오염등급과 유형화 분석의 연계에 의한 북한강 최북단 유역 소하천의 수질개선방안 연구 (Water Quality Improvement Plan for Small Streams in the Northernmost Basin of Bukhan River based on Pollution Grade and Typological Analysis Linkage)

  • In the northernmost basin of the Bukhan River, pollution sources can have a concentrated distribution. In these basins, small streams show low flow with various and rapid water quality change in low pollutants load. Therefore, a water quality improvement plan of small streams and main stem will be necessary to establish the characteristics of small streams. This study selected a representative Hwacheon-gun in the northernmost basin of the Bukhan River. Hydro analysis was performed with GIS tools using DEM. A total of 152 small streams were listed. A total of 51 survey locations were selected after applying the selection criteria. Flow rate and water qualities were investigated. Pollution sources and pollutants loads were calculated for each basin. Pollution grade and typological classification were performed by cluster analysis using standardized environmental condition factors. As a result, G04, G01, H01 locations were found to have the worst pollution grades whereas J01, P01, and P02 had less pollution. Typological analyses were able to classify six types for the surveyed small streams. An effective water quality improvement plan was obtained based on the results of pollution grade and typological analysis using environmental condition factors of this study.

  • The objectives of this study are to amend of the Small Stream Maintenance Act. In general, small streams have diverse ecological and social characteristics because they are extensively formed across watersheds over time. However, small streams in Korea have been significantly degraded primarily because of human disturbances including stream maintenance activities. Especially, covered streams are majority problem in the Small Stream Maintenance. In order to improve this problem, the Small Stream Maintenance Act be amended to the Small Stream Management Act.

샛강 생태복원을 위한 해외 사례 연구의 고찰 (An Analytical Study of Foreign Researches and Examples on Ecological Restoration for the Small Stream)

  • Most domestic small rivers and streams due to industrialization and urbanization have managed by concrete structures. The environmental functions of the river and stream are disappearing and urban streams play only the role of drainage systems. Also, the researches to restore natural streams are something yet to develop and not established the restoration for ecological functions of a small stream. Therefore the researches are required to develop ecological engineering system for watershed management system to handle various pollutants with restoration for ecological functions of a small stream. To develop this, the ecological engineering system for watershed management system could be developed with ecological conservation. In addition, ecological engineering system for watershed management system should be prior to conserve the habitat of biological resources and water conservation and applied to the original shape of streams. Also, it should be designed to restore the micro-topography of stream, the habitat of plant population in watershed. It is needed to develop the integrated researches to restore a small stream ecosystem.

중·소하천에서 물리적 구조의 교란과 하안식생 귀화율의 관계 (The Relationship between Disturbances of Hydromorphological Structures and Naturalized Plants Ratio in Small and Mid-sized Streams)

  • Current ecological stream restoration is focusing on recovery of physical characteristic and ecological functions of individual stream. For effective stream restoration, the relationship between stream environment and riparian flora should be investigated. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between disturbance of hydromorphological structures and naturalized plants ratio in small to mid-sized streams. For the study sites, Gwanpyeong stream, Dongdal stream, and Yongchoo streams were chosen as 'reference stream' while, Gunnam stream, Anchang stream, and Hwa stream were chosen as 'damaged stream'. The hydromorphological structures of streams were evaluated with LAWA and flora of the streams were completely enumerated to calculate naturalized plants ratio. The result showed that there was a significant correlation between the outcome of LAWA and naturalized plants ratio(r=0.675, p<0.01). The result of factor analysis of LAWA identified three factors, 'River front and land use', 'River bed materials and structures', and 'Crossing structure and bar'. Among the factors of hydromorphological structures given by the result of factor analysis, 'river front and land use' and 'bed materials and structures' have statistically significant relationship with naturalized plants ratio($R^2$=0.470, p<0.01). Given this results, quantitative analysis on the relationship between disturbance of hydromorphological structures of streams and naturalized plants ratio could provide some essential information for stream restoration. Also, as this study figured out major factors of hydromorphological structures that affect naturalized plants ratio, it might help monitor ecological states and current problems of small and mid-sized streams.

계측자료 기반 Nomograph를 이용한 실시간 소하천 홍수량 산정 연구 (Real-Time Flood Forecasting by Using a Measured Data Based Nomograph for Small Streams)

  • 극한호우 발생빈도 증가로 소하천 홍수 피해가 증가하고 있어 소하천 리스크 관리를 위해 유량 계측 요구가 증가하고 있다. 이에 행정안전부 (MOIS) 소속 국립재난안전연구원 (NDMI)은 CCTV 기반 자동유량계측기술 (CCTV based Automatic Discharge Measurement Technology, CADMT)을 개발하고 성능 검증과 재난 리스크 관리기술 개발을 위해 시범소하천을 운영하고 있다. 본 연구는 CADMT가 설치된 능막천과 중선필천 2개 소하천을 선정하고 소하천에 가장 가까운 기상청 Automatic Weather System 강우량 자료와 유량 계측자료를 이용해 4-Parameter Logistic 방법으로 Nomograph를 개발한다. 개발한 Nomograph를 검증하기 위하여 본 연구는 각 소하천에서 홍수량을 예측하고 그 결과를 계측 유량과 비교한다. 검증 결과 예측치는 계측치를 잘 재현하는 것으로 나타나 향후, 보다 정확도 높은 계측자료가 수집되고 이에 기반한 Nomograph가 개발된다면 정확도 높은 홍수 예·경보가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

부착조류와 유기오탁지수에 의한 소하천의 수질평가 (Water Quality Assessment in Small Streams by Epilithic Diatoms and DAIpo)

  • In this study, a method for river water quality evaluation by algal examination was investigated. For development of this method, algae living in small rural streams in Gwangcheon-Cheon were collected and observed by microscope. Samples were collected at six stations from May 2008 to May 2009. To elucidate the relationship between pollution and the algal species, diatom grasps were collected from the streams and used to determine the water quality grade. The numerical EC value was compared with the value of DAIpo (Diatom Assemblage Index of Organic Water Pollution), and the results showed a tendency to a mutually inverse relationship. Further, the numerical BOD and COD values were compared to the DAIpo value. The results showed that, various diatoms reside in Gwangcheon-Cheon, and water quality was found to be second-grade at all the examined points. These results indicate pollution of streams by livestock wastewater; however continuous monitoring will be necessary to more definitely determine the reason for the Gwangcheon-Cheon pollution.

강우시 도시지역 비점오염물질의 하천 유입 산정 (Analysis of Nonpoint Source Pollutants in Urban Stormwater Runoff)

  • 최근 보다 높은 수준의 하천 수질 관리를 위해 비점오염물질 관리와 관련된 연구 및 사업이 지속적으로 수행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 대규모 도시를 통과하는 도시하천의 수질관리방안 마련을 목적으로 본류와 연계된 5개 지천에 대한 강우시 비점오염물질 유출특성 분석을 수행하였다. 모니터링은 강우 전(Phase I), 강우 1시간 이후(Phase II), 강우 6시간 이후(Phase III)의 3단계로 수행되었으며, BOD, COD, TN, TP, SS 등의 수질항목과 유량이 측정되었다. 강우 시 5개 지천 모두에서 비점오염물질의 농도 및 유입부하량 증가가 확인되었으며, 상대적으로 우선 관리 대상 지천과 지천별 우선 관리 비점오염물질이 선정되었다. 해당 연구결과는 향후 도심지역 비점오염물질 모니터링 방안 및 점감시설 설치 등을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 예정이다.

판별분석을 통한 농촌유역 소하천의 수질등급모형(WQLM) 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Water Quality Level Model (WQLM) for the Small Streams of Rural Watersheds with Discriminant Analysis)

  • This study was carried out to complement water quality standards and to establish new concept for water quality standards reflecting current state of water quality in small streams. By this purpose, discriminant analysis was performed and Water Quality Level Model (WQLM) was developed using the data such as EC, BOD, $COD_{Mn}$, SS, T-N, T-P, $NH_3-N$ in 224 agricultural streams. To give water quality level for water quality parameters, it divided into 20% respectively in the order of excellent water quality. On the basis of the lowest water quality level, water quality level of small streams is granted. As a result of it, number of stream corresponding to Level I was no, Level II was 2 streams, Level III was 22 streams, Level IV was 70 streams, and Level V was 130 streams. Average of water quality in each level was the highest in Level V. EC, SS, and T-N of 7 parameters were selected in variance concerned water quality level. By standardized canonical discriminant function coefficient, EC of three variances was the highest in 0.625 at the discriminant power. The next was T-N (0.509), SS (0.414). By discriminant function for water quality level, Level II was equal to $-2.973+19.376{\times}(EC)+0.647{\times}(T-N)+0.009{\times}(SS)$, Level III was equal to $-3.288+19.190{\times}(EC)+0.733{\times}(T-N)+0.041{\times}(SS)$, Level IV was equal to $-4.462+27.097{\times}(EC)+0.792{\times}(T-N)+0.053{\times}(SS)$, and Level V was equal to $-9.117+40.040{\times}(EC)+1.305{\times}(T-N)+0.111{\times}(SS)$. As a result of test at real agricultural watershed of Jeongan and Euidang in Gongju city, the fitness of WQLM was high to 88.78%. But, to get accomplished water quality assessment more exactly in agricultural streams, we had to concentrate and get vast data, and WQLM was modified and complemented continually.

농촌 소하천에서의 재폭기 계수 추정 (Prediction of Reaeration Coefficients in Rural Small Streams)

  • Reaeration phenomena, the physical process of absorption of oxygen from atmosphere, is one of the important parameters of dissolved oxygen simulation in streams. This study was aimed at predicting reaeration coefficients in rural small streams, examining the influence of drop structure on reaeration and the seasonal fluctuation of reaeration coefficients. Reaeration coefficients of five streams including four tributaries of Bokha watershed in Gyeonggi Ichon and Onyang stream in Chungnam Onyang were measured. Constant rate injection (CRI) method using propane and Rhodamine-WT as gas and dye tracer was adopted. Reaeration coefficients ranged between 6.16 and 29.16 reciprocal day, higher than those in USGS database. Prediction equation,$k_2=CV^{0.593}$, was regressed from the measured data at 95% confidence level, with an absolute error of 21.2% and a standard error of 4.0 reciprocal days. Reaeration coefficients of experimental reaches with drop structure showed percentile increases of 42.3 to 159.2 compared to those without it, an indication that drop structure plays an important role on stream reaeration. Taking into consideration the seasonal fluctuation of reaeration coefficients, the values measured during September and October were the highest, mainly due to the removal of aquatic plants. by intensive rainfall during summer.

건천화된 농촌소하천의 시·공간적 수문 수질 특성분석 (Temporal and Spatial Analysis of Hydrology and Water Quality in Small Rural Streams for Stream Depletion Investigation)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the temporal and spatial characteristics of the stream flow of small rural streams for investigating the status of stream depletion located downstream of irrigation reservoir. Bonghyun and Hai reservoirs and each downstream were selected for this study. Streamflow was measured for 8 stations downstream from two reservoirs from 2010 to 2012. The water quality samples were collected monthly from the 8 stream stations and 2 reservoir stations from 2011 to 2012. The stream depletion was found in most of the downstream of reservoirs for the non-irrigation period and even in the irrigation period when there were a lot of antecedent precipitation. We found that the stream segments where there were few streamflow, vegetation covers the stream and block the streamflow which makes the stream lost its original function as a stream. Water quality monitoring results of Bonghyun stream indicated that the concentration of SS, Turbidity, TOC, COD were decreased as the stream flows from the reservoir to downstream while the TN and TP were increased. The correlation analysis for water quality data indicated that the correlation between T-N and T-P was high for Bonghyeon and Sukji streams, respectively. Continuous monitoring for rural streams located in downstream of reservoirs are required to quantify the status of stream flow depletion and determine the amount of environmental flows.
