표면가공법에 따른 현가장치재의 부식특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Cormsion Characteristics of Suspension Material by Surface Processing)

  • In this study, the high strength and superior toughness spring steels as the suspension material, used for automobile and railroad industries were utilized to carry out the following investigations. Corrosion times were controlled in 7, 14,30 and 60days to examine the relation between corrosion pit and compressive residual stress in the static corrosion environment after shot peened. And then corrosion current and corrosion potential were measured for every 24 hours to investigate the corrosion mechanism. Shot peened material shows the low or rate of corrosion current as compared with unpeened material. In case of hot peened material which has the highest residual stress, it has a low corrosion current density.

  • High temperature fracture toughness characteristics of shot peened spring steel(SUP-9), which is used for automobile suspension system and railroad, was investigated in this paper. Fracture tougness test for room temperature, $100^{\circ}C$ , and $200^{\circ}C$ were evaluated by material test system(MTS). The experimental results show that the fracture toughness was improved by peened and unpeened. The fracture toughness for high temperature were also improved by peened and unpeened.

  • 표면파를 이용하여 쇼트피닝된 Al 7075 합금의 잔류응력 분포를 평가하고자 하였다. 재료 내 표면층에 대한 잔류응력분포를 달리하기 위해서 피닝볼의 속도를 30m/s로 하여 쇼트피닝을 수행하였다. 표면파의 속도는 초음파현미경을 이용하여 V(z)곡선법으로 측정하였다. 쇼트피닝 후 비커스경도를 측정한 결과 쇼트피닝에 의한 소성변형으로 0.25mm 깊이까지 가공경화가 나타났다. 압축잔류응력이 증가하면서 표면파의 속도는 증가를 하였고 인장잔류응력이 작용할수록 표면파의 속도가 감소하였다. 표면파의 속도 변화는 X선 회절에 의해 측정한 잔류응력 변화와 밀접한 연관성을 나타내었다.

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular manufacturing process and new materials development for solving the fatigue fracture problem attendant upon high strength of suspension of automobile are actively advanced. In this paper, the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in high temperatures($100^{\circ}$, $150^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. So, we can obtain followings. (1)Compressive residual stress decreases in high temperature, that is, with increasing temperature. (2)The effect of compressive residual stress on fatigue crack growth behavior in high temperature increases below ${\Delta}K=17{\sim}19MPa$ (3)It was investigated by SEM that the constraint of compress residual stress for plastic zone of fatigue crack tip was decreased in high temperature as compared with room temperature.

  • We got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room temperature and low temperature at $25^{circ}C$, $-60^{circ}C$, $-80^{circ}C$, and $-100^{circ}C$ in the range of stress ratio of 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. And there is a difference between shot peened specimen and unpeened specimen. The purpose of this study is to predict the behavior of fatigue crack propagation as one of fracture mechanics on the compressive residual stress. Fatigue crack growth rate of shot peened metal was lower than that of unpeened metal. The compressive residual stress made an impact on tension and compression of the plasticity deformation in fatigue crack plasticity zone. That is. the constrained force about plasticity deformation was strengthened by resultant stress, which resulted from plasticity deformation and compressive residual stress in the process of fatigue crack propagation.

  • As the industrial society develops rapidly, the weight reduction and high strength are demanded gradually. In case of the welded joint for the rolling stock which receives the repeat load, the structural failure can occur easily. However, if the shot peening technique is applied, the durability and the fatigue characteristics of the rolling stock will be improved because the hardness increases and the residual stress is induced. In this study, the fatigue characteristics of shot peened welled joints for the rolling stock was investigated. The crack initiation was examined and hardness was also evaluated. the results show that the fatigue characteristics of welded joints was improved.

  • Hardened layer and compressive residual stress created by carburized treatment effect on bending strength of gear massively. Also, shot peening treatment improves the strength of carburized gear as it does the hardness and residual stress of surface layer. In these days shot peening techniques are welcomed as one of physical improvement ways around the surface of materials. It is used widely because qualitative analysis of shot peening has become possible and surface treatment can be done with very little costs comparaed to other surface improvement methods. Therefore this study investigates the effect of shot peening in surface shape and bending fatigue strength after doing many kinds of shot peening treatments, then doing fatigue test and also explained characteristics of shot peening gear.

부식환경하에서 Al 7075-T6의 피로수명에 미치는 쇼트피닝의 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Shot Peening on the Fatigue Life of Al 7075-T6 under Corrosion Environment)

  • 부식은 기계류나 금속 부품의 성능과 수명을 저해하는 가장 큰 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 쇼트피닝이 부식환경하에서 Al 7075-T6의 피로수명에 미치는 쇼트피닝의 효과를 연구하였다. 쇼트피닝한 시험편의 피로한도는 약 52% 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 금속재 부품의 피로수명을 크게 연장시키는 것으로 보인다. 쇼트피닝을 한 시험편과 쇼트피닝 하지 않은 시험편을 1주에서 1년까지 비교 시험한 결과 부식은 피로강도를 현격히 감소시켰다. 쇼트피닝을 하였을 경우에는 부식에 의해 6개월 까지는 피로강도 및 피로수명이 감소하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 쇼트피닝 가공이 금속재료의 수명에 대한 부식의 영향을 크게 감소시키는 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다.
