  • This paper proposes new series and parallel Sin+Cos PSS(power system stabilizer) for the purpose to improve the existing PSS1A's performance. The purpose of PSS is used to enhance damping of power system oscillations through injection of auxiliary signal for an excitation control terminal. The Proposed series and Parallel Sin+Cos PSS is connected adding the Sin+Cos terms additionally with serial and with parallel connection in a conventional PSS1A. The proposed controller is aim to considering of a damping of oscillation when it changes parameter fluctuations or operational load variations in a power system. The object of electric power system is KEPCO system and the voltage of power transmission line is a 154kV and a 345kV. The PSCAD/EMTDC package is used to authorize the effect of the proposed controller. Simulations were shown by and compared with the waveforms for frequency, voltage and electric power.

  • Objective : There are no Clinical reports on Nephrotic syndromes Which the patients improved by only oriental medical treatment. Method : We had administered Sin Youm-Bang for three months, and that time the patient didn't take the western medicine anymore by her own(steroid). And we observe edema, fatigue, headache, dizziness, lumbago and 24'h proteinuria, when we use only Sin Youm Bang. Result : We use Sin Youm-Bang during 3 month, edema, fatigue, headache, dizziness, lumbago was disappeared. And also 24'hr proteinuria was decreased(520mg/day to 28mg/day). Conclusion : Accordingly, We think, Sin Youm-Bang is used to Nephrotic syndromes and from now on we need more study at protecting proteinuria mechanism and immunological mechanism of Sin Youm Bang.

  • This study was investigated to clarify the effect of Sin Bee Tang (神秘湯) on the renal function, arterial blood pressure and plasma cortisol. The results obtained were follows; 1. Urine volume and glomerular filtration rate were decreased significantly after Sin Bee Tang water extract, 0.1ml/kg, administration. 2. Glomerular filtration rate, renal plasma flow and urinary excretion of electrolytes were increased significantly after Sin Bee Tang water extract, 0.25ml/kg, administration. 3. Plasma cortisol concentration increased significantly after Sin Bee Tang water extract, 0.25ml/kg, administration. These results suggest that the therapeutic action of Sin Bee Tang for 'Su Chun (水喘)' has a relation with the increase of plasma cortisol and renal hemodynamic effect.

  • Objectives : The quotation of Seongyeong found in the chapter of danjeonyusam in Donguibogam uses a type of allocation of Gi(氣), Sin(神), and Jeong(精) each in Upper, Middle and Lower, three Danjeon, that is different from the type was widely accepted at the time. The paper attempts to interpret this in a new way. Methods : The paper collected the understanding of Jeong-Gi-Sin found in the Korean medicine based on Naedan Theory of Taoism, and tried to approach and structurally analyze the contents of Seongyeong, Ojinpyeonju, and Hwanggeuggyeongseseo found in Donguibogam's danjeonyusam. Results : The control of the body by Gi stored in Upper Danjeon is related to brain function, control of Gi at Lower Danjeon which preserves Jeong in Kidney is related to proliferation of Original Qi from kidney region throughout the body by triple energizers. Sin located at Middle Danjeon is contrasted with Jeong in Lower Danjeon, and Sin controls activity of life in the part between body and Gi. Conclusions : A new understanding on the assignment of Jeong-Gi-Sin in Seongyeong is possible, and it is expected to contribute to the future study of Korean Medicine and Taoism.

  • We disprove a conjecture of Bombieri regarding univalent functions in the unit disk in some previously unknown cases. The key step in the argument is showing that the global minimum of the real function (n sin x - sin(nx))/(m sin x - sin(mx)) is attained at x = 0 for integers m > $n{\geq}2$ when m is odd and n is even, m is sufficiently big and $0.5{\leq}n/m{\leq}0.8194$.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the 11th International Classification System (ICD-11), which classifies game addiction as a disease in 2018. Sin stocks are defined as the companies that have negative addictive properties and are taxed on social costs. If a game disorder is listed in the disease classification system in Korea, it is highly likely that Korean game companies may be considered as sin stocks that causes negative addictive properties and social costs such as the game addiction and the game addiction tax. This suggests that game companies could be newly included in the scope of sin stocks in Korea. In this study, we examine the effect of the inclusion of game companies in the scope of sin stocks on the job preferences of game companies. We found that there is a high level of opposition to the opinion of the listing sin stocks of game companies, and a high degree of addiction and gambling was suggested as the cause of the game companies being classified as sin stocks. We also found that firm value and job preference would be decrease if a game company was classified as sin stocks. The study is meaningful in that it suggests that game companies can be perceived negatively as sin stocks due to the disease code of game disorder, which has recently emerged as a social issue. Also, this study will contribute to the academia and market participants by reporting statistically the effect of the classification of sin stocks in game companies on job preferences for game companies.

  • Sinomenium acutum has been long used in the preparations of traditional medicine in Japan, China and Korea for the treatment of various disorders including rheumatism, fever, pulmonary diseases and mood disorders. Recently, it was reported that Sinomenium acutum, has sedative and anxiolytic effects mediated by GABA-ergic systems. These experiments were performed to investigate whether sinomenine (SIN), an alkaloid derived from Sinomenium acutum enhances pentobarbital-induced sleep via ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic systems, and modulates sleep architecture in mice. Oral administration of SIN (40 mg/kg) markedly reduced spontaneous locomotor activity, similar to diazepam (a benzodiazepine agonist) in mice. SIN shortened sleep latency, and increased total sleep time in a dose-dependent manner when co-administrated with pentobarbital (42 mg/kg, i.p.). SIN also increased the number of sleeping mice and total sleep time by concomitant administration with the sub-hypnotic dosage of pentobarbital (28 mg/kg, i.p.). SIN reduced the number of sleep-wake cycles, and increased total sleep time and non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. In addition, SIN also increased chloride influx in the primary cultured hypothalamic neuronal cells. Furthermore, protein overexpression of glutamic acid decarboxylase ($GAD_{65/67}$) and $GABA_A$ receptor subunits by western blot were found, being activated by SIN. In conclusion, SIN augments pentobarbital-induced sleeping behaviors through $GABA_A$-ergic systems, and increased NREM sleep. It could be a candidate for the treatment of insomnia.
