Nonlinear dynamic analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) frame under earthquake loading is performed in this paper on the basis of a hysteretic moment-curvature relation. Unlike previous analytical moment-curvature relations which take into account the flexural deformation only with the perfect-bond assumption, by introducing an equivalent flexural stiffness, the proposed relation considers the rigid-body-motion due to anchorage slip at the fixed end, which accounts for more than 50% of the total deformation. The advantage of the proposed relation, compared with both the layered section approach and the multi-component model, may be the ease of its application to a complex structure composed of many elements and on the reduction in calculation time and memory space. Describing the structural response more exactly becomes possible through the use of curved unloading and reloading branches inferred from the stress-strain relation of steel and consideration of the pinching effect caused by axial force. Finally, the applicability of the proposed model to the nonlinear dynamic analysis of RC structures is established through correlation studies between analytical and experimental results.

The perfect and accurate methods to control the wear are not made clear so far. For this phenomenon only mating surface has been studied. In order to control the wear the essence of it has to be made clear. It is reported that adhesive wear might occure as a result of plastic deformation, the fracture and removal or transfer asperities on close contacting surfaces. On this view point the plastic flow was attempted to compare with fluid or electromagnetic flow. The partial differential equations of equilibrium for the plane strain deformation will make use of the method of characteristics. The characteristic curves or characteristics of the hyperbolic equation coincide with the slip lines by R. Hill's papers. By Hencky's stress equation, it is evident that if P and .phi. are prescribed for a boundary condition then it may be possible to proceed along constant .alpha. and .betha. lines to determine the value of the hydrostatic pressure everywhere in the slip line field net work. A wedge formation mechanism has been considered for an explanation of this matters. The analysis shows that there is a critical value, which depends on the hardness ratio and the shear stress on the interface, for the top angle of asperity is less than this critical value, the asperity can yield plastically despite of being harder than the mating surface.
The effect of manganese sulfide (MnS) inclusions on the machinability of free-cutting steel is based on their morphology, size and distribution. Furthermore, the plasticity of MnS is high during the hot working caused different characterization of MnS. In this study, the deformation behavior of MnS in 1215MS steel after a thermomechanical process was investigated at 1323 K. The microstructures of MnS inclusions were characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectrometry, and electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD). As the thickness reduction of the inclusions increased from 10 to 70%, their average aspect ratio increased from 1.20 to 2.39. In addition, the deformability of MnS inclusions was lower than that of the matrix. The possible slip systems of A, B, C, and D plane traces were (${\bar{1}}0{\bar{1}}$)[${\bar{1}}01$], ($10{\bar{1}}$)[101], (011)[$01{\bar{1}}$], and (110)[$1{\bar{1}}0$]. Furthermore, the EBSD measurements suggested that slip planes in MnS inclusions occur on {110} planes.
This paper presents mechanical analysis of gas turbine generator (113MVA, $3{\phi}$, 2P, 0.9PF, F class, 3600rpm, 60Hz, 13.8kV, 4.72kA, Air-Cooling) field coil deformation. Rotor end coil deformation is only appeared on turbine end but collector end coil is normal. Expansion direction of end coil is tangential not axial. Deformation appears more severe at top turn. Retaining ling is expanded by centrifugal force of coil and itself. In case friction coefficient between coil top surface and retaining ring insulation inner surface is small, coil end length ${\ell}$ does not change. However, in case friction coefficient big condition, coil end is expanded ${\Delta}{\ell}$ due to start and stop. Deformation is assumed about 30mm by watching photograph inner surface of retaining ring is coated by Teflon at manufacturing condition. Usually Teflon coating insulation surface is small friction coefficient. It's value 0.08${\sim}$0.15. However it's value exceeds more than 0.297. Since top turn deformation appears. The distortion and subsequent failure have occurred because of the lack of a sufficient slip-plane between the top field coil conductors and the inside surface of the retaining ring insulation on the turbine end of the field-winding.
Low temperature irradiation can significantly harden metallic materials and often lead to strain localization and ductility loss in deformation. This paper provides a review on the radiation effects on the deformation of metallic materials, focusing on microscopic and macroscopic strain localization phenomena. The types of microscopic strain localization often observed in irradiated materials are dislocation channeling and deformation twinning, in which dislocation glides are evenly distributed and well confined in the narrow bands, usually a fraction of a micron wide. Dislocation channeling is a common strain localization mechanism observed virtually in all irradiated metallic materials with ductility, while deformation twinning is an alternative localization mechanism occurring only in low stacking fault energy(SFE) materials. In some high stacking fault energy materials where cross slip is easy, curved and widening channels can be formed depending on dose and stress state. Irradiation also prompts macroscopic strain localization (or plastic instability). It is shown that the plastic instability stress and true fracture stress are nearly independent of irradiation dose if there is no radiation-induced phase change or embrittlement. A newly proposed plastic Instability criterion is that the metals after irradiation show necking at yield when the yield stress exceeds the dose-independent plastic instability stress. There is no evident relationship between the microscopic and macroscopic strain localizations; which is explained by the long-range back-stress hardening. It is proposed that the microscopic strain localization is a generalized phenomenon occurring at high stress.
The effects of thermomechanical treatments on microstructure and fatigue properties of 7050 Al alloy were investigated. The precipitation kinetics changed to a faster rate due to cold deformation employed in this special TAHA thermomechanical treatments including pre-aging, plastic deformation and two step final-aging. The G.P. zones in the under-aged condition were cut by dislocations and dissolved during the plastic deformation. During the low cycle fatigue, the T6' condition showed cyclic hardening behavior whereas the TMT5, TMT27 and T76 conditions showed cyclic softening at above 0.7% total strain amplitudes. The ${\Delta}K_{th}$ value of TMT27 was improved more than two times, compared with that of T76 condition. The T6' with small shearable precipitates resulted in the markedly high ${\Delta}K_{th}$ value. This is thought to be resulted from dislocation reversibility and roughness-induced crack closure due to planarity of slip.
The hardening and the constitutive equation based on the crystal plasticity are introduced for the numerical simulation of hemispherical sheet metal forming. For calculating the deformation and the stress of the crystal, Taylor's model of the crystalline aggregate is employed. The hardening is evaluated by using the Taylor factor, the critical resolved shear stress of the slip system, and the sum of the crystallographic shears. During the hemispherical forming process, the texture of the sheet metal is evolved by the plastic deformation of the crystal. By calculating the Euler angles of the BCC sheet, the texture evolution of the sheet is traced during the forming process. Deformation texture of the BCC sheet is represented by using the pole figure. The comparison of the strain distribution and punch force in the hemispherical forming process between the prediction using crystal plasticity and experiment shows the verification of the crystal plasticity-based formulation and the accuracy of the hardening and constitutive equation obtained from the crystal plasticity.
The effects of Cu-addition and die-upset temperature on the texture in the die-upset Nd-lean $Nd_xFe_{93.5-(x+y)}-Cu_yGa_{0.5}B_6$ (x = 9-12, y = 0-2) alloys were investigated. The die-upset Cu-containing Nd-lean $Nd_{12}Fe_{81.5-y}-Cu_yGa_{0.5}B_6$ (y = 1, 2) alloys showed a considerable texture. Texture in the Nd-lean alloys developed through basal plane slip deformation. The Cu-addition reduced the melting point of grain boundary phase facilitating grain gliding during the die-upsetting, and providing a greater chance for the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ grains to meet the deformation conditions. Die-upsetting at higher temperature facilitated grain gliding and plastic deformation, thus enhancing texture.
The formation of preferred orientations in the cold rolling texture of the Inconel 690 sheets was studied by the x-ray texture measurements and TEM observations. The increasing {220} pole intensity in the plane normal at the higher reductions was related to the {110}<112> texture component. The rolling texture of the Inconel 690 was the pure metal type which could be described by {112}<111>, {123}<634> and {110}<112> orientations. The dislocation cells were found in the near {110}<112> oriented grains. The onset of deformation twins in the {112}<111> oriented grains caused the weakening of {112}<111> and the development of {552}<115> in the rolling texture.
