An Experimental Study on Sidewalk on the Bridge Bracket Section to Optimize (교량 보도부 브라켓 단면의 최적화를 위한 실험적 연구)

  • 통상 교량구조물은 차도부와 보도부 및 그 부속시설로서 난간 및 연석부 등으로 구성되는데, 자동차 전용도로의 경우 보도부가 설치되지 않게 되고, 국내의 국도 및 지방도상의 많은 교량이 차도부와 보도부의 별도의 구분이 없이 보행자가 연석부 위로 통행하거나 여의치 않을 경우 난간에 기대어 통행하는 경우가 일반적이어서 안전사고의 위험에 직접 노출되는 경우가 많다. 이에 국토해양부에서는 최근 "도로의 구조 및 시설기준에 관한 규칙"을 개정하여 국내의 보행자 관련 교통사고로 인한 사망자가 전체 교통사고 사망자의 약 절반을 차지하는 실정을 고려하여 보행자의 안전한 통행로 확보를 통해 보행공간의 근본적인 개선이 불가피한 실정임을 시사 하였다. 이에 국내에서는 교량 보도부의 확장에 대한 관심이 높은 실정이며, 현재 보도부 확장에 대한 시공이 활발하게 이뤄지고 있다. 그러나 기존 교량에 보도부를 신설 혹은 확장함에 있어서 보도부 부재의 설치 간격 및 필요한 앵커볼트의 수량 및 부재의 성능 평가에 대한 기준이 명확하게 이뤄지지 않은 상태에서 설치되어져 왔었다. 기존에 시공되던 H-형강의 브라켓 단면의 경우 브라켓 단면의 중량이 커서 안정성 및 시공성이 떨어지며 과다한 앵커볼트의 체결 및 브라켓 단면의 과다설계로 인한 공사기간 및 비용의 증대를 가져오는 문제점이 있었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교량 보도부의 확장 및 신설에 있어서 보도부 부재의 설치간격의 적정성 및 브라켓의 최적화를 위한 브라켓의 성능평가 시험을 수행하였다. 브라켓의 성능평가 시험은 1차 2차 3차 시험으로 나누어 진행되었으며, 1차시험은 H-형강의 브라켓단면을 원형강관으로서의 대체 가능성을 확인하였고, 2차 시험에서는 원형강관의 브라켓 단면의 앵커볼트수량의 최적화에 대한 시험을 수행하였으며, 3차 시험은 최적화된 브라켓 단면에 프리스트레싱의 도입으로 반력 및 인발력의 감소효과를 확인하는 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 수행결과 기존의 설계 및 시공방법이 과다 설계가 이뤄졌음을 판단하였고, 브라켓 단면의 최적화를 통하여 기존 시공방법에 비해 시공성, 안전성, 경제성을 높일수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • The number of accidents occurring at railway crossings is less than the accidents on other sections of roads but they cause enormous socio-economic damages. The geometric aspects of the railway crossing have to allow the drivers to recognize the crossings and take precautions against collisions. Therefore, ensuring visibility for the vehicle approaching the railway crossing is necessary for safe operation of the crossing. However, as there is little research related to railway crossing visibility in Korea. validating visibility and maintaining visibility based on the validation is badly needed. This research develops a visibility validation model to support improving visibility and to reduce accidents at railway crossings to improve safety for the crossing users.

Curb Detection and Following in Various Environments by Adjusting Tilt Angle of a Laser Scanner (레이저 스캐너의 틸트 각도 조절을 통한 다양한 환경에서의 연석 탐지 및 추종)

  • When a robot navigates in an outdoor environment, a curb or a sidewalk separated from the road can be used as a robust feature. However, most algorithms could detect the curb only in the straight road, and could not detect highly curved corners, ramps, and so on. This paper proposes an algorithm which enables the robot to detect and follow the curbs in various types of roads. In the proposed method, the robot tilts a laser scanner and computes the error between the predicted and the measured distances to the road in front of the robot. Based on this error, the curbs at corners and curves can be classified. It is also difficult to detect a curb near a ramp because of its low height. In this case, the robot also tilts a laser scanner to detect the curb beyond the ramp. Once the robot classifies the road into the curve, corner, ramp, the robot selects the proper navigation strategies depending on the classified road types and is able to continue to detect and follow the curb. The results of a series of experiments show that the robot can stably detect and follows the curb in curves, corners and ramps as well as the straight road.

A Study on Enhancement Methods of Level of Service Analysis for Pedestrian Sidewalks (보행자도로 서비스 수준 분석방법 개선 연구)

  • Currently, level of service(LOS) analysis methods for pedestrian sidewalks are provided in Korean Highway Capacity Manual(KHCM, 2013). However, conventional methods provided in the KHCM produce most of pedestrian sidewalks' LOS as level A, indicating that existing analysis methods are unable to reflect realistic pedestrian sidewalks' LOS. The objectives of this research are to identify the suitability of current LOS criteria and to propose improved LOS evaluation criteria and methods with pedestrian volume data carried out for 10,000 sites in 2009. This research proposes new criteria by using the qualitative definition of LOS proposed by Fruin and Hall, new standard Korean human scale and new criteria of pedestrian occupancy space. Application results of new criteria show that more realistic results can be achieved than the existing methods. It is expected that applying the newly developed criteria and methods can make planning, design and construction of pedestrian sidewalks more realistic and various.

  • In recent years, with increasing utilization of mobile devices such as smartphones, the need for PNS(Pedestrian Navigation Systems) that provide guidance for moving pedestrians is increasing. For the navigation services, road network is the most important component when it comes to creating route and guidance information. In particular, pedestrian network requires modeling methods for more detailed and vast space compared to road network. Therefore, more efficient method is needed to establish pedestrian network that was constructed by existing field survey and manual editing process. This research proposed a pedestrian network creation method appropriate for pedestrians, based on CNS(Car Navigation Systems) data that already has been broadly constructed. Pedestrian network was classified into pedestrian link(sidewalk, side street, walking facility) and openspace link depending on characteristics of walking space, and constructed by applying different methodologies in order to create path that similar to the movements of actual pedestrians. The proposed algorithm is expected to become an alternative for reducing the time and cost of pedestrian network creation.

Analysis of Runoff Reduction Effect of Infiltration Facility Installation Position and Kinds of Infiltration in Urban Basin (도시유역의 침투시설 설치위치와 종류에 따른 유출저감효과 분석)

  • 본 연구는 침투시설의 설치위치와 종류에 따른 유출저감효과를 WinSLAMM 모형을 이용하여 분석한 것이다. 본 연구의 대상유역은 Driveway 38%, Residential Area 8%, Parking Storage 8%, Sidewalk 8%, Playground 8%, 투수유역(Landscaped Area) 30%와 같이 토지이용별로 구획된 총면적 $0.25km^2$의 전형적으로 도시화된 가상유역으로 설정하였다. 침투시설 설치에서 중요한 요소 중 하나인 시설의 포화를 고려하기 위하여 10mm/hr~30mm/hr범위의 강우를 적용하였으며, 설치위치와 종류별 침투시설의 정량적인 유출저감효과를 비교하기 위하여 Residential Area, Parking Storage, Playground와 같은 유역내 불투수유역과 유출구에 해당하는 Outfall에 일정한 규모의 침투트렌치와 침투통을 설치하였다. 침투시설은 강우의 크기에 따라 시설의 포화가 진행되며 일정 규모 이상의 강우 발생시 침투기능을 상실하므로 강우의 크기에 맞는 포화시점을 찾아 적절한 규모로 설치해야하고, 경호우에서 유역내의 침투시설의 가용면적을 증가시키면 유출저감효과도 증가하였으나, 강우가 커질수록 상대적으로 가용면적이 큰 유출구와 차이가 없거나 오히려 더 낮은 유출저감효과가 나타나기도 하였다. 또한 설치위치에 침투시설을 비교한 결과, 경호우의 경우 동일한 유출저감효과가 나타났으나, 침투트렌치가 포화에 이루어지기 전까지는 유출저감효과가 더 높았으며, 유출구에서는 침투트렌치가 침투통보다 더 높은 유출저감효과가 나타났다. 침투시설의 병행설치시 경호우에서는 병행설치의 효과가 없었으나 강우강도가 증가할수록 효과가 뚜렷하게 나타났고, 유역내 침투시설의 병행설치시 가용면적을 증가시킬수록 유출저감효과도 증가하여 경호우 이상의 강우에서 병행설치를 고려되어야한다는 결론을 얻었다.

Analysis of Electric Shock Accidents and Check Results in Domestic and Foreign low-Voltage Handhole (국내.외 저압지중함 감전사고사례 및 점검결과의 분석)

  • Recently underground electrical power distribution is increased because people attach importance to aesthetics of the downtown areas. Lew-voltage handhole of underground distribution line for joint and branch point is mainly installed at the sidewalk. So, pedestrian can get a electric shock if fault is occurred in the low-voltage handhole. Furthermore the street was flooded by recently an unusual change in the weather. Fault is occurred in the low-voltage handhole that may create a shock hazard for the human body because a person's body resistance lower due to effect of water. This paper analyses causes of electric shock accidents and check results at the low-voltage handhole. At a result of analysis, the causes of electric shock accidents in domestic and foreign low-voltage handhole are same but environmental conditions of low-voltage handhole are different In the future, the analytical data can be applied to prevent the electric shock at the low-voltage handhole, and can be used to basic data for the improving installment of low-voltage handhole.

A Study on Luminance Contrast Criteria for Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (시각장애인 점자블록의 휘도대비 기준에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: There are the number of color tactile walking surface indicators installed in Korea, because of indefinite regulation in blind and vision-impaired persons' tactile walking surface indicators. In case of yellow tactile walking surface indicators, it shows a deviation severe color. In this study, the researchers suggested color and brightness reference for helping blind and vision-impaired persons' walking through analyzing the color references of tactile walking surface indicators and the color luminance between tactile walking surface indicators and sidewalk currently used. Method: Reasonable luminance contrast criteria is suggested by examining ways of improving the recognition and recognition of objects according to color contrast visually impaired through literature review and analyzing standards of tactile walking surface indicators and the Europe, Japan and Australia of color and luminance contrast criteria. And by examining the color of the tactile walking surface indicators reported in Korea currently used to derive the problem presented by the luminance contrast in the reference and comparison. Finally, the visually impaired tactile walking surface indicators is set for color selection criteria for the recognition rate improves. Results: In order to improve the recognition rate to be tactile walking surface indicators of the contrast of the visually impaired and the environment than the color of the tactile walking surface indicators itself to secure always a certain level or more of brightness contrast values in the set of the color of the tactile walking surface indicators so important. Implication: In order to set the blind tactile walking surface indicators color recognition based on the verification of the real pedestrian based on the results presented in this paper it is required. It is to be understood as an element of the barrier free configuration for securing the walking pedestrian safety.

  • Detection of crosswalk is an important issue for the blind to walk without the help of others. There is a braille block on the sidewalk, which helps the blind to walk. On the other hand, crosswalk is more dangerous due to the moving vehicles. However, there is no appropriate means to induce the blind. In this paper, we propose a method to detect crosswalk in front of a blind and estimate its direction using an image sensor. We adopt multi-ROIs and make their binary versions. In order to determine whether it is a crosswalk, two features are extracted; one is the number of crossing in the binary image and the other is the ratio of white area. We can also estimate the direction of the crosswalk through the slope of the projection data. We evaluated the performance using experimental dataset and the proposed algorithm showed 80% accuracy of detection.

  • Purpose: This study aims to develop eco - friendly paving materials using Sawdust and EPDM chips. Method: Materials are eco-friendly materials and have no environmental problems. By using EPDM chip, the walking feeling can be increased. Results: In this study, the optimum mixing ratio was calculated through mixing design test. Based on the blending ratio, the surface layer of the sidewalk is made of fine sawdust and EPDM chips. We used only sawdust of grain - 107 -size to make the base layer of the sidewalks and the surface layer of the bicycle road with the permeability and the anti - resilience, and suggested the application method through the test construction. Conclusion: This study the expected that the recent efforts of the government to reduce the elastic paving material, which is the environmentally harmful problem with the complete eco-friendly paving material, are expected to revive.
