Data multicasting from a source to multiple sinks in wireless sensor networks is used to achieve both reducing communication costs and energy efficiency. Almost all existing schemes for the multicasting might be effectively performed by optimal construction of a multicasting tree between a source and multiple stationary sinks. However, in practical sensor applications, sinks could move around on the wireless sensor networks for own missions, such as scouting of soldiers and saving lives of victims by firefighters. Unfortunately, the sink mobility causes frequent entire reconstruction of the multicasting tree and thus it leads to exhaustion of battery power of sensors. Hence, we propose an energy-efficient multicast protocol to support multiple mobile sinks by the local multicast tree reconstruction, called Local Update-based geographic Multicasting for Mobile sinks (LUMM) for wireless sensor networks. Our simulation results show that our scheme for mobile sinks is more efficient in terms of energy resource management than other exist works.
Recently, sink mobility has been shown to be highly beneficial in improving network lifetime in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Numerous studies have exploited mobile sinks (MSs) to collect sensed data in order to improve energy efficiency and reduce WSN operational costs. However, there have been few studies on the effectiveness of MS operation on WSN closed operating cycles. Therefore, it is important to investigate how data is collected and how to plan the trajectory of the MS in order to gather data in time, reduce energy consumption, and improve WSN network lifetime. In this study, we combine two methods, the cluster-head election algorithm and the MS trajectory optimization algorithm, to propose the optimal MS movement strategy. This study aims to provide a closed operating cycle for WSNs, by which the energy consumption and running time of a WSN is minimized during the cluster election and data gathering periods. Furthermore, our flexible MS movement scenarios achieve both a long network lifetime and an optimal MS schedule. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm achieves better performance than other well-known algorithms.
Load balancing is a significant technique to prolong a network's lifetime in sensor network. This paper introduces a hybrid approach named as Load Distributing Hybrid Routing Protocol (LDHRP) composed with a border node routing protocol (BDRP) and greedy forwarding (GF) strategy which will make the routing effective, especially in mobility scenarios. In an existing solution, because of the high network complexity, the data delivery latency increases. To overcome this limitation, a new approach is proposed in which the source node transmits the data to its respective destination via border nodes or greedily until the complete data is transmitted. In this way, the whole load of a network is evenly distributed among the participating nodes. However, border node is mainly responsible in aggregating data from the source and further forwards it to mobile sink; so there will be fewer chances of energy expenditure in the network. In addition to this, number of hop counts while transmitting the data will be reduced as compared to the existing solutions HRLBP and ZRP. From the simulation results, we conclude that proposed approach outperforms well than existing solutions in terms including end-to-end delay, packet loss rate and so on and thus guarantees enhancement in lifetime.

In wireless sensor networks, data dissemination protocols have been proposed for mobile sink groups that are characterized by geographically staying closely and collective movement. They usually exploit flooding technology for mobility supporting and data delivery guarantee. However, it causes the excessive energy consumption of all sensor nodes in the group region due to data delivery participation. Moreover, the costs of the flooding would become higher in proportional to the group region. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient data dissemination scheme that resolves these problems. The virtual infrastructure called a 'pipe' is used as a rendezvous area. A source delivers data to the pipe, from which member sinks in the group retrieve it directly. Simulation results showed that this solution has better performance than existing protocols in terms of energy consumption as it reduces the number of regional flooding and eliminates unnecessary data flooding.
Mobile Sensor Network(MSN) is actively studied due to the advent of mobile sensors such as Robomote and Robotic Sensor Agents(RSAs), However, existing studies on MSN have mainly focused on coverage hole problem which occurs in Stationary Sensor Network(SSN). To address coverage hole problem, these studies make mobile sensors move temporarily so that they do not make the best use of the mobility of mobile sensors, Thus, a mechanism utilizing the continuous movement of mobile sensors is proposed to improve the network coverage performance. However, this mechanism is presently immature and does not explain how to make routing path and send data from mobile sensors to a sink node, Therefore, to efficiently make routing path and send data from mobile sensors to a sink node, we propose a communication protocol for mobile sensor network where mobile sensors continuously move. The proposed protocol deploys not only mobile sensors but also stationary sensors which send sensing data to a sink node instead of mobile sensors. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol improves the performance in terms of network coverage and traffic overhead, compared to conventional SSN protocols.

The research on multipath routing has been studied to solve the problem of frequent path breakages due to node and link failures and to enhance data delivery reliability in wireless sensor networks. In the multipath routing, mobile sinks such as soldiers in battle fields and rescuers in disaster areas bring about new challenge for handling their mobility. The sink mobility requests new multipath construction from sources to mobile sinks according to their movement path. Since mobile sinks have continuous mobility, the existing multipath can be exploited to efficiently reconstruct to new positions of mobile sinks. However, the previous protocols do not address this issue. Thus, we proposed an efficient multipath reconstruction protocol called LGMR for mobile sinks in wireless sensor networks. The LGMR address three multipath reconstruction methods based on movement types of mobile sinks: a single hop movement-based local multipath reconstruction, a multiple hop movement-based local multipath reconstruction, and a multiple hop movement-based global multipath reconstruction. Simulation results showed that the LGMR has better performance than the previous protocol in terms of energy consumption and data delivery delay.

Nowadays, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) comprise a tremendously growing infrastructure for monitoring the physical or environmental conditions of objects. WSNs pose challenges to mitigating energy dissipation by constructing a reliable and energy saving network. In this paper, we propose a novel network construction and routing method by defining three different duties for sensor nodes, that is, node gateways, cluster heads, and cluster members, and then by applying a hierarchical structure from the sink to the normal sensing nodes. This method provides an efficient rationale to support the maximum coverage, to recover missing data with node mobility, and to reduce overall energy dissipation. All this should lengthen the lifetime of the network significantly.

We report a new excimer laser annealing method which successfully results in a single grain boundary formation in the channel of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor. The proposed method is based on lateral grain growth and employs aluminum patterns which act as selective beam mask and lateral heat sink. The maximum grain size obtained by the proposed method is about 1.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in the length. The grainboundaries should be arranged parallel with the direction of current flow for the best device performance, so we propose a new device fabrication method and a new poly-Si TFT structure. Poly-Si TFT fabricated by the proposed method exhibits considerably improved electrical characteristics, such as high field effect mobility exceeding 240 $cm^2$/Vsec.

Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPLs) in Internet of Things (IoT) is currently one of the most popular wireless technologies for sensor communication. RPLs are typically designed for specialized applications, such as monitoring or tracking, in either indoor or outdoor conditions, where battery capacity is a major concern. Several routing techniques have been proposed in recent years to address this issue. Nevertheless, the expansion of the network lifetime in consideration of the sensors' capacities remains an outstanding question. In this research, aANN-CUCKOO based optimization technique is applied to obtain a more efficient and dependable energy efficient solution in IOT-RPL. The proposed method uses time constraints to minimise the distance between source and sink with the objective of a low-cost path. By considering the mobility of the nodes, the technique outperformed with an efficiency of 98% compared with other methods. MATLAB software is used to simulate the proposed model.

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) where deployed sensors are not stationary, the most important demand of is to design a cost effective and reliable network. This paper proposes an energy aware network construction and routing scheme, which is based on the hierarchical approach to distribute the task in some sensors in order to prolong the network lifetime. It aims to make even the energy consumption on constitute nodes. With the node hierarchy, the sink initiates the construction by electing gateway nodes in the network and the elected gateway nodes participate to form logical clusters by electing a cluster head in each cluster. Then, the cluster heads aggregate data from the sensing sensors and transmit the data to the sink through the gateway. Our simulation result illustrates that the proposed scheme provides a basement to reduce the source of energy dissipation in network construction, and as well as in data routing.
