고유진동수와 모우드의 민감도를 구하기 위한 반복법 (An Iterative Method for Natural Frequency and Mode Shape Sensitivities)

  • A numerical method is presented for computation of eigenvector derivatives used an iterative procedure with guaranteed convergence. An approach for treating the singularity in calculating the eigenvector derivatives is presented, in which a shift in each eigenvalue is introduced to avoid the singularity. If the shift is selected properly, the proposed method can give very satisfactory results after only one iteration. A criterion for choosing an adequate shift, dependent on computer hardware is suggested ; it is directly dependent on the eigenvalue magnitudes and the number of bits per numeral of the computer. Another merit of this method is that eigenvector derivatives with repeated eigenvalues can be easily obtained if the new eigenvectors are calculated. These new eigenvectors lie "adjacent" to the m (number of repeated eigenvalues) distinct eigenvectors, which appear when the design parameter varies. As an example to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method in the case of distinct eigenvalues, a cantilever plate is considered. The results are compared with those of Nelson's method which can find the exact eigenvector derivatives. For the case of repeated eigenvalues, a cantilever beam is considered. The results are compared with those of Dailey's method which also can find the exact eigenvector derivatives. The design parameter of the cantilever plate is its thickness, and that of the cantilever beam its height.

Secondary structure analysis of MRA1997 from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and characterization of DNA binding property

  • MRA1997 is a highly conserved protein from mycobacterial strains. However, no structural and functional information is associated with it. Thus, to obtain details about structure and function of this protein, we have utilized NMR spectroscopy. The recombinant MRA1997 was highly purified and its DNA binding mode was characterized. The tertiary structure of MRA1997 was modeled on the basis of our NMR chemical shift data combined with the webserver CS23D. The binding of MRA1997 with DNA was first monitored by electrophoresis mobility shift assays. The residues involved in DNA binding are identified using NMR chemical shift perturbation experiments. Based on our study, we suggest that MRA1997 interacts with DNA and may play an important role in Mycobacterium tuberculosis physiology.

  • 수 백 Watt 급의 통신용 장비 등에 적합하도록 고안된, 직렬 연결된 두 개의 트랜스포머를 갖는 새로운 위상천이 풀 브릿지 컨버터를 제시한다. 제안된 회로의 장점은 넓은 입력 범위를 가지며, 경부하에서도 스위치의 영전압 조건을 보다 쉽게 만족시킬 수 있다는 점, 그리고 작은 출력 변동율을 갖는다는 점 등이다. 뿐만 아니라, 직렬로 연결된 두 개의 트랜스포머가 번갈아 가면서 주 트랜스포머로서의 역할과 출력 인덕터로서의 역할을 함께 수행하므로, 출력측에서는 인덕터없이 필터링이 가능하게 되고, 따라서 고전력밀도의 컨버터를 제작할 수 있게 된다. 모드 해석과 대신호 모델링을 통한 설계식의 유도, 그리고 실험 결과를 보여줌으로써 제안된 컨버터를 검증한다.

천연가스의 수증기 개질에서 수성가스 전환용 충진층 반응기의 전산모사 (Packed Bed Reactor Simulation for the Water Gas Shift Reaction in the Steam Reforming of Natural Gas)

  • A 1-dimensional heterogeneous reactor model with the gas-solid interfacial phase gradients was developed for the simulation of the packed bed reactor where the exothermic reversible water gas shift reaction for the natural gas steam reformed gas was proceeding in adiabatic mode. Experimental results obtained over the WGS catalyst, C18-HA, were best simulated when the frequency factor of the reaction rate constant was adjusted to a half the value reported over another WGS catalyst, EX-2248, having the same kinds of active components as the C18-HA. For the reactor of the inside diameter 158.4 mm and the bed length 650 mm, the optimum feeding temperature of the reformed gas was simulated to be $194^{\circ}C$, giving the lowest CO content in the product gas by 1.68 mol% on the basis of dried gas. For reactors more extended in the bed length, the possible lowest CO content in the product gas with the optimum feeding temperature of the reformed gas were suggested.

Reactive Power and Soft-Switching Capability Analysis of Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC Converters with Dual-Phase-Shift Control

  • This paper focuses on a systematical and in-depth analysis of the reactive power and soft-switching regions of Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converters with dual-phase-shift (DPS) control to achieve high efficiency in a wide operating range. The key features of the DPS operating modes are characterized and verified by analytical calculation and experimental tests. The mathematical expressions of the reactive power are derived and the reductions of the reactive power are illustrated with respect to a wide range of output power and voltage conversion ratios. The ZVS soft-switching boundary of the DPS is presented and one more leg with ZVS capability is achieved compared with the CPS control. With the selection of the optimal operating mode, the optimal phase-shift pair is determined by performance indices, which include the minimum peak or rms inductor current. All of the theoretical analysis and optimizations are verified by experimental tests. The experimental results with the DPS demonstrate the efficiency improvement for different load conditions and voltage conversion ratios.

A Study on Implementing a Phase-Shift Full-Bridge Converter Employing an Asynchronous Active Clamp Circuit

  • The conventional Phase-Shift Full-Bridge (PSFB) converter has a serious voltage spike because of the ringing between the leakage inductance of the transformer and the parasitic output capacitance of the secondary side rectifier switches. To overcome this problem, an asynchronous active clamp technique employing an auxiliary DC/DC converter has been proposed. However, an exact analyses for designing the auxiliary DC/DC converter has not been presented. Therefore, the amount of power that is supposed to be handled in the auxiliary DC/DC converter is calculated through a precise mode analyses in this paper. In addition, this paper proposes a lossy snubber circuit with hysteresis characteristics to reduce the burden that the auxiliary DC/DC converter should take during the starting interval. This technique results in optimizing the size of the magnetic component of the auxiliary DC/DC converter. The operational principles and the theoretical analyses are validated through experiments with a 48V-to-30V/15A prototype.

Optimized Operation of Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC Converters in the Soft-Switching Area with Triple-Phase-Shift Control at Light Loads

  • It is usually difficult for dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converters to operate efficiently at light loads. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of a DAB with triple-phase-shift (TPS) control under the light load condition to overcome this problem. A kind of operating mode which is suitable for light load operation is analyzed in this paper. First, an analysis of the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) constraints for the DAB converter has been carried out and a reasonable dead-band setting method has been proposed. Secondly, the basic operating characteristics of the converter are analyzed. Third, under the condition of satisfying the ZVS constraints, both the reactive power and the root mean square (RMS) value of the current are simultaneously minimized and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed to analyze and solve this optimization problem. Lastly, both simulations and experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The experimental results show that the converter can effectively achieve ZVS and improved efficiency.

중성점을 사용하지 않는 BLDC 전동기 센서리스 제어 기법 (Sensorless Control Method of the BLDC Motor Without Neutral Point)

  • Generally, brushless DC motor(BLDCM) driving system uses hall sensors or encoders as the mechanical position or speed sensor. It is necessary to achieve the informations of rotor position for driving trapezoidal type brushless DC motor without any position sensor. In this paper, the commutation signals are obtained without the motor neutral voltage, multistage analog filters, A/D converters, or the complex digital phase shift circuits which are indispensable in the conventional sensorless control algorithms. In the proposed method, in stead of detecting the zero crossing point of the nonexcited motor back electromagnetic force for the average motor terminal to neutral voltage, the commutation signal are extracted directly from the specific average line to line voltage with low-pass filter, adder and comparators circuit. In contrast to conventional methods, the neutral voltage is not need; therefore, the commutation signals are insensitive to the common mode noise. Moreover, the complex phase shift circuit can be eliminated. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through simulation results.

  • To solve the low efficiency problem of low-voltage power supplies, it has been studied to replace the schottky barrier diode with the MOSFET synchronous rectifier. In this paper, Phase Shift-Controlled Clamp Mode Zero Voltage Switching-Multi Resonant Converter with Synchronous Rectifier (PSC CM ZVS-MRC with SR) is presented to achieve high efficiency in low-voltage power supplies. The characteristics analysis of synchronous rectifier is established by using the MOSFET equivalent circuit and efficiency comparison is established between the Synchronous Rectifier and the schottky barrier diode. To verify the validity of the analysis, 33W(3.3V, 10A) PSC CM ZVS-MRC with self-driven synchronous rectifier at switching frequency of 1MHz is designed and tested. And it is confirmed that the experimental results are well consistent with the theoretical results. The maximum efficiency of the converter is 83.4% at full load, which is 3.3% higher than conventional schottky diode rectification.

Reflection of a gaussian beam from a planar dielectric interface

  • When a Gaussian beam is incident to a planar dielectric interface at an angle other than Brewster angle or the critical angle of total reflection, we derive the six nonspecular effects of rotation, lateral shift, focal shift, Rayleigh length change, magnitude and phase changes in the complex amplitude of the reflected beam simultaneously by taking account of the boundary condition. In the derivation we assume a Gaussian beam of fundamental mode to emerge from the interface and then match at the interface the constant, linear, and quadratic variations of the amplitude and phase of the reflected beam with those of the incident beam multiplied by the reflection coefficient. Our calculation shows that the six nonspecular effects can result from a linear variation of the natural logarithm of the reflection coefficient at the interface.
