  • In this paper, the high Gain and the wideband microstrip patch antenna, which is applicable to 5 GHz band wireless LAN, is designed and fabricated. Firstly to widen the bandwidth of microstrip antenna, U-Slot in rectangular form patch is inserted and used the microstrip line-Coaxial probe feeding method. Secondly, the antenna gain is improved to be embodied in $2{\times}2$ array form. As a result, in this paper, is designed and fabricated 5 GHz Band wideband U-Slot $2{\times}2$ array patch antenna using microstrip line-coaxial probe feeder. The U-Slot $2{\times}2$ array patch antenna were fabricated on the PEC using press-technique that is based on the simulation results. And the Anritsu 37169A vector network analyzer has been used in measurement of a prototype antenna. As a result, it was measured that the superior characteristic of wideband showing approximately 1 GHz ($5.110 GHz{\sim} 6.142 GHz$) of input return loss (VSWR < 2) in resonant frequency of 5 GHz band. And the antenna gain is 13 dBi, in both the E-plane and H-plane measured at 5.15 GHz, 5.35 GHz, 5.50 GHz, and 5.87 GHz.

  • The authors propose to use the slot system in order to improve of the efficiency for the cambered otter boards. The experiment is divided into 2 parts, one is the efficiency model test, and the other is the visualization model test. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the model otter boards were tested by efficiency model test to measure the shearing, drag force of the models and visualization test using hydrogen bubble method to observe the streak-line and time-line of flow around the models, and milk spout method to observe the separation zone in the wake behind the models. This study tested for 5 models such ad without slot, slot position 0.2C, 0.4C, 0.6C and 0.8C. The results obtained are as follows: \circled1 The maximum C sub(L) of model otter board with slot position 0.6C in attack angle 27$^{\circ}$ was the highest of all models, it's value was 1.59. \circled2 In general, the L/D ratio of the one slot otter boards were 16~28% higher than otter board without slot. \circled3 The slot position 0.6C was better than any other slot position, and it's conformed by visiualization. \circled4 As to the model otter board with slot position 0.6C, flow speed of the back side was faster 1.3 to 1.7 times than in the front side. \circled5 The size of the separated zone in case of the model otter board with 0.6C was smaller than that of any other models.

  • By using a slot-line in combination with microstrip lines, a coplanar wide-band balun is designed and fabricated. The slot-line of balun junction is compensated to be operated in C-band(4~8GHz), and therefore the results are agreement with theoritical prediction. Experimental data are given for a 3-section Chebyshev transformer-matched balun with a balanced-to-unbalanced line impedance ratio of 2 : 1. A bandwidth from 3.5GHz to 7.0GHz is obtained with V.S.W.R. of below 1.2 : 1. Maximum insertion loss is measured as 0.9dB, and the phase difference varies linearlly within 180$^{\circ}$$\pm$5$^{\circ}$.

  • In this paper, we proposed the compensation structures for the enhanced directivity of CPW(Coplanar waveguide) directional couplers with finite-extent backed conductor. The proposed compensation structures are. realized by expanding the slot width between signal line and ground plane in center region of couplers. The CPW couplers with expanded slot have the same phase velocity for even and odd mode because of added inductance and changed capacitance appropriately, so the enhanced directivity is accomplished. The designed CPW directional couplers have good directivity and matching characteristic at center frequency in simulation and measurement.

  • In this paper, a non-offset longitudinal shunt slot excited by an asymmetry compound iris on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide is presented as an element for a waveguide slot-array antenna(WSAA). By properly adjusting the iris dimension, a resonance of the slot at a desired frequency can be achieved. The proposed resonant slot has some advantageous properties, such as a wide range of normalized resonant conductance, and minimum change of phase in the waveguide at the resonance. In addition, when the slots are arrayed for a waveguide slot antenna, the unwanted cross-polarization level can be reduced because each slot is placed in a straight line. A $8{\times}1$ WSAA with -20 dB side-lobe level(SLL) is designed, fabricated, and tested experimentally. The measured results are well agreed with the simulated ones and have an SLL of -18.13 dB and a cross-polarization level of -48.85 dB at 9.41 GHz, which was improved by about 15 dB of that of the conventional longitudinal slot array antenna.

  • In this study, we develop and experimentally evaluate an ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna with a polygon tuning stub. The proposed antenna consists of a polygon slot with a $50-{\Omega}$ feed line. The effects of various parameters of the polygon-shaped slot and the polygon tuning stub on UWB applications are investigated. The optimum parameters were obtained using the Ansys HFSS software. The results of the studies on the surface current distributions of the operating frequency bands were discussed. The proposed antenna is fabricated on an inexpensive FR-4 substrate with the overall dimensions of $28.0mm{\times}30.0mm$. The measured results confirm that the proposed antenna covers frequencies from 2.58 GHz to 13.27 GHz, which is the UWB frequency range. Further, the proposed UWB antenna also exhibited that omni-directionality in the H-plane gain varied from 1.185 to 7.246 dBi. The good antenna characteristics of the proposed antenna make it suitable for UWB system applications.

  • In this paper, We proposed a UWB microstrip patch antenna with an O-shaped slot of the step structure and analyzed the characteristics of the antenna. In order to improve of frequency properties, size of the patch radiating element, radius change of the O-shaped slot, width of the feed line and a rectangular slot were optimized by CST simulation program. The proposed antenna showed that the 2.8GHz ~ 11.4GHz frequency, the minimum return loss and -10dB bandwidth were -32.39dB and 8.6GHz, respectively.

  • The various properties such as the electric current distribution, resonant frequency and radiation patterns of open-ended meander slot antenna placed on a small ground plane, are investigated to give the help in performing antenna design. Based upon these characteristics, the designed antenna which is only 22mm($0.06{\lambda}_g$) in height and 31mm($0.09{\lambda}_g$) in width can operate at the 433 MHz with the measured radiation efficiency of 8% and end-fire radiation pattern. These properties make the antenna suitable for the handheld device such as the wireless remote controller.

  • A rigorous analysis of a broad wall slot array is presented. The slot is longitudinal and offset from the center line in the rectangular waveguide. Pertinent integral equations are developed, taking into account finite wall thickness. The mothed of moment with entire basis function is used to solve a pair of coupled-integral equations, derived from the electromagnetic boundary conditions using modified Green's function, to find the tangential electric field on the upper and lower surfaces of the slot. Numerical results for resonant length and scattering parameters of the slots are Presented over a range of offset. Computed results are compared with experimental result.

  • Design methods are presented for an X-band traveling-wave slot array realized on a rectangular waveguide. An array of 21 longitudinal slots is realized on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide. The squint of the antenna main beam is adjusted using the element spacing and the waveguide broad wall dimension. The excitation of the array is controlled by the slot offset from the waveguide center line Multiple I-plane steps are placed around last slot elements so that the second-order beam due to tile reflected wave Is minimized A waveguide-to-coaxial adapter Is designed for feeding the array antenna from a coaxial system. Results of the design show an outstanding performance of the antenna 17.1 dB gain. 36"beam 1111, and -21 dB maximum sidelobe level.evel.
