Structural health monitoring-based dynamic behavior evaluation of a long-span high-speed railway bridge

  • The dynamic performance of railway bridges under high-speed trains draws the attention of bridge engineers. The vibration issue for long-span bridges under high-speed trains is still not well understood due to lack of validations through structural health monitoring (SHM) data. This paper investigates the correlation between bridge acceleration and train speed based on structural dynamics theory and SHM system from three foci. Firstly, the calculated formula of acceleration response under a series of moving load is deduced for the situation that train length is near the length of the bridge span, the correlation between train speed and acceleration amplitude is analyzed. Secondly, the correlation scatterplots of the speed-acceleration is presented and discussed based on the transverse and vertical acceleration response data of Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge SHM system. Thirdly, the warning indexes of the bridge performance for correlation scatterplots of speed-acceleration are established. The main conclusions are: (1) The resonance between trains and the bridge is unlikely to happen for long-span bridge, but a multimodal correlation curve between train speed and acceleration amplitude exists after the resonance speed; (2) Based on SHM data, multimodal correlation scatterplots of speed-acceleration exist and they have similar trends with the calculated formula; (3) An envelope line of polylines can be used as early warning indicators of the changes of bridge performance due to the changes of slope of envelope line and peak speed of amplitude. This work also gives several suggestions which lay a foundation for the better design, maintenance and long-term monitoring of a long-span high-speed bridge.

소형 트럭용 CNG/가솔린 겸용 엔진 개발과 성능 분석 (Development of CNG/Gasoline Bi-fuel engine for a small truck and the evaluation of engine performance)

  • A diesel truck of 1 ton is re-powered by a gasoline engine and the fuelling system of gasoline engine modified to gasoline/CNG bi fuel system. The engine characteristics such as fuel economy and power are evaluated by driving rest, sloping test and dynamometer. The driving test prove the driving cost is saved by 55% and the maximum speed is raised by 13%, which is mainly due to the higher calorific value of CNG. The sloping test is done on the road of which slope is 15%. The truck shows the mean velocity of 88km/h, which means that a re-powered truck is working fine. The BHP are measured by dynamometer. The power and torque produced by a re-powered truck are reduced by 13% and 14% respectively from the power of gasoline engine. The BHP reduction is one of main problems which one has to solve in near future.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity examination of the J-R curve characteristics for the nuclear reactor pressure vessel steels and Al alloys by the load ratio analysis. The results of the load ratio analysis are compared with those of the J-R curve which are obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The crack length calculated by the load ratio analysis is agree well with the measured final crack length. The slope of the exponential J-R curve estimated by the load ratio analysis is slightly smaller than that by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The J-R curve obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method is over-predicted and should be offsetted due to the initial negative crack. On the other hand, the load ratio analysis method can evaluate the J-R curve by only load-displacement curve without particular crack measurement equipment.

  • 암반사면을 안전하고 효과적으로 해석하기 위해서 암반의 역학적 특성을 면밀하게 조사해야 한다. 하지만 클리노미터를 사용한 절리조사의 한계점으로 인해 이를 보완한 새로운 측정법의 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 절리방향의 특성을 분석하기 위해 절리의 방향성을 현장에 적용할 수 있는 절리조사 측정장비를 개발하였다. 개발된 측정장비는 해석 소프트웨어와 하드웨어로 구분된다. 하드웨어는 암반 절리 방향성을 측정하는 측정모듈, 측정자료를 전송하는 전송모듈로 구성되었다. 소프트웨어는 측정모듈을 통해 얻은 데이터로부터 절리의 방향성을 분석하기 위해 개발하였으며 Drone Joint Orientation Survey Measurement로 명명하였다. 개발된 측정장비는 접근이 어려운 지역 등 조사자가 측정할 수 없는 경우에 현장적용성이 양호하며 절리의 방향성에 대한 실내시험결과를 효과적으로 분석할 수 있었다.

경사판 시험을 통한 토목섬유와 흙의 접촉 전단 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Interface Shear Properties Between Geosynthetics and Soils Through Inclined Board Tests)

  • 본 연구에서는 경사판 시험기를 이용하여 매립지에 흔히 나타나는 토목섬유/토목섬유, 토목섬유/모래의 접촉 마찰특성을 평가하였다. 경사판 시험기는 연직응력이 낮은 상태에서의 전단 거동을 정확히 모사하는 시험기로 널리 알려져 있으며, 본 연구에서는 이 시험기를 이용하여 각 접촉면의 마찰각을 평가하는 동시에, 각 토목섬유에 유발되는 인장력도 측정하였다. 실험 결과, 연직응력의 크기, 토목섬유의 종류, 토목섬유의 흙의 구성에 따라 접촉면의 마찰각과 토목섬유에 유발되는 인장력이 각각 다르게 측정됨을 확인하였다. 한편, 본 연구에서는 모래/지오텍스타일/지오멤브레인, 즉 두개의 접촉면을 동시에 모사하는 실험을 실시하여, 지오멤브레인 상부에 위치하는 지오텍스타일로 인해 지오멤브레인에 유발되는 인장력이 감소함을 관찰하였다. 본 연구 결과는 동일한 접촉면을 대상으로 실시된 직접전단 시험 결과와 비교하였으며, 마지막으로 상자의 변위가 발생하기 시작하는 시점, 즉 각 접촉면의 한계 경사에서 토목섬유에 유발되는 인장력을 기존에 제안된 해석해와 비교하여, 해석해의 정확도와 설계시 적용 가능성에 대하여 고찰하였다.

로지스틱회귀분석기법과 인공신경망기법을 이용한 제주지역 산사태가능성분석 (The Landslide Probability Analysis using Logistic Regression Analysis and Artificial Neural Network Methods in Jeju)

  • 본 연구에서는 제주지역의 산사태가능성을 분석하기 위하여 사람의 발길이 많은 사라봉, 별도봉 지역과 송악산 지역의 지형 및 토질공학적 사면 붕괴 유발 인자들을 이용하여 로지스틱회귀분석기법과 인공신경망기법을 GIS기법과 결합하여 예측지도를 작성하고 비교분석하였다. 산사태 예측지도를 작성하기 위해서 산사태 발생에 영향을 주는 사면경사, 고도, 건조밀도, 투수계수, 간극율을 선택하였으며 선정된 지역을 대상으로 실시한 야외조사와 토양물성시험 결과를 정리한 후 이를 토대로 GIS기법을 적용하여 각 레이어별 주제도를 작성하였다. 생성된 주제도를 각각 로지스틱회귀분석기법과 인공신경망기법으로 작성하여 비교분석한 결과 사면경사와 간극율의 경중률이 가장 높게 나타났고, 예측지도는 로지스틱회귀분석기법이 더욱 정확한 결과를 나타내었으며, 도로변과 산책로를 중심으로 산사태 발생가능성이 높게 분포하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

울릉도 북동부 지역의 낙석재해 위험도 평가 (Assessement of Rockfall Hazard in the Northeast Region of Ulleung-Do)

  • 울릉도는 강도가 약한 화산암과 강도는 높으나 수직절리가 잘 발달하는 조면암질암으로 구성되어 있으며, 이러한 지질학적 특성으로 인해 낙석이 빈번하게 발생하고 있어 일주도로의 이용에 큰 위험요소로 작용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 낙석 재해위험도가 높은 울릉도 북동부의 약 3 km 구간을 대상으로 3종류의 낙석재해 위험도 평가법을 이용하여 낙석재해 위험도 평가를 수행하고 재해도를 작성하였다. 사용된 평가표는 일본 도로방재 총점검에서 적용된 낙석위험도 조사표, 일본 고속도로조사회의 낙석위험도 평가표, 그리고 미국연방도로국의 RHRS (Rockfall Hazard Rating System)이다. 도로사면의 지형 지질학적 조건을 고려하여 27개 구간을 설정하여 평가한 결과, 20개 사면(약 74%)에서 낙석재해 위험도가 높음과 보통으로 평가되었다. 이러한 조사결과를 바탕으로 낙석재해 위험도를 작성하였다.

Evaluation of a Crank-type Walking Cultivator for Upland Farming

  • Purpose: This research was conducted to evaluate feasibility of a crank-type walking cultivators for weeding in furrowed upland. Methods: A walking cultivator developed by RDA was selected and evaluated with its working speed (S), cultivation depth (CD) and weeding performance (WP). The evaluation was performed in upland field on July and August, 2012. Also kinematic analysis of the machine was performed to draw out design improvements. Results: S in flat, uphill and downhill were about 0.11 m $s^{-1}$, 0.11 m $s^{-1}$, and 0.13 m $s^{-1}$ respectively. It was found that S had a low relevance with user conditions. The CD was 35 ~ 40 mm which was satisfied with the RDA guide for weeding machine. A wide variation was observed in values of WP depending on the growth stages of weeds and field conditions. The cultivator showed low performance in eliminating the well-grown weeds. Kinematic simulation revealed that high forward speed caused a high ratio of un-weeded area. Conclusions: The weeding performance of the cultivator was satisfactory for weeds in early growth stage but it showed difficulties in handling on up-slope and in entering up-land. Specifically, the weight of the cultivator was judged as overweight for female workers. The crank-hoe type cultivator was judged as unsuitable for small walking type machine due to weight of the four-bar linkage system. Kinematic analysis revealed that the ratio of crank speed to the ground speed must be 850 rpm s $m^{-1}$ (255 rpm based on 0.3 m $s^{-1}$) or greater to avoid uncultivated area. Selection of forward speed is a decisive factor in designing the weeding cultivator.

지하철역 캐노피의 설치현황에 따른 디자인 평가에 관한 연구 - 대구광역시 지하철역 캐노피를 대상으로 - (A Study on the Evaluation according to the Situation of Subway Station Canopy - Focused on the Subway Station in Daegu -)

  • This study is subway station canopy evaluation to improve the landscape of a street furniture design. From a survey of the professional abstracted the design elements of subway station canopy in Daegu. And then, it practiced a canopy design appreciation by the analysis of appreciation items. The results are as follows. First, this research analyzes each quality a classified by the four characteristics at the subway station. In general station case, the slope roof was consistent in used to be unified. If the symbol of the express station wasn't common in cross-section or material. In addition, the design evaluation in the lower canopy were evaluated. Therefore, in case of the city installed in the canopy, the characteristic of city gateway and the symbolic characteristic of a design that is required. Second, subway station canopy existed in widely opened site come out a lower rating about safety. Therefore, considering the safety light device or system need to do. Third, if the horizontal or sloping roof shape come out in a lower rating, the highly evaluated curve shape is considered to apply. Forth, a structure material of the canopy was highly evaluated the aluminum composite panels and structural steel pipes. Therefore, to improve a beauty of the city, to give rhythm to a structure material of the canopy of the aluminum composite panels and structural steel pipes will be desirable to use as the main ingredient.

Maxent 모형을 이용한 서식지 잠재력 평가 - 하천으로부터의 거리, 하천의 차수, 토지이용을 중심으로- (Habitat Potential Evaluation Using Maxent Model - Focused on Riparian Distance, Stream Order and Land Use -)

  • As the interest on biodiversity has increased around the world, researches about evaluating potential for habitat are also increasing to find and comprehend the valuable habitats. This study focus on comprehending the significance of stream in evaluating habitat's potential. The purpose of this study is to evaluate habitat potential with applying stream as a main variable, and to comprehend the relationship between the variables and habitat potential. Basin is a unit that has hydrological properties and dynamic interaction with ecosystem. Especially, biodiversity and suitability of habitat in basin area has direct correlation with stream. Existing studies also are proposing for habitat potential evaluation in basin unit, they applied forest, slope and road as main variables. Despite stream is considered the most important factor in basin area, researchers haven't applied stream as a main variable. Therefore, in this study, three variables that can demonstrate hydrological properties are selected, which are, riparian distance, stream order and land use disturbance, and evaluate habitat potential. Habitat potential is analyzed by using Maxent (Maximum entropy model), and vertebrate's presence data is used as dependent variables and stream order map and land cover map is used as base data of independent variables. As a result of analysis, habitat potential is higher at riparian and upstream area, and lower at frequently disturbed area. Result indicates that adjacent to stream, upstream, and less disturbed area is the habitat that vertebrate prefer. In particular, mammals prefer adjacent area of stream and forest and reptiles prefer upriver area. Birds prefer adjacent area of stream and midstream and amphibians prefer adjacent area of stream and upriver. The result of this research could help to establish habitat conservation strategy around basin unit in the future.
