  • Shrink fitting is often used to constrain a conventional mechanical fasteners and fastening methods with temperature difference. Localized heating of the mating surface provides temporary expansion and allows slip fit assembly. The resulting interference fit exhibits exceptional strength without surface deformation at ambient temperatures. We studied an analysing method to find out a deformation of motor axis as variation of constrained method with shrink fitting.

  • This paper presents a design of the controller for vehicle lateral dynamics using active yaw moment. Vehicle lateral motion is incorporated with directional controllability and stability. These are conflicting each other from the view of vehicle handling performance. To compromise the trade-off between these two aspects, we suggest a new control algorithm based on the sliding mode with time-varying switching surface according to the body side slip angle. The controller can deal with the nonlinear region in vehicle driving condition and be robust to the parameter uncertainties in the plant model. Control performance is evaluated from the simulation for the vehicle of real parameters on the road with various tire-road frictions.

  • The flash temperature distribution on the contact surfaces between cam and roller-follower mechanism was analysed numerically. The elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication pressure and film thickness were used to get the accurate analysis results. The temperature distribution was obtained by numerical integration by making use of Carslaw and Jaeger's formulation to the whole contact surfaces. The maximum flash temperature was increased with both the increasing slip ratio of the contact surface and increasing external load Profile of the temperature distribution was affected by the sliding velocity of the surface.

  • Recently, TCS(Traction Control System) is attracting attention, because it maintains traction ability and steerability of vehicles on low-$\mu$ surface roads by controlling the slip rate between tire and road surface. The development of TCS control law is difficult due to the highly nonlinearity and uncertainty involved in TCS. A fuzzy logic approach is appealing for TCS. In this paper, fuzzy logic controller for TCS is introduced and evaluated by the computer simulation with 8 DOF vehicle model. The result indicate that the fuzzy logic TCS improves vehicle's stability and steerability.

마하피닝 처리에 의한 기계구조용 합금강의 피로균열전파 지연효과 (Effect of mach peening treatment on fatigue crack growth retardation in structural steel alloy)

  • Mach peening treatment is one of the various kinds of techniques to improve the fatigue properties. The mach peening process gives high-level work hardening and compressive residual stress near the surface layer, improving the fatigue strength. In addition, this treatment reduces slip bands that initiate the fatigue cracks near the surface. During impingement, a plastic indentation surrounded by a plastic zone is formed. Mach peening treatment characteristic is less energy consumption and is an environmental friendly processing methods that is not accompanied by pollution. It is machining process that can prevent fatigue fracture beforehand in structure using already as well as process of production. The test results showed that fatigue crack propagation delay appeared by drilling type 43%, mach peening type 110%.

$ZnWO_4$ 단결정 성장 ($ZnWO_4$ Single Crystal Growth)

  • Single crystals of zinc tungstates were grown by the Czochralski method. To obtain the seed crystals various methods were employed including 4 points platinum wirse which dipped the melt and the capillary action from the melt led the 3 differently oriented seeds such as [100], [010] and [001] directions. Optimum growing conditions were observed as neck diameter 2mm rotation speed 50-60 rpm maximum diameter 15mm and pulling rate 0-10 mm/hr. Dendrites covered on the olidified surface in a platinum crucible were turned out to be [001] direction because obviously this crystal has the strong [001] preferential growth habit. The (100) and (010) planes of single crystals showed the slip planes and the (010) plane showed the perfect cleavage surface.

Numeric simulation of near-surface moisture migration and stress development in concrete exposed to fire

  • A methodology is presented for computing stresses in structural concrete members exposed to fire. Coupled heat and moisture migration simulations are used to establish temperature, pore pressure, and liquid-saturation state variables within near-surface zones of heated concrete members. Particular attention is placed on the use of coupled heat and multiphase fluid flow simulations to study phenomena such as moisture-clogging. Once the state variables are determined, a procedure for combining the effects of thermal dilation, mechanical loads, pore pressure, and boundary conditions is proposed and demonstrated. Combined stresses are computed for varying displacement boundary conditions using data obtained from coupled heat and moisture flow simulations. These stresses are then compared to stresses computed from thermal analyses in which moisture effects are omitted. The results demonstrate that moisture migration has a significant influence on the development of thermal stresses.

  • 결정입계를 갖는 $CaF_{2}$ 결정을 annealing할 때, 내부에 존재하는 bubbles의 거동을 결정학적으로 분석하였다. 이들 bubbles는 결정 내에서 일어나는 slip 현상처럼 $CaF_{2}$ 결정구조에 의존하여 특정한 방향으로 배향되어 있음이 확인되었다. 또한, AFM(atomic force microscope)으로 분석한 결과, 이들의 움직임은 negative grain growth에 의한 S-surface를 형성하고 있음이 관찰되었다.

  • 전자제어식 차동제한 장치는 기계식에 비해서 능동제어가 가능하고 응답성이 좋아 기계식을 대체해 나가고 있다. STS 304 재질의 코일 하우징은 전자제어식 차동제한장치의 솔레노이드 어셈블리에서 가장 중요한 부품이다. 코일 하우징의 제조시 높은 형상 정밀도가 필수적이나, STS 304의 박판 사용과 가공변수의 변동으로 정밀 가공이 어렵다. 본 연구의 목적은 코일하우징의 가공조건에서 강건해를 구하여 평균과 변동을 최적화 하는 것이다. 코일하우징의 형상정밀도 평균과 표준편차를 최소화 하기 위한 주요 변수로 조의 척킹압력, 절삭속도, 이송속도의 평균과 표준편차가 고려됐다. 가공변수의 변동을 고려하여 평균과 표준편차를 모두 최소화 하는 최적의 조건을 선정하고자 반응표면모델 기반 2차 테일러 전개를 통한 강건 최적설계를 수행하였다.
