The ASK_a Service Model for Public Library in Korea (우리나라 공공도서관의 ASK_a 서비스 모형 개발)

  • The new service of Korean public library, ASK_a service model suggests a new management practice in collaborative digital reference services. The model has three functions: input transaction, process transaction, and output transaction. The best form for input is the web form. The best form for process is a model with a hybrid type of public libraries(hierarchical and lateral type). The output suggests the archiving policy for gathering the query-answer data. The core of this model is providing an advanced information service to its users through cooperation with public libraries and external manpower.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a practical model for enhancing cooperative virtual reference services of public libraries in the nation. The research methods include an examination of model cases from Europe and the V.S. and also an electronic questionnaire survey of 375 public librarians (73% response rate). The study results suggest the need for 'a collaborative virtual reference room' which consists of the collaborative reference database, virtual reference desk, guidance and instruction designed by age groups and/or subjects.

  • In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.

  • This research was tried for developing the model on the service science research scope. The suggested model is composed as 3 layer dimensional reference model. The first axis is on the perspective of service life cycle. Another second axis is on the service research characteristics or types. And last axis is also on the service systems. At here, service life cycle is related to service strategy, service development, and service implementation of operation. The service research characteristics or types is related to service basic research, service application research, and service convergence research. Lastly, the service systems is related to the needs analysis, service competence and service resources. This model can be applicable to include the various research topic or theme related on the service sciences. In the future, some enhanced models from researchers or practices from service providers, related on the service science research scope, are expected.

  • Healthcare lifelog, a personal record relating to disease treatment and healthcare, plays an important role in healthcare paradigm shifts in which medical and information technology converge. Healthcare services based on various healthcare lifelogs are being launched domestically by both large corporations and small and medium enterprises, however, they are being built on an individual platform that is dependent on each company. Therefore, the terms of lifelog data are different as well as the measurement specifications are not uniform. This study proposes a reference model for minimum common data required for sharing and utilization of healthcare lifelog. Literature study and expert survey derived 3 domain, 17 essential items, and 51 sub-items. The model provides definition, measurement data format, measurement method, and precautions for each detailed measurement item, and provides necessary guidelines for data and service design and construction for healthcare service. This study has its significance as a basic research supporting the activation of ecosystem by ensuring interoperability of data between heterogeneous healthcare devices linked to digital healthcare platform.

  • Collaborative Digital Reference Service( CDRS) has spread worldwide as a tool of obtaining high-quality information in knowledge information society KISTI formed CDRS collaboration model called Question포인트+ with 4 institutions in Korea. In Question포인트+ which is also linked to the Global Network, the domestic and oversea information specialists answer a variety of questions in response of the requests of users on the web. The implementation of Question포인트+ is significant as the first domestic CDRS collaboration model, and contribute to management, dissemination, and activation of CDRS in Korea.

  • This study examines basic concepts and characteristics of QuestionPoint, the typical model of Collaborative Digital Reference Service and Global Reference Network, and analyzes the case of Question포인트 service at Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information where the service is initiated first time in Korea by developing Korean interface. 114 reference questions were analyzed, and questionnaires were sent to 63 service users to find out their overall attitudes and degree of satisfaction. Some suggestions were made by discussing the necessity of the enhancement of CDRS and mutual cooperation among Korean libraries.

  • Digital content industry is growing rapidly because of the property of high-speed networking and greater demand for digital fulltext-image. However, we know the fact that it is many difficulty in production and supply for good quality of content. Hereupon, we suggest digital fulltext-image service framework to protect copyright. More concretely, we propose integrated model and reference model to securely serve digital fulltext-image by recompositing core objects and reconstructing the value-chain structure of digital content industry to framework including the process(from its production (creators or copyrighters) to consumption (users or consumers)). Also, we construct the digital fulltext- image service system based on reference model and reconstruct its interface that occurs between core subjects.

  • The location information of wired 112, 119 emergency call is provided immediately by subscriber database of KT. But emergency call made by mobile phone should be ask location information to mobile network. This paper proposes the network protocol for mobile emergency service refer to TIA/EIA/J-STD-036-A with reviews about technical issues, legacy factors and related researches. The mobile emergency service is divided to mobile emergency rescue service and mobile emergency alert service. The network reference model for mobile emergency rescue service is released in domestic sector. In this paper, the interfaces between modules of the network reference model, and service scenarios, message flows are defined. Supplement to mobile emergency rescue service, the network reference model, interfaces and message flows for mobile emergency alert service are developed.

  • Telematics is an emerging industrial field made up of the convergence of technologies. The key technologies for Telematics are server-side technology, terminal-side technology, communication-related technology, and positioning technology. Standardization in Telematics is now getting more notice these days. Domestic situation is explained for several related facilities such as ETRI, TTA, and Telematics Standardization Forum. In this paper, we will focus especially on the standard reference model that is the most fundamental framework of Telematics technology standardization. In the reference model, the Telematics system is composed of Telematics client part, communication part, and Telematics server part. The Telematics client part consists of terminal, positioning device, and car electronic devices. Communication part can be composed of various telecommunication channels such as CDMA, WLAN, DMB, WiBro, etc. which can guarantee the seamless two-way communication. Telematics server part is composed of TSP(Telematics Service Provider) server and CP(Contents Provider) servers gathering and managing the various Telematics services. This Telematics reference model is expected to be utilized as the base architecture in developing the technology and standards from now on.
