가로수 조성 유형에 따른 비용편익 비교 분석 (Cost-Benefit Analysis for Planting Type of Street Trees)

  • The objective of this study is to estimate the cost and benefits of street trees for their planting types, specifically, single row, single row+bottom, double row, double row+bottom. Different planting types are compared and analyzed by using Net Present Value (NPV) and benefit-cost ratio (BCR). Existing data are collected from the literature reviews for the use of meta-analysis method for estimating cost and benefit. The elements for analyzing costs are management and planting costs, and benefits are air purification, energy saving and landscape view. The discount rate is applied at a minimum of 3% and a maximum of 5.5%. The unit used in this calculation is km/year. The result shows that the net benefit is highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR is the highest in double row, followed by single row, double row+bottom, and single row+bottom. The BCR reaches the break-even point from 9 to 17 years depending on the planting types.

  • Successful treatment of a badly broken down tooth with pulpal disease depends not only on good endodontic therapy, but also on good prosthetic reconstruction of the tooth after endodontic therapy is completed. The ideal treatment of endodontically treated teeth has been widely and controversially discussed. Endocrown is a restorative option for endodontically treated teeth. Endocrown design incorporates the core and short post into the crown as a single restoration. The preparation of endocrown consists of a circular equigingival butt-joint margin and central retention cavity of the entire pulp chamber instead of employing intraradicular posts. This design significantly increases the surface area of the preparation available for cementation. It is particularly useful in young patient teeth for long-term provisional restoration and in teeth with short clinical crowns. This technique represents a promising and conservative method for the treatment of endodontically treated teeth that require long-term protection and stability. Endocrown can be considered as a feasible alternative to full crowns or composite overlays for the restoration of non vital teeth.

  • WDM is an incredibly promising technique in which multiple channels are operated along a single fiber, providing the facilities of terabit per second bandwidth. Thus, the survivability of WDM networks becomes critical for the success of the next generation internet architecture. Despite the fact that the path-based proactive restoration scheme guarantees 100% restoration as it computes a backup light path while the primary light path is being set up, this method results in additional capacity consumption. In this paper, an ideal technique is proposed that modifies the active multi-backup paths method and results in a better restoration scheme. Based on a theoretical analysis, a new method is shown to reduce the number of hopes as well as the restoration time.

Occlusion Restoration of Synthetic Stereomate for Remote Sensing Imagery

  • Stereoscopic viewing is an efficient technique for not only computer vision but also remote sensing applications. Generally, stereo pair obtained at the same time is necessary for 3D viewing, but it is possible to synthesize a stereomate suitable for stereo view with a single image and disparity-map. There have been researches concerning the generation of the synthetic stereomate from remote sensing imagery. However it is hard to find researches concerning the restoration of occlusion in stereomate. In this paper, we generated synthetic stereomates from remote sensing images, focused on the occlusion restoration. In order to figure out proper restoration methods depending on the spatial resolution of remote sensing imagery, we tested several methods including general interpolation and inpainting technique, then evaluated the results.

GPU를 이용한 선형 스크래치 탐지와 복원 알고리즘의 설계 (Design of Line Scratch Detection and Restoration Algorithm using GPU)

  • 본 논문은 화소 데이터의 비교를 이용한 단일 프레임 또는 연속 프레임에 나타나는 선형 스크래치를 탐지하여 복원하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 스크래치탐지와 복원방법은 프레임 간 많은 비교 연산시간을 필요로 하며 병렬처리 가능성이 높다. 제안하는 스크래치 탐지와 복원방법은 빠른 처리를 위해 GPU에서 수행할 수 있도록 병렬 설계 하였다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 국가 기록원 디지털화 영상에 대해 순차처리와 병렬처리의 성능 테스트를 수행하였다. 실험에서 연속한 스크래치를 고려하는 경우의 탐지율은 단일 프레임만 고려하는 방법보다 20% 이상 성능이 향상되었다. GPU 기반 알고리즘의 탐지율과 복원율은 CPU 기반의 알고리즘과 유사하였으나 50배 이상의 연산속도가 향상되었다.

Anterolateral thigh free flaps and radial forearm free flaps in head and neck reconstruction: A 20-year analysis from a single institution

  • Background Reconstruction after removal of a malignant tumor in the head and neck region is crucial for restoring tissue integrity, function, and aesthetics. We retrospectively analyzed patients who underwent intraoral reconstruction surgery using radial forearm free flaps (RFFF) and anterolateral thigh free flaps (ALT) at a single institution to provide more information supporting the choice of a reconstruction method after removal of head and neck cancer. Methods The charts of 708 patients who underwent head and neck reconstruction between 1998 and 2018 at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at our institution were retrospectively reviewed. Patients' age, sex, and history of radiation therapy, diabetes mellitus, and smoking were retrieved. The primary cancer site, types of defects, and complications were investigated. Results Overall, 473 and 95 patients underwent reconstruction surgery with RFFF and ALT, respectively. RFFF was more often used in patients with cancers of the pharynx, larynx, esophagus, or tonsil, while ALT was more frequently used in patients with cancers of the mouth floor with tonsil or tongue involvement. The proportion of patients undergoing ALT increased gradually. Flap failure and donor site morbidities did not show significant differences between the two groups. Conclusions RFFF and ALT flaps resulted in similar outcomes in terms of flap survival and donor site morbidity. ALT can be an option for head and neck reconstruction surgery in patients with large and complex defects or for young patients who want to hide their donor site scars.

MINI ONGOING IMPLANT TO REPLACE ANTERIOR SINGLE MISSING TOOTH WITH LIMITED SPACE: A CLINICAL REPORT

  • For a missing teeth, orthodontic treatment may be a better choice of treatment in comparison to a conventional prosthetic replacement such as FPD, resin bonded prosthesis in view of aesthetics, periodontal health and function. Occasionally after an orthodontic treatment, an insufficient space may occur. The mini-implant could be an alternative in situations of narrow ridge dimension, where conventional root form implant could be compromised. The aim of this clinical report is to describe how a space that could not be restored with a traditional root form endosteal implant was managed and to present a technique to achieve optimal anterior esthetics in single implant restoration.

  • A digital city model represents a 3D environment of a city with various city object information such as 3D building model, road, and land cover. Usually, at least two satellite images with some image overlap are necessary and a complex satellite-related computation needs to be carried out to create a city model. This is an expensive technique, because it requires many resources and excessive computational cost. The authors propose a methodology to create a digital city model including 3D building model and land cover information from a single high resolution satellite image. The approach consists of image pan-sharpening, shadow recovery, building occlusion restoration, building model extraction, and land cover classification. We create a digital city model using a single KOMPSAT-2 image and review the result.

딥러닝 기반의 복합 열화 영상 분류 및 복원 기법 (Classification and Restoration of Compositely Degraded Images using Deep Learning)

  • CNN (convolutional neural network) 기반의 단일 열화 영상 복원 방법은 우수한 성능을 나타내지만 한가지의 특정 열화를 해결하는 데 맞춤화 되어있다. 본 연구에서는 복합적으로 열화 된 영상 분류 및 복원을 위한 알고리즘을 제시한다. 복합 열화 영상 분류 문제를 해결하기 위해 CNN 기반의 알고리즘인 사전 학습된 Inception-v3 네트워크를 활용하고, 영상 열화 복원을 위해 기존의 CNN 기반의 복원 알고리즘을 사용하여 툴체인을 구성한다. 실험적으로 복합 열화 영상의 복원 순서를 추정하였으며, CNN 기반의 영상 화질 측정 알고리즘의 결과와 비교하였다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 추정된 복원 순서를 바탕으로 구현되어 실험 결과를 통해 복합 열화 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있음을 보인다.

GMPLS에서 Sub-Network을 이용한 동적 복구 방식 및 특성 (Sub-Network based Dynamic Restoration Schemes and Its Characteristics on GMPLS Network)

  • 본 논문에서는 GMPLS 네트워크의 생존성을 높이기 위해 서브네트워크를 이용한 2가지 유형의 동적 복구 방안들을 제안하고, 그의 특성을 분석한다. 제안한 방식은 전체 GMPLS 네트워크를 몇 개의 서브네트워크로 나누고, 장애가 발생된 장소에 따라 복구 방식과 보호 방식을 혼합하여 적용한 방식과 GMPLS 네트워크를 주 서브네트워크와 보조 서브네트워크로 나누고 장애가 발생한 지점에 따라 서브네트워크 별로 복구 방식을 적용하는 방안이다. 두 방식의 성능을 시뮬레이션을 통해 네트워크자원 이용 율과 복구 성공률, 평균 복구 시간을 분석하고, 기존 방식과 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 기존 l+l, 1:1, 1:N의 보호 방식보다는 두 방식 모두 자원이용 효율은 증가하였다. 복구 성공률과 평균 복구 시간은 기존의 경로 복구 방식에 비해, 단일 장애에 대해서는 우수하지만 다중 장애에 대해서는 약간 열세임을 확인하였다. 그러나 단일 경로에서 다중 링크 장애가 발생할 확률은 낮으므로, 실제 적용 시 문제가 되지 않는다.
