Scheme of Vector Drive System for Induction Motor without Speed Sensor (유도전동기 센서리스 벡터구동 시스템의 구현)

  • This paper describes a newly developed vector drive system without the speed sensor using theory of a flus observer and based on the field oriented vector control. The new method of speed estimation is presented to operate with the position and magnitude of the secondary flux vector which obtain to the observer md detected current. As the speed of estimation is determined to the flux and the motor constants, this method don't need to adjust the gain of the parameter and is operated simply. On basic the derived theory for vector control, sensorless speed control system for induction motor drive is design and realized. It is determined a controllers gain and observer gain by simulation and the experiment of sensorless vector drive is realized.

  • This paper presents a sensorless direct torque control (DTC) combined with sliding mode approach (SM) and space vector modulation (SVM) to achieve mainly a high performance and reduce torque and flux ripples of a parallel-connected two five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drive system. In order to increase the proposed drive robustness and decrease its complexity and cost, the rotor speeds, rotor positions, fluxes as well as torques are estimated by using a sliding mode observer (SMO) scheme. The effectiveness of the proposed sliding mode observer in conjunction with the sliding mode control based DTC is confirmed through the application of different load torques for wide speed range operation. Comparison between sliding mode control and proportional integral (PI) control based DTC of the proposed two-motor drive is provided. The obtained speeds, torques and fluxes responses follow their references; even in low and reverse speed operations, load torques changes, and machines parameters variations. Simulation results confirm also that, the ripples of the torques and fluxes are reduced more than 3.33% and 16.66 %, respectively, and the speed overshoots and speed drops are reduced about 99.85% and 92.24%, respectively.

  • In brushless DC motor, current flow should be controlled such that only properly selected 2 out of 3 phases carry current depending on the position of rotor. In order to detect position of rotor, hole sensor, encoder, optical position-detecting sensor, and magnetic position-detecting sensor are frequently employed. These sensors not only often cause malfunction in low and high temperature but they also have disadvantage of increasing cost and size of an motor system. To reduce the cost and size and to increase the robustness of the motor system, recently researches on sensorless motor dirve are very active. This paper proposes a novel unipolar PWM switching method that can improve the control problem caused by the difficulty of detecting zero crossing point at high revolution speed by minimizing the switching noise while increasing the lifespan of the drive system.

  • Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) have emerged as viable alternatives to other adjustable speed drives such as vector controlled induction motors (VCIM) and permanent magnet brush-less (PMBL) motors due to their simple construction, ease of control, low inertia and higher operating speeds. However, the indispensability of the rotor position sensor in an SRM for its successful operation increases its cost, apart from causing other problems like decreasing its reliability and inability to operate in adverse environmental conditions. In this paper, a new sensorless control scheme for the SRM is advocated. The required fundamental data is obtained by analyzing the SRM using the Finite Elements (FE) package MAXWELL. The drive is studied in both 'with sensor' and 'sensorless' modes and a comparison of the performances, in both cases, is presented for various operating conditions.

  • The design of speed controller for induction motor using tabu search is studied. The proposed sensorless vector control for Induction Motor is composed of two parts. The first part is for optimizing the initial parameters of input-output. The second part is for real time changing parameters of input-output using tabu search. Proposed tabu search is improved by neighbor solution creation using Gaussian random distribution. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed method, we apply the proposed controller to the sensorless speed control of an actual AC induction Motor System. The performance of this approach is verified through simulation.

Sensorless Estimation of Single-Phase Hybrid SRM using Back-EMF

  • This paper presents a novel scheme to estimate the rotor position of a single-phase hybrid switched reluctance motor (HSRM). The back-EMF generated by the permanent magnet (PM) field whose performance is motor parameter independent is adopted as an index to achieve the sensorless control. The differential value of back-EMF is calculated by hardware and processed by DSP to capture a fixed rotor position four times for every mechanical cycle. In addition, to accomplish the normal starting of HSRM, the determination method of the turn-off time position at the first electrical cycle is also proposed. In this way, a sensorless operation scheme with adjustable turn on/off angle can be achieved without substantial computation. The experimental verification using a prototype drive system is provided to demonstrate the viability of the proposed position estimation scheme.

  • A sensorless drive of induction motor has several advantage: low cost and availability in a harsh environment. Most of sensorless control schemes are based on the direct estimation of rotor speed from state observer. This study proposes a new sensorless control scheme. The proposed scheme is based on a reference model control which the error between the model and plant outputs decays to zero as time proceeds. The actuating signal is calculated from the fuzzy controller which increases the system stability and robustness. The simulation results indicate a good dynamic performance.

  • This paper presents a new and simple method for sensorless operation of matrix converter drives using a constant air-gap flux and the imaginary power flowing to the motor. To improve low-speed sensorless performance, the non-linearities of a matrix converter drive such as commutation delays, turn-on and turn-off times of switching devices, and on-state switching device voltage drop are modelled using PQR transformation and compensated using a reference power control scheme. The proposed compensation method is applied for high performance induction motor drives using a 3 kW matrix converter system. Experimental results are shown to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed strategy.

  • This paper presents a current sensorless maximum torque control of a synchronous reluctance motor drive. Stator current and current angle vs. maximum torque are obtained using measured d-axis and q-axis inductances. Then, d and q-axis stator voltage references for current sensorless maximum torque control are calculated from stator voltage equations. The proposed method is verified by simulation results comparing with conventional method.
