영·유아의 입사피부선량 측정을 위한 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 (Monte Carlo Simulation for the Measurement of Entrance Skin Dose on Newborn and Infants)

  • 성인과 달리 영 유아에게 행해지는 방사선 검사 시 투여되는 방사선량의 평가는 활발하게 이루어지지 않고 있다. 따라서 영 유아의 방사선 검사 시 피폭되는 정도를 나타내는 지표로서 입사피부선량을 측정하고 Geant4를 이용한 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통한 결과값을 비교하여 입사피부선량 측정의 재현성을 높이고 다양한 지오메트리 구현의 가능성을 증명하였다. 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 결과값은 입사피부선량을 선량보정을 위한 정규인자를 통해 추정하였고 단위 X선 조사영역크기로 표준화한 결과 영 유아에게 있어 일회의 방사선 촬영 당 평균 입사피부선량은 $78.41{\mu}Gy$ 였으며 선량계를 통한 측정값과 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션값의 백분율 오차는 최대 -4.77%로 나타났다. 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통한 입사피부선량 평가 방법은 의료기관에서 실제 진단을 위해 내원한 환아를 대상으로 한 입사피부선량 평가의 어려움을 대체할만한 수단으로서의 가능성을 보여준다.

A Study on the Skin Irritation Toxicity Test of Processed Sulfur in New Zealand White Rabbit

  • Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate the skin irritation toxicity of processed sulfur. Methods: All experiments were conducted at Medvill (Korea), an institution authorized to perform non-clinical studies, under the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations. In order to investigate skin irritation toxicity of processed sulfur, we divided the back of six rabbits into two control sites and two test sites. One of each of the two control and test sites was then designated abraded sites and intact sites. In test sites, 0.5 g of processed sulfur was applied to the back of the rabbit for 24 hours, and in control sites, 0.5 g of sterile distilled water was applied in the same way. We observed and evaluated mortality, weight, general symptoms, and skin irritation toxicity. This study was conducted with the approval of the Animal Ethics Committee (Approval number: IAC2020-1549). Results: In all experiments, no dead animals were observed. In all cases, skin coloration was observed at 24 hours after processed sulfur administration. This coloration lasted up to 48 hours and is believed to be the effect of the administration of test substances. Weight measurement indicated that weight was lost 72 hours after administration in three cases, but this is considered an accidental weight change. Normal weight gain was observed in the remaining subjects. In all animals, no skin irritation toxicity was observed, and the primary irritation index (P.I.I) was calculated as 0.0 according to Draize's evaluation method. Conclusion: The above findings suggest that it is relatively safe to apply a processed sulfur to the skin. Further research on this topic is needed to provide more specific evidence.

회전 브러시를 이용한 클렌징 기기의 효과 (The Efficacy of Cleansing Device with a Rotating Brush on the Skin)

  • 최근 화장품을 사용하는 인구가 증가함에 따라 세안의 중요성도 강조되고 있다. 회전 브러시를 이용한 세안은 이전부터 산업계에서 적용되어 온 방법이나, 국내 문헌상 회전 브러시를 이용한 클렌징 기기의 세정효과에 대한 연구가 보고된 바가 없는 실정이다. 본 연구는 회전 브러시를 장착한 클렌징 기기인 PBRCF1201(Amorepacific Co., Korea)에 대한 세정력과 피부상태 개선효과에 대한 실험 결과를 보고한다. 총 20명의 환자가 참여하였으며, PBRCF1201를 사용하기 전 블랙헤드, 세정력(피부 밝기), 피부 각질, 모공, 유분함유량에 대해 측정을 하였고 시험제품을 1회 사용하게 한 후 동일한 항목을 측정하였다. 평가 대상 부위는 얼굴과 전박부를 대상으로 하였다. 그 결과 클렌징 젤을 단독으로 사용할 때보다 클렌징 젤과 클렌징 기기를 사용하였을 때 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타내며 더 좋은 세정력을 나타냈으며 피부 각질, 블랙헤드, 유분 함유량, 모공 개수 역시 감소하였다. 결론적으로 회전 브러시를 장착한 클렌징 기기는 피부에 손상이나 건조를 유발시키지 않는 효과적인 세안방법이라고 생각된다.

  • This paper is the study of the reflectance of light from biological tissue for red and Infrared wavelengths and relates the acquired reflectance data to expected physiological changes within the skin and muscle layers associated with heat and exercise. The instrument was disigned to collect data from the calf muscle in human subjects with probe located at the surface of skin. Rapid data acquisition method allowed monitoring of rapid changes in reflecttance due to a stimulus. This study demonstrates that changes in O2 saturation and blood fractional volume expected within the dermis and muscle layers were asserted by examining the slopes of the plotted index for heat and exercise. The results presented in thls study support the claim that reflectance can separately discriminate between changes of blood volume and oxygenation in muscle and in skin. The data demonstrate the ability to measure consistent changes In tissue optical properties during exercise and heat.

RADIOAUTOGRAPHIC AND HISTOLOGIC INVESTIGATION OF SKIN IN YOUNG AND OLD FROGS

  • Age differences in the skin structure have been studied in young (one year-old) and aged (five and a half year-old) frogs, Xenopus laevis. The epidermis in young frogs is made up of an average of 6.3 and 4.7 layers of epithelial cells at abdominal and dorsal surfaces, respectively. In aged frogs, the number of respective cell layers at abdominal and dorsal surfaces increases to 8.8 and 5.6. The thickness of the dermis (spongiosum) in aged frogs is decreased 25% on the abdominal side (from 267㎛ to 207㎛) but is increased by 11 % on the dorsal side (from 275㎛ to 305㎛). The nucleolar index and ³H-uridine incorporation, as judged by radioautography, by epithelial cells are drastically reduced in aged frogs.

작업복 소재 직물의 액상 수분 전달 특성 및 표면특성 연구 (Liquid Moisture Management and Surface Properties of the Fabric in Transient Condition)

  • As important factors determining human sensorial comfort, liquid moisture management and surface properties of heat resistant workwear materials were examined. To figure out liquid moisture management properties of the test materials, absorption capacity, rate of absorption, and evaporation properties were assessed. A modified GATS(Gravimetric Absorbency Testing System) was used to measure the liquid moisture accumulation associated with the wicking of liquid moisture from sweating skin. The GATS procedure measures demand wettability of materials to take up liquid in a direction perpendicular to the fabric surface and it was modified to incorporate a special test cell and cover to assess absorption behavior in the presence of evaporation. Fabric stiffness, smoothness, number and the length of surface fibers, and an estimate of the contact area between the skin and fabric surface were measured to characterize the mechanical and surface properties of the test materials. Also an estimate of the force with which a fabric clings to moist skin was made using as wet-cling index.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the skin irritation toxicity of Syndella gel, a combination topical drug containing a deproteinised dialysate of calf's blood and micronomicin sulfate in the ratio of 20 to 1, in New Zealand White rabbits. In the primary skn irritation test with male New Zealand White rabbits, there was no treatment-related effect on clinical sign, nd body weight was not significantly changed. The Primary Irritation index (PII) was 0.33, indicating that Syndella gel was a mildly irritating formulation.

  • In this paper, the optimal design of composite rotor blade cross-section is performed using a genetic algorithm. Skin thickness, torsion box thickness and skin lay-up angle are adopted as discrete design variables. The position and width of a torsion box are considered as continuous variables. An object function of optimal design is to minimize the mass of a rotor blade, and constraints are failure index, center mass, natural frequency and blade minimum mass per unit length. Finally, design variables such as the thickness and lay-up angles of a skin, and the thickness, position and width of a torsion box are determined by using an in-house program developed for the optimal design of rotor blade cross-section.

  • 교통사고의 가장 큰 원인 중의 하나는 운전자의 각성수준의 저하이다. 적절한 각성수준을 갖는 운전자 만이 자동차를 안전하게 운전하여 목적지에 도착할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 운전자의 각성도를 측정하기 위하여 피부 임피던스를 이용한 측정 시스템을 구성하고 이를 이용하여 6인의 피검자의 피부 임피던스의 변화와 뇌파를 동시에 측정하여 각성수준의 변화에 따른 세 측정 요소간의 상관관계를 검토하고 피부임피던스 지표를 구하였으며 측정에 따른 문제점들을 분석하여 운전자의 각성도 측정 및 평가와 모니터 개발을 위한 기초적인 연구를 하였다.
