A 13-year-old male was diagnosed with a glenoid fracture following direct shoulder trauma, for which surgical treatment was considered. After referral to a center for pediatric orthopedic care, physical examination, contralateral shoulder X-ray, and detailed computed tomography examination ruled out the presence of fracture; these findings were later confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Normal ossification patterns in the adolescent shoulder may simulate a fracture in traumatic settings. To accurately diagnose and manage pediatric shoulder pathology, orthopedic surgeons must be aware of the normal anatomy of the growing shoulder, its secondary ossification centers, and growth plates.

There are some patients who have traumatic anterior shoulder instability due to minor injuries like overhead activities. The purpose of this study was to clarify characteristic features of traumatic anterior shoulder instability due to minor injuries. According to the mechanism of injury in an initial dislocation, 83 shoulders that underwent the stabilizing surgery for traumatic anterior shoulder instability were divided into two groups. Traumatic group included patients who suffered from a fall or a direct injury. Minor injury group included patients who suffered from the other injury like overhead activity. General joint laxity, range of motion and laxity under anesthesia, and intraarticular findings were compared between two groups. The morphology of superior and middle glenohumeral ligaments, Bankart lesion, Hill-Sachs lesion, and partial articular surface tendon avulsion lesion were observed in arthroscopy. Minor injury group consisted of 19 shoulders with 8 males, 11 females and the mean age of 22.5 years. Traumatic group consisted of 64 shoulders with 52 males, 7 females and the mean age of 24.3 years. Female in minor injury group was significantly more than that in traumatic group. There was no difference in general joint laxity and intraarticular findings between two groups. Range of external rotation in injured side in minor injury group was significantly more than that in traumatic group. Inferior laxity in both sides in minor injury group was more than that in traumatic group. In conclusion, the traumatic anterior shoulder instability due to minor injuries might incline to occur the shoulder in female and with inferior laxity of shoulder.

The authors present a case of transient postoperative inferior subluxation of the shoulder after arthroscopic surgical stabilization for recurrent anterior dislocation. The patient was a 61-year-old woman with myasthenia gravis (MG). The first anterior shoulder dislocation occurred because of a fall to the ground. Despite a successful closed reduction, two more dislocations occurred in 3 weeks. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an anterior labroligamentous periosteal sleeve avulsion (ALPSA) lesion, an engaging Hill-Sachs lesion, and large tears of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons. The patient underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and ALPSA repair with a remplissage procedure. Intraoperatively, no tendency for instability was found; however, a widened glenohumeral joint space and inferior subluxation of the humeral head without functional compromise was observed on the day after surgery and disappeared spontaneously on radiographs 2 weeks later. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report documenting the occurrence of transient postoperative inferior subluxation of the shoulder in a patient with MG.

Background: Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) has evolved continuously over recent years, with expanded indications and better outcomes. YouTube is one of the most popular sources globally for health-related information available to patients. Evaluating the reliability of YouTube videos concerning RSA is important to ensure proper patient education. Methods: YouTube was queried for the term "reverse shoulder replacement." The first 50 videos were evaluated using three different scores: Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria, the global quality score (GQS), and the reverse shoulder arthroplasty-specific score (RSAS). Multivariate linear regression analyses were conducted to determine the presence of a relationship between video characteristics and quality scores. Results: The average number of views was 64,645.78±264,160.9 per video, and the average number of likes was 414 per video. Mean JAMA, GQS, and RSAS scores were 2.32±0.64, 2.31±0.82, and 5.53±2.43, respectively. Academic centers uploaded the highest number of videos, and surgical techniques/approach videos was the most common video content. Videos with lecture content predicted higher JAMA scores whereas videos uploaded by industry predicted lower RSAS scores. Conclusions: Despite its massive popularity, YouTube videos provide a low quality of information on RSA. Introducing a new editorial review process or developing a new platform for patients' medical education may be necessary. Level of evidence: Not applicable.

Calcific tendinitis of the shoulder joint is common disease causing acute pain, mainly involving the supraspinatus or infraspinatus muscle, and less frequently the teres minor or subscapularis muscle. This study reports on the satisfactory arthroscopic removal of calcium deposits as well as infraspinatus and supraspinatus muscle repair without relapse via minimal incision using suture anchors. This was a case of atypically extensive calcific tendinitis involving the infraspinatus muscle, with a bursal side partial rupture of the supraspinatus muscle in a 61-year-old female whose chief complaint was chronic pain of the right shoulder exacerbated by limited movement.

Bony lesions of the glenoid and Hill-Sachs lesions are the most common injuries after a first-time traumatic shoulder dislocation. However, fracture of the coracoid process after traumatic shoulder dislocation is rare. A single, open surgical procedure could be performed by a Latarjet procedure using a fractured fragment of the coracoid process. If a fracture of the coracoid process is associated with a traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation, the Latarjet procedure may be the most appropriate surgical option.
