Ab Initio Studies of Hexahydroxybenzene Triscarbonate ($C_9O_9$) and Analogous Compounds ($C_9S_9,\;C_9O_6S_3,\;C_9O_3S_6$) (Hexahydroxybenzene Triscarbonate($C_9O_9$)와 유사화합물들의 ab initio 연구)

  • An ab initio molecular orbital method has been applied to investigation of molecular properties and equilibrium geometries for hexahydroxybenzene triscarbonate (C9O9) and its analogous cyclic compounds (C9S9, C9O6S3, C9O3S6). In these works, the optimized geometry of each compound has been obtained at HF and MP2 levels. These results have shown that the optimized geometries of these compounds prefer D3h planar structure to C3v bowl structure. Calculations of harmonic vibrational frequencies have been also carried out at HF/3-21G* level to analyze normal modes of these compounds. Bonding characters of these compounds are studied by Mulliken and natural populations obtained at HF/6-31G* level. We have also studied the structures and the populations of C6O6 and C6S6 at HF and MP2 levels which are obtained by pyrolyses of C9O9 and analogous compounds. In addition, the single point calculations have been performed to predict the approximate energy barrier for pyrolysis of each compound.

In vitro Antimicrobial Combination Therapy in Metallo-β-lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Metallo-β-lactamase 생성 Pseudomonas aeruginosa의 시험관내 항균제 병합요법에 대한 연구)

  • Metallo-${\beta}$-lactamase (MBL) can hydrolyze all ${\beta}$-lactams except monobactams and frequently coexists with various antibiotic resistance genes such as aminoglycoside resistance, sulfonamide resistance gene, etc. Therefore, the effective antibiotics against infections by these bacteria are markedly limited or can't even be found. We tried to search in-vitro antimicrobial combinations with synergistic effects for a VIM-2 type MBL producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa, isolated from clinical specimen. On the selection of antibiotic combinations with synergistic effects, we performed a one disk synergy test, modified Pestel's method, in agar without aztreonam (AZT). The bacteriostatic synergistic effects of this tests were scored as $S_1$ (by susceptibility pattern in agar without antibiotics), $S_2$ (by the change of susceptibility in agar with or without antibiotics) and $S_3$ ($S_1$ + $S_2$) and was classified into weak (1 point), moderate (2 points) and strong (3 points) by $S_3$ score. Subsequently, we carried out the time-killing curve for the antibiotic combinations with the strong synergistic bacteriostatic effect. One VIM-2 type MBL producing P. aeruginosa confirmed by the PCR showed all resistance against all ${\beta}$-lactams except AZT, aminoglycoside and ciprofloxacin. In the one disk synergy test, this isolate showed a strong bacteriostatic synergistic effect for the antibiotic combination of AZT and piperacillin-tazobactam (PIP-TZP) or AZT and amikacin (AN). On the time-killing curve after six hours of incubation, the colony forming units (CFUs/mL) of this bacteria in the medium broth with both combination antibiotics were decreased to 1/18.7, 1/17.1 of the least CFUs of each single antibiotics. The triple antibiotic combination therapy including AZT, PIP-TZP and AN was shown to be significantly synergistic after 8 hrs of exposure. In a VIM-2 MBL producing P. aeruginosa with susceptibility for AZT, the triple antibiotic combination therapy including AZT, PIP-TZP and AN may be considered as an alternative antibiotics modality against the infection by some MBL type. But the antimicrobial combination therapy for many more MBL producing isolates is essential to know as soon as possible for the selection of effective treatment against the infection by this bacteria.

  • Many transmission towers, high-rise buildings and bridges are constructed near steep slopes and are supported by large-diameter piles. These structures may be subjected to large lateral loads, such as violent winds and earthquakes. Widely used types of foundations for these structures are pier foundations, which have large-diameters with high stiffness. The behavior of a pier foundation subjected to lateral loads is similar to that of a short rigid pile because both elements seem to fail by rotation developing passive resistance on opposite faces above and below the rotation point, unlike the behavior of a long flexible pile. This paper describes the results of several numerical studies performed with a three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) of model tests of a laterally loaded short pile located near slopes, respectively. In this paper, the results of model tests of single piles and pile groups subjected to lateral loading, in homogeneous sand with 30$^{\circ}$ slopes and horizontal ground were analyzed by the 3-D FE analyses. The pile was assumed to be linearly elastic. The sand was assumed to have non-associative characteristics, following the MC-DP model. The failure criterion is governed by the Mohr-Coulomb equation and the plastic potential is given by the Drucker-Prager equation. The main purpose of this paper is the validation of the 3-D elasto-plastic FEM by comparisons with the experimental data.

Annealing Effect and Tunability of BaZr0.08Ti0.92O3 Polycrystal Grown in N2 Gas Atmosphere by Floating Zone Technique (Floating Zone Technique법으로 질소분위기 하에서 성장한 BaZr0.08Ti0.92O3 다결정의 Tunability 및 열처리 효과)

  • In the atmosphere of $N_2$ gas, BaZ $r_{0.08}$ $Ti_{0.92}$ $O_3$ polycrystal was grown by floating zone technique using BaZ $r_{0.08}$ $Ti_{0.92}$ $O_3$ ceramics as a feed and SrTi $O_3$(1l0) single cystal as a seed. The dielectric constant and loss at 10 kHz, 100 kHz, and 1 MHz for the as-grown sample were measured as a function of temperature in the temperature range between -10$0^{\circ}C$ and 150 $^{\circ}C$ to find a dielectric peak with frequency dispersion at Curie point. The hysteresis loop showed that the grown sample had very small polarization which was 0-0.01 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for the applied dc-electric fields from -7 kV/cm to +7 kV/cm. However, the normal hysteresis loop was appeared after oxygen annealing. The electric-field dependence of the dielectric constant for both the as-grown and the post-annealed samples was studied by measuring the dielectric constants as a function of the biased-electric fields and their tunability was figured out from it at room temperature(27 $^{\circ}C$) and cryotemperature( -73$^{\circ}C$). Tunability for the as-grown sample was 51 % and the figure of merit 20.4 at 10kHz with the biased electric-field of 12 kV/cm. The tunability for the grown sample may be increased up to 80 % if the electric field of 25 kV/cm is applied. Tunability for the post-annealed sample was 41 % and the figure of merit 10.3 at 10 kHz with the biased electric-field of 12 kV /cm. Post-annealing improved the crystallinity of the as-grown sample but decreased its tunability.ability.

Flow Visualization in the Branching Duct by Using Particle Imaging Velocimetry (입자영상유속계를 이용한 분기관내 유동가시화)

  • The objective of this study is to analyse the flow field in the branching duct by visualizing the flow phenomena using the PIV system. A bifurcation model is fabricated with transparent acrylic resin to visualize the whole flow field with the PIV system. Water was used as the working fluid and the conifer powder as the tracer particles. The single-frame and two-frame methods of the PIV system and 2-frame of the grey level correlation method are applied to obtain the velocity vectors from the images captured in the flow filed. The velocity distributions in a lid-driven cavity flow are compared with the so-called standard experimental data, which was obtained from by 4-frame method in order to validate experimental results of the PIV measurements. The flow patterns of a Newtonian fluid in a branching duct were successfully visualized by using the PIV system and the sub-pixel and the area interpolation method were used to obtain the final velocity vectors. The velocity vectors obtained from the PIV system are in good agreement with the numerical results of the 3-dimensional branch flow. The results of numerical analyses and the PIV experiments for the three-dimensional flows in the branch ing duct show the recirculation zone distal to the branching point and the sizes of the recirculation length and height of the tow different methods are in good agreement.

  • As security problems of the paper ballot have been emerged on and on, electronic voting with enhanced security and convenience has been introduced in several countries. However, it has not been adopted most of countries because of the problems that come from interdependence and security flaws. Meanwhile, the blockchain technology has high reliability due to the mechanism of mining that miners verify and preserve blocks independently by using P2P formation which does not have a central authority. Furthermore, because each block refers to the hash of the previous block. if any one block is changed, it is very difficult to forge and modify the blockchain because all blocks must be changed. If this technology is applied to the E-voting, integrity, and transparency about the result of the ballot is guaranteed. In this paper, we propose and implement an electronic voting system based on blockchain that improves interdependence, the reliability of excessive TTP and single point of failure come from original electronic voting. Also, we analyze the security and advantage of the proposal system compared with the existing bitcoin-based electronic voting system.

Hilbert Cube for Spatio-Temporal Data Warehouses (시공간 데이타웨어하우스를 위한 힐버트큐브)

  • Recently, there have been various research efforts to develop strategies for accelerating OLAP operations on huge amounts of spatio-temporal data. Most of the work is based on multi-tree structures which consist of a single R-tree variant for spatial dimension and numerous B-trees for temporal dimension. The multi~tree based frameworks, however, are hardly applicable to spatio-temporal OLAP in practice, due mainly to high management cost and low query efficiency. To overcome the limitations of such multi-tree based frameworks, we propose a new approach called Hilbert Cube(H-Cube), which employs fractals in order to impose a total-order on cells. In addition, the H-Cube takes advantage of the traditional Prefix-sum approach to improve Query efficiency significantly. The H-Cube partitions an embedding space into a set of cells which are clustered on disk by Hilbert ordering, and then composes a cube by arranging the grid cells in a chronological order. The H-Cube refines cells adaptively to handle regional data skew, which may change its locations over time. The H-Cube is an adaptive, total-ordered and prefix-summed cube for spatio-temporal data warehouses. Our approach focuses on indexing dynamic point objects in static spatial dimensions. Through the extensive performance studies, we observed that The H-Cube consumed at most 20% of the space required by multi-tree based frameworks, and achieved higher query performance compared with multi-tree structures.

Round Robin(RR) ONE-IP: Efficient Connection Scheduling Technique for Hosting Internet Services on a Cluster of Servers (서버 클러스터에서의 인터넷 서비스를 위한 효율적인 연결 스케줄링 기법)

  • 웹을 사용하는 사용자들의 급속도로 증가하는 서비스 요청을 신속하고 저렴한 비용으로 처리하기 위한 대응책으로, LAN 환경의 웹 서버 클러스터 구조가 각광을 받고 있다. 높은 가용성 및 확장성을 보장하는 웹 서비스를 제공하기 위해 많은 부하의 서비스 요구를 여러 서버에게 효과적으로 나누어 처리할 수 있어야 하며, 따라서 서비스 요청 패킷을 고르게 분배할 수 있는 합리적인 스케줄링 기법을 필요로 한다. ONE-IP 스케줄링 기법은 이더넷의 브로드케스트 메시지에 의해 스케줄링이 분산되도록 하는 전략을 사용함으로써, 클러스터에 유입되는 패킷의 집중화로 인해 발생할 수 있는 병목 현상(bottleneck)과 치명적인 오류(Single-point of Failure) 문제를 효과적으로 해결하였다. 그러나, 서비스를 요청하는 패킷의 발신지 주소만을 이용하는 단순한 패킷 스케줄링을 사용하기 때문에 클러스터를 구성하는 서버들 간의 부하 불균형을 가중시키며, 결과적으로 클러스터의 효율성을 저하시키는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 RR ONE-IP 기법을 제안하였다. 제안한 기법은 서버에 할당되는 부하간에 불균형이 발생하는 문제점을 해결하기 위해 TCP 연결 단위의 스케줄링 전략을 사용하였으며, 서버의 부하 정보를 이용하지 않는 RR 스케줄링 기법을 도입함으로써, ONE-IP 기법의 장점을 그대로 유지하면서 보다 나은 부하의 균등한 분배로 시스템의 처리 능력을 향상시키도록 하였다. 또한, 실험을 수행한 결과 제안한 기법이 기존의 기법에 비해 평균 3.84%의 시스템의 성능 향상을 보였으며, 과부하 발생율에서는 평균 23.5%의 감소를 가져왔음을 보였다.우 단어 인식률이 43.21%인 반면 표제어간 음운변화 현상을 반영한 1-Best 사전의 경우 48.99%, Multi 사전의 경우 50.19%로 인식률이 5~6%정도 향상되었음을 볼 수 있었고, 수작업에 의한 표준발음사전의 단어 인식률 45.90% 보다도 약 3~4% 좋은 성능을 보였다.으로서 hemicellulose구조가 polyuronic acid의 형태인 것으로 사료된다. 추출획분의 구성단당은 여러 곡물연구의 보고와 유사하게 glucose, arabinose, xylose 함량이 대체로 높게 나타났다. 점미가 수가용성분에서 goucose대비 용출함량이 고르게 나타나는 경향을 보였고 흑미는 알칼리가용분에서 glucose가 상당량(0.68%) 포함되고 있음을 보여주었고 arabinose(0.68%), xylose(0.05%)도 다른 종류에 비해서 다량 함유한 것으로 나타났다. 흑미는 총식이섬유 함량이 높고 pectic substances, hemicellulose, uronic acid 함량이 높아서 콜레스테롤 저하 등의 효과가 기대되며 고섬유식품으로서 조리 특성 연구가 필요한 것으로 사료된다.리하였다. 얻어진 소견(所見)은 다음과 같았다. 1. 모년령(母年齡), 임신회수(姙娠回數), 임신기간(姙娠其間), 출산시체중등(出産時體重等)의 제요인(諸要因)은 주산기사망(周産基死亡)에 대(對)하여 통계적(統計的)으로 유의(有意)한 영향을 미치고 있어 $25{\sim}29$세(歲)의 연령군에서, 2번째 임신과 2번째의 출산에서 그리고 만삭의 임신 기간에, 출산시체중(出産時體重) $3.50{\sim}3.99kg$사이의 아이에서 그 주산기사망률(周産基死亡率)

Transgenic Efficiency of FoxN1-targeted Pig Parthenogenetic Embryos

  • The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR associated protein (Cas9) system can be applied to produce transgenic pigs. Therefore, we applied CRISPR/Cas9 system to generate FoxN1-targeted pig parthenogenetic embryos. Using single guided RNA targeted to pig FoxN1 genes was injected into cytoplasm of in vitro matured oocyte before electrical activation. In results, regardless of the concentrations of vector, the cleavage rate were significantly (p<0.05) decreased ($4ng/{\mu}l$, 51.24%; $8ng/{\mu}l$, 40.88%; and $16ng/{\mu}l$; 45.22%) compared to no injection group (70.44%). The blastocyst formation rates were also decreased in vector injected 3 groups ($4ng/{\mu}l$, 7.96%; $8ng/{\mu}l$, 6.4%; and $16ng/{\mu}l$; 9.04%) compared to no injection group (29.07%). In addition, the blastocyst formation rates between sham injected group (13.51%) and no injection group (29.07%) also showed significant difference (p<0.05). The mutation rates were comparable between groups ($4ng/{\mu}l$, 18.4%; $8ng/{\mu}l$, 12.5%; and $16ng/{\mu}l$; 20.0%). The sequencing analysis showed that blastocysts derived from each group were successfully mutated in FoxN1 loci regardless of the vector concentrations. However, the deletion patterns were higher than the patterns of point mutation and insertion regardless of the vector concentrations. In conclusion, we described that cytoplasmic microinjection of FoxN1-targeted CRISPR/Cas9 vector could efficiently generate transgenic pig parthenogenetic embryos in one-step.

A study on Utilization of Dancing Light through Zone Lighting of the Indoor Proscenium Stage (실내 프로시니엄 공연무대의 구역 디자인 구역조명을 통한 무용 조명 활용방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to investigate the utilization of Indoor Proscenium Stage Zone Lighting method in the dancing performance. In other words, it is about how we can utilize the principle of zone lighting in dancing performance, a kind of stage art. Stage lights give lights on the stage. Therefore they play big and important roles in dancing performances. Lightings make big influence on the overall atvosphere and situations of the dancing work but most of dancers do not perceive their importance and furthermore they don't know about the lightings very well. To let them know about stage lightings better, we studied lightings form the perspective of the dancers who face the lightings without great knowledge thresh the articles and literature related general lightings and lighting design, books related to stage lightings and dancing lightings, previous studies and academic articles. The most important part of this study is to understand and utilize the principle of zone lightiing. Zone lighting is generally called as cross lighting, which means single light from the crossed two lights. When looking into the principle of the zone lighting of the Indoor Proscenium Stage, it means 45 degree lighting from both sides of the top form the point of the dancer When more than two lights are used, the angle of the light should be $90^{\circ}$or 120. It is the principle of the lighting technology showing the face and body of the dancers ing three dimension. Applying for the principle of this zone lighting to the dancing performance of Indoor Proscenium Stage, the lighting methods and the usage of the lightings were studied. As shown above, the role of the lighting is very important in dancing configuration. We hope that the perception on the dancing lighting will be changed and studies on the dancing lightings. By understanding and applying more principles of lighting, we will make efforts to make better dancing performance and dancing conporsers and dancers shall make more efforts and studies on lighting for better works. Through such efforts, we can have more experts and professionals In dancing lighting field and they will help us to describe and express the intention of the dancing work better as dancing artists. We hope that there will be better quality performances through more and diversified studies in this field.
