTP/UDP/IP header to a small VoIP payload (e.g., 10 bytes) and ii) 841 μs delay overhead of each packet in WMNs. Among several solutions, VoIP packet multiplexing is the most prominent one. This technique combines several VoIP packets in one header. In this study, we will survey all the VoIP multiplexing methods over WMNs. This study provides a clear understanding of the VoIP bandwidth utilization problem over WMNs, discusses the general approaches in which packet multiplexing methods could be performed, provides a detailed study of present multiplexing techniques, shows the aspects that hinder the VoIP multiplexing methods, discusses the factors affected by VoIP multiplexing schemes, shows the merits and demerits of different multiplexing approaches, provides guidelines for designing a new improved multiplexing technique, and provides directions for future research. This study contributes by providing guidance for designing a suitable and robust method to multiplex VoIP packets over WMNs.

  • Objectives : This study evaluated knowledge structure and its effect factor by analysis of co-author and keyword networks in Korea's preventive medicine sector. Methods : The data was extracted from 873 papers listed in the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and was transformed into a co-author and keyword matrix where the existence of a 'link' was judged by impact factors calculated by the weight value of the role and rate of author participation. Research achievement was dependent upon the author's status and networking index, as analyzed by neighborhood degree, multidimensional scaling, correspondence analysis, and multiple regression. Results : Co-author networks developed as randomness network in the center of a few high-productivity researchers. In particular, closeness centrality was more developed than degree centrality. Also, power law distribution was discovered in impact factor and research productivity by college affiliation. In multiple regression, the effect of the author's role was significant in both the impact factor calculated by the participatory rate and the number of listed articles. However, the number of listed articles varied by sex. Conclusions : This study shows that the small world phenomenon exists in co-author and keyword networks in a journal, as in citation networks. However, the differentiation of knowledge structure in the field of preventive medicine was relatively restricted by specialization.

  • According to rapid increment of demand for wireless Local Area Network (LAN), the HyperLAN of 5.1-533GHz and 5.725-5.825GHz is newly allocated for wireless LAM in many regions over the world. Also, because most of mobile communication equipments are small, the size of antenna is important factor of effective design. In this paper, the compacted and wide bandwidth antenna is designed for wireless LAN at 5GHz band. Although the structure of U-shaped slot antenna is simple, It has large bandwidth of $10-40\%$. Also, the U-slot antenna has good radiation pattern. However, in general, the size of U-slot antenna is large. Therefore, it is difficult to apply to wireless equipment such as PDA and Notebook. This proposed antenna has a wide bandwidth by U-shaped slot in rectangular patch and is compacted by using two layered dielectric substrates and foam. For the design of U-slot antenna, the Finite Difference Time Domain method is applied. Also, the method of MPI parallel program is used for the enhancement of the analyzing speed of the FDTD method.

  • In the US, there are no governing bodies within the federal executive departments dedicated to the arts and cultural affairs. Direct government subsidies for the arts are relatively small compared to other countries with a comparable economy and standard of living. Nevertheless, the US produces artworks, artists, and arts groups, leading the world's arts and culture. Incorporating the concepts of network governance and shared governance, this paper examines the dynamic roles and interrelationships among various for-profit/nonprofit arts organizations, foundations, councils, service organizations, arts advocacy groups, and professional/amateur associations from the federal to local levels that compose the ecology of American arts and culture. Through our evaluation, we conclude that the local/state/federal arts agencies and arts organizations at various levels influence each other via the principle of subsidiarity and isomorphism, creating a unique cultural policy and arts-supporting system that correspond to the political and social structure and environment of the United States.

  • Nowadays, gun crimes occur very frequently not only in public places but in alleyways around the world. In particular, it is essential to detect a person armed by a pistol to prevent those crimes since small guns, such as pistols, are often used for those crimes. Because conventional works for armed person detection have treated an armed person as a single object in an input image, their accuracy is very low. The reason for the low accuracy comes from the fact that the gunman is treated as a single object although the pistol is a relatively much smaller object than the person. To solve this problem, we propose a novel algorithm called APDA(Armed Person Detection Algorithm). APDA detects the armed person using in a post-processing the positions of both wrists and the pistol achieved by the CNN-based human body feature detection model and the pistol detection model, respectively. We show that APDA can provide both 46.3% better recall and 14.04% better precision than SSD-MobileNet.

  • Electronic voting systems have been widely used in many countries around the world since the mid-1990s. In recent years, studies have applied blockchain to existing electronic voting systems in order to provide reliability, fairness, and transparency for voters. This approach is highly useful as a technology that promotes decentralized citizen participation. However, the existing electronic voting systems using blockchain have not sufficiently considered anonymity. Lack of anonymity acts as an important constraint in cases of small- and medium-sized voting, which is often required in decentralized citizen participation. In this study, we propose a model that provides anonymity to a voting system using blockchain by applying the concept of the master node in Dash cryptocurrency. First, we define the differences in the requirements of the transfer and voting systems in blockchain. We propose a parallel and autonomous model and algorithm to provide anonymity in the blockchain-that is, a decentralized development environment. In addition, a discussion of security and the environment for the proposed model is described.

  • This study is on the formation and the development process of urban space by referring to the literature in Yeosu where is the important location in logistics & transportation and maritime since the Japanese colonial period. There are many factors and results of the development process in Yeosu by the opening port, railroads, loads and industries. The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of the formation process of urban space and the characteristics of physical space in Yeosu. The results are as follow; The urban formation and development process in Yeosu where was a small fishing village in the 1910s is largely divided into four processes. Formation: the population increased due to constructions such as of a railroad, a port, and roads and there were many reclamations around the center of the old city center in the Japanese colonial period. Stagnation: There was no urban development due to stagnation, war, and the Yeo-sun Incident. Expand: the industrialization of the Yeocheon Industrial Complex and Gwangyang Steel and other areas around Yeosu led to a surge in Yeosu's population. To cope with this, the city was expanded through three land readjustment projects and the development of large-scale residential complexes. Decline and Remodeling: Yeosu's urban space declined due to the decline of fisheries and the decrease in marine and railway logistics. And the expansion and improvement of the transportation network for hosting the Yeosu World Expo increased the accessibility of the old city center, transforming it into a tourist city using cultural heritage and nature.

  • Debates continue to multiply on the definition and rationale of Southeast Asia as a region and on the utility of the multidisciplinary field of area studies. However, we have now entered a post-colonialist, post-Orientalist, post-structuralist stage of reflection and re-orientation in the era of globalization, and a strong tendency on the part of insiders to pose these issues in terms of an insider-outsider dichotomy. On the one hand, the study of Southeast Asia for researchers from outside the region has become fragmented. This is for very obvious reasons: the strengthening and re-energizing of academic disciplines, the increasing popularity of other non-regional multidisciplinary studies, and the entry of globalization studies into our field of vision. On the other hand, how has the local Southeast Asian academy addressed these major issues of change in conceptualizing the region from an insider perspective? In filling in and giving substance to an outsider, primarily Euro-American-Australian-centric definition and vision of Southeast Asia, some local academics have recently been inclined to construct Southeast Asia in terms of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): a nation-state-based, institutional definition of what a region comprises. Others continue to operate at a localized level exploring small-scale communities and territories, while a modest number focus on sub-regional issues (the Malay-Indonesian world or the Mekong sub-region are examples). However, further reflections suggest that the Euro-American-Australian hegemony is a thing of the past and the ground has shifted to a much greater emphasis on academic activity within the region. Southeast Asia-based academics are also finding it much more important to network within the region and to capture, understand, and analyze what Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scholars are saying about Southeast Asia, its present circumstances and trajectories, and their increasingly close involvement with the region within a greater Asia-Pacific rim. The paper argues that the insider-outsider dichotomy requires considerable qualification. It is a neat way of dramatizing the aftermath of colonialism and Orientalism and of reasserting local priorities, agendas, and interests. But there might be a way forward in resolving at least some of these apparently opposed positions with recourse to the concepts of culture and identity in order to address Southeast Asian diversities, movements, encounters, hybridization, and hierarchies.
