This paper proposes a synchronous switching technique for a Vienna rectifier that uses carrier-based pulse width modulation (CB-PWM). A three-phase Vienna rectifier, similar to a three-level T-type converter with three back-to-back switches, is used as a PWM rectifier. Conventional CB-PWM requires six independent gate signals to operate back-to-back switches. When internal switches are operated synchronously, only three independent gate signals are required, which simplifies the construction of gate driver circuits. However, with this method, total harmonic distortion of the input current is higher than that with conventional CB-PWM switching. A reactive current injection technique is proposed to improve current distortion. The performance of the proposed synchronous switching method and the effectiveness of the reactive current injection technique are verified using simulations and experiments performed with a set of Vienna rectifiers rated at 5 kW.

In this paper, characteristics of a tidal current power generation system are analysis using power hardware-in-the-loop simulation (PHILS). A 10 kW motor generator set is connected to the real grid through a fabricated 10 kW back to back converter. A power control scheme is applied to the back to back converter. A 2 MW class tidal current turbine is modeled in real time digital simulator (RTDS). Generating voltage and current from the 10 kW PMSG is applied to a 2 MW class tidal current turbine in the RTDS using PHILS. The PHILS results depict the rotation speed, power coefficient, pitch angle, tip-speed ratio, and output power of tidal current turbine. The PHILS results in this paper can contribute to the increasing reliability and stability of the tidal current turbines connected to the grid using PHILS.
This paper describes a real-time hardware simulator for a grid-tied Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) wind power system, which consists of an anemometer, a data logger, a motor-generator set with vector drive, and a back-to-back power converter with a digital signal processor (DSP) controller. The anemometer measures real wind speed, and the data is sent to the data logger to calculate the turbine torque. The calculated torque is sent to the vector drive for the induction motor after it is scaled down to the rated simulator power. The motor generates the mechanical power for the PMSG, and the generated electrical power is connected to the grid through a back-to-back converter. The generator-side converter in a back-to-back converter operates in current control mode to track the maximum power point at the given wind speed. The grid-side converter operates to control the direct current link voltage and to correct the power factor. The developed simulator can be used to analyze various mechanical and electrical characteristics of a grid-tied PMSG wind power system. It can also be utilized to educate students or engineers on the operation of grid-tied PMSG wind power system.

Hierarchical constraints and constraint satisfaction were analyzed in order to solve the problem of conflict detection in collaborative design. The constraints were divided into two sets: one set consisted of known constraints and the other of unknown constraints. The constraints of the two sets were detected with corresponding methods. The set of the known constraints was detected using an interval propagation algorithm, a back propagation (BP) neural network was proposed to detect the set with the unknown constraints. An immune algorithm (IA) was utilized to optimize the weights and the thresholds of the BP neural network, and the steps were designed for the optimization process. The results of the simulation indicated that the BP neural network that was optimized by IA has a better performance in terms of convergent speed and global searching ability than a genetic algorithm. The constraints were described using the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) for computers to be able to automatically recognize and establish the constraint network. The implementation of the conflict detection system was designed based on constraint satisfaction. A wind planetary gear train is taken as an example of collaborative design with a conflict detection system.
This study was performed to evaluate the change of the soft tissue facial profile after mandibular set back surgery during time intervals. For this study, 33 patient, 8 males and 25 females, were selected and their lateral cephalograms were taken and analyzed periodically. Hard and soft tissue changes during postoperative time intervals, correlation between surgical skeletal changes and postoperative soft tissue changes, and prediction for long-term soft tissue changes were established through varying statistical methods. The results were as follow : 1. There were meaningful changes of anteroposterior skeletal position at 6 months and 2 years after mandibular set back by mandibular ramus osteotomy. Two years postoperatively, there was 30%, 32%, 29% relapse on B point, pogonion, menton each. 2. Two years after the mandibular ramus osteotomy, the relative changes of the soft tissue to their osseous counterparts showed 76% on the lower lip and 91% on the pogonion. 3. The movements of the mandibular landmarks in correlation to anteroposterior position of the lower lip and soft tissue of the chin showed to be effective on a long-term basis. 4. Using surgical changes of pogonion, prediction of changes in soft and hard tissue pogonion was useful and the coefficient of determination was 0.46 each and their reliability decreased 2 years postoperatively. 5. The upper lip position after the mandibular set back surgery was somewhat anterior 2 years postoperatively, but that has no statistical meanings.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the skeletal relapse pattern of the mandibular prognathic patients after mandibular set back surgery by sagittal split ramus osteotomy. The horizontal and vertical position of the cephalometric points were measured before, after surgery and after one-year follow up period. The next, the positional change of the proximal and distal mandibular segment were evaluated respectively. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The horizontal and vertical position of Cd was not changed before and after surgery, and it was maintained its original position during the observation periods. 2. As the mandibular prognathism of the patients was severe before surgery, the more skeletal relapse tendency was observed during follow-up period(p<0.05). 3. As the horizontal positional change of the mandible which was obtained by mandibular set-back surgery was large, the more horizontal relapse tendency was observed during follow-up period(p<0.05). 4. The corpus axis angle decreased by sagittal split ramus osteotomy(p<0.01), but it was kept its reoriented position during follow-up period. 5. During the follow-up period after mandibular set-back by sagittal split ramus osteotomy, the forward relapse of mandible correlated with not only the forward rotation of the proximal segment but also the forward movement of the distal segment(p<0.05).

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the frequency band pass filter on the P300 event-related potential in the working memory. Methods : The subjects were 20 women in their 20s who applied for participation in the experiment. Event-related potentials (ERPs) were elicited using 3-back tasks for the working memory, and were recorded from Fz, Cz, and Pz scalp electrodes. The high-pass filters were set to 0.01, 0.1, and 0.3 Hz for analysis purposes, and the low-pass filters were set to 30 and 15 Hz. The 3-back task was presented for a total of 100 times, among which 30 times were designated for the target stimulation (a matched number) and 70 times for the non-target stimulation (an unmatched number). The temporal interval between each stimulation was set at 1 second, while each time duration was randomly presented between 2 to 4 seconds. ERP were analyzed for the P300 recorded from Fz, Pz and Cz scalp electrodes. Results : Latency and amplitude had no significant interaction effects in both the high- and low-pass filters. For the main effects, the latency and amplitude of the P300 event-related potential had no significant difference in the high-pass filters, but the latency had a significant difference in the low-pass filter of Fz, and the amplitude had a significant difference in the low-pass filter of Pz. Conclusion : The results of this study showed that the less than 0.3 Hz high filters had no effects on the differences between the latency and amplitude of the P300 event-related potential in the working memory. The 30Hz low-pass filter, however, was found to be useful for recording the P300 event-related potential in the working memory.

Purpose : This study was intended to evaluate the positional relationship between the hyoid bone and the mandible in patients with mandibular protrusion after mandibular set-back surgery by means of 3D-CT. Materials and methods : Preoperative(3 weeks before) and postoperative (6 weeks after) 3D-CT & cephalogram were taken on 32 patients(12 male, 20 female, mean age of 23.2) treated by bilateral sagittal split osteotomy with rigid fixation. The angular measurement on 3D-CT basilar view were deviation of Me & H, long axis angle of left & right cornu majus. The lineal measurement on 3D-CT basilar view were composed of intercondylar line and coordinates(x,y) of Me & H. The angular & lineal measurement of lateral cephalogram were composed of mandibular plane angle, SNA, SNB, ANB, FH-NA & FH-NB, and coordinates(x,y) of B, Pog, Me & H, PAS, Lpw, MPH and IAS. On the frontal cephalogram, deviation of Me were evaluated. Results : The mean mandibular set-back was 8.0mm horizontally and mandibular plane angle was slightly increased. The hyoid bone was displaced postero-inferiorly, the distance between MP(mandibular plane) and H(hyoid bone) was increased and the posterior airway space values (PAS, Lpw, IAS) were decreased. The coordinates Me(x,y), H(x,y) and deviation angle Me'& H' were revealed the strong positive correlation. Conclusion : The results revealed that the horizontal, vertical and transverse relationship of the mandibular and the hyoid bone movements were significantly correlated in patients performed mandibular set-back surgery.
This study aimed to develop a draping manual for the basic bodice to be available in colleges and industries. For this, draping methods mentioned in six different textbooks were comparatively analyzed. As for the research method, draping methods were compared by using training textbook, and basic bodices designed with muslin were assessed using the 5-point Likert scale. First, the draping methods of basic bodices were comparatively analyzed. The main baselines were set as the center front line, the center back line, the bust line, and the shoulder blade line. The position of dart was suggested based on the princess line, in both the front and the back. The value of dart was classified as a fixed size with any associated excess. The length of dart was set based on the bust point and shoulder blade point or a fixed size. The amount of ease was randomly set based on the fixed size, bust circumference, waist circumference, interscye length, armholes and shoulder lines, or the worker's intuition. Second, according to the appearance evaluation of the patterns, the following patterns obtained the highest scores: A pattern 2.5cm away from the B.P point of the waist dart and shoulder dart in the frontal appearance, a pattern of 0.6~0.7cm ease for the front armhole, a pattern with an ease of 1.2cm in the bust and 0.6cm in the waist. As for back appearance, the pattern in which the point of waist dart is 2~3cm from the bust line received the highest score.
