Smart Escape Support System for Passenger Ship : Active Dynamic Signage & Real-time Escape Routing (능동형 피난유도기기와 실시간 피난경로생성 기술을 적용한 여객선 스마트 인명대피 시스템)

  • It is critical that passengers should be given timely and correct escape or evacuation guidance from captain and crews when there are hazardous situations in a ship. Otherwise the consequences could be disastrous as "SEWOL Ferry" the South Korean passenger ship which sank in southern coastal area on 16th April 2014. Due to the captain's delayed evacuation decision and lack of sufficient number of crews to guide passengers' evacuation, the accident recorded many casualties, most of whom were high school students (302 passengers sank down with the ship while 172 rescued). Building a passenger ship with well-designed physical escape routes is one thing and guiding passengers to those escape routes in real disaster situation is another. Passengers get panic and move to a wrong direction, bottleneck makes situation worse, and even crews get panic also - passive static escape route signage and small number of trained crews might not be enough to take care of them. SESS (Smart Escape Support System) is being developed sponsored by South Korea Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries starting from 2016 with 4 years of roadmap. SESS comprises multiple active dynamic signage devices which communicate with real-time escape routing server software via LoRa (Long Range) proprietary wireless network.

  • Depending on the field of smart industry has become increasingly widespread, the digital signage industry as advertising and content industry is emerging. However, this industry is growing rapidly it is not the reason for that is lack of a legal definition or system. The current legal system merely existing laws that apply to the use of outdoor advertising such as advertising and outdoor advertising Electrical, according to a separate law on digital signage is still is not enough. Most of the current legal system between a size that it is put in the control object, its type, the installation location and details and locations of areas in accordance with the regulation member of the law which can reduce the effectiveness of such a business to control them collectively There is concern that the differences are caused by unification can be difficult. In reality, the institutions of the new law was necessary, organized under the existing regulation rather than promoting new laws to screen the effectiveness of the national business media industry through a kind of standardization and unification of the digital signage industry in the future creation of a jurisdiction other than safety administration Science It is important to foster.

Content Types and Interactions Suitable for Digital Signage at Seoul Subway Stations as a Communication Platform for Citizens (시민들의 소통 플랫폼으로서 서울시 지하철 디지털 사이니지에 적합한 콘텐츠 및 인터랙션 연구)

  • As interactive digital signages with computer network have been increasingly popular in public space, the needs for studying content types and interactions suitable for the digital signages are emerging. In this study, we aim to find out what contents are preferred to share and how to interact in the digital signage installed in Seoul subway stations. We conduct a case study, a survey, and an in-depth interview. In the case study, we collect content types which have been communicated in public space. Among these content types, we conduct a survey to find out the preferred contents of Seoul citizens. We observe that the preferred contents differ by the age of the citizens. Specifically, 20's prefer the subjects about personal interests, 40's choose public interests and 30's prefer both types. In addition, we observe that the subjects about personal interest are relatively less preferred when people read, whereas the subjects are preferred when people write. Lastly, regarding interaction type, we find that Seoul citizens prefer touching the screen directly to using smart phone to express their empathy. The contents that people write and the number of likes will be archived as big data and analyzed so that Seoul city officers and citizens will know what people think based on age, location, and subjects.

  • 최근 디지털 사이니지는 대형 디스플레이를 이용한 고해상도 영상을 스트리밍 하거나 사용자와의 인터랙션을 통해 사용자 맞춤형 광고를 제공하거나 혹은 주변상황 인식 시스템과 연계한 재난방제 등 다양한 형태로 발전하고 있다. 향후 웹 기반의 개방형 디지털 사이니지가 주류를 이룰 것으로 예상됨에 따라 다양한 서비스나 단말장치와 연동할 수 있는 상호운용성을 갖춘 솔루션을 위한 기술들이 활발히 연구될 것이다. 본고에서는 최근 고해상도를 지원하는 디지털 사이니지 기술 및 산업동향을 살펴보고, 국내외에 행해지고 있는 표준 활동을 소개하고자 한다.

  • 디지털 사이니지(Digital Signage)는 불특정 다수에게 일대다 형태로 정보를 제공하는 디지털 정보 디스플레이(Digital Information Display)에서 사용자의 상황을 인지하여 개인 맞춤형 콘텐츠를 제공하는 상황인지기반 텔레스크린(TeleScreen)으로 진화했으며, 앞으로의 디지털 사이니지는 옥내외에 위치한 다양한 형태의 사이니지들이 주변 환경과 사용자 상황에 따라 서로 협업하여 서비스를 제공하는 오픈스크린 서비스로 발전할 전망이다. 본 고에서는 오픈스크린(Open-Screen) 서비스의 등장 배경과 개념을 소개하고 하고 본 연구원에서 개발한 오픈스크린 서비스 플랫폼 기술을 소개한다.

  • 디지털 사이니지는 사용 중인 대다수의 시스템이 폐쇄적이고 독자적이기 때문에 상호운용성이 부족하다. 따라서, 종단 사용자가 다른 제조업체나 오퍼레이터로부터 제품이나 서비스를 결합하여 사용하거나 다른 특징을 갖는 다양한 종류의 단말을 사용하기 위하여 산업체에서는 상호운용가능한 디지털 사이니지 솔루션을 위한 기술적인 표준을 정의한다. 현재 디지털 사이니지 기술에 대한 표준화는 ITU-T, POPAI(Point of Purchase Advertising International), W3C 등에서 진행되어 왔다. 따라서, 본고에서는 ITU-T, POPAI, W3C 등 디지털 사이니지 표준화 작업을 추진하고 있는 주요 국제 표준기구 및 포럼의 표준개발 현황에 대해 소개한다.

  • This paper proposes a novel desktop virtual reality system. Based on the position of the user's face, the proposed system selects the most appropriate image of an object from a set of photographs taken at various angles, and simply "pastes" it onto the display at the appropriate location and scale. Using this system, the users can intuitively feel the presence of the object.

  • In this paper, we propose the authoring tools engine supported a 4 dimension display contents which serve display of high quality (UHD*250) curved using 4 dimension engine, which is a innovation technology by authoring tools of management software supported 4 dimension editing environment on curved flexible display. The important technology is as follows, the first, the authoring tools of 4 dimension viedo wall for a flexible high quality display(UHD*256) using multiscreen synchornization, the second implemented a bidirection interaction technology of UI/UX interface, which is established by 360 degree recognition sensor for digital signage, the 4 dimension viedowall flexible display with curve, the third, implemented the authoring tool software for various dimension electronic books first in the world.

Channel Interference Analysis of Wideband WLAN Based IEEE802.11n for 3rd Generation Digital Signage (3세대 디지털 사이니지를 위한 IEEE802.11n 광대역 무선랜에 대한 채널 간섭 분석)

  • In this paper, we have analyzed the effects of co-channel, adjacent-channel, and the human shield(Body Blockage) for wideband WLAN based on the IEEE802.11n 40MHz channel bandwidth required for high speed digital signage service. Simulation results show that wideband WLAN can be operated with 78 interferers over 63m distance in co- channel, 80 interferer over 61m distance in adjacent channel. By applying the mitigation method for reducing the interference, we have confirmed that protection distance is improved to 51m using beamforming, and 40m using cognitive radio in co-channel interference. Also body blockage interference is reduced using adaptive channel bandwidth, C/I ratio, beamforming, power control mitigation methodology.
