This paper deals with the analytical model of an elastic porous material in sound transmission loss of a double panel with fiber glasses. From the parametric analysis, it is concluded that the boundary condition, which is concerned to the contact between the skin panel and core materials, does not have much influence on sound transmission loss of a double panel with fiber glasses, and material properties of the porous material become, however, important factors to mass-spring-mass resonance. The comparisons of the prediction with the measurement of sound transmission loss of walls show good agreement between the two values.
The reduction of $CO_2$ emissions has been a key target in the Marine Industry since the IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee published its findings in 2009. The representative emission index is termed as the EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) for the new ships. Among various flow control techniques ever proposed, the air lubrication method is the one of most promising one in terms of practical applicability. The present study examines the basic characteristics of the flat plate test with intention of applying the air lubrication technology to the reduction of the resistance of a ship. Image analysis technique is proposed as a tool to quantify the effectiveness of the air lubrication method.

Micro-molded parts can be defined as parts with microgram weight, parts with micro-structured surface, and parts with micro-precision. In this study, various micro-scale molded parts for various polymers were produced by using a precision micro-molding machine. Molded parts with nano-structure surface were also produced to analyze the effect of molding conditions on replication of surface pattern and higher-order structure development of molded parts. Replication of molded parts was influenced by material properties, molding conditions and size of surface pattern. Higher-order structure of molded parts was investigated by using polarized microscope. Skin-shear-core regions inside the molded parts were observed and shear region affected to surface replication.
High modulus pitch based carbon fibers (HM) were exposed to isothermal oxidation using tube furnace in carbon dioxide gas to study the oxidation kinetics under the temperature of $800-1100^{\circ}C$. The kinetic equation $f=1-{\exp}(-at^b)$ was introduced and the constant b was obtained in the range of 1.02~1.42. The oxidation kinetics were evaluated by the reaction-controlling regime (RCR) depending upon the apparent activation energies with the conversion increasing from 0.2 to 0.8. The activation energies decrease from 24.7 to 21.0 kcal/mole with the conversion increasing from 0.2 to 0.8, respectively. According to the RCR, the reaction was limited by more diffusion controlling regime for the HM fibers with the conversion increasing. Therefore, it seems that the oxidation which is under the diffusion controlling regime takes place continuously from the skin to the core of the fiber.
It is well known that making electric motors is very difficult in chapter 2, "Electric Current and Magnetic Field", natural science textbook 6-1 in primary school. In the present paper, we propose a new and successful method for making them. The most important point is that iron cores are not used in making electromagnets. This resolves the problem that both poles of electromagnet can be attracted by any pole of permanent magnet because of iron core in the electromagnet. The thick enamel wire is used as arms of armature so that they can support the electromagnet stably and we can reliably strip off the skin of the enamel wires, completely for one end and half for the other end of the enamel wires coming from the electromagnet. In addition, we suggest the ring-type support made of aluminum foil and the M-shaped support made of thick enamel wire that can substitute for the M-shaped copper wire support for armature. armature.

A typical honeycomb sandwich panel consists of two thin, high-strength facings bonded to a thick, light-weight core. Each component by itself is relatively weak and flexible, but when it combined in a sandwich panel they produce a structure that is stiff, strong, and lightweight. To prove the suitability the honeycomb sandwich structure with prepreg, the mechanical properties of the skin materials and honeycomb sandwich structure were evaluated with the static strength tests. Accordingly, the honeycomb sandwich structure made by autoclave process is available for a panel on LCD/PDP assembly line.
Microjet flows are often encountered in many industrial applications of micro-electro-mechanical systems as well as in medical engineering fields such as a transdermal drug delivery system for needle-free injection of drugs into the skin. The Reynolds numbers of such microjets are usually several orders of magnitude below those of larger-scale jets. The supersonic microjet physics with these low Reynolds numbers are not yet understood to date. Computational modeling and simulation can provide an effective predictive capability for the major features of the supersonic microjets. In the present study, computations using the axisymmetic, compressible, Navier-Stokes equations are applied to understand the supersonic microjet flow physics. The pressure ratio of the microjets is changed to obtain both the under- and over-expanded flows at the exit of the micronozzle. Sonic and supersonic microjets are simulated and compared with some experimental results available. Based on computational results, two microjets are discussed in terms of total pressure, jet decay and supersonic core length.
Antioxidative ability of anthocyanins in water-in-oil microemulsion was examined. Microemulsion was prepared by solubilizing crude anthocyanins extracted from grape skin (Cambell early) in organic solvent (hexane) containing anionic surfactant [bis (2-ethylhexyl) sodium sulfosuccinate, AOT] and linolenic acid (10%, w/v). Lipid oxidation significantly decreased with increasing concentration of anthocyanins ($5-20\;{\mu}M$) at micellar phase, and increasing micelle size ($Wo=5-20\;{\mu}M$). At given micelle size (Wo=10), lipid oxidation decreased as number of micelles decreased. These results indicate antioxidative ability of anthocyanins is critically affected by water core and micelle structure formed by surfactant. Interactions between AOT and anthocyanins decreased antioxidative ability of anthocyanins. Antioxidative ability of anthocyanins significantly increased when ${\alpha}$-tocopherol was added into organic phase. This indicates of synergism between the two antioxidants.
The planarized $SiO_2$ particles were prepared by two-step reduction method of making much smaller particles, micron-sized ones, to improve spreadability, adherence, and smoothness. Various pigments known as flaky extender usually have terrace layers on their surfaces, but $SiO_2$ particles in this study exhibit a smooth surface structure. These single $SiO_2$ particles were used as core particles to prepare the composite particles coated with ultra fine $TiO_2$ particles by a homogeneous precipitation method. The thickness and the morphology of the deposited $TiO_2$ layers could be modified by adjusting the reactant concentrations, the reaction time and the temperature. The characteristics of $SiO_2/TiO_2$ composite in the field of color cosmetics are to give an UV-cut effect and to enhance the chroma of human skin color, one of optical properties.
