As port functions change to act as an economic catalyst and take on a central position in industries engaged in international trade, port hinterland has become a significant component in international shipping. The success of port hinterland as a strategic base of logistic activities critically depends on location selection factor for international distribution center that links elements of global supply chain management. By examining multi-measurement items empirically, this paper analyzed location selection factor for international logistics distribution center in port hinterland, and evaluated Busan new port hinterland from the user's perspective. Employing exploratory factor analysis, the results revealed that the model structured around five factors incorporating geo-location and accessibility, availability, political supports, cost factors, and quality of business environment is valid and reliable in the context of the location selection factors for logistics distribution center in the context of port hinterland operations. The evaluation of Busan new port hinterland provides useful insights for strategic improvement to accommodate the users' expectation. Further, the model offers both a descriptive and diagnostic strategic management tool for port hinterland development and operations, to guide future improvement.

Shipping and logistics safety, security system is strengthening worldwide, the development of shipping and logistics safety security core technology for national security logistics system construction has been carried out. In addition, it is necessary to localize the Array Detection System, which is a core component of the container search machine, to cope with the 100% pre-inspection of the container scheduled for 2018 in the United States. In this paper, we propose a study on a self-developed Digital Signal Processing Board among the array detection systems that replace foreign products.

In this paper, we propose a test software program developed by using TI-RTOS (Texas Instruments - Real Time Operating System) with a test digital signal processing board which is developed self development.

Purpose - Along with the rapid growth of the economics and IT industry, E-commerce appears as the next potential area of world economics. For this no-entity shops commerce style, logistics is crucial for the success of E-commerce. Research design, data and methodology - In this paper, Dangdang.com, the largest online marketplace in China, is studied and a conceptual model is present, to develop a practical way to develop the logistics system in E-commerce situation. Results - This research finds that following 4 factors are critical success factors for E-commerce logistics: 1) logistics centres are very important to control the inventory management; 2) keep good cooperation with third-party logistics (3PL) can guarantee good quality shipping service and also can reduce delivery costs; 3) build strong information system; 4) quick response system also needed for an efficient logistics system. When E-commerce firms are developing their logistics systems, they should pay more attention to these 4 critical success factors. Conclusions - In summary, successful 3PL management is vital for competing regionally and globally throughout the logistics value chain. We see information system as an enabler in logistics management to get the right products to the right place in the right quantity at the right time and to provide quality services to satisfy the customer's needs.

This thesis aims to contribute to upgrading its position to the biggest 8 ports in Korea by suggesting activating schemes of Kunsan Port in rapidly changing shipping environments. The research methodologies such as literature survey, O/D analysis are adopted in the study. The following several conclusions can be suggested. Firstly, in port logistics system the dredging in navigational channels and in Kumgang Dam and the incentive schemes for the shipping companies and the international freight forwarders are required. Secondly cargo inducement schemes should be introduced to induce container cargoes originated in Junbook Do Province and adjacent area etc. Thirdly the development of new shipping routes and strengthening the coastal routes among domestic sea ports. Fouthly establishing supply chain management system with adjacent Chinese Provinces such as Shandong.

This paper provided a simulation model for transport vehicles that carry container from the ship to yard block and vice versa at automated container terminal with a perpendicular yard layout. Usually, the efficiency of container terminal is evaluated by the productivity of container cranes at apron, and the stevedoring system for transport vehicles and yard cranes should be supported enough to improve productivity of container cranes. Especially, transport vehicle is very important factor in the productivity of container cranes and the performance of transport vehicles are changed according to the number and traveling type of vehicles. For these reason, a method that can estimate productivity of transport vehicle is required Finally, we developed the simulation model to analyze the productivity of transport vehicle and presented the productivity of container cranes for a varying operation of transport vehicles.

In recent years, the pileup of world ports is deepening as time goes by due to China effect and continuous increase of world trade volume. The shipping companies try to reduce their shipping cost by using mega vessels in the ports. Shipping companies consider most of the ships turnaround time as a critical factor when selecting a calling port for reducing cost. This paper will suggest how we can guarantee terminal QoS like ship waiting time ratio and ship residing time applying RFID(Radio Frequence IDentification) technology, raising up rapidly as a fundamental solution of new growing industry to port information system. Also, lead time of whole port logistics can be decreased for reduction of loading & discharging time and result from productivity improvement of Twin-lift G/C(Gantry Crane} as applying RFID technology to terminal operation. The purpose of this paper suggests that the new business model of U-Port which port QoS can be guaranteed using RFID based RTLS technology.

This study analyzes the major factors affecting the freight rates of Very Large Crude-Oil Carriers (VLCC) using co-integration and vector error correction models (VECM). Particularly, we estimate the long-term equilibrium function that determines the VLCC freight rate by conducting difference conversion. In the VECM regression analysis, the error term converges toward long-term balance irrespective of whether the previous period's freight rate is bigger or smaller than the long-term equilibrium rate. Thus, even if the current rate is different from the long-term rate, it eventually converges to the long-term balance irrespective of a boom or recession. This study follows Ko and Ahn (2018), which analyzed the factors affecting the chemical carrier freight rate and was published in the Journal of Shipping and Logistics (Vol. 34, No. 2). It is expected that an academic comparison of the results of each study will be possible if further research is conducted on other vessel types, such as container ships and dry cargo vessels.

The purpose of this paper aims at contributing to the national economic development through global competitiveness enhancement by marine finance's hub and marine logistics cluster by finance specialization and finance support as a creative-type service industry in global shipping port logistics. This study adopted the integrated approach and applied it to policy implementation to achieve the effectiveness. Creative-type marine finance development stages as a tool of policy implementation and the guide line for the time of policy implementation are followed by Stage 1(Construction & Growth Policy) for 2013~2016, Stage 2(Forstering & Activation Policy) for 2017~2019) and Stage 3(Continuous Development Policy) after 2020 until its completion. Korea has the inferiority over the competitiveness in global marine finance and needs a strategic approach to secure the liquidity of marine finance; interim, Islamic finance has been come to the force as a new alternative in financial transaction being accompanied by a spot transaction since the crisis of global finance. In order to create a potential slack of Korea in marine finance practice, in addition, this study suggests a consortium with the circle of Islamic finance as a clue of an easier policy implementation at the beginning stage.

The core of this research studies the strategic alliance of airlines, container shipping liners, and port operators that have shown successful results through the recent differentiated strategic Alliance Network, although a difference of scale exists between these firms and the small and mid-sized International Logistics firms, but because of the worldwide traditional Alliance Network of International Logistics firms, HTFN's(High Tech Forwarder Network) half hearted attitude and the small scale alliance of the small and mid-sized International Logistics firms organized in 1998 cannot breakthrough the present strenuous situation. And these results, creating an attempt to save our country's International Logistics Industry which have fallen into depression, suggests an awakening of a new strategy based on specialized nationals innovative IT-which does not exist in the world market-by categorizing our country's small and mid-sized International Logistics firms which are active worldwide.
