  • In this study, static pile load tests with load transfer measurement were accomplished in the field. Yield pile capacity (or ultimate pile capacity) determined by load-settlement-time relationship was determined and axial load transfer behavior was analyzed. In the test for the four test piles were behaved as end bearing pile but ratios of skin friction to total pile capacity were 27%∼33%.

  • This paper describes the development of portable arousal measurement and analysis system. Skin impedance change which responds the change of arousal level was detected by the three electrode constant current method and separated into two components (SIR, SIL). Relationship between Nz, IRI and arousal level was studied and Criteria of arousal level control was decided by the sleep study.

  • We are designed to control the lipoid variation of the structure system with the stratum corneum on the skin. The skin structure is consisted of a morphology how to use the lipoid component, and the given skin structure is consisted of the mechanical shapes of the intercellular route and transcellular route, and is confirmed to control the variation state of the structure capacity. The skin impedance is appeared to result the value of measurement such as shapes of ${\lambda}-Lip-RSC$, ${\lambda}-Lip-RSL$, ${\lambda}-Lip-CSG$, ${\lambda}-Lip-CSS$ and ${\lambda}-Lip-RSB$. The condition is showed to the alteration difference value of the intercellular route and transcellular route. And, composition condition is established to separate the division parts for conversion system that is constructed with the alteration modeling. We will be possible to progress the improvement effectiveness of the continuous skin control system on the skin.

  • The surface modification and characterization of Ar-plasma treated polypropylene (PP) blend are investigated using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle measurement. An increase in Ar-plasma treatment time leads to an increase in wettability, oxygen containing polar functional groups, the amount of talc, and surface roughness on the PP blend surface. A careful observation using SEM indicates that there exists a skin layer consisting of only PP component. The difference in viscosity between PP and rubber particles facilities the formation of skin layer. However, it is found that an increase in Ar-plasma treatment time helps to decrease the thickness of skin layer. Additional methodologies for the elimination of skin layer during injection molding are also discussed. The surface modification and morphological alteration induced by Ar-plasma treatment provides a hydrophilic state, followed by the improvement in wettability, on the PP blend surface.

  • This study attempted to numerically verify specific effects on skin condition improvement by measuring and comparing changes in skin conditions such as pores, wrinkles, and sebum of LED masks for beauty devices with low output among light sources. 18 healthy women (4 weeks in the control group and 4 weeks in the experimental group) were conducted once a week for 8 weeks. As a result of measuring the skin condition of pores, wrinkles, and sebum, it was confirmed that the skin condition improved significantly as the LED irradiation progressed, and the difference between the groups by measurement period of the experimental group and the control group also showed significant differences in pores, wrinkles, and sebum (p< .001, p<.05). This is meaningful in that it can be presented as clinical information and quantitative data by preparing continuous data in an academic sense by proving the effect of improving the LED mask as a beauty device. It is also suggested that in the future, follow-up studies to prove more effective skin improvement will be conducted.

  • The skin is one of the largest organs in our body and participates in many of the human organism's physiological and pathological events. Skin function were known for self-maintenance and self-repair, mechanical and chemical stress protection, protection against UV and environmental pathogenic micro-organisms, production of vitamin D, and social and psychological function through the physical aspect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the variation of biophysical parameters and to find relation with skin biomarkers in different anatomical site and age in Korean women. About 70 healthy volunteers in age range 20 to 49 were participated in this test. Test areas were the forearms and the cheek. Investigation to determine biophysical parameters on human skin, was carried out using various non-invasive methods. For analysis to skin biomarkers, we studied to examine various biomarkers for the quantitative determination of cortisol, fibronectin, keratin-1, 10, and 11, involucrin, and keratin-6 in human face and forearm. And we measured to skin biophysical parameters for skin anatomical site and age difference with non-invasive methods. As results of measuring site, some parameters were have following significant difference, stratum corneum hydration, trans epidermal water loss and skin color (L and a value). As results of age difference, skin colors were had only significant difference with age. For cortisol, keratin-6, fibronectin, keratin-1, 10, 11 contents, there were no significant difference in age and site. However, involucrin level in the cheeks were the highest for age group 30 ~ 39 compared to other age groups. These results suggest that in individual skin condition may explain detailed skin state variation.

  • The purpose of this study was to conduct a subjective and objective evaluation to verify the improvements in acne skin conditions followed by the use of foam cleanser, skin toner, and a facial pack that contains bamboo vinegar. The research targets are 20 male and female high school students in Gwangju and Jeolla regions with acne skin of grade II and above based on the Korean Acne Grading System (KAGS). For the experiment, the subjects were classified between an experimental group with 10 subjects who used bamboo vinegar foam cleanser, skin toner, and facial pack and a control group with 10 subjects who used foam cleanser, skin toner, and facial pack without bamboo vinegar, and the subjects had to use the foam cleanser, skin toner, and facial pack for 12 weeks. In the case of skin improvement effects founded upon the objective measurement values, the experimental group showed a greater improvement for reducing the pores in the forehead, nose ridge, and left cheek (p<.001) compared to the control group, and the experiment group had higher satisfaction overall even for the skin improvement effects based on the subjective evaluation tool (p<.05, p<.001). The overall values of the satisfaction of the cosmetics showed that the experiment group had higher values (p<.01, p<.001) compared to the control group for the foam cleanser, skin toner, and facial pack, and there were statistically significant differences for usability in details (p<.01, p<.001). In conclusion, it was proven that bamboo vinegar is an effective natural cosmetic product material to improve acne skin conditions.

  • Pulse sensors generally have characteristics that cause a analytical error by the interference of signals according to tiny motion of body and pressure applied to skin. To resolve this problem, we implemented the sensor that is capable of simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG(photoplethymogram) in a state attached to skin. Pressure and PPG was recorded at the finger and wrist respectively to evaluate the usefulness of the implemented sensor. Then, it was observed that the shape of PPG from sensor changed by pressure pushing down skin. Results of this study suggested that it is possible to monitor a degree of skin pressurization and to guarantee a reliable measurement by simultaneously measuring pressure and PPG using implemented integrated sensor when measuring PPG on the wrist or the finger.

  • This paper presents a novel diagnostic method to determine Sasang Consitution (SC) by elasticity coefficient of hand dorsal skin of elderly people. For this purpose, we carried out a clinical test, in which Our SC diagnostic tool and one Oriental medical doctor with SC medicine expertise participated to categorize 458 healthy subjects into four constitutions. After excluding heavy-noise, we extracted 295 subjects' elasticity coefficient feature data and statistically analyzed their SC relevance with ANOVA test. It resulted in that, Taeum-in has high elasticity coefficient compared to Soeum-in in a significance level of 0.05. There are no differences of elasticity coefficient in genders. This result is supported by the theory of Longevity and Life Preservation in Eastern Medicine(Donguisusebowon, 동의수세보원) which suggested that Taeum-in's flesh is solid and Soeum-in's one is tender. This is the first work which reports the relatedness of skin elasticity coefficient and SC by an objective clinical test.
