  • In order to overcome the demerit and to improve the operation characteristics of Moving Coil type Linear Oscillatory Actuator(MC-LOA) with single-pole permanent magnet, this paper presents two models having the balanced magnetic circuit by multi-pole permanent magnet. They are short coil type with two-pole single-sided and two-ple double-sided permanent magnet. The characteristics between single-pole and multi-pole permanent magnet type MC-LOA are compared. As a result, multi-pole type MC-LOA has more merits than single-pole type about operation characteristics improvement and machine volume. The characteristics analysis is performed by their dynamic analysis composed of kinetic and electric equations and Finite Element Method(FEM). The propriety of multi-pole type MC-LOA model is verified with analysis results.

  • The salient pole rotor type single phase SRM has a salient pole in the rotor in order to use axial direction fluxes and radial direction fluxes simultaneously. A flux linkage between the rotor and the stator are increased because of the salient pole in the rotor. But, the inductance at unaligned position and aligned position is increased together. Therefore, the length of pole are and salient pole should be selected that the inductance increment at aligned position is higher than the inductance increment at unaligned position. On this paper, we will be studied the influence of the pole arc and the salient pole length on the torque of the salient pole rotor type single phase SRM.

  • Because salient pole rotor type single phase SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) has a simple structure and can be use both radial and axial direction magnetic flux at the same time, its output power per unit volume is high. Therefore, the shaft length can be minimized when compared with same output motors. However, salient pole rotor is hard to design due to its complex magnetic circuit. In this paper, salient pole rotor type single phase SRM with minimized shaft length is designed and selected the most suitable dimension of rotor, stator, pole arc and salient pole.

  • An analysis is developed for the torque characteristics of single-phase induction motors having variable shaded-pole angles. The machanism have two sets of stator windings which one set of stator fed from single-phase sources and other shorted by inserted external impedances. Thus, by phisically rotating one set of stator windings with respect to the other, the only shaded-kpole effect torque performance of a single- phase induction machine and its performance prediction to be expected of the optimum shaded-pole angle can be achieved.

  • The single phase switched reluctance motor(SRM) is more simpler and robust in the structure than poly phase SRM. It has the merits that it reduces the switching elements and the energy density per volume is very high. Recently, it has been researched and developed in various types and starting method due to the technique of power electronics and the computer added design. The single phase SRM is tried to apply to many industrial appliance field to substitutethe the induction motor by the single phase SRM. On the previous studies, we decided the design parameters of the single phase SRM for the blower driver to adapt the design method of the conventional machine and the poly phase SRM. In this studies, it is proposed the conditions to decide the optimal pole arcs because the stator and rotor pole arcs is very important in the characteristics of the single phase SRM. For this reason, it is analysed the characteristics of current on/off angle vs. pole arc, pole arcs vs. average torque.

  • Salient pole rotor type single phase switched reluctance motor is of simple and rigid structure, short shaft and simple driving circuit. Especially, the output power per unit volume of salient pole rotor structure is comparatively high because the magnetic fluxes of axial and radial direction are simultaneously used. Therefore, this motor will be used at small space and difficult maintenance situations. In this paper, the selecting method of proper pole arc, stator, and rotor dimension of salient pole rotor type single phase SRM is proposed.

  • The single phase switched reluctance motor has been studied and developed actively in the various applications with several kinds and forms because of the developments of the design technique by using the computer and of the driving technique power electronic technology, which has the merits of a simple and robust structure, and first of all reducing the number of the switching devices in comparison with poly phase switched reluctance motor. And also, the studies are making progess to substitute the switched reluctance motor for single phase induction motor. In the previous studies, the single phase switched reluctance motor for the drive of blower is designed with the design theory of the conventional rotating electric machine and poly phase switched reluctance motor. In this paper, we intend to select the optimal pole arc and pole pitch ratio by the FEM analysis, because the pole arc and pole pitch are very important factor to determine the characteristics of switched reluctance motor.

  • Capacitor-run single-phase induction motor is cheaper than motors that use permanent magnets and is widely used in home appliances and industries based on relatively high durability and productivity. It can also be operated by line. However speed cannot be controlled because the line frequency is free. In this paper we dealt pole change method one of the method controlling speed of capacitor-run single-phase induction motor. The conventional pole change method is difficult to improve the power and efficiency of the motor because the composition of the pole change device is complex and do not have enough area of the windings because of windings not used according to the driving conditions. In this paper, we proposed the pole change method that is used main windings and auxiliary windings at 4 poles operation and used auxiliary windings as compensation windings at 2 poles operation. The proposed method was verified through finite element analysis.

  • This paper deals with operation characteristics of a written-pole motor (WPM), having that of a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor and induction motor at once. The WPM also has a magnet layer on the surface of the rotor and the exciter pole that is a device to make the magnet layer magnetized during the operation. This study, introducing a fundamental structure and operation characteristics of a single-phase WPM, proposes a initial design method. With those ground, a 130W, single-phase WPM that is designed for a home appliance is presented and verified with a performance through the experiment.

  • A pole-placement control of discrete, deterministic, single-input single-output nonmini-mum phase systems is considered using a model reference type approach. The proposed pole-placement controller is designed in the parameter form to make the transfer function of the controller equal to that of the reference model with only single variable polynomial S(q-1). The proposed adaptive pole-placement controllr is designed with the true system para-meters by applying the adaptation method to the proposed pole-placement controller.
