  • The demand for the lightweight wall has increased as the structure of the multi-unit dwelling has shift to the rahmen structure. The lightweight wall is required to secure certain degree of shock resistance for the structural safety. The study performed the load analysis test for 7 small hard bodies with different masses and shapes and 5 hard materials which applied the impact load on the wall. It was found out from the experiment that different pendulum weight doubled the load maximum even though the shock energy was the same. In addition, the study compared and analyzed the weight of materials and the load of small hard bodies to propose fundamental data for the material design of the lightweight wall.

  • It is hard to find experimental data for a model test of small high-speed planning boats. It is difficult to verify the performance seen in a model test for a high-speed boat because the ship-model scale-ratio is very small and the flow velocity of the circulating water channel and the X-carriage speed of the towing tank are restricted. Therefore most hull-form designs for high-speed small boats depend on the sea-trial test result for similar boats or evaluation through numerical calculations. This study investigated the anti-rolling effect of the stern sub-body in a 50-knot doss planning boat. To carry out this work, new model test procedures were set up in the actual sea. Using this method, the anti-rolling effect of the stern sub-body was investigated. A stern sub-body attached to a planning boat was proved to be effective in reducing the roll and pitch angle.

  • The use of non-bearing light weight wall has increased recently due to the increase of high-rise buildings and supply of long-life housing. Light weight wall has advantages such as reducing the self-weight of the building, convenience in installation, and shortening construction period, however, must have a sufficient strength to external force. This study standardized the impact resistance test method for light weight walls by using the actual impact load obtained through load analysis test in previous studies. The impact resistance test method was divided into the test method that uses soft body and the one that uses hard body. The size of specimen was set up as height 2.4m and width 3.0m. The size and shape of the body followed those used in BS 5234-2 and so on for the compatibility with the test method used overseas. The judgment criteria for impact resistance based on test results were not defined uniformly as the assessment of functional damage can vary depending on the type of material, structural method, purpose of wall, and so on even when the same impact load was applied.

  • A 6-month-old intact female Bichon Frise dog weighing 0.9 kg presented with vomiting, anorexia, and lethargy persisting for 3 days. No remarkable abnormalities were detected on the history or physical examination. Laboratory findings were mostly normal, except for elevated levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Abdominal radiography revealed a fluid-dilated stomach and gas-dilated intestinal loops in the regional areas. Abdominal ultrasonography was performed to investigate the cause of gastrointestinal dilation, which revealed a rectangular, homogeneous, echogenic foreign material with no shadowing in the small intestine, causing mechanical obstruction. Upon further inquiry involving detailed re-take of history with the owner, a history of ingesting dog gum 4 days prior was identified. On surgical enterotomy, the hard pet food was identified and removed from the distal duodenum. Postoperatively, the patient's clinical signs showed complete improvement, with a return to normal appetite. The present case demonstrates that less-digestible, hard pet food, despite showing no shadowing on ultrasonography, can act as a foreign material, causing mechanical intestinal obstruction in a small-breed puppy. Furthermore, surgical removal of these materials is necessary in cases of intestinal obstruction.

  • In this paper, a three elastic body sliding contact problem is modeled to investigate more precise wear mechanisms related with the sealing surface. A 3-D finite element contact model, a small spherical elastic particle, PTFE seal and steel surface, is solved using a nonlinear finite element code MARC. The deformed seal and steel surface shapes, von-Mises and principal stress distributions are obtained for different seal sliding distances. The entrapped small particle within PTFE seal results in very high stresses on the steel surface which exceeded its yield strength and produce plastic deformation such as groove and torus. The sealing surface could also be worn down by sub-surface fatigue due to intervening small particles together with the well-known abrasive wear. Therefore the proposed contact model adopted in this paper can be applied in design of various sealing systems, and further studies are required.

  • In order to obtain high proportion of Y sperm the semen was laid over 6%,10% and 20% bovine serum albumin. Separated sperm were stained with quinacrine mustard in order to see F - body which could be seen in human Y sperm. But we could'nt find F-body in the bull sperm. So sperm were compared with size of sperm head. As a result of observation separated sperm was small in size of length and width of sperm head as compared with control sperm. So it was found that the proportion of Y sperm showed a marked increase in separated layer. Then the higher albumin density was, the higher the proportion of Y sperm which had smaller head and faster motility was. But the higher albumin density was, the lower the recovery rate of sperm was. So it was hard to separate Y sperm in oligospermia.

  • Vehicle manufacturing plant is a typical mixed-model production system. Generally it consists of three main shops including body shop, painting shop and assembly shop in addition to engine shop. Each shop contains diverse manufacturing processes, all of which are integrated in a form of flow line. Due to the high pressure from the market requesting small-volume large variety production, production planning becomes very critical for the competitiveness of automotive industry. In order to save costs and production time, production planning system is requested to meet some designated requirements for each shop: to balance the work load in body and assembly shops, and to minimize the number of color changes in painting shop. In this context, we developed a sequencing module for a vehicle production planning system using the ILOG Solver Library. It is designed to take into account all the manufacturing constraints at a time with meeting hard constraints in body shop, minimizing the number of soft constraints violated in assembly shop, and minimizing the number of color changes in painting shop.

  • Through the study on judgment of Body form and settle Energy flow(立形定氣) before diagnose the patients, the results are as follows. The observation of the body form is to determine prosperity and deficiency of each internal organ. It is necessary to distinguish Body form loss(形脫) and Body form fullness(形充). Fat man(肥人), Thin man(瘦人), Creamy man(膏人), Muscular man(肉人), Small Fat man(脂人) are discriminated by fat distribution, fat content, and muscle mass. The observation of the body form means the observation of structure disorder, color change, develop part at body, head and face. The observation of the body form that is to determine prosperity and deficiency of each internal organ is from the limited knowledge of the anatomy. The observation of face color is considered by blood perfusion, blood oxygenation and accumulation of carotinoid, bilirubin and change of melanin in the facial skin. The prosperity and the deficiency of energy flow is considered by symptom combined with growth (<40 years) and aging (>40 years). The prosperity of energy flow includes the anger, anxious emotion and the deficiency of energy flow includes the fear, depressive emotion. The breathing type is expiratory exhalation like asthma patients in the prosperity of energy flow. The deficiency of energy flow is weakness to overcome the disease. The prosperity and the deficiency of energy flow are considered by body metabolic ratios (Basal metabolic Rate: BMR, Resting metabolic rate: RMR, Physical activity ratios: PASs). Development of subcutaneous fat is good in the person of prosperous energy flow. The person of prosperous energy flow is hard to overcome to heat weather than cold weather. The person of deficiency of energy flow has tendencies of low blood pressure, insufficiency of blood flow in the peripheral and being shocked. The person of deficiency of energy flow has tendencies of chronic fatigue syndrome or automatic nerve disorder. If the patient who has deficiency of energy flow has severe weight loss should be checked for the presence of disease. The observation of small and large of bone is to check the development and disorder of bone growth and aging. The observation of thickness and weakness of muscle is to check the development of muscle, particularly biceps, gastrocnemius, and rectus abdominal muscle. The observation of thickness and weakness of skin is to check the ability of regulating body temperature by sweating.

  • Giant cell interstitial pneumonia. a synonym for hard metal pneumoconiosis, is a unique form of pulmonary fibrosis resulting from an exposure to hard metal dust. A case of biopsy-proved giant cell interstitial pneumonia in the absence of appropriate history of exposure to hard metal dust is reported. The patient presented with clinical features of chronic interstitial lung disease or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He worked in a chemical laboratory at a fertilizer plant, where he had been exposed to various chemicals such as benzene and toluene. He denied having any other hobby in his house or job at work, which may have exposed him hard metal dust. High-resolution CT scan revealed multi-lobar distribution of ground glass opacity with peripheral and basal lung predominance. The retrieved fluid of bronchoalveolar lavage contained asbestos fiber and showed neutrotphil predominance. Surgical lung biopsy was performed for a definite diagnosis. Lung specimen showed alveolar infiltration of numerous multinucleated giant cells with mild interstitial fibrosis. Upon detailed examination of the lung tissue, one asbestos body was found. An analysis for mineral contents in lung tissue was performed. Compared with the control specimen, the amount of cobalt and several hard metal components in the lung tissue of this patient was ten times higher. We speculated that the inconsistency between occupational history and the findings of pathologic and mineralogical analyses could be explained by the difference in individual immunologic reactivity to hard metal dust despite the relatively small amount of unrecognized environmental exposure(ED: It's hard to understand what this phrase is trying to say).

  • Meridians are often defined as passway of Ki and Blood or something that can control funtions of the body. It is true but I think meridians have something more than that. Meridians are not just passway of Ki and Blood, rather they receive Ki from outside and transform it into Essence-Ki(精氣). If we draw a line in a body, we have Chang-Pu inside and meridians outside. Chang-Pu whim is inside our body hold Essence-Ki and manipulate it. These Chang-Pu also have variation of Ki accumulation-Tai-Yang, Soyang, T'ae$\breve{u}$m, Soum. Nevertheless, their gradients are not great so Ki flow among them are not great either. If there are much Ki flow in our body there will be much Ki consumption resulting in exhaustion of Essence-Ki, which is very hard to acquire. Therefore Chang-Pu keeps less gradient by not moving Ki a lot to preserve Essence-Ki. Chang-Pu, inside, are suitable for storing Ki while meridians, outside, are for producing Ki. Meridinas have great difference in Ki accumulation so there are great flow of Ki. This nature is suitable for producing Ki. For example, roots and limbs of a tree don't have much gradient in Ki. They are concentrated and their shape are not very distinct. On the other hand, leaves are wide and it's easy to tell front from back. It means their Ki gradient is great and their Ki flow is also great. Therefore they suitable for producing Ki. Just like this, meridians in our body are suitable for producing Ki. Areas that meridians cover are much wider than that of Chang-Pu. Four limbs and surface of our body are very distinctive. Ulnar side is high in Ki accumulation but is small in volume so it's better to store Ki there. Radial side is low in Ki accumulation but big in volume so it's better to receive and consume Ki there. Meridians are deeply involved in producing and storing Ki.
