  • This study proposes an AI-based shoe recommendation model based on user clothing image data to solve the problem of the global fashion industry, which is worsening due to factors such as the economic downturn. Shoes are an important part of modern fashion, and this research aims to improve user satisfaction and contribute to economic growth through a generative AI-based shoe recommendation service. By utilizing generative AI in the personalized consumer market, we show the feasibility, efficiency, and improvements through an accessible web-based implementation. In conclusion, this study provides insights to help fulfill consumer needs in the ever-changing fashion market by implementing a generative AI-based shoe recommendation model.

  • Purpose: To investigate the characteristics of the patients and therapeutic shoes for diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: Forty two diabetic patients who had their own therapeutic shoes which were prescribed somewhere else were studied from March 2003 to December 2003. There were 27 males and 15 females, and the mean age was 62.1 years (range, 49-72 years). Duration of diabetes was average 14 years (range, $6{\sim}30$ years), all had type 2 diabetes. Sensation was examined with 5.07 nylon monofilament. The route of purchasing the shoes, compliance to the prescribed shoes were investigated by interview. The shape of shoe, stiffness of upper, conformity of insole to the shape of the foot were recorded. In-shoe plantar pressure was measured in 15 patients. Results: Eighteen patients were insensate to the monofilament. Seven patients did not wear the therapeutic shoes, and only 18 of 35 patients were wearing the therapeutic shoes more than 6 hours a day. The shoes of 17 patients were prescribed by medical doctor and the rest were purchased by the recommendation of acquaintances or advertisement. Ulcer recurred in four of five patients to whom the shoe was prescribed by medical doctor and the cause of three recurrences were evident by just observing the foot and shoe. The therapeutic shoes were made from 11 different makers. Eight shoes were adequate for diabetic patients with respect to the material, shape of insole, type of shoe. In-shoe plantar pressure was examined in 15 patients and was less than 300 kPa in all patients. Conclusion: The therapeutic shoes for the diabetic patients need to be prescribed by medical doctor for selective patients with neuropathy or previous history of ulcer and follow-up examination is important to monitor the compliance of the patients and adequacy of the shoes.

  • In modern society, the service method is tended to prefer the non-face-to-face method rather than the face-to-face method. However, services that recommend products such as shoes will inevitably be face-to-face method. In this paper, for the purpose of non-face-to-face service, a system that a foot size is automatically measured and some shoes are recommended based on the measurement result is proposed. To analyze the performance of the proposed method, size measurement error rate and recommendation performance were analyzed. In the recommendation performance experiments, a total of 10 methods for similarity calculation were used and the recommendation method with the best performance among them was applied to the system. From the experiments, the error rate the foot size was small and the recommendation performance was possible to derive significant results. The proposed method is at the laboratory level and needs to be expanded and applied to the real environment. Also, the recommendation method considering design could be needed in the future work.

  • Gait analysis trackers have been developed to monitor daily gait patterns to improve users' running performance and reduce the risk of injuries. A variety of gait analysis trackers are available on the market(e.g., foot pods, insoles). Depending on the type of gait analysis tracker, users' discomfort or satisfaction as well as required properties may differ. Hence, the purpose of this study was to compare and analyze user experience of three different types of commercial shoe-mounted gait analysis trackers and their mobile applications in a laboratory environment using questionnaires based on actual experiences of each product. Ten males and ten females who regularly enjoy walking and running exercises participated in the experiment. After the participants set up the tracker and application themselves without support from researchers, ten to thirty minutes' exercise was permitted on each product. Following this, the participants answered questionnaires containing evaluation variables on the device and mobile application, as well as satisfaction, intention to use, recommendation, and purchase. In addition, they were asked questions about the attractive features and shortcomings of each device and application. The results showed that the PRO-SPECS® smart insole was preferred over the others for ease of use, perceived durability, psychological burden of the design, and usefulness of the information provided by the application. Along with the results of questionnaire, this study also discussed strategies and recommendations for future product design and development.
