  • In this study , hydrogen gas produced by anaerobic mocrobial at anaerobic condition. To maintain the high MLSS concentration, anaerobic sludge was transformed to granular sluge by adding both high molecular cationic polymer(M.W.>5,000,000) and silica sol. Hydrogen production was easily distributed, which seemed caused by methane producing microbial. Even low pH control(pH<5.5) was not the effective mean to block methane producing microbial. To decrease of $H_2$ production was closely related with the inclose of $CH_4$ production. Other mean expect for pH control must be devised for the efficient $H_2$ production.

  • This study deals with the Hydrated Ability of the Ready-Mixed Concrete's Sludge which is the recycling technology of that sludge. The experiment gathers sludge from Ready-mixed factory. shatters these into pieces in dry condition and understands the differences between current using Portland cement. And then. this examines the possibility of the recycle as a bonding agent through the Compressive Strength and considers the recovery of the hydration. This experiment concludes the same Chemical Composition with the normal Portland cement. while. under the appropriate procedure in hydration recovery. this sludge can be used as the bonding agent in cement. The chemical composition of solid Remicon sludge shows that it has 1.8 times $SiO_2$ than the normal Portland cement. meaning lots of aggregate in Remicon sludge. Also. the specific gravity of Remicon sluge increases with the rise of Baking Temperature and has no difference between 2.77 and 2.94. The mortar flow used for combining the baking material of Remicon sludge does was not changed and is the highest between $750^{\circ}C{\cdot}120min\;and\;800^{\circ}C{\cdot}180min$. Additionally. the Compressive Strength increases with the age, certifying the same Hydrated Ability like cement and the best condition for hydration is $750^{\circ}C{\cdot}120min.$

  • Biodegradability of cotton/polyester blend fabric was investigated employing activated sluge test, soil burial test and enzyme hydrolysis. Surface changes of the degraded sample were observed through a microscopy. Changes in X-ray diffraction patterns and crystallinity were examined using X-ray diffractometer. Experimental results revealed that biodegradability of cotton/polyester blend fabric was proportional to the blending ratio of cotton, not showing any synergy effect. Polyester 100% hardly degraded in this study. Through the comparison of the experimental method it was shown that the biodegradabilities determined from activated sludge test and enzymatic hydrolysis except soil burial test were linearly related to the blending ratio of cotton in the blent fabrics. It is probably because the biodegradability determined from the retention of tensile strength of fabrics buried in soil was affected by the stress distribution of polyesters throughout the fabric. From the microscopic observations it was revealed that fungi were grown on the fabric surface and the colors turned yellow, brown and black. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the heights of crystalline peak coming from cotton part in blend fabrics decreased whereas those coming from polyester part increased comperatively as time passed by. Crystallinities of cotton 100% fabric increased slightly at the begining and then decreased continuously.

  • In this paper, an optimal idenfication method using fuzzy-neural networks is proposed for modeling of nonlinear complex systems. The proposed fuzzy-neural modeling implements system structure and parameter identification using the intelligent schemes together wlth optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules, and neural networks(NNs) from input and output data of processes. Inference type for this fuzzy-neural modeling is presented as simplified inference. To obtain optimal model, the learning rates and momentum coefficients of fuzzy-neural networks(FNNs) are tuned automatically using improved modified complex method and modified learning algorithm. For the purpose of its application to nonlinear processes, data for route choice of traffic problems and those for activateti sluge process of sewage treatment system are used for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the proposed fuzzy-neural network modeling. The results show that the proposed method can produce the intelligence model with higher accuracy than other works achieved previously.

  • The potentiality of water treatment sludge as the alternative liner and cover materials in landfills is investigated. A series of tests were performed on sludge admixtures to examine their compaction, compressive strength, leaching, hydraulic conductivity characterisit its and the compatibility with representative leachate within landfills. Results from the tests show that low hydraulic conductivity can berachieved with sufficient stabilizer contents and curing. It is recognized that the hydrauac conductivity decreases with increasing bentonite content and the percentage of bentonite needed to make the hydrauic conductivity below 1$\times$10-7cm/ sec was 40% for water treatment sludge. It was found that the effect of the municipal waste leachate on the hydraulic conductivity of the admixtures is negligible.

  • This study examined the removal efficiency of the nitrogen and phosphorus in order to compensate for the combined process of ATAD(Autothermal Thermophilic Aaerobic Digestion) and EGSB(Expended Granular Sludge Bed), which are treatment methods for livestock wastewater, by introducing SBR(Sequencing Batch Reactor) as post-treatment process. The analysis on the treatment efficiency of each operation mode showed that, in the case of T-N, the treatment efficiency were 67.1% and 74.2% for Run-1 and Run-2, respectively, and in the case of T-P, the values were 71.2 and 74.1, respectively, which are indicating that the treatment efficacy is higher in the condition of Run-1, in which the time period of Anoxic and Aerobic segments were increased. In addition, the result of analyzing removal characteristics of nitrogen and phosphorus by Influx load showed that removal efficiency of nitrogen was better in the case of high influx load than in the case of low influx load. Regardless of Influx load, phosphorus showed constant influx concentration, so that removal efficiency of phosphorus was influenced littler by Influx load than that of nitrogen. This study also fed methanol as an external carbon source and performed experiment to induce denitrification under anoxic condition by using nitrate among nitrogen compounds of SBR reactor, and the results showed that intermittent feeding was more effective in Nitrogen Removal than composite feeding.

  • There are two primary sludge drying methods such as the direct heating microwave method and the indirect heating steam one. In this study, the drying treatment facility at sewage treatment plant A applied both of these drying methods. The research aimed to investigate the optimal operation approach for the drying facility, considering the input sludge and the moisture content data after the drying process. Moisture content and removal rate data were executed at the research facility from January 2016 to December 2018. First, the microwave, a direct heating drying method, performed intensive drying only on the outer surface of the sludge by directly applying heat to the sludge using far infrared rays, so effective sludge drying was not achieved. On the other hand, the steam method of the indirect heating method used steam from a gas boiler to maximize the utilization of the heat transfer area and reduce energy of the dryer, resulting in an effective sludge drying efficiency. The sludge moisture content brought into the sludge drying facility was about 80%, but the moisture content of the sludge that went through the drying facility was less than 10% of the design standard. Therefore, the steam method of the indirect heating method is more effective than the microwave method of the previous direct heating method and is more effective for maintenance It has proven that it is an efficient method of operating construction facilities.

  • Lab scale experimental study was carried out for SBR process, to investigate the effects of influent ship sewage organic compound removal and Bacillus sp. state on design parameters. This process was able to remove nitrogen and phosphorus as well as organic matter efficiently. More than 95% of chemical oxygen demand(COD) were removed. In addition, about 97% of total nitrogen (T-N) was reduced. The total phosphorus(T-P) reduction averaged 93%. The performance load of SBR process was shown to be 0.095kg ${\cdot}$ TOC/$m^{3}$ ${\cdot}$ day. The pH was decreased from 8.1 to 7.0 within 30 min and increased to 7.3 at the end of anoxic stage, and these phenomena were explained. The sluge produced in the SBR process is characterized by low generation rate (about 0.36kg ${\cdot}$ MLSS/kg ${\cdot}$ TOC) and excellent settleability. The number of Bacillus sp. in the SBR was 24.2%, indicating that Bacillus sp. was a predominant species in the reactor.
